The owner appears more focused on celebrating 39 years in business, but seems to forget that the only reason he is still open is because of his members.
What was once a well-maintained private club known as Healthridge has now deteriorated into a run-down “Diamond Club.”
The parking lot has been in disrepair for years and should have been replaced long ago. Inside, there are no towels, the equipment is broken and outdated, and the HVAC system fails repeatedly—leaving no air conditioning in the summer and no heat in the winter. Even something as simple as a hairdryer hasn’t been replaced. I have a shake pass for the cafe but can’t even use it as it’s never staffed at the times they are stated they are open.
During Covid, they changed the hours, specifically, Saturday mornings and never changed them back. They need to be changed back to 6 AM. So people can utilize what they are paying for.
Most recently, you can’t even check in to the club, because of a broken system.
While, you can pay a quarter the price at crunch and have an apple pass and all brand new equipment.
This club has become the “red-headed stepchild,” and unfortunately, it shows.
But hey, you can have burger 🍔 and beer 🍺 in Wichita for 20 bucks to celebrate 39 years.

They call me about everyday to come in for a free workout. Then, when I finally made the long drive over, they told me they cannot give me a seven day pass, and I can’t even come inside because “idk the system has been down for like 3 days.” I understand that’s out of their control, but the girl at the front desk was rude about it. She said it’s too early in the morning anyways. She was texting on her phone without even looking up at me! Not Great customer service I felt extremely unwelcomed. 😢🤣 who cares though am I right.

The dedication to proving a wide range of classes, stellar instructors and a clean facility are the primary reasons I stay with Genesis. I would recommend it to anyone interested in improving their overall health.
Fast forward to August, 2025…new ownership took over a while back and the gym has gone to downhill fast. Parking lot with giant potholes, filthy towels, worn out equipment and one that takes the cake…the AC is broken as well as the backup system. The few fans that have been brought in just circulate hot, humid air. It’s like working out in an oven! This puts members at risk for heat related illness. Oh, and in the winter you freeze (wearing jackets during workouts is not fun). I’m so disappointed in this gym, they should be ashamed of themselves for treating their members this way. Thankful there are other locations, maybe not the same class offerings but hopefully cooler.

No air conditioning again today at Ridgeview (current heat index is 105), as before the temporary leased units were installed. Asked several employees about it but most had no idea. One employee stated that lease on temporary AC units had expired but that “rooftop unit is working”. That isn’t improving things, and this is an intolerable condition. Unfortunately, it is consistent with other experiences with Genesis. The cardio equipment is always in varying stages of disrepair. Early this year I was told by fitness staff that repairs would commence in the spring. In the second quarter a maintenance worker told me that repairs were impossible because the equipment is out of production and repair parts are unavailable but that brand new replacement machines would be installed in the summer. Summer is rapidly disappearing. My wife and I are long-term Genesis members who left during Covid because of unacceptable conditions at the Ridgeview facility. We rejoined in recent years hoping that things had changed, but it is appearing that we should again reconsider our decision.

I had recently visited this location to consider a membership as it is conveniently located near my office. Before I even went inside I was greeted with a parking lot that resembled a Kansas City Missouri road after a harsh winter. Crazy amount of patchwork, crumbling curbs, mounts of rock and dirt in parking stalls. I noticed that the trash bin on the side blocked the sidewalk because there is a bunch of trash behind the bin. I guess the trash guy said screw it, leaving it right here. Finally before even hitting the door I noticed the side walk on the other side of the building was blocked by what appears to be a giant "temporary" air conditioning unit with a bunch of tubes going into the building. Half the cold air is escaping through the numerous holes in the duct work. Water is running everywhere. I shook my head and talked with a lady who had just worked out. She said to run away as fast as I could. Repeated issues with broken down equipment, water stained ceilings. A mulched walking trail around the building that was washed out from a storm a month ago, etc. Think I am going to pass.

