I'm not exactly sure how often things are maintained or what exactly has happened but the quality has gone downhill like crazy over the past few months. Almost all the treadmills are in a horrible state of maintenance. They either have the fans broken, shake like crazy when on or flat out don't work. Hugely disappointing from what it once was.

Planet Fitness charges a "cancellation fee" when you close your account. This is an unethical practice. I only went to their gym twice, and then had to relocate to a completely different city. Their cancellation fee is unjustified and unethical.

One of the cleanest and most well-organized gyms I’ve ever joined. The equipment is modern and well-maintained, and there’s never a long wait to use machines, even during peak hours. I’ve been a loyal member of Planet Fitness Shawnee since they opened over a decade ago, but the decline in competence and accountability here is staggering. I canceled my membership in person on 4/26—signed their e-doc and was told my membership would end on 5/17. On 5/19, I was still charged.

When I called, they suddenly had the ability to cancel over the phone—funny, since I was told it had to be done in person. Turns out the employee who processed my cancellation entered it for three months out. I was promised a manager would call me that day. I had to call the next day and talked to assistant manager who told me there was no note. When the manager finally called back (she told me there was a note left the first time, but she “forgot” to call), she refused to refund me because I didn’t have email confirmation—despite the fact that her own staff mishandled it. She had the ability to fix the issue and simply chose not to. No apology. No ownership. No clue.

I had to contact my bank and dispute the charge myself—because basic customer service is apparently too much to ask.

The manager operates with the energy of someone who Googled “how to be in charge” and stopped at step one. Unqualified, unbothered, and completely unfit to lead. If Planet Fitness cares at all about its reputation, replacing her would be a great place to start. I have been in management for many years and they must be really desperate to fill that spot if that is who they chose.

I love coming here. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are plenty of machines, so even if you have to wait for a weight machine, it's not long. I have never had an issue with anyone else in the gym. Everyone minds their own business, and it is excellent. There are no crazy selfie people, no guys dropping barbells with a big bang; it's just a calm, low-key atmosphere. It's the best gym in the area for a great price.

I am changing my original review from a 5 star a year ago to 1 star. I was charged twice this year for the annual fee. When I called about it the first time the person that answered was very nice and told me to go into the club and explain to them what happened and they could fix it. I went into the club, the gentleman at the front desk was also pleasant took down my information and said the mgr was in a meeting and would call me back. Never heard from her. I called the next day and the call center put me through to Tia the club mgr. She was very rude. Saying she had put the request in but it would take 7-10 days for the request to go through then another 7-10 days for the refund. I told her that was unacceptable, she was the reason I was charged twice. She was like well that's the way the process is. I told her because of the extra charge it made my acct go negative. Tia said well there's nothing more I can do. I see you closed your acct there won't be anymore charges from planet fitness. Bye. I was just disgusted with how she was. Watch your credit/debit card statements when it comes to Planet fitness.

Cancelled my membership back in August 2024 in person. I didn’t notice I was being charged monthly after this as I don’t use my debit card frequently. I noticed this on my statements in February 2025 when I was charged the annual fee. I tried calling, but was told computers were closed even though it was an hour before close. I had to go BACK in person to talk to someone and re-cancel my membership, and even then a manager was not available to talk to about a refund. When I called later, the manager was quick to say if I had no proof they could do nothing (how would I have proof when they would have had to have cancelled for a confirmation email). I also have not been in once during that time so it is clear my membership hasn’t been used. I was ready to just receive a refund for this month and the annual fee at this point, but manager said they’re under “strict orders” not to give back the annual fee. The manager was quick to try and end the conversation with no room for discussion. This is a SKAM to have small amounts of money missing monthly so you don’t notice. I will NEVER return to this club and recommend anyone who is looking not to join here.

I love my local PF club! It's on my way to work, so I can pop in and get a workout in easily. It's never super busy when I go, I don't have issues getting on the machines I need, and it's always clean. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, too. It's a nice place to workout!

This gym is pretty good. It’s kept clean, nice amount of machines, which are in good condition.

But BEWARE. I was the victim of theft in the locker room. My stuff was stolen from my locker. I learned the hard way that locks are important when using a locker, though it’s sad that someone would steal from others here or anywhere.

I will say, this happened weeks ago and I am disappointed at the lack of concern and follow up from the PF staff. I reported the theft within 20-30 minutes of it happening but the staff present did not have access to the security camera footage. I left a message of the details of what happened and when with my phone number and I received no response from them at all.

How are we still not managing our Google business profile, in 2025? You know, Google literally awards you additional search traffic, just for engaging in your profile. It would also be helpful if you were going to close at 4:00 p.m., to give some people a heads up so they don't get out in the inclement weather, based on your profile telling them you're open.

Seriously, if you need help managing your business profile and social, find me and message me. For the love of goodness, you're making a huge mistake in 2025, simply putting a paper sign on your door when you close. I'll just go to the one closer to me from now on!

This gym has been really nice so far no problems at all I just moved here so I haven’t been going long but most of the staff are super friendly and equipment is always clean I’m always excited for my next visit and never know what to choose from the huge variety of machines or weights in there there is a fountain in which you can refill your water bottle and it is completely safe to use any locker no one will steal your things best gym I’ve ever been to only downside is if you have the pf black card your guest is not allowed to have any of the same benefits from it sadly no one informed me that and I was let down when my partner couldn’t use and of the massage equipment he’d been excited to try

This is a very good Planet Fitness for all ages, especially seniors—-the staff especially Dominique!—who really helped orient me to a lot of new amenities, like the massage chairs, and Aqua beds—and staff are truly nice each and every time. Usually work out for an hour and half, probably spend half of that time waiting for machines and benches to open up. One Monday, I came in and waited an hour and not a single bench/smith machine opened. Went to the cable machines, every single one was taken. I come here every week and get nothing but nightmares and very sore body parts. Some random African American man came up to me and made fun of the weight I was lifting. Then a bunch of Mexican men came and started correcting my form. And every time I try and bench people sit and stare at me.

I would recommend Planet Fitness. The staff all Greet You warmly @ arrival & each time you approach the desk for services. My Trainer Maddox is Excellent! He is informative & educated. He takes the time to listen & hear what is important to you. Maddox helped tailor my training to me as an individual. He also makes sure that I am feeling comfortable with each exercise. He is also prompt & respects my schedule. You can feel comfortable with Maddox. Maddox is open to questions, explaining & showing you & doing the steps of exercise with you as needed. He will also correct your form when needed. I enjoy extra cardio before & after my workout. There is plenty of equipment available, even during peak times. I love the accessibility of tanning on site. I enjoy the 3 different massage beds. Each feel slightly different. Clean facility. I also feel safe in the well lit parking lot & available parking close to the front of the Bldg.

The gym I have attended for years has not yet re-opened after the shutdown. So, I signed up for Planet Fitness. Although it is a smaller gym without the amenities of a basketball court or swimming pool, for its specific purpose it is outstanding. The facility is immaculate and at least when I tend to go, not crowded. There are a few serious body builders in attendance but none of the obnoxious behaviors you find in some gyms. I highly recommend it. The price is VERY reasonable.
