We started our seven month old in swim classes almost 6 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier with the decision! They had so many time options and we picked an evening class that aligned with both mine and my husband’s schedule. He ended up with Coach Ashly and we continually talk about how happy we are that he did! She made both of us parents and our baby feel so at easy and we can already tell how much more comfortable he is in the water, even after just a few lessons.

I am so beyond furious at this school. I contacted them to inquire about swimming lessons for my 4 year old son and I very clearly communicated multiple times to 2 different people that my child had ZERO experience swimming without myself or my husband and always with the assistance of floaties, and that he is very nervous in the water. I was told that he would be a level 3 because of his age and I reiterated that he had NO prior swimming experience. I was assured that this would be the appropriate class for him.

When we showed up to his trial lesson straight off of the steps the instructor dunked my child completely under water and held him there for a few seconds. My child came up in absolute terror sobbing and gasping. The instructor continued to dunk my child under water multiple times as my son was sobbing and screaming “I DON’T LIKE THIS.” Another instructor came into the pool and spoke to my child kindly, however, she also continued to completely disrespect my child’s boundaries and literally DRAG him from the side of the pool as he was screaming bloody murder, desperately clinging to the side of the pool, filling the entire room with his screams. I ended his lesson early and pulled him from class. He is absolutely traumatized. It was NEVER communicated to me that my child would be dunked under water at their very first swim lesson or I would have never, ever taken him to this school. It’s worth noting that another child in my child’s class was sobbing as she arrived for class and sobbing during the lesson as well. I overheard her mother sitting next to us telling what looked to be her grandmother that for her first lessons she was screaming and crying so hard that she had to be held by a second instructor the entire class. Gosh, I wonder why?! The teaching model here for older children who are beginners is abysmal. I understand that there will have to be a certain level of pushing more scared children out of their comfort zones to overcome their fears, however blatantly disregarding their boundaries and overwhelming them repeatedly with things they are not ready for at all is totally unacceptable. I am truly at a loss for words as to how livid I am about this situation. My husband was so upset that he said he has no appetite for dinner and he feels sick after this class. When I was a child I took swimming lessons at my local recreation center and I was never dunked under water before I was ready. We started with kicking our feet while holding the side of the pool and blowing bubbles in the water with our heads above water. I am an extremely strong swimmer after a long time of swimming lessons and I never had a traumatic experience at all, it was ALWAYS a positive experience. I am teaching my child things like the importance of consent and personal boundaries and this school is teaching the exact opposite. If that’s where you want to put your child that is your choice, but I wasn’t even informed that was going to happen and that’s why I’m so, so angry about this.
I spoke to another swim school in the area on the phone about this situation and was told that the level my child would enter at has them do 6-9 lessons of water familiarity and fun before attempting to have them go under water. So clearly, this isn’t everyone’s teaching model. I will never ever step foot in this swim school again and thankfully I didn’t pay them anything or sign a contract of any kind with them.

Side note: Speaking of contracts, when I signed the waivers for my child to enter class there was a specific section that stated that if my child became overwhelmed, a disruption, or a distraction that I consented to have him end class early and be removed from class. When my child began screaming and having a panic attack (because that’s what was happening to him), why was he not removed from class or at the very least eased up on his participation? My child was having a panic attack and he was not treated like a human being. At no point would you do what was done to my child to an adult. Consent doesn’t matter to these people.

My 5 and 3 year old girls have been attending aqua tots for a little over a year. At times I’ve felt disappointed about certain classes, instructors and how excited or not excited they are to see and teach my children, the class time on task, products in the changing room being fully stocked, coffee or cups being stocked or not stocked (come on…mama needs her coffee!!), feedback from the instructors being valid vs. useless, information on my parent app being current or not…however, after over a year attending the swim school, I’d say it’s worth it!! My girls are making so much progress and really look forward to class- especially since we’ve found instructors that have JOY on their face when they see my girls, they’re funny, caring, HIGHLY QUALIFIED and they give me useful tips and tricks to help the girls at home! We have been so thankful for Lyric and Max! Most recently, my girls have told me how funny Max is and how he makes everything so fun! I love that and appreciate his kindness and his genuine interest in the girls steady progression of swim skills! Lyric and max always have such a welcoming, positive and strong presence when working with students and it’s so appreciated and makes every swim class one to look forward to! I have had the worst experience ever with this school. I initially called to request a pause in my membership due to a five-week trip and was informed that I would need to speak with a manager. Despite numerous calls, I was repeatedly told that the manager would call me back, but I did not receive a call until after the holiday season in January. Finally, on January 8, I called again, spoke with the owner, and the manager subsequently called me back, promising to honor my initial request from December and told me the last bill will be only in January (30day notice). Today, I received a call from another lady informing me that I would still be charged for another month, prorated for eight days, totaling $60. This is despite the fact that they spoke with me with the First Lady. I don't mind to pay 60$ buck but the staffs are so irresponsible, not professional.