I’ve been a member for two years and unfortunately can’t recommend this gym due to long standing issues. The HVAC has been broken for years, making it miserably hot in summer and freezing in winter. Roof leaks, flooding, and poor maintenance are ongoing problems. It often smells, towels are rarely stocked, and the pool stays cold from constant hose refills due to an underground leak they won’t fix. Equipment breaks and isn’t repaired, the gym floor itself is a mess of trash, equipment thrown everywhere and not replaced and dirty towels. Cosmetic upgrades are prioritized over real improvements. The family locker rooms and kids’ center are outdated and poorly maintained. The parking lot is also dangerous in the winter it’s rarely cleared of snow or ice, making it risky if not impossible to navigate. The large pot holes were recently “fixed” but not adequately, they look awful! The only reason I stay is because of my trainer, Terry Gann, he delivers real results and keeps me coming back despite the gym’s many shortcomings.

I’ve belonged here for 13 years. The air conditioner is “broken” every summer. The weight machines have NEVER been replaced. It needs to be deep cleaned and honestly probably checked for mold. *I continue to go because it’s the closest gym to my house & I like being around familiar faces and friends. Hopefully all of the recent negative spotlight will finally spark a real change. This is a “diamond club”, please make it worth our money!!!!

I have been a member and currently still am a member of Genesis Ridgeview. I stopped emailing Genesis reviews directly, so my hope is that management starts taking our member requests seriously if we band together and tank the rating here on Google.
Member and staff requests (for over 5 yrs) have been ignored related to our failed air conditioning and heating system. And I believe many staff (who you employ Rodney Stevens II) are being hurt by your non-action. Is it too much to ask that the Genesis Ridgeview facility come with 'basic' amenities, so staff can work comfortably and promote their businesses well? Their clients expect and pay for air conditioning and heating, and a safe parking lot (not one with constant orange cones and potholes)...at the bare minimum. But how about working equipment (the cables are tethered and old on the cable machines and pose a liability risk); cardio treadmills are often out of order and I honestly don't know which machines on the weight floor will be operating each week. This club poses a lawsuit risk for your corporation because having elderly members working out & possibly collapsing in 80 degree heat, or a child in the childcare facility playing and having heat exhaustion are the risks I guess don't bother you.
It is really sad I have to post the reality here on Google, but I've seen the corporate management walk around our facility, like they are going to do something, when nothing changes. If you care about your Genesis desk staff, training staff, fitness professionals and its members, it's time you stop emailing us that you're going to fix something, and we still see no action. (Yes, I got the email today about the order for the AC compressors.)
Don't reply to me...take action for us. Don't reach out to me or talk to me. TAKE ACTION and fix the problems. Don't visit our facility every 4 months to pretend you're showing up for staff. TAKE ACTION. Or you will end up with a member or staff getting hurt and filing a lawsuit.

I've been a Genesis member for over 10 years and will no longer go to this location. The summer heat has made it unbearable without a functioning AC system. It's humid, sticky, smelly and HOT. And this is the case every summer. It's also freezing in the winter because the entire HVAC system needs to be replaced.
The parking lot is a disaster and has needed a full re-surface for several years now. They just keep patching holes and adding cones so you don't pop a tire.
The equipment is showing serious wear and tear. Several treadmills don't work, lots of out of order signs, and there are workout benches missing bolts.
Save yourself the money on this level of membership and find another location or another gym

This gym is supposed to be one of their premier gyms yet it’s the nastiest one of them all. From moldy floors to incomplete upgrades to broken machines all over the place it’s embarrassing I pay so much to go here!! There is a line of treadmills in the back of the cardio section and out of 10 treadmills 2 work. And don’t get me started on the HVAC system in this place. It’s literally 80-90 degrees in here in the summer and it seems they don’t fix it until someone dies!! SAVE YOUR MONEY!!

