The pool is always colder than other YMCA's I've been in. The showers or not that clean and there is only 2 shower heads left in the men's shower plus there'sno private showers. The maintenance of this place is poor. For what you pay a month X's how many people that pays they could fix things better

I'm a bit pissed at the Pittsburg KS YMCA... I was told to cancel my membership by the 6th to avoid being charged for June, I was still charged on the 10th. After calling them several different days, with promise of somebody getting back with me.... I was told today, June 26th that I wouldn't receive a refund. She said I should have canceled before the 1st. Even tho one of their employees told me wrong. 🀬

The Pittsburg YMCA is, without exaggeration, the most disorganized and mismanaged establishment I’ve had the misfortune of dealing with in this town. We joined last week and regretted it almost immediately.

From the start, our membership has been a complete mess β€” our account doesn’t register properly, it pulls up completely different names, and we have zero access to other Y locations. It’s as if we don’t actually exist in the system, which raises serious questions about how memberships are being handled here.

When I asked about the state of the facility β€” namely the broken sauna and whether any updates were planned β€” I was given a bizarre answer about the Neosho location’s manager supposedly helping Pittsburg. I’m sorry, but why does a gym in another city need to swoop in to manage this location? Should I be calling them for support instead? In fact I think I will!

The staff, while polite enough, never have the faintest idea what’s going on. Basic questions are met with shoulder shrugs, blank stares, or vague β€œI’m not sure” responses. There’s no information, no accountability, and definitely no urgency. As for the manager? Perpetually unavailable and never returns calls β€” assuming they exist at all. This place is one bad day away- if not there already- to being fraudulent.

We’ll be canceling in person once we’re back in town, and hopefully we’ll get to see this elusive manager in real life. Rest assured, we’ll also be reporting this location to YMCA corporate. Whatever this place is, it certainly isn’t operating to YMCA standards.

Nice place it’s fun to workout here and I love how clean this place is ! I met this cute guy Connor in the men’s locker room as I was getting changed and he hit on me and we swam shirtless together and lifted weights together it was so hot. The pool was really nice and warm. There was one issue. Big spider in a web outside the main entrance almost walked right into it. Connor got scared and we both cuddled until we found a way to knock it down. The web was back by time we got in the car . Please eradicate this spider and its big ass web !!

Have tried calling for going on 3 weeks to rent the pool for a birthday party. No one knows what they’re doing and the β€œguy” in charge never returns calls. Now no one answers the phone at all. Horrible customer service for a community center

Mostly closed, it was a good clean gym. Focus is no longer on people. Guess I can't complain too much facilit is usually empty so you don't have to wait to get on equipment.

I cannot stress my dissatisfaction with this YMCA. To start, the facility is absolutely disgusting. There’s a noticeable bug problemβ€”I’ve personally seen roaches and crickets. The lack of attention to cleanliness is appalling, especially for a facility that’s supposed to promote health and wellness. It’s clear that cleanliness is not a priority here, and it’s honestly a health hazard. The staff is no better. Most employees are unhelpful, unprofessional, and always glued to their phones instead of assisting members. The front desk staff is particularly clueless and has no idea what’s going on, especially when it comes to gymnastics or other classes. Whether it’s enrolling, unenrolling, handling payments, or simply answering questions, they’re completely unreliable. Don’t even bother calling because you’ll just waste your time getting vague or contradictory answers. The air conditioning is another major issueβ€”it always seems to be broken, no matter the time of year. The building is either uncomfortably hot and stuffy or freezing cold, making it impossible to exercise comfortably. There’s clearly no effort being put into fixing these ongoing problems. The accommodations are severely limited, the equipment is outdated and insufficient, and the hoursβ€”especially on weekendsβ€”are ridiculously inconvenient. This place does not cater to the needs of its members at all. On top of all this, the payment system is a total mess. I’ve experienced issues with balances, unexplained charges, and errors when trying to enroll or unenroll from classes. It’s almost as if they’re more interested in taking your money than providing a decent experience. And good luck trying to resolve any of these issuesβ€”the staff and management are so disorganized, you’ll never get a straight answer. The lack of communication, combined with the dirty facility, unhelpful staff, dysfunctional air conditioning, and lackluster amenities, makes this place an absolute joke. If you’re considering joining, save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere.

I called to see what my balance was so I could take care of it...it's over 350 dollars!! All because I "didn't leave a paper trail canceling my membership." I've been taking my family here for years during the summer time and I have NEVER had to leave a paper trail canceling my membership. But this time I was convinced to put a card on my account. That card isnt active anymore and they knowingly let my balance rack up and REFUSED to do anything about it because "I signed an agreement." Apparently the YMC membership renews it self at the beginning of the year if you dont say otherwise. Really disappointed that this "Christian" facility is so money hungry that they would be okay with this. James would of never allowed this!! He ACTUALLY cared, unlike the new manager.

