ROKC is a great place to climb, exercise, do yoga, or run with super nice people. With three locations in KC and Olathe, that each offer something a little different, you can find a place that meets your needs and personality. They offer classes and personal trainers and climbing coaches if you want help. But the regular folks are more than willing to share what they know and help you out too. So come check them out and happy climbing.

RoKC Kids is fantastic. Kids loved it. We switched back and forth between the climbing walls and play place. Ordered pizza to our table.

This gym is amazing! Customer service is both friendly and extremely helpful, which is hard to find these days!

The membership pricing is reasonable, and it’s an especially good deal if you take the classes/use the weight room and also climb.

I’m especially excited about the new RoKC Kids space that is separate from the main climbing area. I love taking my kids here, but it will be nice to keep their crazy away from other patrons πŸ€ͺ

Also, there is so much natural light and open space β€” it’s a very calming place to be (as long as you don’t come during peak times).

This was my first visit to this gym, and I was very pleased with the layout, the height of the walls, and the number of auto-belays. The routes didn’t feel very creative though, and the movement on the auto belays seemed more like climbing a ladder at times versus getting creative with body positioning. However, my main disappointment came from their lack of preparedness to Top Rope and Lead certify me. I came by myself and prepared to climb by myself since I live out of town, but when the opportunity arrived for me to climb with someone I went to the front to ask to get certified. They had a garage sale going on outside, and because of the garage sale they didn’t have anyone available to even Top Rope certify me. This was extremely disappointing! As a climbing gym, you should always be prepared to certify your customers- Climbing should be your first priority. It was very disappointing to see that they were prioritizing a garage sale over the first priority needs of the gym- The climbers and their experience. Overall I still enjoyed my time climbing there and definitely got a great work out in. However, I would challenge RoCK to evaluate if they are working to ensure customer experience is their number one priority. If I lived in the KC area, and I had other gyms to choose from, this experience would contribute to my decision to choose a different gym to take my membership to.

I’ve been a regular member at ROKC Olathe for years, and I can’t recommend it enough. The environment is always welcoming and friendly, making it a place where climbers of all levels feel at home. The staff is truly outstandingβ€”especially Eli, who is consistently friendly, inviting, and informative. He always goes above and beyond to make sure everyone feels comfortable and supported.

One of the things I love most is how well the routes are set. Over the past six months, I’ve noticed an extra level of creativity, challenge, and fun in the climbs. The variety is excellentβ€”whether you’re a beginner just starting out or an experienced climber looking for a serious challenge, there’s always something to push you and help you grow.

I’ve brought dozens of friends and family members through my guest pass, and the experience has been so positive that many of them have become repeat visitors and even signed up for memberships themselves. It’s a place that offers so much more than just climbingβ€”it’s fun, fitness, friendship, and community all in one.

Overall, ROKC Olathe is a fantastic gym that I’ll continue coming to for many years to come. If you’re looking for a place to challenge yourself, stay active, and be part of a supportive climbing community, this is it.

A very engaged and good gym. Amazing workout facility as well, and staff that clearly cares about the industry. Wonderful place to climb with friends. Only two complaints. 1) Almost too family friendly. What I mean is that it can be borderline dangerous to climb at times with the amount of unnatended children. I don't know what the solution is for this, but I've almost landed on multiple children throughout my dozens of hours there as they run around or climb under you. And 2) The setting. The Boulder routes need more character and creativity. As a former route setter, I might be more nit picky, but it wouldn't take much training to really make the setting pop. Hopefully one day. Nonetheless, still a gym I attend and recommend. Great personal training as well. Amazing breakfast burritos next door.

Compared to the local competition, you would be hard pressed to find a better all encompassing, indoor climbing gym. Each location carries its own unique aspects. Both are ROKC North and the Olathe location are extremely impressive in regard to the physical environment and routes. I would warn that the underground location could use a little bit friendlier staff behind the front desk. This does not take away from the fact that they still have a very impressive bouldering set up. Be prepared to spend hours here. Bouldering, auto belays, top rope. They have it all.

I’ve really enjoyed big wall climbing at roKC over the past few months. While I’m not very experienced, I love that there are always a variety of routes to choose from on the big wall (which I prefer over bouldering).

The membership is a good deal, especially since it includes climbing, free rental gear, and yoga classes that I enjoy (with warm and personable instructors). The membership also gives you access to all roKC locations, and other amenities like the sauna and weight room. The staff are always friendly, and the atmosphere is positive. It’s a great place to go with friends.