For a gym to be functional you only need a variety of weights. However, my understanding is that this is a “premium” Genesis location. There is nothing premium about the upkeep of the facility though, with consistently deteriorating equipment. The employees are very nice, but customer service is not a priority at a gym.
Updated to move down to 2-stars. This raggedy place let the AC go out lmao. And it’s been a few weeks. At some point it becomes my fault for sticking around but, just know there are much better options for potential gym-goers.

I give it three stars as it has potential. The deferred maintenance is unreal. Specifically due to the fact they made a solid investment several years ago but clearly much still to do. AC hasn’t worked since last year, men’s sauna hasn’t been reliable since before the pandemic. Recently “fixed” yet still does not work properly. Half of the weight equipment is out of date and barely functional. And yes, the parking lot is like driving through a war zone. We don’t know anything as members either about when all this stuff will be fixed. I wonder what they tell new members?
I love the location, trainers, instructors, classes etc, just can’t fathom that this “premiere” club is being ignored.

If you want a perfect example of BAD business, join this gym. It will be hard to find worse corporate leadership. My review is the same saga as every other long-time member here. AC is broken. Has been since last summer. Equipment is broken. Parking lot is broken. You get the trend. They refuse to fix anything but continue to charge premium prices.

Long time member, since back when this was Healthridge. Machine maintenance is sporadic at best, parking lot is like a war zone with twisted asphalt, and air conditioner goes out for extended periods in summer. Right now the exercise area is without air conditioning for at least a month! Get it together.

This place has been going downhill for quite some time but it's bottom of the barrel now. No AC, no Towels (yep you get to sit on sweaty benches), ancient and broken equipment, drive at your own risk parking lot and nobody seems to care. All you hear is, new equipment coming, AC will be fixed, etc., but it's all talk as nothing changes. Used to be such a great place but it's pretty trashy now unfortunately.

Ending our membership after over 2 years for a failure of corporate leadership not fixing the HVAC system. From negative temperatures and seeing our breath in the winter, to 82 degrees in the facility this summer when it’s 65 degrees outside, unable to complete my workout. Fitness is important, but safety is more important. Genesis prides themself in being a “members first experience,” but at this DIAMOND club, I find that to be very far from the truth. This is a huge disrespect and HAZARD to your employees, your members, and especially the high risk populations (Silver Sneakers, those who work with developmental disorders, other health conditions). Heat exhaustion and dehydration are huge risks in Midwest summers and we haven’t even hit the worst of it. Rodney and his corporate team failed this location. Equipment needs replaced, parking lot is a disgrace, and the many issues cause gym community morale to be lowered. I’ve reached out via email, phone calls, and there’s been no response. We will take our business to a true luxury gym— Lifetime Fitness and gladly will pay more.

**Disappointing Decline: My Gym’s 15-Year Journey to Neglect**
I've been a loyal member of this gym for 15 years, through ownership changes and supposed "improvements." When the new owners took over, they spent money on cosmetic upgrades—paint and superficial fixes—giving the illusion of repairs, but nothing truly changed.
For five years, I’ve waited for a new AC and heating system, hoping that the comfort level would finally match the price of membership. Instead, the gym remains unbearable for most of the year. At 6 a.m., when it’s only 70 degrees outside, the gym is already **80 degrees and humid with zero air circulation**. Their version of "air conditioning"? A few fans that barely move the thick, sticky air. Walking in, you immediately feel the suffocating heat, and even the staff seem drained and miserable. Corporate recently visited, heard the complaints, and **shot down the possibility of a new AC**—which means August will be even worse.
And if you think summer is bad, **winter is just as miserable—only the opposite problem**. The gym’s airflow is so poor that the inside becomes **freezing**, to the point where dumbbells are painfully cold to the touch. You literally have to wear **outdoor gloves** just to lift weights because the metal is so ice-cold it hurts your skin.
It’s not just the climate control that's failing—**broken equipment sits untouched for months**, ignored by management. Two machines have been down for three months now with no sign of repair. The parking lot is a **pothole-riddled mess**, and every attempt at fixing it involves cheap patchwork that crumbles within weeks. Even the **handicap section is dangerously uneven**, posing a serious fall risk.
Today, I’m finally cancelling my membership. It’s clear that corporate sees this "diamond" club as nothing more than a cash grab, refusing to bring it up to even a **basic** standard. It’s heartbreaking, especially since I love the dance classes here—but there's absolutely no way to enjoy them in a **80-degree, airless room**.
If you value a functional gym with proper maintenance and climate control, look elsewhere. The ownership has made it clear that member comfort is the least of their priorities.

