Love this place not just because the gym is the best in kc, but all the other facilities make it feel more like a community or club. Ive been to country clubs in kc and this place continually exceeds my expectations.

Tried to go check this gym out for the day. Didn't care to try and show me around, ask if I wanted a membership, etc. just told me they don’t do day passes and then ended conversation.

Woodside gym is nearly the perfect athletic facility. Multiple workout locations, loads of classes, and a top of the line spa. There are classes, machines, and free weights to satisfy almost any type of workout. My only wish would be a basketball court, but other than that, this is the perfect space for us.
Another highlight is the massage service at the spa. Elana has been my massage therapist for around a year now working both my visceral and my lymphatic system. The past few months I feel as if my digestive and immune systems have hit their peak. Elana is not only extremely knowledgeable, but she takes time to make sure you are feeling better before you leave. She will also explain anything she is doing and how the body is connected. Then lastly she gives you knowledge and tools to work on yourself inbetween visits. I truly don’t think there is a better massage therapist than Elana. Thank you for everything you’ve done!

I feel 2.5 stars is a fair review for Woodside after spending more than a year as a member (and am no longer one). The facility is of course beautiful and stocked with top of the line everything (except the cardboard tampons in the restrooms) but comes with some drawbacks.
I've never felt like a "member", I don't know the name of any front desk employees and they never learned mine. The one time I asked for help I was told no one could help me because it was "night" and so I never got my workout in that day due to the malfunctioning equipment that no one would assist me with at 6pm on a weeknight. The "events" are either paid for or geared towards alcohol/partying which at a gym is... weird and do not create a sense of community. The group classes are great but they are LARGE (some have 40+) making it very challenging to receive proper form corrections but I guess that's what the paid personal training is for, right?
If you read through these reviews and see how Woodside replies to their lower reviews you can hear the condescension through the screen. It also feels like they are attempting to supplement the recent increase in negative reviews with some forced 5 star reviews. And that doesn't work well for them in my opinion either. They seem to just want to shove their policies down people's throats rather than taking accountability for messing up and fixing it for someone who pays over $150 a month. They raise the monthly cost and make 0 improvements. In the spring they were "repaving" the parking lots (which were literally crumbling) but all they did was apply a layer of asphalt on top of the already crumbling asphalt and therefore the affects of that are already wearing off. When you enter the west lot there is a massive dip into the road which causes even more traffic issues that already exist in these too small parking lots. They are clearly overselling memberships which is noticeable due to the lack of ability to get a treadmill at 5pm or even a parking spot.
The adult pools on the weekend feel like a singles resort and get covered in a disgusting film due to the sunscreen and amount of people in the pools. One time I even had the luck of picking up a fake eyelash in the pool... how luxurious.
I feel they need to decide if they are a "club" or a "gym" and then stay in that lane. Their attempt at combining both makes for a cold, sterile, and strange vibe that did not match my expectations based on reviews, tours, and experiences over time.
I wouldn't not join again in the future but this place is definitely for a specific person and I never felt like I was that for them. Oh well, I signed up for the YMCA and an unlimited pilates membership for less than what my husband and I paid at Woodside.

Woodside will come back to this saying "All members should read our policies," acting like people don't have lives and things that come up that make following every single policy hard. Prices have sky rocketed (now paying $350/month from starting MUCH less). Was three days late to put in our resignation because of a family emergency and even though "they are sorry and understand, it's the policy we have to charge you another month."
As many have said, Woodside does not care about its members. Raising prices, still having horrible parking, and just referring back to "this is the policy" without trying to help at all.
Also, someone noted Woodside doesn't make pregnant women get a doctors note for suspending their membership, which is a lie as a friend of mine who is also a member had to get one.
All members understand policies, but what we don't understand is the lack of customer service for an expensive membership along with the lack of humanity for members.
Let people cancel when they need to, it does not take a month to stop a payment, let members suspend their membership without having to pay or jump through hoops, let people wear what they want, make sure there are more than 2 waitresses in the family pool on the busiest day so I don't have to wait 2 hours for a drink or food.
Members pay a lot to be apart of this gym along with all the extras they have to pay for (tennis/Pilates/spa), so why not appreciate them a little more?

