Buyer beware. I cancelled my membership months ago for a few reasons.

First, I had to cut something out due to rising costs of everything. This is not a Genesis problem but it is now because I had previously tried to cancel this membership more than once. I knew in a few months I wouldn't be able to afford the added expense so I did my due diligence to cancel it and he was never available. I was finally a little demanding and asked that he call me which he did, but it was basically too late financially for me at that point. Now they are trying to collect because my last payment declined. I didn't even use their facility the last month and had asked several times prior about canceling the membership because I knew my situation was getting difficult.

The facility is not clean and maintained like it used to be.

Staff is not professional and a lot of the time, not at the desk if you need assistance. Toward the end of my time at Genesis, I walked in at 5 am several times and the front desk associate was lying on the sofa. A few times, another front desk associate was talking to her significant other instead of paying attention to what's going on in the facility. I stood there for way too long and finally had to interrupt their conversation to inquire about canceling my membership. Weekends were beginning to struggle getting the doors open at 7 and 8 am. Myself and several other people sat in our cars and waited 10 plus minutes for doors to unlock more than a handful of times.

I told them about these issues, so yes, they are aware. Overall it's not worth the money. There are less expensive alternatives.

I feel like my complaint of harassment and bullying isn't taken seriously and very deeply hurt, I love dancing. The manager responded dismissively to my complaint of multiple gym members acting creepy, disrespectful and harassing. She responded with " we never had this problem before " and it kind of felt like she game me this dirty look as if I am the problem. It hurts, I love dancing and the studio now my bullies are running me out I feel sad, (ex boyfriend brought in new girlfriend wearing adult entertainment attire into the studio when I was by myself practicing ballet and cardio, they were doing provocative things to make me feel disrespected in my own fitness space and hurt. Multiple incidences happened, as if a group of people who are racially targeting me are provoking me to cry, to be upset, it feels racially targeting because I do Nothing to them. I just go straight to studio and very shy, yet they go out their way to approach me with mean spirited behavior. Provoking a reaction. I don't feel safe even in this gym , so unsafe I went as far as bringing in a recorder. I went as far as practice martial arts to scare away my bullies from disrespecting my fitness space. going to a gym out of town. Knowing that this review will leave enemies following me, please don't follow me in my personal life to leave fake reviews on my business as revenge because I left an honest review on y'all's. I went as far as started to document and started to come to gym with recorder just to feel safe, It makes me sad I am contemplating quitting genisis. I just want to go somewhere where men are not being weird constantly staring and gym staff not really patrolling to ensure other gym members are being respectful of others fitness space. I love dancing so much and it makes me sad I have to struggle to find a safe place for me to practice doing something I enjoy that helps me stay active because I find it hard staying motivated doing regular workouts

The owner don't take care of the business. They offer a tanning service but dont maintain the beds. Last time the bulbs where changed where two years ago when I started there. The equipment is outdated,the carpet is gross. It's very expressive place for it to go. The place is not maintained very well. I dont recommend. Need to cancel my membership.

I wanted to give a big shout-out to Paxton and Hannah for having the men's wet sauna up and running in the early morning. I know it is difficult to wake up before the sun, but they are doing a fantastic job. Please ask Paxton for some training. He deserves it.

Great facility. I don’t live here, but I always make a point to stop at this gym when I’m in town. The Nautilus Nitro and Hammer Strength machines are among the best produced in the last 25 years. I love their large selection! I would say that it’s also a very clean gym. I would definitely pay for a regular membership if I lived here.

Management sucks. Told them a month in an advance that I would not renew my contract. I was told it’d be fine and that’d they take care of it. Thought everything was fine until I noticed that they had attempted to charge me again, even after my contract date had expired and gave plenty of notice. Now due to management lying to me, now they are forcing me to pay.

I was blown away when I found out this club in Hutchinson is 30 years old and the equipment is older than that. (It came in used from a purchase Genesis made elsewhere and was used when they got it.) Everything is in great condition and the staff replaces bent pins in the machines when members abuse them. (Wish they had a "pin bender" T shirt for those folks!) All pads on the equipment are refurbished when any sign of wear occurs. (unlike the "other" club in town we used to go to). The trainers are superb (again, SO MUCH BETTER than the other club) and have tailored a fitness program just for us. Trendon (our trainer) keeps a close watch on me as I'm 73 and wanting to get back in shape, doing a great job.

What a fantastic find!! I was looking for a non-cookie cutter gym in Hutchinson, KS, something more awesome and personal. Genesis Health Club is the real deal. The staff is amazing, the facility is CLEAN and has just about every piece of equipment under the sun. There are so many nooks and crannies to go have your own personal workout session, and there were all types of people working out and everyone was respectful. Truly an inclusive experience. Bonus, the smoothie bar is a fantastic perk. 2 thumbs up!

