Was told not to return to this gym by Kim the front desk because I have what they consider a gold membership even though the gym I signed up at is considered to be platinum. This is the second time I have been disrespected by a front desk worker and I have been a member for over 5 years. I will be canceling my membership and going to crunch fitness.

Tennis manager is great! Very responsive! Overall club manager, not so sure… someone was trying to leave their dog in their car in the parking lot this hot summer and no one at the front desk would make a call about it. 😱 Never seen more fit gym community! Renovations were very good except for the forgotten bubble tennis courts and occasional leaking here and there main courts. Only big complaint for us who like to hang out after tennis is that they need to replenish mainstays at the bar (should always have things like tonic, club soda, fresh lemons and limes) and at least go back to having a variety of chips-some kind of carb or protein balls after 90 minutes of tennis! Their bar is one of their features in their lobby, but they can never seem to keep it stocked like a normal bar! 🙄

Went in there to help my mom and dad get signed up for memberships. Spoke to Ryan who was great in explaining and answering all of our questions regarding membership information. I do fitness for a living & travel around different gyms @ this place is one of the best gyms I’ve been to!! I travel here to KC often.
Perks:
- very polite, and welcoming environment/staff. Ryan was very helpful & signed me up with a promotion they had.. as well as the other trainers who were also very helpful & find certain gym equipment i needed.
- clean/well structured.
- big/spacious.
- old school as well as some modern machines, as well as a tennis club connected to it.
- they have every machine you could possibly want! (& multiple leg press machines)

No complaints. 12/10. Very pleased to become a member of the Genesis fam while visiting the area frequently. I look forward to come back & get a great workout in each time.

Last year I had a horrible experience at another Genesis location. It was not a clean and kept up facility and the manager was not a good person. I am now training for a tough mudder so I decided to give another location a chance. When I called Genesis Merriam Ryan was incredibly nice. Walking in, you notice right away how clean the facility is and everyone is so nice and helpful. Ryan is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. The trainers are so helpful and it’s an overall great experience. I joined my second visit and do not regret it in the least.

You'd be better off driving to the other side of the city if you actually plan on getting a workout in. You might get 2 lifts done in 2 hours. Either expand or build another one in the area. Doesn't matter what time you go. Always packed. 30 people wanting to use the sauna at any given time and there's room for maybe 5 people. I'll drive 10 miles to Overland Park before I drive 1 mile to this one

You said last year you would be cleaning, updating, and adding more lights to your bubbles, mainly the small bubble. It’s way too dark you lose the ball all the time while playing. The walls and courts are never maintained and always have visible dust/dirt covering them. Brand new balls are black within a few games of play.

But you charge the same amount as if playing on the nice courts? It’s never a good tennis experience playing in your small bubble, you’ve known about the issue year and year and keeping putting up the same bubble with thick dirt stains all over it again and again.

I had written a review with concerns and in response I received phone calls from management to address them. All my concerns were addressed and I appreciate everyone at Genesis for making the sidewalks and parking lot better in terms of the snow. Do not use this Gym. All they care about is taking your money. My girlfriend asked her trainer to cancel her membership and after he said he would, they continued to charge her account last month and again this month because they failed to tell her that she had to cancel it herself online and read the fine print. Even after getting Dave Butto(regional manager) involved and she explained they fraudulently stole her money from her account to which he said if there was nothing in writing that he couldn't do anything to refund HER money. They straight up stole her money from her account and Dave did absolutely nothing to refund it. All he did was use lawyer talk to essentially say its a "he said, she said" case and that he couldn't do anything. ALL they care about is taking your money. DO NOT USE GENESIS HEALTH CLUB. If you ever have this problem I suggest immediately calling your bank to dispute the charge as FRAUDULENT and get them to fight the charge for you because Genesis will do nothing about it.

I like genesis I was with them for a long time but my only issues with them is that there not 24 hour anymore, I actually canceled my membership with them because I was paying 50 a month and they couldn’t be 24 hour, THEY NEED TO BRING BACK THE 24 hour or at least be 24 hour Mon thru Friday that’s why I went to crunch, $15 a month and there 24 hour, you can’t beat that, if genesis in Merriam change there hours to at least 1am or 24 hour I’ll definitely come back in a heart beat

I have never used the gym except once during the "tour". I specifically said my main goal was to get my child into summer camp. I then had lost my job and was very specific that having a contract was not a priority. The questions I had were dodged at every attempt. They were only interested in enrolling me as a member. I was misled onto thinking I only had to pay for one month and I agreed. I have made many payments and I canceled today for this month. It's ridiculous that I have to pay for September as well.

Had my truck window pushed in on an attempted burglary a few weeks ago and then noticed someone pushed the back window completely out again last night. Luckily, I pulled the steel bars from the headrest up. Vehicle safety is becoming an issue at this location. Park out front under some form of light at the very least or go to a different location.

Went into the gym last night after work to get a quick workout in. I admired the way one of the staff supervisors remembered me from the last time I went. His name is Abraham and he greeted me with a warm welcome. It’s a great thing to be able to walk into your local gym and find that staff is welcoming. Well never go here again and definitely won't recommend. I told them I wanted to cancel and tried to do it over the phone and they told me I had to come in to the location and cancel 30 days before my membership up. Yall take my money online then tell me I can't cancel online. They called me some weeks ago and tried to make me pay for a full month of the gym that I didn't even use. I have not been in the gym since March but they want me to pay for april. I disputed my charges and changed my whole bank account. Blocked them on my phone because I asked them to stop calling me and she said I'll call back in 2 weeks and I changed my number. Don't harass me knowing I asked you not to. The staff is rude most days like they hate their job.

If you are looking to sign up or get a workout in i highly recommend scheduling with Alaina Alvarez one of the Member Service Advisors, I WAS A WALK IN! but she was kind enough to answer all my questions and fit me in her already booked schedule to tour the gym!, she explained all the Amenities the gym offers including all the group classes, i dint feel pressured at all!. This Location has all the equipment you need, decent size for a gym, dint feel like i had to wait a long time for machines to get my workout. The locker room was tidy so that's a plus for me, once i was done, i had to check out the bar and grab me a shake .

It's a great gym. From the moment you step in, you'll be greeted by very nice personal. I really enjoyed my subscription process. Gage was very professional and cordial. He answered all my questions and was always nice and very informative. I love the place!
