I loved going here in the past because of the pool and the different fitness classes. The way the ownership runs the place they seem like they didn’t care from leaking roofs, messy locker rooms, and equipment that needed repaired. Not to mention the way the management did their own employees and members dirty by giving a short notice that they were closing at the end of the month. Only rating three stars for the friendly customer service Macy has provided at the membership desk and from the front desk people in general

Seriously guys I love this place I’m there six days out of the week. I enjoy the classes that are included in the membership. My favorite is the aquatic aerobics class and the Zumba class. There’s different times for each one of them in case you can’t make it to one then you have another shot of making it to another. I don’t have kids, but I noticed there’s a daycare there also They have a indoor pool outdoor pool, a hot tub and a sauna, which is really great for detoxing after a good workout!

I have been a member at ESFC on and off since I was a kid. They have made many improvements other the years to make the facility better for their members. Super grateful for the first responders discount, and am excited to bring my own kids there come summer time!
The lap pool is great for indoor swimming. Being able to reserve a lane time slot is helpful to ensure it is open. Really hoping the app becomes available for android users soon though so I can access it from my phone rather than my husband's iPad, the only apple product we own. 😅
The extra weight room down by basketball courts is great and provides a huge variety of cable machines and free weights. Lots of treadmills and other cardio machines. The sauna and hot tub are a great way to either start or end a workout session.
Desk employees are always super friendly and very helpful! Keep up the good work!

This is the absolute worst gym I have EVER stepped foot in. Anyone who has ever gone to a real gym will know that. Machines are constantly broken, dumbbells are never in their designated area, and the seats of equipment are miraculously always missing. Their “renovations” somehow made the gym worse and less appealing. The building is actually falling apart and the owners are too cheap to repair! The roof was leaking for months before any sign of repairs. The building is only ever repaired when it is ABSOLUTELY in need. Children roam free and love to throw basketballs around in the weightlifting area. I’m not sure how children are even allowed in the facility when you’re supposed to be 18+ when entering the premises. The staff is RUDE and lack any customer service skills and respect. The other day, I was harassed by a ginger worker who was absent from the desk cowering in the break room…. why??? Simply because all of their employees are LAZY and lack work etiquette. Additionally, ANYBODY is allowed to enter the premises because the workers let anybody slide into the gym without a membership. I feel unsafe knowing that there are nonmembers roaming around the premises. There is only one squat rack with safety’s so good luck when coming at a busy time. The place is just dirty and grimy… every-time I leave, I instantly feel the need to wash my hands. Typically throughout the season of summer there are crickets that love to infest the downstairs lifting area! The high schoolers NEVER rerack their weights because they lack simple gym etiquette as well. The owners are sexist…the new women’s only area is microscopic and entirely consumed by leg machines, unlike the previous women’s only area. They also threw in a janky smith machine that they bought off of facebook marketplace from someone’s garage in there! By all means I would only go to this gym if I was a 14 year old boy. I also forgot to mention how expensive the membership is in itself. $40 for one individual is insane considering they don’t even clean or mop the floors!! I was heading downstairs to the weightlifting area, touched the railing and instantly got paint slathered all over the crevices of my hands due to the humidity. There was a humidifier pointing towards the direction of the railings but clearly that was ineffective. I would rate this place a -5 stars if I could. I will NEVER and I mean EVER be returning to this pitiful gym.

This gym has very poor management and ownership in my opinion. They only offer basketball through a small window of hours and out the basketball hoops up at 6pm. They also don’t care for their customers equipment as they have machines that should be locked out with work order tags on them. Not to mention we pay 30-40$ a month . My membership alone for 6 months was more than enough to have basketballs that don’t look like they were picked up from a garbage dump. Easily replaceable and capable of purchasing decent quality basketballs for their customers but have yet to do that for at least a year. Many times water puddles sit on the floor with no sign. Not to mention the men and women at the desk don’t ever air up basketballs. Pick up the spills or messes on the floors. Manage equipment or anything. The downstairs men’s bathroom looks like a crime scene and yet still the owner and their management can not take the time and effort to get them up and running again. This gym is poorly managed and poorly owned. They will take all of your memberships and never change fix or keep up with any of the equipment . I saw two young girls trying to train playing basketball with their father using the gyms flat basketballs. Yes we can bring our own.. but we pay money for our memberships and this gym is more than capable of having good basketballs. Yet these kids had to train with flat basketballs that were ripped up. Sad excuse for a gym and for gym management

Steven at the front desk was very rude and came to me and my friend and started yelling at us over some high school drama. He didn’t check us in with our memberships and then accused me later on about not having a membership and started yelling at me mid workout. Needless to say, i left the gym and will be cancelling my membership. (Not to mention) he was not at the front desk to help other patrons who needed assistance, but was hiding in the break room. Come on Etown Swim, get you some better workers🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I first joined this gym May 2020. Initially I thought the price of $69 a month for the family membership plan was a great value. The staff were always friendly and I saw a great value in the two hours of childcare that they offered. However, the aesthetics of the gym were always lacking. The men’s locker room was dated and the shower room always had a urine smell.