Love the gym and the members but extremely disappointed with the General Manager Mike!! I brought a friend in to work out with me (who is a non-member). Once she did the sign in sheet and the manager came out. She was told that she had to pay the $15 day pass fee or leave a Google review. Which leaving a review was no big deal until he proceeded to give her HIS personal cellphone and make HER log into HER personal Google account to leave the review. Thankfully, I realized what was going on and got it stopped before she verified all of her personal info and then I just paid the $15 for her! This is wrong on so many levels and I could only imagine what could or would of happened if he had access to her whole Google Account on his personal cell phone!! Then, when I confronted Mike about how inappropriate this was, I was told that it was a corporate policy (which was not a true statement because I called the corporate office to confirm) and that he felt he was not doing anything wrong. Because he was just “Getting Google Reviews” for the business!!

Wow! I recently visited the Genesis in Hutchinson and was surprised by the facilities. They have everything I look for like fitness equipment, weights, group classes and trainers. The staff were awesome and showed me how to work fitness machines that I had never tried. The facilities were clean and inviting!! Can’t wait to go back and try a group fitness class like yoga or spin! There is even a smoothie bar!

Beware when signing up with this gym. They will tell you it’s a month to month contract and you can cancel anytime verbally , but the contract is for 12 months . My 18 year old daughter did Not read the fine print . The gym was very apologetic which was nice but still took her money . There is a $200 early termination fee . Please read the contract before signing up .

Mike and his crew showed a great apperception that I was military and only here for a short time. He was very personable and made me feel comfortable coming to a new gym. Don't let them sweet talk you out of all your money. If you sign up for the 6-month membership, the money you pay the day you sign up does not count towards your 6 month membership. And you have a 30-day cancellation requirement that you can't do until after your membership is up without paying an early termination fee.. so that's another month on top of that. Your 6 months turns into 8. And don't miss one single payment for even a day or you're going to get charged extra. As a previous employee, I can tell you that they hardly train their personal trainers. They hired a friend of mine (with no experience or training) and threw him on the computer for a day and then told him he could start taking clients. That's who you're trusting with your health.

In order for someone to want to go to genesis as their gym I personally don’t feel comfortable going there now and here’s why. I looked online at the website to see the prices of their memebership plans. After that I get numerous calls about them saying they saw that I was interested and finally I answered and told them I was not interested but I was curious to see what the prices of their memberships where. After that a day later I wake up in the morning and see I have a little pamphlet on my car door with the same guys name on it that had called me.. and live at an apartment complex in which my car was the only one with anything on it and I don’t feel comfortable that they even found my car and knew which one was mine just to leave me something after I told them I was no longer interested.. I’m sorry but that is just too much.

Worst gym ever. Rude staff. I went there years ago and am just now writing this review because they keep calling me asking me to come back. There are so many hidden fees and they don't honor half the stuff on their "contract". Gym equipment and atmosphere is mid. I moved hours away and after fighting with the simp manager I was able to buy out my contract and they still kept charging my card for months. I ad to have my bank block their transactions.

This is my 56th gym I’ve been to across the states this is in the top 5 of my favorite.

Been going here since the early 2000s and I like the same things. The equipment and for the most part people are focused on their own thing which I really like. I like to go in , decompress with lifting or cardio without Unnecessary distractions. I do chat from time to time but some that have known me for ever and a day know how I am…. The gym and classes are decent, but beware and read every inch of your contract. I was told that if I moved, I could get out of my contract. Well, I got laid off and moved out of state 2 months early and went to cancel and they charged me $100 buyout as well as membership dues AFTER I cancelled. I called to see if I could get back any of the $170 for a gym that I was 10 hours away from and they told me no. So, make sure you fully read and question the contract 100% or you’ll be told one thing and actually have another thing happen.

I have been a member in Hutchinson since 2011. I lost 60 lbs and have no trouble keeping it off as I love working out with my "gym family". I have had 4 major surgeries on my knee and leg in last year. My fellow members and instructors have helped me stay motivated and to fight to accomplish physical therapy goals. I have been a Genesis member for a lot of years and have seen many changes in that time. The current management and staff is friendly, helpful and easy to work with. The equipment is maintained regularly and the maintenance staff is on top of issues that come up. The class schedule and equipment is diverse and should work for any fitness level. I recommend taking advantage of the “Try for Free” offer for anyone looking to exercise or for a class to join!

Horrible. By far the worse Genesis Health Club that I have been to. I’m from Kansas City so I was excited that there was a gym for me to keep in routine. Normal gym equipment nothing to brag about. What was the real disappointing factor for me was no dry sauna and the steam room they did have was not operational. Called staff and they said it was working and would send someone back to look at it. No one ever came. This place sucks. I will never come to this particular gym ever again.

