Superior Fit Body, is a private gym and fitness facility in Overland Park Kansas, located inside of JQs Bfit 2. We provide 1:1 personal training with specialization in weight loss, corrective exercise, core strengthening and Senior Fitness.
Ray O'Kelly is the only trainer in this area that works on posture imbalances FIRST.
This must be done to start any workout program, regardless of your goals.

Highly recommend! Ray did an assessment and designed routines specifically for me. Nothing cookie-cutter here. I'm amazed how quickly I've seen results. He is very knowledgeable and fully explains everything we do. When I have a session with Ray, he is 100% there with me. I feel that he is as invested in my success as I am.

Ray is an excellent Corrective Exercise Specialist. I've had both hips and knees replaced along with brain surgery. Ray has developed an interesting and effective exercise program over the last 22 months that has gotten me physically stronger and more mobile so that I can live an active lifestyle.

I really missed Rayβs classes over the past few months and I am SO SORE after a Total Body Workout. I use ClassPass so try many different group fitness programs and Ray is one of my favorites. The moves are always challenging but doable and appreciate his positive attitude.
I do wish his classes were on classpass still but now I just do drop ins when I need some strength training.
Overall great place for strength training and cardio. His facility is extremely clean! Hard classes with 1:1 attention. His dogs are an added bonus.

I have worked with Ray O'Kelly for more than four months now. I've had multiple trainers before; he is, by far, the best. His knowledge base is excellent, he is attentive and always present, he individualizes the workouts and varies them every session and, finally, he obviously cares about his clients. As a physician, I am an "educated consumer". Ray O'Kelly is outstanding.

Ray has been crucial in learning and understanding the things my body does poorly. We have worked towards establishing a strong foundation of proper form, and also tailored my workouts to help correct my bodyβs weaknesses. Between our one on one sessions and the boot camps, I made my 6 month goal of dropping 30lbs in a way that is meaningful. It wonβt be easy to put that weight back on, and we arenβt done yet.

I've been going to Ray for a few years now. I need the accountability or I'd just work every evening. He keeps it different and interesting and makes me want to keep going back.

What I like about the workouts at Superior Fit Body is that no two workouts are ever the same helping to prevent exercise burnout and boredom. Also, Ray places a high priority on demonstrating the exercises and explaining the proper form for each to prevent injury and maximize effectiveness. The gym is a friendly place with people of all ages that share a common mindset of pursuing health and fitness.

It IS possible for "bootcamp" to be fun! I've been attending classes and personal training with Ray O'Kelly for three months and I love it. Whether in class or one-on-one training, Ray is always monitoring people, encourages proper form over showmanship, and offers effective modifications if an exercise is too advanced or difficult due to injury. No two classes have been remotely similar as Ray also listens to suggestions for muscle groups and class format and changes it up. The atmosphere is fun, led by Ray but also by the regular crowd. It's inviting, not intimidating like many big gyms. If you're reading this deciding whether it's the gym for you, I highly encourage you give it a shot.

I'm 62 years young and have suffered with severe knee pain and osteoarthritis for more than 20 years, so knee replacement surgeries were on my calendar this year. I went to Ray about eight months prior with the goal of getting fit and strong to better withstand the surgeries. Frankly, I wasn't sure Ray would even take me on as a client, because of my special needs. But Ray was undeterred and he came up with a plan geared specifically to me. In another review I read how he adapted and adjusted exercises to individual needs, and this is so true. He'd reiterate all the time small adjustments still lead to great and positive results. More important, he always remained positive and coached me on to try things I didn't think I could do, but respected the times I said I couldn't. Ray truly cares about his people. So, eight months in, my goals were not only met, but well exceeded. Three weeks ago I underwent my first surgery feeling extremely strong and confident. My surgeon was very so pleased with my rapid post-op progress, which I directly attribute to my fitness level. In three weeks, I go for surgery #2, but in the meanwhile, I've returned to Ray's gym to keep up with my training. Ray is not only a superior personal trainer, he is a superior motivator, and quite simply, a superior guy! I definitely recommend giving Ray O'Kelly and Superior Fit Body a try!