We’ve been apart of the Aqua-Tots family for a year and a half now, but it feels like so much longer! Everyone is always so welcoming and eager to help each kiddo. I pay $27 for each group lesson. Group classes are advertised as 30 minutes with a max of 4 kids per class. In realty it is 25 minutes for in-water instruction and 5 minutes for parent/child feedback. However, in the in group setting, on average the children have 6.25 minutes of in the water actual swim instruction each. We've been constant with classes for 10 months but for the price and quality we are going to start doing private one on one lessons at the YMCA.

Some advice if you choose to go with Aqua-Tots...don't hop around exposing your child to different instructors because it will hinder swim progress and it will take an eternity for you child to move levels.

Try your best to get your same swim instructor when scheduling make-up classes. Otherwise, it's a waste of a class because instructors say they can't accurately speak on swim progress until they see the child do the swim repetition on three separate occasions.

You must advocate for your children and their progress. Make sure to download the app and familiarize yourself with the requirements for each level and ask questions.

Communication is not the best and a call back from the store manager may take over a week if you're lucky. I'm on day 8 and still counting.

Our 4 year old LOVES her lessons at Aqua Tots. We were worried at first because she hated soccer and gymnastics, but the individuating attention and encouragement she gets from her coaches makes her love going. After each lesson, she asks to go again and she's already gained so much confidence in the water!

Every instructor she's had has been attentive and caring, and safety is obviously the number one concern. Our normal class day is Sundays and the gentleman at the front desk is so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend for anyone considering lessons!

The staff at Aqua-Tots - Hamburg show they truly care about our children and providing them with this life-saving skill. Drowning is one of the top ways small children unfortunately lose their lives and these lessons are made to provide them ways to survive; through muscle memory and teaching them not to fear, but to respect the boundaries of the water.

We love Aqua Tots! Learning to swim is super important and they go very in depth teaching kids how to swim! This location in particular is brand new! I had been waiting for this location to open up prior to Covid shutdown and I’m happy that I waited on them for swim lessons. I am so impressed with this place! I was skeptical that my infant could learn anything about swimming or water safety at such a young age, but after several weeks of classes it is undeniable that she is not only learning, but also having a blast. The instructors are friendly and knowledgeable and the facility itself is always clean. There's even a coffee bar! 😁

Lexi loves swim classes! She always enjoys going each week! We started bringing her at 5 months old and each class she has gotten more and more advanced. We have been attending aqua tots since they opened end of May. My 2 year old did not love the first day but has loved everyday since ! My 4 year old enjoyed the first day but stopped liking it. It was liking pulling teeth to get her to go. We decided to ask today what we should do. We talked to the GM, Katie and she super helpful. She worked with us and my 4 year old had a great swim night ! She was happy the whole class. The staff are all so friendly at aqua tots and would definitely recommend it. If your child is afraid like mine, just ask ! Staff were happy to help ! Thank you !

Ziggy came to Aqua-Tots with anxiety about getting his face wet and putting his head underwater. We’ve been swimming with Aqua Tots for 5 years now. Both of my boys enjoy coming to swim lessons as well as learning the fundamentals of water safety. My oldest son (6) is such a confident swimmer now and loves the water. My youngest (3) struggled with breath control when he first started and now is comfortable with holding his breath under water as well as learning all new skills. The staff has always been highly friendly and helpful when it comes to scheduling. The facility is always clean and accommodates all your needs for lessons. I highly recommend Aqua Tots for any parent looking to get their child to be better swimmers.

My 2 year old completed her 3rd class at Aqua-Tots Hamburg this week! I’m really pleased with her progress. She has gone from fearing the water, to having fun in the water in such a short period of time! I noticed other children in her classes having fun and progressing as well.
The facility is clean and well maintained. I really love the self-sanitizing baby changing table in the bathroom.
The flexible make up classes, as well as the small group classes mean everything to us! Aqua-Tots really has it figured out! I am recommending everyone take their kids here to learn to swim. We are really pleased!

My 4 year old Bostyn is very shy and because I work remote, she isn’t used to interacting with others besides family. We signed her up for Aqua-Tots hoping she would socialize with other kids. Not only has she done that, but she has made friends, gotten comfortable with the wonderful adults who are always so welcoming and encouraging, and always looks forward to the next class. Top notch. Very impressed so far. Only two visits but everyone has been so welcoming and patient with our wild child. Feedback and ways to practice techniques are given at every lesson.

The new facility is beautiful, super clean and the best in customer service, all the staff are so friendly and kindness. Specially coach Ashly, she is amazing!! she is bilingual, she has the ability to connect immediately with all the kids and in our particular case she was really emphatic with our autistic son, who is achieving great results.