I've been a member here for nearly 10 years. It started going downhill after Genesis took over, and now all the problems are really coming to a head. It's become clear the owners are too cheap to maintain or fix anything. There are rarely clean towels available. The parking lot needs to be re-paved - instead, they're just patching the biggest potholes, and doing a poor job of it. I'd say about 75% percent of the equipment is breaking down or broken, and broken equipment just gets take away instead of replaced - they're down to one rowing machine in the entire gym. And the biggest problem is the constantly broken air conditioning. It has been broken for weeks, and they say
"they're deciding on a solution." I don't know what's to decide - it's broken, so it needs to be fixed. That just tells me they're just looking for a way to cheap out and not have to pay for proper AC. Which is no surprise - the last several summers, it has been really hot inside; they obviously just don't want to pay to cool the place down like they should.
I will give credit where it's due - the classes are great. The cardio dance classes in particular have fantastic instructors. And the outdoor pool is a perk in the summer.
However, I don't know how they have the gall to charge as much as they do for a membership, considering all of the above problems and the fact that the Olathe Community Center is just down the road and is much nicer for about half the price of a Genesis membership.

Update! Two years later the AC is still broken. 80 degrees and extremely humid. I’m sure they are still working on it like they say every year. We get the same response every summer, “oh we are working on it, and the tech is waiting on parts”. Maybe it’s time they invest in a new system that actually works. If I could give less than 1 star, I would. I guess I’m the idiot that continues to pay to come to this mismanaged gym. Whomp whomp.
Very disappointed! The Ridgeview location has not had a properly working AC all summer. They continuously insist that it is working or will be fixed soon. It seems to work for a few days in certain areas of the building, keeping the overall temperature “tolerable”, then stops working altogether for weeks. Today the temperature on weight floor was 76 degrees and very humid. Considering the expensive monthly membership fee I pay to belong to this gym, I would expect at least the facility to have a working AC. I’m sure they are going to respond to this and state that the AC will be fixed soon, but I have heard that at least four times since early June. It’s becoming clear that Genesis does not want/plan to invest into the facility for a properly working AC.

The gym is very poorly maintained. The air conditioner has been broken to begin the summer every year for 5+ years and usually doesn’t get working till late June or July. The front desk tells me to go to another gym after I pay extra for the Ridgeview location. Several pieces of the equipment are always in need of repair and the sauna, steam room, and hot tub break several times a year.

This club is absolutely trash. Please walk and see for yourself. The first thing that you will notice is grave size holes in the parking lot, which they appear to be getting fixed by some local friends that have no business working with asphalt. Next walk inside you’ll find definitely discovered ceiling tiles stained from roof issues but more importantly what will hit you right off the bat is the lack of AC or humidity removal. Every day I go in there it is 80+ degrees because they refuse to spend money on the AC. They also refuse to spend money on having any 45lb plates. Equipment is always broken. Any given day an incline bench will be missing a cushion or the back will slide out from underneath, pins missing from machines, bolts laying around that have fallen off of machines, padding cracked and missing leading to having to put a towel over it, this is if you CAN EVEN GET A TOWEL! Meanwhile the owner is trying to not pay taxes, where is our annual fee going? I think we all know.

We have been members at this gym for ten years and once again summer has hit and the air conditioning is broken. This has been an issue for the last five summers at least. It takes over two billing cycles to cancel your membership as well.