Elana at the Woodside spa has been my massage therapist for a couple of years. Since having regular monthly massages, including cranial sacral, my entire outlook on life has changed. Not only do I have minimal aches and pains, my digestive system has improved, my pelvic floor issues have been resolved, I sleep well, and I look forward to exercising every day. I feel and look stronger, think more clearly and deeply, and enjoy my life. Elana takes the time to work, not only the soreness on the outside of my body, but through listening and using alternative massage techniques, is able to heal my inner aches and pains. She has literally helped me to transform both physical and emotional. Other clients of Elena say she does the same for them. Thank you, Elana for All your difficult study and training that you do to improve the lives of your client.

This place is a treasure and extremely well run, clean, and high quality. I spend half the year in Paris, France (a fairly civilized place) where it is impossible to find a sports club / gym this nice.
I’ve noticed some complaints about the dress code, which until now I never even noticed. This “code” seems to just maintain a certain dignity coherent with the club. It’s more of a collective preference that discourages wearing underwear/exhibitionist type gym clothing and or making obnoxious grunting noises while lifting.

I absolutely love this wellness club! It truly has everything you need to take care of your body and mind — cold plunge, sauna, steam room, reformer Pilates, yoga, meditation, multiple tennis courts and an incredible variety of fitness classes. The space is always spotless, smells amazing, and the trainers are professional and friendly. Their schedules are super convenient, and all the equipment is state-of-the-art. Plus so many amazing events throughout the year that make the community even more special.
Another thing I love is that they have a work-friendly bar area — my husband works there every day, and the food and drinks are absolutely delicious. And the spa… no words, it’s simply perfect. Honestly, this place has it all. It’s not just a gym, it’s a wellness sanctuary with the best atmosphere in Kansas City.

Woodside is the nicest health club ive ever seen. And I have visited almost every club in KC and many abroad while traveling. The gym facilities are simply the best. Tons of equipment and space. Everything you could ever need. The pools are stunning and the food is top tier. Lisa runs the earthbar with love and intention. Tara takes excellent care of members and Katie manages the whole club so well. Woodside is truly my second home. And my favorite part is the spa area. The best massage therapists and the hot tub and steam room and sauna area are the best ive ever had. Ive never been to a health club that could hold a candle to Woodside. It is the Gold Standard because of the people who run it with Love (Meraki)

I have been going to see Elena for massages for the past couple years. Her emphasis on visceral massage does wonders to promote lymphatic drainage and improve digestion/bloating. There are things I love about this gym, and things I dislike. Let's start with the love. The variety of classes, equipment, pool, sauna, instructors, summer party, food and amenities are first class.
Now, all of that is overshadowed by the noise pollution. The entire facility is wired with a Bose sound system. Everyday, all day, this system takes a 60-102 decibel dump in your ears. All of the patrons wear headphones or earbuds. There are no corners to escape.
If you don't wear earbuds or headphones, then you will probably go home with tinnitus after extended exposure. If you only go once in a while then it might be fun, but if you are a real gym rat, then you quickly realize that this is a place where you can only dwell long-term with hearing protection.
I blame 2025. Peace and quiet are their own music. Unfortunately putting some spotify station called "musical meditation" on random repeat at 60 decibels is trending literally everywhere. Every single business has some sort of streaming service, which is a pretty recent development in human history.
Also, this is not music, it is noise. Musicians get tired of playing, fans get tired of listening. When you pay your $500 fee on top of the monthly bill, you are stuck listening to noise pollution every time you want to work out, zero exceptions.
This impacts the social dynamic. Awkward silence stimulates conversation. If you want to meet people, then you need to talk, sometimes yell, over sound pollution, or get them to take their hearing protection off. If someone has been there all day, or even years, then they may have problems hearing you. It makes the place cliquey; Which is not healthy.
Also, I would imagine this is a profitable type of hostile architecture for the management, not so much for the contractors or staff. 1000 members are not nearly as lucrative as 20,000 members, if only you can get around the building occupancy limit. Noise which is just loud enough to tire some someone out and irritate their ears, will cause turnover. I have to imagine that the staff who have been here long-term have some degree of ringing in the ears from dialing up the streaming noise pollution on the Bose speakers.
Again, I blame 2025 and not necessarily one particular gym and so this two star review is also a review of all the gyms who advertise to hard bodies attached to soft minds.