None of this bothered me too much because I took in account the last few years we were doing with a pandemic and business obviously slowed and they probably weren’t able to do the updates that they wanted to.

However, recently, they increased the membership fee to over $80 a month from $69 without notification and without justification. When I called the front desk to addressed my concerns and inquire as to why there was an increase the only response I got was “the general manager felt like it.”

In my opinion, paying over $80 a month for a gym that has difficulties keeping pace with the aesthetics and cleanliness of other gyms in the area I have since canceled my membership. Additionally, receiving such a lame response as to why the price increase furthered my decision to cancel my
membership.

Very disappointing seeing the management take action, such as price increases without justifying it. Because of this, I would recommend someone to check out other gyms in the Etown area.

Lady at the front desk around midday (Macy), late 40's early 50's it seems, is extraordinarily patronizing and rude. What miniscule power she has, she wields to the maximum, all for $15/hr?!

Pool and dressing rooms located down 2 flights of stairs and not handicap accessible in any way.. we used indoor pool and hot tub but had to keep our bags on us at all times due to staff not allowing us to use a locker. ..which meant someone was always sitting outside pool to watch valuables had to swim in shifts. Only one set of steps and wasn't handicapp accessable plus steps had mold husband highly allergic.. dressing rooms had no ventilation or ac so hot u almost pass out getting changed. Only staff we saw was younger staff id guess 23 and below and they wasn't aprochable and no staff down stairs at all . Other male guest followed females into dressing rooms but used language barrier as excuse but kept dooring .... So keep ur kiddos under wing for safety

If I could rate them less than 1 star I certainly would. Dirty, equipment/facilities consistently broken or in need of repairs or replacement. Showers are gross, management staff uninterested in addressing member concerns. Pools down for months at a time and then closed to members for swim meets when they reopen. Just….no.

The gym is kind of outdated a positive note is the weight room has been expanded putting most all equipment all in the same room. Account management via online access is almost non-existent there is an app that lets you check in but that's about all it does and customer service seems a little low as I have been trying to switch plans for a couple weeks now but due to my job and not able to get there before 5:00 p.m. to talk to someone in person which is evidently criteria for any plan change. Compared to the options around though this is probably your best choice for the time being

Great gym, well maintained, respectful staff, clean, the smell is nostalgic. The equipment is top-notch. Hot tub is like a hot spring and amazingly powerful jets. Saunas get as hot as the devils private quarters. The showers are top notch for the mens room and can't speak on the women's. Indoor and outdoor pool is warm in the winter and perfect in the summer. Well worth the money.

TLDR: If you have no other options and must swim here, get a monthly membership. If you have a choice, go to The Y or Anderson.

I have been a member for several years, using only the pool. When you are a monopoly, there are few reasons to improve yourself, and E-town Swim and Fitness is no exception. Over the years, they have allowed parts of the pool to degrade and have not replaced old parts. This all caught up with them in December of 2022 when a very deep cold broke their pool effectively making them E-town Fitness Center. Because of the difficulty of getting new parts and the need to go through the insurance company, it took approximately 6 months for the pool to be fixed.

But don't worry! They staff let you know you could pause your membership. So you won't get your money back, but they aren't charging you for the time you're not using it. I called in January and paused my yearly account. Then I called a week later to confirm. Fast forward six months later, and, when the pool is finally fixed, I ask to unpause my account. The representative informed you cannot pause yearly accounts. So I was either lied to by two employees or, more likely, the staff they have is not properly trained by management.

I gave this place $200 for a service they did not provide. And it is my fault because it says right there in the contract. So, do yourself a favor and do not buy the yearly membership. If they do not value having a stable source of income, keep your options open. I strongly recommend the Y-Club in Louisville if you are able to go there or Anderson Pool in Fort Knox. I understand there are discounts for getting a yearly membership, but if you are out $200, how much did you really save? And, since I've been a member, the pool has been down 3 times. It happens all to common.

Good place to be but Super LOW maintenance.
Urinals in Men's locker haven't been working for months and no one cares to fix them even after requesting...!