My boyfriend and I just moved to the KC area. We belonged to another Genesis in our hometown that’s a platinum level (this gym is a diamond level, so we’d have to upgrade) we’re currently gym “shopping”. Staff is super kind and helpful! Amenities are great and lots of machines. Previous reviews i’ve read have complaints that machines are old.. that is true, hence the 4 stars.
We’re a couple in our 20s with no children, therefore i don’t think we’d take full advantage of this genesis’s amenities. i highly recommend this gym to families with kids of all ages because of all of the great amenities and features. solo adults and couples, kinda depends on your priorities and regimen.

Highly disappointed in the facility parking lot with massive potholes and craters. Very unsafe to walk through the parking lot. On the lower level, many of the machines are in poor condition and they're stacked right next to each other like sardines in a can. In some areas you can't even walk between the machines without getting your body caught on one of them. Not the kind of place that I prefer. Due to their age and lack of maintenance, I made a decision to not work out of this club. Even the cardio machines on the upper level have many defects and unmaintained issues. Would like to see management - owners invest a little bit of money into their club, especially for the rate they charge the public for monthly memberships

We use this facility and while at first it was under a lot of construction, it has turned out to be a very nice facility. It can’t be easy taking care of a facility this size. Lots of open space. My only nag at this point comes from working out at the facility in Overland Park and comparing it to this one. The Ridgeview facility while nice, has old equipment and is in dire need of an equipment refresh. The facility in OP has much nicer equipment overall.

Equipment needs attention. Having had the pleasure of using several Genesis facilities, I don’t feel like there is anything premier about this one. It’d be at the lower end in comparison to several others. Hope that changes.

We were members back when it was Healthridge for a couple of years but left when we moved a little further away. After about a 10-year break and trying several other gyms in the meantime, we realized none of them were quite the right fit. So, we decided to come back to what is now Genesis, and I’m so glad we did!
It’s amazing to see that several of the same staff members who were here when we left are still working here—how cool is that?! It’s such a testament to the great atmosphere and culture at this gym. The staff is fantastic—always friendly, upbeat, and ready to chat with me and my family. They really make us feel welcome every time we walk through the doors, and that personal connection is something I truly appreciate.
The gym’s layout is another big reason I love it here. The design is open and spacious, with a great view of everything. I especially enjoy the boxing classes—they’ve become one of my favorite parts of my workout. Plus, the indoor track is fantastic! I love how it overlooks the whole gym, so I can take in the atmosphere while getting my miles in.
Another feature I really appreciate is the lap lanes in the pool. They’re never super busy, so I can get in a solid swim without feeling crowded or rushed. It’s a great way to mix up my routine, and I never have to worry about waiting for a lane.
As for the locker rooms, they’re clean and well-maintained. My only small suggestion would be to keep the towels inside the locker room itself rather than having to grab them on the way in, but honestly, that’s a minor detail for me.
Overall, coming back to Genesis Health Club feels like coming home. It’s a place where I feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely excited to work out. I love it here, and I’m so glad we decided to return!

Ehh... took a chance and left Planet Fitness. Thought for 5x the price and a bigger facility I would get a better experience. I wish both gyms would take some time to watch the dumbbell / benches area. Please add more! If that's your thing, don't even bother trying right after work, around 5pm. There's literally a line behind every bench. Not to mention it seems like this place is where all the old equipment from other gyms goes to die. Half the padding of the circuit machines is completely gone or torn. Some of the benches scare the hell out of me to lay on. They did an amazing job on the locker room renovation though! I would highly suggest doing the 7 day free pass before signing up. And beware of the hard sell on the personal training.