If you’re thinking about joining this gym, don’t. Really poor customer service if you ever have an issue with your account. I paused my partner’s membership due to her pregnancy and was still getting charged, so I tried to get them to adjust my account for their lapse in updating the account. Provided a medical note through email and they chose not to honor it. Insane that you have to get a medical note for a pregnant woman in the first place to suspend an account and incredibly terrible customer service to not acknowledge an email exchange providing the medical note.
I’ve seen other reviews on here about people getting overcharged and fraudulent occurrences on their credit card, then when they go to management they’re just given empty promises on solving the issue and have to go to their credit card provider to get the issue fixed.

I had a 150% tip added to my drink bill at the pool bar. My credit card sent me an alert. Sure enough. I contacted Josh Tatom at Woodside administration. We traded multiple emails where he apologized emphatically and promised to credit my card. Then a month of excuses after excuses why it wasn't done. He never did credit me, and then ghosted me. Watch your bar bill here. They let the employees steal your money. I had to dispute this on my CC. Be warned

A Second Home: Club Woodside
Club Woodside in Westwood, Kansas, has become so much more than just a gym for me—it’s a second home. From the moment you step inside, it’s clear this is a facility unlike any other. The state-of-the-art equipment and beautifully designed spaces make every visit feel like a treat. Whether I’m sweating it out on the cutting-edge cardio machines, enjoying a rejuvenating yoga class, or relaxing in the luxurious spa area, I always leave feeling recharged.
The amenities are top-tier. The locker rooms are spacious and impeccably clean, the pools (both indoor and outdoor) are stunning, and the café serves healthy, delicious options perfect for a post-workout treat.
But what truly sets Club Woodside apart are the people. I’ve made lifelong friends here, and the sense of community is unmatched. The staff are friendly, professional, and genuinely care about your experience. The trainers are knowledgeable and supportive, helping you achieve your goals in a way that feels empowering.
If you’re looking for a gym that’s more than just a place to exercise, Club Woodside is it. It’s a sanctuary, a social hub, and a space to thrive. Joining this club has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

Decent facility. However, waited 30 minutes for someone to take my order at the outdoor pool. I had to wave them down 3 times after I watch them ask everyone around me if they’d like anything multiple times. 4 stars if the service was better. 5 stars if they were more accommodating to bringing spouses for day passes without needing to call ahead as well as allowing weekend passes. Facilities could also be kept up more. Many machines go out and don’t get fixed for months.

Tried canceling my membership, they told me on the phone my membership was canceled and that I wouldn't be billed anymore, then they keep charging my account and claim they never received a formal cancellation request and that they also need a 30 day notice, so now they are charging me for two additional months... beware their predatory tactics. Also, the membership is $178/month now after taxes, over double what it was when I started while their facilities have gotten worse... just saying.

Despite how hard Woodside tries to convince you it is an Equinox, the truth is it’s more on par with a Lifetime or the nicer Genesis facilities. While worth the money, if you take full advantage of the amenities, Woodside largely benefits from there being no similarly positioned competitors in the area. Locker rooms and “spa” are decades out of date and in need of a remodel. The newly renovated south club prioritized smart connectivity over functionality leaving a lot to be desired in the weight room. However, this is not a surprise given the target demographic is housewives. Ultimately, I will remain a member but would love to see competitors enter the area and shake things up a bit.