This club is absolutly horrible. My son who was attending college in sterling cancelled his membership on April 1st has he was moving back home out of state. Here it is June 17th and they have since taken two more months of dues in the amount of $50.73 per month. I am now having to file fraud charges against this company as I have spoken to Ben (club manager) who has done nothing. I spoke to Heather in the Billing department whom also has done nothing and i have left multi voice messages for Colleen billing manager who has yet to return any phone calls. Run far away from this club they are horrible and are illegally withdrawing money out of accounts which have been cancelled.

I'm not one to complain about a business, ESPECIALLY on a public review (this is my first review I've ever done) but this experience has lead me to no other choice.

Also... is there not an option to have zero stars??? Because.......

1. They're rude and unprofessional.
2. When I tried to cancel my membership, TWO of them teamed up on me and literally didn't allow me to cancel it. They gave me 3 months free tanning, 2 "buddy passes" and a few training sessions. I explained that 1. I don't tan. It gives you cancer. 2. I'm a retired collegiate athlete, I know how to workout. 3. I don't need buddy passes.
3. I gave it another try and still decided that I didn't want to be there so when I went in to cancel AGAIN, it was a different guy and HE DID THE SAME THING. They try to persuade you with giving you some tanning or a couple training sessions. I finally said "No thank you. 4. I was NEVER told that I signed a year long contract but they insisted I did and they're charging me "either $150 or $250 I can't remember" (their words) because I'm breaking the contract AND an additional $40 for the next month........
5. When they found out I was going to get a membership at the YMCA, they told me, "everything is super outdated, why do you want to go there?" I explained that they had a better gym. He looked at me with the most dramatic, disgusted face and I said, "what? Your gym is so small." He said "Our gym is the best in town." I replied with, "It's literally 30ft x 30ft." And he said, "Oh. You mean our BASKETBALL GYM. Our GYM is our WEIGHT ROOM." ...... What? Then he proceeded to tell me "Good luck with the gym at the Y... it's all they have."

Completely unprofessional and ridiculously rude. I will never do business there again, nor will I suggest it to anyone.

Love the weight room.... but the sauna has been not working for weeks!!!!!! That is the main reason I got my membership!! Every time I call the employees say they are waiting on a part to come in, then I got told the part came in & they just had to install it, then a few days later I called back & they were "still waiting on the part". Ridiculous. Also got told by one of their own employees there is a new maintenance man and he doesn't know what he is doing at all. When the sauna WAS working, they would shut it off hours before the place closed & I like to go at night so I couldn't even use it then!! If you like just doing cardio & weights, this is the place for you. Don't get a membership expecting to use the sauna!!! AT ALL.

Would never sign up here. They are higher pressure sales than a bad car dealership. They have been calling for two years. They schedule appointments for you that you never agree to, then call repeatedly to ask why you didn't show. Then they get rude with you when you call them out on their tactics. It's a friggin gym membership... A really expensive one at that

This gym is super clean and the staff is amazing! I’m not exactly a “fitness guy,” but I felt really comfortable walking in to Genesis. Guy and Sarah (club and ops managers) have this place dialed in. Talk to Kathleen if you go, she’ll get you squared up right. I hear they have a solid spin instructor too!

Great passionate atmosphere created by the manager, Guy Ridpath; with extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff such as: Ben Luowig, Darryl Miller, and Sarah Vieyra! Very Clean facility with everything in one place. I was surprised that they had a full boxing bag and muay thai bag, which i normally would have to seek an alternative gym for such equipment. Everything from a Spa with Massages (i occasionally use for self preservation, especially after long trips). Every once in a awhile for me, Hot Yoga I found is good to strengthen my joins and stretch. Again, typically I would have to find a different place separate from the normal gym experience for this service. Finally, the steam room was great, if one wants the ability to obscure out the visibility enough to eliminate the view of your ugly gym buddy just 3 ft away, you can! This incredible steam room has the ability to not only make people more attractive BUT also creates the proper volcanic power to give a good weight cut in a timely manner! A great place for all around fitness with a great diversity and great protein and power shakes as well!

Great place to get a workout in. They have a vast variety of equipment from weightlifting to cardio. Plus the staff there are super friendly. Guy Ripath and Darryl Miller will help you with all you fitness needs. They even take the time to check in on you to see how things are going with your workout. I would happily recommend anyone in the area to try them out for your fitness needs.

If you are ever within a short drive I highly recommend this gym. The staff is extremely helpful and always greats you with a smile. The locker rooms are well kept and the lockers actually lock. They have a wide range of equipment for whatever your training desires. They have a wonderful daycare staff and my kids always look forward to stopped by when we’re in town!!

Genesis in Hutch has tons of classes for free, day care, racquetball basketball, executive locker rooms equipped with steam rooms, a lounge, towel service, they provide the lock for the lockers for you with all your toiletries, best equipment in town, huge free weight area, and the friendliness employees. This guy ROCKS!!!