I joined this gym and was outlined all the amenities and pros of the club. I soon started learning that this club was lacking staff, cleaning and the amenities. First the gym seldom opens on time and one day they opened 30 minutes late. The smoothie shop is only open for limited hours and during the day when most people are at work. The majority of their classes are between 8-4 again when most people are at work. I was told they were updating when I joined but you can see by the pictures 2 months later nothing has changed. I have never seen the facility be cleaned and when I would come in at 5am the locker rooms, sauna, and steam rooms were disgusting with possible mold. I think only one water fountain actually works in the building and its not cold. The building is always very hot like they don’t turn the air on until they open around 5am. Only ½ the shower heads work appropriately the other half has leaks and low pressure. The equipment is old and outdated with the weight amounts missing which makes it difficult to know what you are lifting. They charge over a $100 for training which I thought was expensive for using a gym specific trainer. The sauna, steam room, and spa have never worked appropriately there is always one broken down or not working. There was a light that blinks over the cardio equipment that has been like that for two months. I know some of these issues are small but for paying over $100 per month membership I expect more. If you are not going to clean your facility at least make sure you provide towels as promised with membership so we can clean them our self. When I brought up the issues the GM Chris asked me time to resolve after two weeks and no changes I asked to cancel and they hit me with the $200 cancellation fee and since it was after the time my monthly came out they wanted me to pay another month on top of that. Their tactics are sneaky and very sales orientated and do not provide what they advertise. I am willing to pay that because this place is very dirty and when they never clean with flu season coming upon us I don’t want to get sick.

As hundreds of others have already stated, the biggest issue with this Genesis location is maintenance and facility issues are not addressed well. I’ve been a member here for 8 years. The group fitness instructors are WONDERFUL and if it weren’t for them and the friends I’ve made in class, I’d leave to join Lifetime fitness like throngs of others have. The ongoing air conditioner that fails to work for months of the year is my biggest frustration. When we inquire, we’re always told “they’re working on it.” Eight years later and apparently it’s still not an issue that can be solved!? Today when I dropped my kids off at kids club, it was 90 degrees. It honestly felt unsafe leaving my children there because of the heat. Last summer there was a 3 week period I had to stop coming to the gym because it was so hot in kids club that my baby was overheating. My workout was miserably hot and I find myself wondering why I continue to pay good money for broken equipment and poorly maintained facilities.

Towels are out again and nobody can clean the equipment again, which by the way is still broken weeks after my original review. Guess I will be sweating all over the equipment with no way to clean it Going to find a better gym. Reducing to 1 star.
Gym is ok for the most part. The only issues I have are that a lot of the cardio equipment seems to be broken and there is always a shortage of the smaller towels so that means that people are unable to clean the equipment. For what I pay a month, I expect that there should be an adequate supply of towels. Also, the bottom level floods occasionally and they make little effort to remove the water in a timely manner. The bottom level always smells bad where the water intrusion has occurred.

Be careful. I gave my 30 days notice to freeze my account on March 2024. April would be the last month I would have been charged the fully amount. Long history short, May and June I was fully charged and after calling multiple times, just today finally the General Manager told me; sorry but because your notification was over the phone there was some confusion and that's why you have been charged for two months. I asked for a refund but they told me there is no way to gave my money back!
By the way, god forbid you of getting sick or a emergency because the only way to cancel or freeze your membership is to fill out a form in the facility. Even if you out of town you need to send a certificate letter for the cancelation or freez

The Genesis location on Ridgeview is one I use sparingly. I found out today this location is “premium” which was definitely a surprise to me. The other two locations I use in the area are in much better conditions with much better facilities: Merriam and North Kansas City. The issues I have with the Ridgeview facility: the parking lot is in a complete state of disrepair; the weight equipment is dated and in need of repair everywhere but the CrossFit room; weights are scattered and unorganized; water fountains aren’t located throughout and are often not working (especially in the weights section); water fountains don’t have bottle fillers; locker rooms are inconveniently placed; the warmup area (turf) is tiny and crowded; and the overall layout is poor.
This leads me to my post. When I go to this facility, it is out of necessity, not due to desire. I was met today with a $5 up charge, after coming half a dozen times over a year or so with no up charge. The front desk attendant, Roger, was unwilling to answer questions and was unprofessional. He couldn’t tell me when it changed, what in the gym had changed to warrant the level of the gym, and overall non-commutative.
Unfortunately and ultimately, I decided to end my Genesis membership and go elsewhere. I’ve been on the fence for a while, but this location and the interaction with Roger sealed the deal. He seems well liked and respectful to most. I wish he would have given me the same professional courtesy.