I frequent this climbing gym and it is always an absolute blast. Their staff are amazing and always ready to help. Their facilities are clean and well maintained, good routes that are always being updated with fun changes. I recently had an issue with missing equipment and they could not have done a better job with handling it - they were extremely helpful and kind and this experience made me a life time member.

There are plenty of great walls. I liked the courses that I played in I got a good challenge. Although I think they are missing some of the grades it's one of those gyms where like they'll skip a few so there's like no v7s but there are v8s or something like that and they rotate them throughout the seasons so be weary of that.

Routes are left up for months on end without being changed. Some routes are 4 months old now. Routes setters lack creativity and rely on crimps instead of technical routes to increase difficulty. Gets very boring after multiple routes of this style. Lack of competition in the area from other large wall gyms doesn't help. Never had staff so up tight at any gym I've climb across the country, about stopper knot, fig8 follow through/ yosemite tuck. Tag system should be implemented as most standard gyms do as they lack a tag system their excuse is they can't tell from the ground if theyre certified or not. Makes it a pain when these things are standard and safe climbing knots and techniques. Catering towards commercial crowd too much which hurts the regular climber crowd.
Most of all Change the routes more, routes setters need more exposure to differing styles.
Would be nice to see a movement gym come to kc to compete with this place.

Great activity for adults and kids. Biggest complaint is when we went today (MLK) there was 1 person working. Our 1st time going so we had to be given a 5min tour. We had to wait 30min for everyone behind us to get checked in (again due to only 1 person working when school is out). If you only have 1.5hrs to climb and 40min are spent waiting and then touring, it's a steep $140 price to pay for 4 people...

We went here today for my son’s birthday and I was so pleased with the experience that I am already writing a review. We didn’t do the party package but I reached out to Emily to do a group booking and she was beyond helpful and amazing to work with. Unfortunately I don’t remember the staff members names from today but they were all absolutely delightful which could be difficult with a bunch of 10 year old boys. Everything was explained well to the boys, safety was reiterated many times, and they were extremely patient. Kiddos to RoKC for having an awesome establishment but even better staff!

The "hidden fees" or extra fees just for a day pass is ridiculous! Even if you have the pogo pass expect to pay a lot extra. If it was apparent that would be different but customer service was incredibly rude. Maybe employees I dealt with were just having a bad day, but definitely made an impact!

Highly recommend for kids! We used our pogo pass and were not disappointed. I was intimidated at first, but I quickly realized how independent the kids could climb. I didn't have to help them repel down just supervise. My kids have been asking daily to go back. My daughter mentioned in a school assignment that this was the "best gift ever. "

My family loved our outing to RoKC in Olathe. I appreciated the training area upstairs where kids and adults can practice on easier climbs before hitting the walls on the main floor.

The space is large. We never felt like we were waiting for an opportunity to climb even though the facility was busy. The additional offerings at this location (workout facility, sauna, etc) make it an excellent gym to join. Bonus - Apogee that's attached to RoKC makes a perfect place to grab a coffee, smoothie, snack or beer post climb/workout.

I think this is the biggest and one of the nicest climbing gyms that we have in the metro.

They have an attached *Gearhead Outfitters, so if you need a harness, shoes, carabineers, trad gear, or other outdoor equipment they are conveniently located.

There is also a small attached restaurant / coffee shop called *Apogee Coffee and Draft.

There are two floors, I want to say they have some of the tallest walls in town by a little bit. They have one main long wall with varied heights of top rope and lead.

They also have a bouldering area, and a large bouldering overhang ramp which is kind of neat.

Upstairs they have some additional short routes and a more kid / beginner focused area which can be reserved separately for dedicated events - kids birthday parties and that sort of thing.

If you are interested and haven't been, it is definitely worth checking out.

We had a great experience here! I had been wanting to try it, but I was nervous since I haven't done anything like that since high school. It was on the pogo pass so we decided to try it and I am so glad I did! It was hard, but so much fun, definitely worth going again! The staff was friendly and helpful, they walked us around the building and explained what everything was and how to safely get hooked up. There were new climbers and experienced climbers, so I didn't feel out of place not knowing what to do.

