Nothing is ever open. Employees not there until noon. If you call for help to turn on lights, not a single person knows how to do so. I had to rely on another customer to turn on lights in the panel. The gym and pools are frequently unavailable due to be rented out. Bathrooms not open until noon.

So if I cancel , you can only do that in March but since I canceled you won’t. Let me in but still charging me?!! This is horrible business. Not to expect less. The manager Scott has been a pain for months,reason I canceled, ( was told to golf somewhere else and not to touch his desk!) but now I can’t even use the facilities until it’s complete and canceled? I don’t care to go back but if I want to use the gym , and still pay monthly fees but not allowed back in? lol I will ask for reimbursement for services not used if thats The case and let me out . I will continue this again and again if not addressed , don’t be lazy! I’ve been paying for years!

I really like the location and wish it was 24 hours. The equipment at this location generally always seems to be in working order, and love the pool. I do wish there was a little more variety in free weight equipment, but I nice gym overall! Bonus for the females is that there is a women’s only center. Also love that there is a play room so I can bring my kids with me every once in awhile.

Extremely unclean in the hot tub and sauna area ... dirt and grime filled the bottom of the tub it was like stepping on sand every step. Then in the wet sauna I watch a gentle man take a bucket in and began shaving and grooming himself . Absolutely disgusting. The women's locker room was decent.. old.and out dated along.with all of the.machines upstairs in the women's only area . The showers were extremely cold. And the women's dry sauna has benches falling apart and broken to where it is dangerous to sit. Apparently management has been notified but hasdone nothing about this location . Absolutely gross

Extremely unclean. The facility had a lot to offer but the quality of everything is sub-subpar. Mens locker room is disgusting. Bugs, trash, dirty toilets. Not to mention the mold. Everywhere I look, theres mold or water damage. Staff is indifferent. Neither rude nor friendly.

This is the filthiest gymnasium I've ever seen or worked with. The men's locker and shower area are not cleaned or maintained virtually at all. On many occasions I've seen dead roaches lying in the shower drains the size of my thumb that were still there a week and a half later. The hot tub was broken down for months on end with no apologies or real explanation. The last time I was there I noticed electrical wiring exposed in all of the fluorescent lighting units above the men's showers where it could very easily get wet. Apparently they must have worked on or replaced these lights and were too cheap to buy sealed light fixtures with sealed or recessed witing that meets building and electrical code for wet locations. I.E. they are too cheap to do it to code or are not competent enough to know the difference. Either way, this is extremely dangerous and negligent. Ask them about their ADA violations 3 years ago where they effectively shut out everyone with mobility issues, forcing everyone to use a flight of winding stairs to enter the main gym facilities. People vehemently complained. Nothing was done and these members could not cancel their "contracts" despite not even being able to access the gym! Most of the members left and It took filing and proceeding with a formal ADA accessibility complaint with the United States Department of Justice to get them to remedy the situation for those who could not use the stairs, despite dozens of verbal and written complaints. The smart a** manager in his early 20's would sneer and say "If you don't like it, fill out a comment card."
I recently noticed that my membership price doubled without notice. When I called to cancel I was told I could not cancel until the membership expired in 11 more months and that I had to pay for the remainder of the year.
I am sending the City of Topeka photos of their lighting and filing a formal city code complaint about the electrocution hazard before someone gets seriously injured or is killed.
Spend a little more and go to a real gym that is safe and clean and treats you with respect. Based upon my experience, Great Life is only after your money and cares about nothing else.

Pretty disappointed.Drove 40 miles to go to Great Life. I haven't been able to visit Great life for over a month now because of surgery. Doc. Finally allows me to get in hot tub. Anyhow after the drive I find out hot tub is broken down. So go to another location. Hot tub broken down there. Really tempted to drop my membership. Ironically a few year back.I had a differant surgery and the exact same thing happened to me. I complained then and received no reply. So not overly impressed with management. In fact found it nearly impossible to communicate with management above the local branch manager's.

I moved here from Colorado, and GreatLife is the best value in Topeka--weights, saunas, whirlpool, swimming, 24 hour access at fitness centers all around town--these are just some of what I use. During the covid shutdown the locker rooms were refurbed w/ painting and lighting all improved--on top of the saunas and cooling system previously upgraded. Keep it up!

I was lied to.

When I enrolled I asked specifically "so this membership gets me access to everything in this building right? The premium memberships are only for golfing and using other facilities?" She said "yes". Then that same day when I went to use the raquetball courts, the same lady told me that they are only for premium members and I'd need to pay extra to use them.

She just straight up lied and like, didnt even care about it.

Not worth the money. Has the same equipment as every other gym in town. What was unique about the place was that it was the only gym in town that had a steamroom, dry sauna and whirlpool. The dry sauna has been "out of order" for over a year. The whirlpool has been non working for a couple of weeks. The showers have been cold for several weeks. The place is filthy. I walked out the other day and a huge cockroach was crawling up the front of the bank of lockers where by clothes were. There is absolutely no sense of urgency to fix anything. I had continued my membership when this group took over from the Y. I just cancelled my membership. They don't care about customers.