I can't even begin to express my sheer delight and satisfaction with the outstanding customer service I received over the phone today from the new GM, Chris. Ever since becoming a member at Genesis, I've struggled with constant issues logging into my online portal or being placed on endless hold, only to eventually be left hanging without any real assistance. But today was like a breath of fresh air - the moment I called, the phone was answered right away by Chris, who swiftly and seamlessly helped me log into my long-inaccessible portal within mere seconds. Not only that, he caringly reminded me that I had some credit left to see a personal trainer, and instantly scheduled my very first appointment to finally start working with one. I'm absolutely over the moon with excitement to commence my fitness journey! In today's challenging era, it's become exceptionally rare to find such attentive, thoughtful, and truly helpful customer service. Yet Chris embodied that lost art today, providing me with all the info I needed and more. His simple acts of patience and care have restored my faith that outstanding service does still exist out there. I could not be happier or more satisfied to be a Genesis member after my experience today - it was beyond anything I could have imagined. Chris turned an otherwise frustrating situation into one leaving me grinning from ear to ear. I just can't thank him enough for that reminder that personal, thoughtful service is not a thing of the past after all.

I have been a member of Healthridge and thus Genesis since it opened. The facility is nice but had gotten a little run down. There have been a significant amount of physical improvements. However, the biggest change I have noticed is drastically improved leadership over the last few months. Update: 4-12-24. Edit: Probably been close to 3 months and this important piece of equipment is STILL broken. The equipment here is really bad and the owners seem to have zero desire or urgency to fix anything.
The staff here is terrific, but the equipment is old, worn down and often broken. I have seen cables snap when people have been using machines and cables are often frayed. Certain equipment goes weeks and weeks without being repaired. Benches are old, cracked and broken. The water fountains are old and often out of order. They don’t even have the ones where you can fill the bottle upright even after multiple requests. Locker room is nice and updated. The parking lot is absolutely atrocious with massive holes all over. Seems with some of the newer facilities and competition around the ownership would take notice they are losing people because of lack of keeping equipment updated.

My name is Carson, I give in depth reviews on gyms in the KC area. I mainly focus on Genesis. Today you will be hearing about my experience at “Genesis- Olathe Ridgeview”
First impressions… WOW!! This place is massive and seems very up to date. Unfortunately the front desk made me pay 5 dollars as my membership wasn’t “up to par” with the gym level, so this set a very high standard.
Now, it’s time to find the locker room. Uhhhh, where is it? Took me about 5 min to find it. Not sure if it was a me problem or a common problem so I won’t let that affect the review. The locker room was located near the MASSIVE pool, this in my opinion is one of the highlights of the gym. This pool boasts 6 lanes and another pool for water aerobics or open swimming. I’m a BIG fan.
Now, onto the equipment. This is the low point of the gym. The weight training equipment is extremely outdated and hard to understand. Many machines were out of service or missing pieces. The benches need a refresh, but the dumbbells are okay. The cardio equipment also seems like it’s in good condition.
Notable things to add: the large track is fantastic especially when comparing to the other Genesis locations in the area. The basketball court and boxing “arena” were also very nice.
Overall I give this gym a 4/5, they have great amenities, the gym seems up to date, but the equipment unfortunately brings down from that 5 star rating as I was trying to have a “cheat day” and got very frustrated with the equipment.