I wouldn't ever go to this YMCA if I could afford for my daughter to take dance somewhere else or if there was another indoor pool. We didn't know that when we signed our daughter up for dance classes that they followed the college students' schedule, so we showed up for class only to wait around then have someone tell us that classes wouldn't resume until the college was back in school! So unprofessional!! WE ARE PAYING CLIENTS! The pool seems to be closed as much as it's open. Went there this past weekend and the hours had changed and the whole facility was closed. The pool ours for any family swim are: Mon-Wednesday 7-8, Thursday-Friday 6-8, Saturday 11-2. What parents only want to take there kids swimming at bedtime? Except Sat. when they get a whole 3 hours. We canceled our membership because we are poor and more often than not the pool was closed for a myriad of reasons! They advertise a sauna, but I'd like to know where? There is some empty contraption in the women's locker room? Half the time the kids working there don't know what they are talking about!! Like I said, we are poor so we have no choice if our daughter wants to dance to go there. You get what you pay for!!

Don't trust this facility they are clearly not properly trained as someone laying flat perfectly still DYING for almost 15 minutes isn't completely obvious to them the lifeguard Stephanie will just stand by laughing and joking as your child literally drowns. It Is absolutely infuriating that she is still working there and putting others at risk after costing an accomplished athlete his life! What If this had been a small child? She is the reason someone lost their son, their brother. What Is the point of a lifeguard If they are not obligated to take life saving measures in event of someone directly in her care drowning?! Obviously her position is unnecessary as she isn't preventing anything or saving anyone. This young man was an accomplished athlete what if this had been a small child? I 100% recommend staying away and keeping your children away from this place!

Crystal James

β˜… 1

The lifeguards at this YMCA let’s kids drown & not do anything to help them till it’s to late. They will record you drowning & laugh about it, instead of doing their jobs & help. Instead of firing these people, they still employ them. Be careful when you swim, you might drown & die next!

I swim at the Y every morning. The facilities are excellent and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The cost per month beats anything I have found. It is a great place to improve your health.

I posted this review 10 months ago. At that time, every word was true. Unfortunately, in the intervening months, a complete 180 has occurred. In June, a tragedy befell the facility, and a young man drowned. Since then, the pool has been in disarray. They have had staffing issues as most pools have had and were closed for about three mobths. When they did reopen, they did not communicate it. They opened for one hour in the middle of the morning for lap swimming. The next week, they changed, once again, no notice.

They opened full time with their old hours for about one month. They then closed again and are still closed due to maintenance issues. Why the maintenance wasn't done when they were closed the first three months is unknown. No communication. The staff behind the desk.... top notch.

The pool has been open 1 month out of 7. Unacceptable.

If you are looking for a gym that appears to be an experiment with poor management and an insufficient budget, look no further. The same broken old machines, inoperable hot tubs, torn carpet, broken floor tiles, leaky roof, poor pool schedule, and new on the spot policies that are not provided to members all at a price you can pay at more modern facilities. In 3 1/2 yrs. of membership it has only gotten worse. They closed for COVID and still collected dues but have made no improvements. Clearly, they do not care to provide even a minimally adequate facility.

Pool hours suck. Family time is Very limited!! Family swim is a couple hours a day in the evenings… most kids have bed times around 8, yet half of the week it doesn’t open to families until 7. And it’s still open to anyone during those times so seniors come in and yell at kids for being in their way. We wouldn’t have gotten a membership if we had known considering the pool is the only reason we got a membership and will very likely not renew next year

A good variety of offerings. They have a workout area for treadmill elipticals and weights. They also have a yoga room, racquetball courts, dedicated women's workout area and large pool.

They offer classes for dance and gymnastics as well as too many others to list. If you can imagine it as beneficial to the community they probably have a program for that or know where to find one locally.

They also have one of the cheapest memberships which is recognized nationally so you can use y's in other cities.

I'm sure it's a great place to work out but it was one of the worst venues for the Tri-State swim meet. Indoor bathrooms were closed - visitors and swimmers were forced into porta potties. We were crammed through the back door into crowded bleachers. Absolutely no precautions for COVID. Will not be attending another swim meet in Pittsburg. They could take a few lessons from other venues.

I paid for both my daughters to play youth basketball this year at the ymca. We have yet to hear from the coaches and I called this morning to talk to the secretary and ask her if she could give me any information on it or if she could give me a number of someone to call that might know. She was very unhelpful and rude! She acted like it was an inconvenience that I wanted to leave my name and number for the director of the ymca to call me back. I have my receipts for were I paid for my daughters to play. I believe I have the right to have a concern about not hearing back. We love this program and it was never and issue when jack bache was the director of the ymca I truly hope the new director sees this and makes this situation right! Very upset and concerned if my daughters start there season late or don’t end up getting to play because someone doesn’t wanna do their job!

I’ve came here for 14 years. Employees come and go. We started to have issues a few months back. We figured the and it resulted in me paying two months that I didn't even use because we were told it was cancelled... I paid it and considered it water under the bridge.

I accidentally forgot my blender bottle. I called the front desk and asked if they could grab it. I called back they said they did and put it up front.

I went up a couple days after and low and behold it was gone and the blonde girl treated me like I was an idiot for expecting them to hold it for me. I told her I was told it would be held she sassed back that there is nothing.

There are many options for fitness facilities in Pittsburg. I have spoke to a many people who have cancelled their memberships due to the lacking customer service skills and attitude.

I’ve been a member for 27 years and do not appreciate the way I was treated.