I'm not a rock climber, but I took my kids to try it for FREE because it was on the KC Pogo Pass. Holy cow! They loved it and were surprisingly good at it. They climbed most of the day, and with the all-day pass that we got, we were able to leave and go back later in the day - for free. We had to pay for the climbing gear, but it's a small fee and still so worth it. My kids can't wait to go back. I don't think we would have tried it if it weren't for the Pogo Pass. We got our passes half off with code: KCMEMORIES

The front desk staff was amazing. Absolutely murdered the aux. Incredibly knowledgable in terms of the Top Rope and Lead test outs. Molly is an incredible front desk worker who always opens on time.
The climbing is spectacular. The route setters have a variety of styles and are suitable to all climbing styles and levels. Wall heights range from 50-37ft on the main tall wall. That wall has an incredible lead section as well with most of the top rope and autobelays. The 25ft walls are in the party rooms which can be closed on the weekends for birthday parties but have 20 autobelays targeted for beginners with some challenging routes mixed in. I believe they have 32 autobelays which is an insane amount.
The bouldering area has a ton of different wall angles and variety of styles. The cave that they have is sweet.
Prefer their gym to planet fitness as they have more free weights and just better machines.

My family are beginners. Our ages range 11-50. For our level and my age it was a great experience. We used the auto-belays and starting on the upstairs 30’ walls was great, there were about 20 to choose from. We then went to the downstairs and did about 4 of the 50’ climbs. They were great. We felt safe and the atmosphere was very positive. It was very busy with all ages, many kids and everyone was respectful and encouraging of workers and patrons. We had a very good experience. The sauna was not working and we hope to use that amenity next time along with a yoga class and the workout equipment.
We plan to continue climbing and progressing and hope this continues to be a great place to learn.

As indicated by the low star reviews, this gym doesn't have adequately trained staff. And the protocols show. I wanted to take a lead test and they said there was no one available to give that test. This place is great. Super welcoming energy and quick service to get you going in no time.

First time so we did the waiver online and a quick orientation when we got there. They have a short route area and then the walls and party area. I can see the use of the short routes but when you aren't super confident and anxious they can be a bit much. If the party room is open I definitely suggest heading up there and trying those walls out.

After a couple hours our arms started to give so we jumped on the treadmills for a quick mile before heading out. Pass gets you access to everything for the day and it's easy to get the money's worth.

Veteran climber and went to this location for the first time. The staff seemed friendly, but I was not allowed to use stopper knots while testing for belaying. I have been rock climbing all over the country and all the gyms I have been to will fail you for not using stopper knots. Stopper knots are a must on both ends of a climbing rope to prevent accidents. Figure 8s can come lose, especially with new ropes and failing to use a stopper knot as a delayer have lead to numerous rock climbing falls and deaths. I decided to leave and asked for a refund due to safety concerns. A manager called to defend them not allowing stopper knots. YIKES! I think calling to tell me I am wrong just made the situation worse. Won't be back to any of these gyms in town. I think they are setting up new climbers for failure and worried about these new climbers going to out door walls without using stopper knots at all and thinking it is ok to cut corners climbing. They should at least give veteran climbers a choice to use stopper knots there rather than banning them all together.

First time here tonight, and will definitely be back. A lot of wall space. Not packed at all, and even if it was, there are enough lanes to keep everyone climbing. For solo climbers, even on the tall walls, there are something like 12 auto belays covering a large range of difficulties. The upstairs party room is also awesome because it has shorter walls that are good for warm ups or for practicing. Large diverse bouldering area as well, including a section that allows you to go over the top of a wall. How fun!

Always an amazing time. The staff are friendly and the space is nicely laid out for you to have your own area to climb and stay distanced. The other climbers are supportive and help when needed. Really enjoy hanging, studying, and climbing here

No one wears masks. The staff doesn't wear masks. There's no encouragement to wear masks. Can't recommend coming here.

I spent my morning at ROKC Olathe and can’t say enough positive things about my experience! The staff is welcoming, upbeat, professional, and well informed in everything from gym use to online registration to use of the climbing apparatus! The climbing areas are amazing and expansive, clean, vibrant, well maintained! Everything is so polished and nice looking, and the energy in the space feels empowering! The equipment in the gym area is awesome! Everything that I’d use at any other mainstream gym was available, in terms of machines, cardio equipment, a sled and carpeted area to push it on, free weights, hex bars, etc! There are also CrossFit apparatuses, plyo boxes, pull up stations for muscle ups and such, Trx bands, rings for dips, muscle ups, Pulls ups, levers...AND they offer fitness classes that promise an incredible full body workout ! Full locker rooms with showers, a kids play area, even a coffee and draft house cafe attached!

Very nice place. The gym is not huge, but it has a ton of equipment. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. It's very clean, and they offer wipe down spray and towels for the equipment. Holy cow those rock walls are huge, I had no idea it was so popular.