Too bad about facilities since they still have old machinery and unprofessional staff, the afternoon aquatic gymnastics teacher banned me in a very rude way to enter the pool with my son during his class, although more than half of the pool was free, I don't think it's correct and also doesn't say that it's exclusively for those who take that class if it doesn't affect their spaces, in addition the other pool is too cold to have a nice time, the family dressing rooms are in bad condition the showers don't work and they There is a lack of cleaning, the facilities and the best trained staff in the kids club should also be improved, since they do not know how to entertain and calm the children. They really must take action on the matter and improve this and other things in their facilities since we are not one or two people with disagreements, in case attention and speedy improvement thank you

Terrible corporation, treats customers poorly. I've been a member for 5+ years. The lap pool heater at Ridgeview only works half the time. After 2 years of politely asking for it to be fixed, I'm working with the BBB to see if action can be taken.
The only reason I joined was to lap swim, and the Ridgeview club has a 25m pool that should be heated to around 80 degrees, as per company policy. The heater is routinely broken, but Genesis is happy to take my money every month while they advertise a lap pool. Corporate will not lower my dues and refuses to fix the lap pool heater. They do not care about customers. Their refusal to lower my dues by $35/month tells me the company is in poor financial shape. DO NOT sign any type of contract with them because you may be left without a gym to use in the future.

Update 2/27/24
Today on Tuesday February 27 I cut my finger open on dated equipment. If the facility wants me to be more specific it's your 60lb EZ curl bar on The left grip. I see this place updating everything else but when it comes to the weight area it's dated. The equipment isn't cared for or obviously checked but they charge around 80$ a month to be a member. If you want to swim or do aerobics it's a great place but when it comes to weights or cable machines you might want to go somewhere else. And what's sad is every negative comment about this place is the dates equipment and they still do nothing about it. Maybe they should listen to there members, but they only want positive feedback. Pitiful
Decent gym but very dated equipment. I feel like funds should have been focused at least partially on updating equipment versus a full rebuild of the locker rooms. I have been a member of Genesis for years and honestly this is probably the worst facility I've seen. Staff is great but the company should probably invest in updated equipment.

This location has gone from bad to worse. It is bad to the point that now there is members smoking marihuana on the parking lot and probably inside the gym. There has been multiple times when the locker-rooms smell like marihuana and also the hallway that leads to the basketball court. It sucks because it used to be a good place years ago when it used to be Healthridge Fitness but genesis is letting it go downhill. They did a good job with the locker room remodeling, but we are still having the same issues as before such as broken or missing parts of equipment, NO CLEAN TOWELS on the gym area and locker rooms, dirty floors and dirty restrooms. Staff is rude and lazy. They care more about their phones than their jobs. Stuff also goes missing, so don’t leave any belongings unattended!

UPDATE: It's 1/21/2024, and the "warm" pool is still not at maximum temperature level - even in this extremely cold weather we've been having recently. Then we add in the air conditioning which still appears to be going constantly in the pool area, and it's very unpleasant to swim here. The "warm" pool is probably ok for kids and teenagers at this lukewarm temperature, but for people with arthritis and other joint issues, it's very unpleasant. Maybe folks with arthritis & joint issues are an afterthought to management. I don't know. I am considering canceling my family membership when eligible to do so, as the "warm" pool is the main reason I got the family membership in the first place.
I have had a Family membership at this particular facility since late Summer 2023. I joined primary because of the "warm" indoor pool, as I have bad arthritis in my knees and use the "warm" pool for exercise. This is a very nice facility with many amenities. However...in the past month the "warm" pool has not been very warm. I can understand why during the Summer it may be necessary to keep the water in the "warm" pool at a temperature that is below the maximum allowable temperature. But now that it is late-Fall/almost Winter and it's cold outside, can management PLEASE keep the pool water in the "warm" pool at 90 degrees - especially if you are still going to have the air conditioning going throughout the facility in the Winter. The other patron who was in the "warm" pool tonight mentioned that the water was cool as well, so it is not just me who thinks this. I pay almost $200.00/month for a family membership here, but once the membership goes month-to-month I may cancel here if this situation continues. We shall see.