Indoor pool closed since Dec 2022.
4 months have passed and still not fixed.
Keep paying full monthly charges but don’t get full service.
Yet another example of Low maintenance.

I have been a member of this gym off and on for over 18 years. This gym used to be the best gym in Elizabethtown. Some of my review is based on speculation and observation. It appears that this gym has a contract or something for young athletes. The gym has a lot of young teenagers working out and the gym appears mostly staffed by young teenagers. They have taken the women's workout area away downstairs and made the mens weight area bigger. (And I say Mens because that is the biggest target down there) I chose this gym over a year ago solely for the women's workout area downstairs. Now it has been reduced to a tiny stuffy enclosed area upstairs that does not hold much equipment. There are also weight machines upstairs but it is also taken over by the guys and men because this gym is BUSY!! Gym anxiety is real. It’s hard to feel comfortable working out at a gym when you feel intimidated. Maybe that’s my problem, but I know I am not alone in this.
You’ll be lucky to find a parking spot most of the time. The downstairs basketball court is chaotic. The gym doesn’t appear to get deep cleaned very often, the gym is in need of repairs-(missing ceiling tiles) it seems amenities are down for repair more often than not. (pool, hot tub)
This gym has a lot of potential and used to be really nice many years ago. The target population has just changed ALOT. I wish Etown had more options when it came to fitness. At the end of the day it all comes down to how bad do you want to meet your goals? If you can work around the negatives of the gym, they have what you need to get it done.

Only reason to come here is for the pool and free weights if that’s important to you. Overall much less accommodating than most other local gyms. Planet Fitness might not suit everyone’s needs but at least it’s open 24/7. Also, guest passes are treated oddly, only 2 a month and for some odd reason you can not get them past 5 PM. Most equipment is very outdated and a lot of the commodities tend to need repairs such as the whirlpool, sometimes being out of service for over a month. The free weight area is okay, it’s weirdly in the middle of a basketball court but it is walled off. They have one punching bag and one rhythm/speed bag and they are both loosely assembled and just oddly placed in the corner of the basketball court. It’s a gym to go to if you want a bit of everything, even if it is done at the bare minimum. 2/5, below average in every sense of the word.

This place was decent mid 2000's to 2010's. It's been somewhat downhill or stagnant since then. Not the cleanest place, very expensive for what you get, old facility and old equipment. These guys are absolutely top-notch! Specifically, I'd like to give a shout-out to the amazing swim program at ESFC. Their instructors are super busy and you may have to wait a few days to get worked into the program, but it's totally worth it. My daughter learned a ton from her instructor and I would highly recommend this program for anyone who is learning to swim for the first time or looking to improve as a swimmer.

Finally, I'd specifically like to say "Thank you!!" to Karlee. My daughter says that you are tops as a swim instructor, and I think that she's 100% right... 😊

Thanks so much!! Appreciate you guys!! 🥳

The women's locker room was trashed my first day - paper towels everywhere, a used latex glove on the floor, broken lockers, broken toilet, yuck! It's just so messy with no space. There's a whole bunch of muscle isolation machines crammed into a small space upstairs. The free weight room downstairs is a mess and is usually overcrowded. The floor is torn up and uneven. No lifting platforms - you just have to find some space to do deadlifts where no one will trip over you too much. No chalk. The cable machines need maintainance. Equipment scattered about like my kids bedroom. The only reason why I still come here is because there isn't really anywhere else to go. Ft Knox is too far away and Planet Fitness isn't lifter friendly.

Love everything the gym has to offer. No issues with the staff or fee. The facility however could use a face lift. The mat in the free weight area is a accident waiting to happen. And a few mirrors and benches broken. Once this has been fixed, I will definitely give this place a 5 star review

I joined Etown Swim & Fitness for the sole reason that they had daycare back in September 2019 after moving back from Florida. From the get go I had issues with the daycare and their cleanliness. I even went to management to address this issue within a week of joining. I had issues with the daycare staff in the late evening since I would find son’s arms red and tender as if someone had brusquely grabbed him. I stopped going in the evenings and started going during that afternoon. Those young women, I must say, did a wonderful job and never had issues. Hopefully they get a pay raise.

I haven’t been back (nor do I ever plan to) since March but the equipment wasn’t well maintained and some of it was rusty and felt like it would fall apart at anytime.