A very nice addition to the ROKC gyms. The 50ft area and no shortage of climbs in the 12s is nice. The bouldering area is unique with plenty of space for other forms of exercise in their other workout areas. The staff are nice, and the facility very clean. Good times for all levels of climbers

Very fun, and surprisingly very well equipped for a gym. There's plenty of walls, so you rarely need to wait. And everyone is super encouraging, no matter what level you start at. Everytime I go, strangers cheer us on when we tackle the tough bits. Highly recommend!

I've been an ROKC member for just over a year, and would rate myself a very-amateur climber. I've visited every other local bouldering and/or general climbing gym and have to say this is probably one of if not the best place.

General fitness and yoga areas - fantastic; props to the yoga studio in particular for having great ambient lighting with big windows.

Actual climbing areas - huge. The main wall is massive, and will probably be intimidating to those (like me) who are afraid of heights, BUT they have an entire separate room with half-sized walls which are absolutely perfect for warming up or just lighthearted climbing (these shorter walls still have challenging routes too!). The bouldering area is my favorite. The standout is the mega-slope-overhang, but that's lowkey terrifying for me. To help build up to that, the rest of the bouldering area has varying angles and a lot of creative holds to work with.

This is a very, very open climbing gym in every sense of the word. The ROKC staff is wonderful as always. The space is very open with lots of nice spots to rest or study if you want to train your brain too. This gym is going to be a game-changer for KC-area climbing, and I absolutely recommend checking it out!

Great place to go for climbing and workout for sure!!
- Bouldering ramp is so unique and fun!
- Kilter board with adjustable frame = AWESOME!
- Workout facility β‰ˆ regular full-size fitness center

I understand there were parts that were unfinished during the very first week, but I know they are still working on every detail to try make this climbing gym better and better. This great playground and the enthusiastic staffs will never disappoint you!

Great place! Great people!

I’m a big fan of the RoKC North & Underground locations and I was happy to confirm that the Olathe location is just as awesome! Not only is the facility great, but the fellow climbing community and RoKC staff are definitely an added bonus. I’m only sad that I’ll be moving soon and won’t get the opportunity to climb here more. This gym is one of the things I’ll miss most about the KC area.

We are THRILLED that RoKC Olathe has finally opened. My 17 year old son is an avid climber, as is his 11 year old sister. Both had a great time yesterday -- and I loved watching my daughter and her friend go back and try routes they had trouble with until they got it right. Great facility and really friendly/helpful staff.

This gym is phenomenal! They have a wide variety of climbs that range from climbs for beginners to more advanced climbs! The staff is always extremely friendly and everyone goes above and beyond to make everyone feel super welcome. The bouldering area is massive and super fun to play around on. They also have a lot of gym equipment and training boards set up that give the climber some chances to train! In general, I am obsessed with ROKC Olathe and have made it my new home for all things fitness related!

ROKC Olathe is a functional, thoughtful, multipurpose, and collaborative climbing space. Built upon the most successful elements of ROKC North, it took everything I love about climbing to the next level.

The climbing space: it’s more of a true tall wall climbing experience. The lead climbing options are extensive, and the wall features 24 autobelays and a huge amount of top roping options as well.

The free weight/cardio space/studio: though I’m including these three together, they’re actually on two separate levels of the facility and each could essentially be a standalone gym in terms of size and variety of equipment. The free weight area is extensive and features top of the line equipment, as does the cardio space on the second floor. The yoga/fitness studio is MUCH bigger than its north counterpart and can accommodate large groups.

The super cool bonus features: specified party area for birthday parties, etc. This area is allowed to be used by anyone so long as there isn’t an event going on and has a bunch of autobelays. Otherwise, it’s where birthday parties and other things of the like will be held. I think this was SUCH a good idea and will limit the Sunday afternoon birthday party crowdedness. Also, a SAUNA. Yes please.

The collaborative spaces: scattered throughout the gym, there’s a plethora of seating/hangout options to watch others climb or to relax and get some work done. The counters overlooking the tall wall space have outlets so you can plug in any of your devices, and the couches/chairs are new and plentiful. Also, a lot to get excited about with apogee opening right next door! Even more seating and options to drink coffee, beer, wine, etc.

I’m sure there’s some other feature about this gym that I’m forgetting, but bottom line is: it’s a great space. I would literally spend my whole day at this gym if I could. It has everything I could ever need and I am so excited to see how successful it is in the future. Well done, ROKC!