I was very excited to tour this facility as I have been looking for a new gym with childcare facilities and a family pool. My first tour was a bit disappointing as I was not able to see most of the facility with my toddler present. The tour was given by someone who was not very friendly (very unkind towards families) and gave me inaccurate information. I was told that my toddler should have had a spot at the daycare for the duration of the tour but they had a scheduling error (something that should have been checked prior to my arrival). I was not able to see the spa, pools, or locker room area and she did not utilize the creative solutions I offered. Thankfully, after leaving this review, Woodside reached out to schedule a second tour. Esteban and Tara were so kind and helpful. They made me feel like families were accepted at Woodside. Esteban was extremely knowledgeable about the facility and guidelines. He helped me pick the best solutions that worked for my family and out of town guests. After joining I registered my daughter for the childcare facilities. I called to book my first timeslot and discovered her name was spelled incorrectly in the system and they booked the wrong time. All around, things are not improving.

I love the community Woodside offers whether it’s through the group fitness classes, tennis, the family pools, or just be seeing regular faces every morning. The updates to the south side are very nice, and the daycare is amazing - including the updated hours. The new LAB room with the various classes are awesome and a refreshing update to group fitness.
The extreme price hike that occurred last year is making it hard to justify the commitment though. The facilities still need constant care with multiple leaky pipes, leaky roof, and parking lot issues. I wish Woodside would also address the parking space availability.
Towels are also an issue. I wish the workout towels were bigger (they used to be), and last summer it was an issue even getting a towel. I hope more towels are ordered so that’s not a problem anymore.

I've been a member for three years and highly recommend Woodside. I've had a wonderful experience with a personal trainer, utilize the cardio and weights, attend yin yoga with Katie (she's amazing!), enjoy the pool with my family, and take advantage of some other meditation classes. I appreciate the commitment Woodside has to continuous improvement and their transparent communication. The only thing I could even ask to improve is parking.
Additionally, I regularly see Elena at the spa. I've been seeing her for over a year now and she's helped me recover from some abdominal surgeries, including breaking up scar tissue, and helped me strengthen my core. She is an exceptional therapist. Not only does she provide an outstanding massage, but her commitment to customer service is truly remarkable. I would say this gym is too corporate but corporations do a much better job of customer service these days. Three requests over my multiple year tenure for seemingly simple considerations were not even considered. The responses I received would have been more considerately written by a chatbot. My last request for a temporary suspension of account while I travel for a couple of months , which you still have to pay for by the way, was denied even more than 2 weeks in advance of the date. They really don't go out of there way to work with their members who have been supporting them for years with memberships + food + drink purchases etc. Good luck, if there was any competition for decent spa facilities in town, like there are in larger cities, there is no way this nonsense would stay in business.

They will nickel-and-dime you when you request to cancel your membership. Beware. Even though they charge hundreds of dollars to join in addition to the expensive membership fee, they will still charge you a full month of membership because they, for some reason, need 30 days before the next billing date to cancel your membership. It's 2023. They don't need 30 days to cancel a membership. Its a money grab and nothing else. Here's what they told me:
"In order to have avoided membership dues on June 15th, 2023, we would have needed the resignation form submitted on May 16th, 2023 or earlier. You submitted the resignation form on May 31st, 2023 which was outside of the 30 days’ required notice so you were billed a final time on June 15th, 2023."
I hadn't been to the gym in 6 months (while still paying) and now they are sending me letters saying I owe them $327 because I canceled 15 days before the next billing cycle instead of 30. I asked them several times to make an exception and they are unwilling to budge. They don't value their members. They value your money 💰

There have been several improvements in the last few years, and the price reflects that. It's definitely an expensive place ($150/month as well as sign up fees), but the volume and quality of the amenities are what keep me there, as well as having unlimited classes included in the membership fee.

I'm a long time member. Nice gym and pool. That being said, the club has always stuck me as suffering from rather mediocre management. This is a shame because the location suits us quite well. Also, be aware that there is a severe shortage of parking at popular times. The club has very definitely outgrown the number of parking spaces available.

If you have children and want to join this gym because they have daycare, just know that the daycare has been under construction for a year and still nobody seems to know when it will be open.
They tell me every time I ask, which is once a week since September 2022, that it will be opened in a month, or that they have no idea. No updates, no information, nothing. Just expect to be OK with how unprofessional and out of touch they have been handling this situation considering it is the only reason I join the gym to begin with.

