The Workout I Love to Hate (But Can’t Live Without)

After 20 years of weight training and even working as a personal trainer for 7 years, I thought I’d seen it all. I hadn’t. Lagree absolutely wrecked that assumption—in the best, most humbling way possible.

I’ve been coming to this studio for almost a year, and I still hate every minute of class. That’s not shade—it’s respect. This workout pushes me harder than anything I’ve ever done, and I’ve done everything. I literally wobble out of every session, flabbergasted at how deeply it works my body—especially my abs. No other workout has ever activated my core like this. Period.

But here’s the real kicker: Lagree saved me from foot surgery. I was on the verge of physical therapy and scheduling an operation for chronic pain in my foot. These classes strengthened my stabilizers so effectively that I haven’t had an issue in nearly a year. That alone makes this studio priceless.

Beyond the physical gains, Lagree has completely retrained my mindset around lifting. I’ve found a new level of mind-body connection that’s translated into even better results in the gym. It’s not just about strength anymore—it’s about control, endurance, and precision.

The instructors are phenomenal. Mike and Megan are my favorites—they explain every movement with clarity and intention, even while I’m cussing under my breath from the burn. Mike even played Kpop demon hunters for me once 😂 ❤️
If you’re serious about elevating your athletic ability, this is the place. It’s brutal. It’s transformative. And it just might change your body—and your mindset—forever

It is a sad day when you are kicked out of class (10 min into class) because you are following your PT’s explicit instructions after spinal surgery to maintain a neutral spine and not “imprint”. This is especially frustrating since I had a conversation with the instructor prior to class to discuss this and nothing was mentioned at that time. To pour a little salt in the wound, he had to add that “if you are in rehab you have no business being in class” … of course in front of the entire class, mic on. Extremely unprofessional and rude. I am a year out from surgery and it was actually my physical therapist who thought The Body Lab would be good for my continued recovery (with the instructions that I was not to imprint, rather maintain a neutral spine.) Finally, he had to add “you wouldn’t go to an Attorney and tell them how to do their job. I’ve been doing this for 10 years…”. I wasn’t telling him how to do his job- I just wanted to safely do my own thing but he took it upon himself to single me out and make an example of me rather than being encouraging and supporting a welcoming environment. Reading the other negative reviews about this place now I am not surprised. He is one of the owners and the negative attitude from this place no doubt is partially due to him. The other handful of instructors I have experience with have all been fine (except Mike today). Jaimie is wonderful.

I drive 30 minutes for this workout! Mike and Jena along with all the instructors are excellent. It’s a tough workout but they make the classes go by quickly with their detailed instructions to get the most out of each exercise. My core has never been stronger!

I love love love body lab!!!! All of the instructors are so friendly and welcoming. I was nervous about my first class but felt so comfortable here. It’s such a welcoming, positive, and judgement free zone. Can recommend it enough!!

I have been doing Pilates for about 8 months now, a combination of Mat and Reformers practice. I have visited at least 5 different reformers studios in this time and nothing compares to The Body Lab in my opinion. The Megaformer is an amazing resistance challenge, and the staff is so well versed in how to properly pace and cue a class. The workout always leaves me feeling so physically strong and mentally calm from the focus on individual muscle groups. I don't care what's happening in my week, I'm going to have a class scheduled here! Thanks for all you do to the instructors that make this such a great part of my day.

I have been taking classes for several years and it is the best workout to build your core and maintain muscle and strength. The classes are low impact and go by so fast. After a few sessions you feel stronger and can see results. The instructors are great, very friendly and encouraging.

I love this place and the Managing Partners Jena and Mike Green are wonderful, authentic people! I started in December 2021 doing private classes with Jena and I plan to slowly transition into group classes soon. The class design and types of movement exercises are perfect for anyone, regardless of your age, fitness level or health status. I just tried my first group class 2 weeks ago and it was such a great workout! I was able to follow along without any issues, and I appreciated the judgement-free, positive environment, in addition to the individualized instructions and options/modifications.

While all the trainers are wonderful, Jena is simply amazing! She is such a kind human who truly actively listened to me from Day 1. She took the time to provide an individualized treatment plan for me to get back in shape and I have lost almost 50 pounds so far! She is so inspiring, giving and motivating. With Jena’s talent, intelligence and flexible training workouts, she is able to provide me the best workouts for my complex health situation; not many people can do that, but Jena never gives up on me and always wants the best for me.

I plan to continue on my health journey with The Body Lab and I can’t wait to see where it takes me! I am forever grateful and I appreciate the individualized, compassionate care. I highly recommend this place to anyone!

I have been going a little over a year. It took me about 5-10 classes to get the hang of things, but The Body Lab offers a motivational and judgement-free environment with individualized instruction even during the group classes. I am glad I tried it, because it is a great, low-impact work out and I am stronger than I have been in years. All the instructors are knowledgeable in exercise science and always offer modifications to the exercises- either to make easier or harder! Highly recommend!
