Very clean facility, well maintained, and friendly staff. They just purchased a really nice set of rogue bumper plates which was one of the main things I felt like they were lacking. They have machines for everyone, as well as a wide assortment of upper body weightlifting. The single squat rack, though alone, is a very nice piece of equipment and very adjustable.

The only downfalls is that a bunch of the treadmills do not like to go much faster than about 9 mph, and seem to be a little worn out, and some of the free weight area seems a little cramped, but other than that it is a fantastic gym.

Was looking around town to see what gym to join since I am new to the area. Loved the time spent exercising there. However, my partner and I moved and had to transfer gyms. We tried canceling over the phone and online and were told we had to go in person to cancel memberships. After going in person to cancel, they refused to let us terminate that day—forcing another month’s charge to our account. While that was already shady, they charged my partner’s account an additional $40 for “annual fees” though he was ending his account in February, and we had been trying to close our accounts for months. We called to dispute the charge with the Blankenbaker gym and the manager refused to lift the charge or explain why my partner was expected to pay annual fees when he had been trying to cancel the membership for months. During COVID-19 the gym closed its doors but expected patrons to continue to pay gym membership fees. For a small business, I expect better quality service and not to be scammed out of money multiple times in one year.

They were great to use as a gym.
My problem is that when leaving them they force you to wait a full month and don’t allow for an easy cancellation. If you move and try to cancel, you have to do certified mail or drive back for an in-person cancellation. For some people, those options aren’t always immediately available.
Especially frustrating when the extra month they tack-on adds the annual fee they charge.

Very pushy. Won't stop texting/harassing me to join their gym. Not sure where they even got my phone number from. I would not recommend giving them any personal info because they will likely start spamming you too...

I've been going here for several months now. It's a small gym. This usually isn't an issue except for when I want to use the power rack. There's only 1, so I just have to pray that it's empty by the time I get to it. People are generally good about re-racking their weights and putting away equipment.

The only real problem I have is with the enforcement of masks. Every time I workout there are a handful of people who do not wear their masks at the appropriate times (when near other gymgoers and/or walking across gym) or not bringing one at all. I have never seen an employee enforce the policy with any of these people. Don't have a rule that you are unwilling to enforce.

In town for work and decided to visit this gym while I was here. For the most part is a good small gym but it has plenty of equipment. Some of the equipment could use some attention. The cable machine pin, for example, is missing the grip so it falls straight through the hole which could be an injury waiting to happen. People behind the desk are very helpful and nice. Would definitely visit this gym again if I'm ever in the area again.

Pretty unprofessional establishment. First, I tried calling to cancel my membership, but was told I needed to do this in-person... Ok, fair enough I guess.

Tried driving out to cancel my membership twice because I moved away from that area. One time, they wouldn't let me do it because the manager wasn't there. The next time was a Saturday, and they "can't cancel memberships on a Saturday" (????????). Maybe I'm missing something here...

Once I was finally able to catch the manager AND make it out on a weeknight (my THIRD time driving out there, mind you), the manager was pretty abrasive with me, and questioned me extensively on why I was canceling.

Hard to work with and pretty unforgiving as far as trying to end your contract.

All-in-all, very "money-grabby", but I guess it's kind of understandable because they are a business after all.

I'm giving 2-stars because the facility was very nice, but attempting to deal with staff was sort of a nightmare.

I'm not saying don't go to this gym, but be careful as far as canceling as they will give you the run-around for as long as possible.

Great place tons of machines and free weights. I spoke to Erin on the phone a few days before coming in and somehow she remembered talking to me and was able to recall our entire conversation. Pretty unexpected of her to do that especially with how many people they must talk to on a daily basis. That just shows they truly care for their members and listen to what questions they have. Bought a membership for my mother and I as a mother's day gift. Soon after found out that my mother would not be able to attend the gym due to extenuating circumstances (she tore a ligament in May and is having surgery). I called and spoke with management, explained the situation and told them I would need to cancel our memberships (as this location is too far from home for me to travel on a regular basis and was chosen for its proximity to my mother's home) My card continued to be charged.

I was told to come in to cancel in writing. I explained that due to my work/travel for work and school schedule I would be unable to do so before being charged again, (and subsequently, *again I found out -- when I returned and came in to cancel in writing). I was dealt with very tersely by a manager while doing so.