Once the pandemic hit, this place STILL tried to charge me $10.60. Why? They stated that they were providing live fitness classes and the track outside was kept open for gym members. First off, I cannot do LIVE classes. I have a 15 month old and no toddler is ever going to let you exercise in peace. I’m a single mom so it’s not like I can just ask my significant other to watch him. Second of all, I can stream wonderful fitness classes from YouTube using Roku FOR FREE! If I really want to walk outside I don’t want to drive all the way to this track when I can just walk out my door and exercise that way. Why would I waste gas and time driving to a track?

Anyway, I sent them a certified letter requesting an explanation in late March. It took them nearly 5 weeks to get back to me! At the end of their letter there owner stated she needed a response within 2 days? Ummmm what? It took her 4-5 weeks and she wants to put me in a bind and answer back in 48 hours! Crazy!

It’s crazy that they expect payment when they’re closed and not providing services. Once again, as a single mom during this pandemic, I think $10.60 can be used for a service or product that I am using or that my son needs!

Please join another fitness center in etown and steer clear of this place!

Great gym and staff. Slow to fix broken machines and equipment. Large variety of equipment but I do wish there were more squat racks.

I just signed up....it's not all I thought it would be...the strength training equipment is outdated. The two areas for weight training are just walled off areas in a big gymnasium. I'm thinking this place makes enough money to freshen this place up..more parking for goodness sake!

I joined for the free weight area downstairs, the other parts I can't speak for. The floor has large tears in it around the squat rack, which is the worst place for an uneven floor to be and has yet to be fixed in the 10 months I've been going. The majority of the dumbbells feel like they're going to fall apart in your hand when you pick them up. The barbells might as well be bare steel because the knurling on the majority of them is so worn down, you can't lift maximal weights without chalk (which isn't allowed).

Everytime I go the gym it's an issue..I guess being the only "real" gym you can make up little crazy rules..I miss the city where they have YMCA and Boys & Girls clubs and community centers ☹️...

The facility is very large and you can pretty much find any workout machine you need. Some of the equipment is older though and some of the dumbbells are rusted. The biggest issue we've had is that the WiFi does not work downstairs and it can be very frustrating. Other than that, the staff is very friendly, the pool area is great, and they offer a good variety of classes. I love that they allow you to bring a small cooler and pool toys to the pool area - other places don't allow that. The entire building is a bit of a maze, but you get used to it.

UPDATE: ......... ETSF has new owners and has seemed to terminated all the employees that were creating issues, restaffed. The indoor poor is constantly heated to 78-84 i cant rem.. and its not extra in the winter. April has special rates and there are amazing rates for seniors, military
and participating corporations.. its been rearranged a bit so its more friendly to the casual cardio tone , hard core lifter and also as always the ladies only area.....worth finding a friend and looking..

facility remains filthy and unkept. There was peppermint broken and and dirty socks and things for the better part of 3 hours. This is not the first occurance,  typically the men's area stays unsanitary,  you won't see a employee until I'm sure in the morning right about time they must come clean . It's clearly a reflection of horrible management at The highest levels and the failure of parenting for the ethics,  morals and values some of the so called young men ( for lack of a better word) exhibit.  I've discussed these issues with the i assume the GM. On more the one occasion .  The other lady that use to always run things with sort blond hair knew what right looked like, what management consisted of and how to exhibit strength and leadership . The facility is Reminiscent of a ghetto fabulous struggling YMCA. .

Good place to go swim and workout. Wish the hiring manager would be more picky about the kids she hired. One of them is really dumb, gave me and my mom a run around. Good thing my mom called before we left the parking lot and made sure the indoor pool was actually still open😂

I like the overall design of the gym. But my biggest complaint is how can Etown swim and fitness be such a big gym with one indoor basketball court. Its crazy how u have such little room that you have to turn a basketball court into a place to lift weights. Build onto the building if possible. I know money could be a issue but at least advertise to raise money. I mean dang lived in Vine Grove KY for 2 years before I even I herd of the gym. Now you can't bring a guest to play basketball. #KILL ME! PLEASE STEP YOUR GAME UP!!!

Doesnt even deserve any stars!!!! Me and my little sister went there and they said $10 a peice so I said no. Went to American Legion and there was a huge line! So my little sister was so upset so I said fine I will pay the $10 for both of us so she can swim! When we got there the guy that told us the price who was gonna let us had already gone so it was a different young man there and he said we had to be a member and wouldnt let us in! I explained the trouble we had went through and was still going to give them money and they still didnt let us in! I know this wasnt the case but my 11 year old sister felt like they were being raciest because of the way they treated us! That’s pretty sad! And if we were a memeber we still had to pay $10? Memebers shouldnt even pay that much period if not nothing at all! THEY ARE MEMBERS! Do not go here they are not good and they have stupid rules and dont let everybody swim!
