I went to the grand opening of the new location on Breckenridge Ln because I know a guy who used to train there and he spoke highly of it. Its a great facility and there are a lot of students there.
They offer a free class, so with some misgivings (I'm an older guy, in my late 50s) I showed up for the class for "Fundamentals of Muay Thai". I was pretty clumsy, but some of the other students there gave me some help with hand positioning and things. There ARE some guys there who ARE ABOUT IT, for sure!
I'm used to going to bodybuilding types of gyms, where you do a set and maybe let your mind wander. Thats not how things are done here, lol! You have to keep focus. And when the Muay Thai Teacher had us all punch the punching bags with the combination that we learned that day, I was hooked!
All kinds of people in that room, and we were bringing the fire! There is an energy in this place thats hard to describe. But if you are thinking about looking into it, I hope that you do, because, oh man! GOOD TIMES!
I'm still new at this, but I signed up and I intend to keep trying to learn it and practice. The teachers are awesome and SO ARE THE STUDENTS. I didn't think that groups of people like this existed anymore. I'm so glad that I was wrong.
And don't be afraid of stepping outside of your comfort zone and learning something new and striving to progress. And this gym here is the place to do it.
Boxing, BJJ, wrestling, and my own choice, Muay Thai Boxing!
And, oh, the weight room facilities that they have there are more than adequate - better than most silver era weight rooms would have. Benches, cables, fly station, GHR, captain's chair, hack squat, and more. There's even turf there.

I joined this gym to learn boxing and get in shape. I’m not going to lie it was difficult at first, especially after being pretty sedentary in an office job for two years. After pushing myself and going consistently to the classes, I could tell I was improving. It also helped that most of the members, staff, and Coach Aaron were very friendly and that motivated me to keep going. Unfortunately I had to stop going because of my new work schedule, but I would recommend this place to anyone!

The diverse range of classes, including MMA, boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu, ensures that there’s something for everyone.
The facility itself is top-notch, with so much room, it includes a boxing ring, matted areas, and a fully equipped gym. I like to highlight how clean, organized, and well-maintained the space is.
Area 502 MMA receives high marks for its focus on community, personal growth, and professional-level training. Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, learn self-defense, or train at a competitive level, Area 502 MMA comes highly recommended.

Area 502 mma is the best gym that I have ever stepped into. For one the experience and knowledge that’s in area 502 is really unmatched. Head coach Phillip Perkins who is a black belt knows just about everything you can when it comes to marital arts. And he has trained more fighters then probably anyone else in the state a lot of those fighters now coaching as well. So to sum it up if you want to learn marital arts there isn’t a better place to learn then area 502. But what really sets it off to me is the gym is really like a family. The staff the coaches so many diff students of all types come together to achieve similar goals together. Everyone wants to see you achieve what you set out to do and when you do are genuinely happy for you or if you fail there there to pick you up and go after it again. Best coaching best team great youth program great boxing program great prices as well

Took a trial a while back and I can't stop thinking about how bad it was... I wasn't welcomed by anyone, had to find someone to get help, and then thrown into a regular class with no instruction whatsoever. I don't have any grappling background but was expected to do throws I've never done with no instruction. Eventually the person who partnered with me showed me SOMETHING with the technique but when I approached the instructor to introduce myself when there was a small break, he proceeded to not really awknowledge me and ignore me. Bald dude. I tried my best for the entire class, but at the time I hadn't been in anything active in years and I tried to vocalize that I was going so hard my heart was going to explode. Then I watched someone break their foot and that was pretty much the class.
I then got an offer from the Muay Tai instructor to jump in his session which I said I probably wouldn't do well because I'd tried so hard to keep up without any help before. I sparred until I collapsed and was on the verge of throwing up and when the instructor asked why I was on the floor, I told him I was out of shape compared to everyone and completely out of energy which was responded with "we don't take excuses here". I stayed for an extra class after pushing MYSELF as hard as I could in a trial class and took the extra initiative to do more until I physically couldn't, but you're right this is just an excuse. Have done some traditional martial arts and there was structure, respect, and instruction I don't feel like I got any of that here. I'd definitely try somewhere else. This experience almost made me give up on Louisville based MMA

Stopped in to multiple gyms this month to see what felt like home, I have a small amount of boxing background but never been anywhere near wrestling, jujitsu or muay Thai. Seeing they have instructors for multiple disciplines and areas for each to train was very impressive so I really wanted to check them out.
Gabi was extremely welcoming and allowed me to try a class for free. Every single person in that class helped me anytime they saw me struggling with any technique I was learning. Ruben the Muay Thai instructor is probably the most friendly and kind person I’ve ever “ trained under “ and Phillip the owner went out of his way to greet myself and another new comer, since then I’ve been back twice and Phillip has welcomed me everytime he saw me, everyone encourages newcomers to return and are willing to help in anyway they can. It’s very evident early on that this gym is a family not just a business.
I could honestly type another paragraph about my experience and how great it’s been, needless to say this will be where I train and I’m extremely excited to get some work in with this team. 10/10 crew

This is such a WONDERFUL gym! There are many classes, and such a great group of coaches.
My son and I have been going to this gym for about 5 years and it has been one of the best things I could have done for my son. They have a really huge training area, so it was really easy to go as a mom, and take my son with me. He would have kids class while I did my class on the other side of the gym, so I could see him the whole time and felt safe. Now he’s big enough to do adult class with me and how cool is that?
Each class is different so I would recommend trying a few classes before making judgment, find what is right for you.
I also like that their is a great weightlifting area in The Jungle Gym so you have everything you need in this one huge building.
It’s clean, and there are a great group of people from all walks of life, of all ages that attend. There’s something for everyone.

Would be 5 star but….
EDIT: I have now edited this review to a five star. Thank you for the reply
EDIT 2: I have now come to another conclusion that the training is quite expensive. Not to mention the fees you pay on your first sign up. A very expensive I believe $140. I do not understand this and I believe it has caused a lot of people to steer away from it. Maybe to a different gym.
Boxing is $100 a month which isn't bad until you take into comparison of other gyms offering around $50-70 a month. Not to Take anything away from this gym. It's still good but it is pricey.
Also boxing coaches without a doubt have favorites
So in my opinion this is a great gym overall but here are a few reasons why I didn’t give it a 5 star.
The boxing classes are boring and many, not just me but many feel that they are not learning much because all we do is hit the bag which is great for workout and form but we do not feel we can get good at boxing by just hitting the bag. And we wish the coach would do more one on one training.
Muay Thai is great but i believe the coach should go over details more.
As for the wrestling, it’s a 10/10 just wish there were more classes. But still a 10/10

Been training here for a little more than a year. Coaches are good at what they do in every way. Most of the training partners Ive had know when to push you, and when to back off. Every training partner Ive had is willing to help you learn. And also willing to learn from you. Lost 60-70 pounds in a year and had great experiences. The only problem I can think of is that sometimes there's not enough space for everyone training. But really that just means that there are lots of people coming to class and staying after to practice. Says alot about the quality and culture of the gym.

Dropped in the new location tonight and gotta say, world class facility. Huge gym, multiple mats, ring, and weight training/cardio area.
Everyone was great, coach was extremely helpful and people were very friendly. Definitely the gym to goto on this side of town, and one of the top in the city (from what I saw I'd say the top for boxing / mma).
Great to see the gym grow to the size it is now in such a short time. They deserve it. Check it out for sure