I have had various personal trainers in the past 10 years. Ray was recommended to me by another trainer due to a knee injury, it took about 30-45 days of exercise rehabilitation. He was knowledgeable and very professional so I decided to continue to work with him.
I am extremely impressed with the results and the amount of energy I began to experience.
He has a very positive personality that makes you feel good all around. I highly recommend Ray to anyone that needs to get in the best possible shape.

I am a 26 year old male that was pretty active through college but now works a desk job.
After undergoing an ankle surgery, and the physical therapy that goes along with it, I needed someone to help me continue the journey to correct my functional imbalances. Ray's background in corrective exercises and focus on form/posture got me interested in personal training sessions.
At this point I've been with Ray for two months and have achieved noticeable functional results; moving beyond just the ankle/lower body imbalances which were our initial focus. All along the way he and I worked together to better identify my strengths and weakness; if something hurt we would modify the movement, if I started to break form we would stop and/or reset. His default approach to fundamental principles of form, posture, and control in conjunction with his catalog of unique and interesting movements has helped to keep the sessions engaging and effective.
As a trainer, he is very friendly but not someone who is going to coddle you. He will always keep you safe and listen to your feedback, but you should expect to put in the work to reach your goals. This personality works well with my own; I come in focused and leave the session knowing it was time(and money) well spent.
I've signed on for a few more months since I'm still seeing results and feeling better every week. Regardless of where you are in your fitness journey, if you have a new challenge or are just looking for a partner to help guide you then having a chat with Ray would be worth your time.

Ray will help you not only achieve your goals, but he will make you love working out. He will literally work with you 24/7. He cares a lot about his clients more than anything else, and during his class, he'd work and help each one of us, one by one. You will no be judged, you will feel empowered and motivated once you talk to him. I'd like to take a moment to write about my experience working with Ray O'Kelly. I had come to the point where I knew I needed to make a major change in my fitness routine. I was working out steadily, but not seeing results. I had seen Ray working with his clients, and I noticed his clients changing over time for the better, of course! I started training with Ray, and I found the exercises to be not only functional, but tailored to my personal needs. I soon began to see results, and instead of just using the typical playbook of exercises, Ray really showed his knowledge and love of helping people become fit by creating fun and functional workouts that incorporated balance work as well as weight lifting. I worked with Ray until he moved up to Missouri, but if he was still here, I'd still be working with him! I thank him for getting me hooked on weight training, which ultimately benefits my health and wellbeing. Thank you, Ray! You are missed!

I began attending Superior Fit Body for the bootcamp classes as a way to try and get back into better shape. Soon after, I hired Ray to work one on one with me after seeing how knowledgable he is about fitness and how much he cares about his clients. He takes time to teach and work with us, which is evident in his holistic approach to training where he teaches proper form, nutrition, stretching, etc. He has a great sense of humor and always makes bootcamp and personal training sessions fun. I had been going to going to Superior Fitness for quite a while. The workout was good but the number of classes kept getting cut. Because of this I decided to take a breather from Superior Fit Body and try some free classes at a gym that was newly opening. I posted on Facebook to see if any of my Facebook friends had been there and how they liked it. I am Facebook friends with the owner of Superior Fit Body, Ray. The next day he started texting me inquiring if I was going to keep working out at his gym. I told him that I hadnβt paid for July (there arenβt any contracts) and I was going to try this other gym out. He then started texting me back, putting this gymβs workouts down. I didnβt respond. I had a few workouts left that I had paid for at Superior Fit Body so the next day I went to workout. I went in and got setup to workout. About 15 minutes into the workout, the owner Ray came over and started taunting me about the gym I was going to be trying out. I put up my mat and walked out. I will not be returning. I was so shocked to be treated that way, especially by the OWNER of a business. There are a lot of places to work on your fitness in Kansas City and I would rather spend my money where I am treated with respect.