I’m all for updating facilities and understand how in doing so results in an increase in dues. My problem is not that the price has gone up or that I don’t appreciate the remodeling, it’s that the price has gone up for a gym where shower facilities in the women’s locker room are gross. There is rust and buildup on the drains and shower heads, the mats on the floor have gunk underneath them and it smells like a clogged drain. I’ve attached pictures I took today. I hope that some of the money that Woodside is receiving goes towards the Women’s Showers ASAP!

What used to be an inclusive and fun health and wellness gym is sadly now snobby and exclusive. If you don’t fit the young and super fit mold (ie, the image Woodside is now attempting to create), forget it. You will be ignored, even passive-aggressively threatened by management. How sad that such a KC staple has turned into this wannabe LA gym. This is not Kansas City. Shame on you, Woodside.

Not sure how you can justify a 50% membership increase when you charged 100% of the membership price for only 50% of the gym for the last 6 months. This is laughable. Would not recommend Woodside.

Started going to woodside in February of this year, last time I had gone was March 2020 and I am obsessssed with their upgrades. They’ve created an amazing space at the South Club (group fitness and spin is almost done on top of polishing touches it sounds like) that is clean, sleek, and spacious and the entire club has so much to offer!! Also the Earth Bar smoothies are to die for. The membership price is completely worth it for me, I do not think it is expensive especially for what you’re getting. You can pay $150 for just group classes at other places that don’t have all the amenities and worse hours. Definitely the best option by far in KC!!

Construction delays and unannounced closures for the last 6 months have been a serious hinderance to my workouts and enjoyment of the gym. Had to get a Chiefs Fit membership in January bc they were so unreliable. Was originally told construction would be done by the new year and here we are with it still going. Zero concessions made from management despite being inconvenienced and half the gym being unusable. Also terrible communication and accountability. Only reason I stay is for the pool in the summer. Just do better

Absolutely the WORST billing system on the planet, and be careful they close the pool a ton of times in the summer without notice, generally due to maintenance issues or scheduling conflicts. While the food IS good (kudos to restaurant managment) :), the customer service treats you as if you're lucky to be here :(.

I am blown away by the amount of inconsistency I have seen in the last 3 days. I have been a member for a little over a year with absolutely zero issues until Saturday Jan 14th. I brought my partner in to sign up and the woman at the front desk had her fill out a form on the supplied PC. That was fine, but it took forever and we needed to upload a pic but there was no camera so there was this dance we had to do to get a picture from her email - like, really? So the signup process was literally like a 20 to 30 minute ordeal. Then when it was done, we received an email saying the sign up is complete and will be active in 1 to 2 days. The woman at the front desk said "Just show people that email and you should be set." which we did and it was fine. A little frustrating, but fine.
We then come back the next day, and the woman at the front desk at the South looked confused about the email, and said we need to confirm with the people on the North side. It is becoming blatantly apparent that none of the people stationed at the front desks know the policy. So we go to the North side, they say we should be good, go back to the South side and explain they said we're good and we then go workout. More frustrating but fine.
Then we come back this morning, Monday Jan 17th and walk into the South side gym only to be met with the all-too-familiar confusion from the front desk person who then requested my partner go to the North side and "Fill out a waiver" What? First we are hearing about that. So my partner goes to the North side while I begin my workout and I get a text from her "They won't let me workout." Furious I walk to the entrance to find her and she tells me the person at the North side said "We can't find you in the system so there is nothing we can do."
For the amount of money they require for signup it is reasonable to expect at least some consistency. There is no process and if there is no one seems to know what that process is. I have loved this place and had no issues when signing up but this recent experience has been an absolute joke. If the policy is "You can't start here until the account has been processed" thats okay, just let us know that. If the email is enough, great - make sure everyone knows that policy so we don't have to waste time. If there is a waiver we need to sign - let us sign it. Every gym and athletic club I have been a part of has this process streamlined and easy to understand. For the way Woodside presents itself one would expect something similar - unfortunately, it is the polar opposite. Unclear policy and direction with a hefty price-tag. Very disappointed.