I understand the concept of a written contract. I've signed quite a few. However, I have never encountered so much resistance to the cancellation of a membership/service before. I felt much more like a membership $ - than a member. Upsale and concern for retention is understandable, it is a business after all, but blatantly ignoring the needs of your customers makes for bad business.

I was in town and stopped by here on a Saturday morning to get a workout in. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My daughter was with me and she had a great time in the kids room. In all the gym's I've been too, this place had the nicest kids facilities I've seen.

The gym had a great vibe...good mix of free weights and cardio equipment. Some gyms I go to feel like I'm working out in a bunker but this place had a nice open feel with lots of windows. I love Hammer Strength equipment and they had a bunch of it. They seem to have a good sense of humor as well with some of their postings around the gym. I would highly recommend Fitness 19 to anyone living in Louisville.

The fitness center I used to go to closed recently and a friend recommended that I check out Fitness 19 on Blankenbaker. It only takes me about 5 minutes to get there and there is lots of parking. The staff are great! Very friendly and helpful. The facility is well equipped with a full range of cardio equipment (ellipticals, bikes, and stair steppers), weight machines, and free weights. The atmosphere is very positive. No creeps like I have seen at some other gyms. Patrons range from kids to old folks and everyone in between. I took advantage of the 1 week free trial and decided to join up. I was lucky because their "Black Friday" special was in effect when I joined and I wound up paying less that I was at the old place. I'm very happy with Fitness 19 and recommend it highly.

I am currently on a business trip working in Louisville, Kentucky. Hawthorn Suites, which is the hotel I am staying at provides this gym for free with my hotel stay. When I arrived at fitness 19 I was immediately greeted by the staff and had no problem signing in. The attendant was very kind and had a great friendly attitude. The gym was clean and organized and I loved that the gym was not too crowded. Definitely a gym to try out. Thanks fitness 19!

The gym I have belong to for about a year now is Fitness 19 and they are the best. I have have had many different gym memberships but Fitness 19 has been the cream of the crop. DO NOT REGISTER HERE. This gym expects you to overpay and will actively lie to you to keep you overpaying.

I paid membership dues to this gym at $20/month for two years. My sister discovered, upon visiting a Fitness 19 in Lexington, that I could pay $10/month. According to the contract, paying dues at any Fitness 19 entitles you to work out at every Fitness 19. So, we promptly cancelled our memberships at this gym and transferred to Lexington.

The management of this gym left a voice message on my sister's phone telling us we could not do that. They claimed they had spoken to the Lexington gym. And that the membership would not transfer. We called the Lexington gym. The Lexington gym had NEVER SPOKEN to ANYONE at this Fitness 19.

My sister called this location back and told them that we knew they were lying. Far from apologizing, the manager then blustered that there were special classes offered at this gym, which entitled them to make their own special policies outside of the contract. Without prior notice.

We then immediately called the other Fitness 19 in Louisville (in Prospect). They told us we were of course welcome to work out there. While we were STILL ON THE PHONE with the co-owner of that gym, this location left us another voicemail saying they had spoken to the Prospect gym! And that the Prospect Fitness 19 had agreed with this location.

Because if the first lie doesn't work, you should definitely keep lying.

The moral of this story: Do not pay this gym. If you live in Louisville, go to another branch to register for Fitness 19. You'll pay less! They won't lie to you. And you can still use this gym.

I love running and working out so Fitness 19 is my favorite place to be!!! I've been a member of a lot of other gyms around the city and Fitness 19 has them beat!!!. The owners know everyone by name, the equipment is top of the line, and the super friendly staff is always helpful and keep the gym spotless!!! They just recently redid the whole place and added all kinds of group classes which look like a blast. I've been going here for the last 5 years and I couldn't imagine going anywhere else!!!!!!!

There is a planet fitness literally right next to my house, but I walked in and everyone was eating pizza while working out. Fitness 19 was a little further but well worth it to have real exercise equipment that wasn't purple and covered with pizza sauce.

I have been with Fitness 19 since they opened (7 years). While over my 18+ years of working out in various facilities...I have never felt more at home than here at Fitness 19. They are like family. I have grown to know and become friends with many people who have the same interest and passion for fitness. This is the only gym I would call...my home away from home.