This used to be a 5-star review but I’ve lowered it to 3.
Woodside has really fallen off on their tennis program. Clinics will have 6-8 people trying to play on a single court- you’re crowded or paying to wait for your turn to play. The closing of the south courts has forced tight schedules that have all but destroyed competitive play- there’s no winter inter-club play, and club play forces play after 9 pm on weekdays. You can see members are disappointed- hardly anyone is playing. Meanwhile, courts sit abandoned because of unclaimed permanent court time. Woodside could fine people for not using their court time, but it doesn’t matter to them- they get paid either way.
The gym facilities are fine. The new south club seems like it might be nice. But I don’t think the cost is worth it just for the gym.
Many long time members are leaving because of how tennis has been treated. I may be joining them.

Pay attention to your account charges!
Club is nice would rate it 5 starts but the club allows anyone to charge to your account. They are in the process of refunding me (apparently, will update if they actually do). The explanation I was give was it must have been an “accident”. Their system should not allow charges to an account if you are not signed in at the club. Or have staff actually check IDs to ensure they are charging the right account.
I asked questions on how and who and what was going to be done to ensure this was not going to happen again. None of those questions were answered, I got a reply stating they were forwarding it to account for review, also since the 1st charge (that I didn’t do) is over the 60 day disputes.

I have been a member for 9 years. Recently I notified over charges for food and beverage plus a nanny pass and child add one that were not able to be fully used due to pool closure for minors/covid abs was refunded an amount that it’s not reflect the 24 day early closure. I was working with membership services to try and resolve and was told in an email their billing system was sub par. I had a credit card on file and made a good faith payment but requested that overage charges needed to be removed/refunded. I was not notified in writing I was being terminated and sent to collections. I am now working with an attorney, have filed with the BBB and the atty general of KS. Be careful if you try and dispute any charges. I do enjoy the gym and the pool/tennis but the service under this management is sub par.

Their workout classes are amazing. They're extremely challenging and you're guaranteed to burn a TON of calories. Currently though, it's extremely difficult to get into the classes and I constantly find myself on standby. The covid restrictions have drastically decreased class capacity and therefore it's very competitive to get a spot in a group workout class which is always very frustrating. Overall nice facility in the main building, the 2nd building is pretty outdated but you don't have to spend much time there. It is however, less crowded.

Woodside is my gym. I like it. It has some cool features you don't always find in gyms. And I havr been to a lot of gyms. It blends almost a country/tennis club vibe with nicely outfitted workout area. With that said, the main clubhouse is small. Luckily it is never too crowded. I have never had to wait on any cardio machines and rarely had to wait on weights. I suppose in the busy hours it can be a little congested. But, what gym isn't. A unique feature of this gym is it has a separate building with a track - a huge class studio with all the equipment you could ever need,a top notch spin class room and some more basic weight area along with plenty of good cardio machines. On that note, I have never seen a cardio machine out of operation. Some of their older pieces are pretty worn and could use some replacements in the main club house. In the main club house they have a nice little spa area. They also have a small pool/hot tub/sauna/steam area which is quite nice. In the summer months, the outdoor pools are awesome. The adult pool has almost a Vegas vibe and the kid lower pool is huge with a diving board.
They have a food and beverage center with good food that is reasonably priced and seemingly healthy.
Though I don't play, the tennis portion of the club seems quite popular.
As far as the improvements are concerned, without a doubt, the main need is the locker rooms. They are older and in serious need of a remodel - shower areas included. My only other main gripe is the hours. It closes at 7 on the weekends. That is just way to early in my opinion. Especially in the summer months. It closes at 10 on weekdays which I suppose is okay, but I think a 11 or even midnight closing time would be much more appropriate.
Nevertheless, it is a well maintained and mostly well cleaned club. Again, The locker rooms and even the bathrooms throughout the club need attention.
