This gym wrongfully charged me despite giving proper cancellation notice. Full story:
Facility itself is great. Small size, good classes offered. Had a great experience up until I had to change gyms due to moving
I contacted co-owner Dustin to cancel my membership (was on month-to-month), and got no response until weeks later (said he'd been dealing with personal matters. Totally understandable -so far), when he told me that I was good to go, but would be charged for the next month because they require 30 days notice to cancel
I gently pointed out that it was infact more than 30 days before the next month renewed so I don't believe I should be charged (requested on Aug 22, next bill was Sept 22. 31 days)
No response.
A few days later I texted again, confirming I wouldn't be charged
No response.
I ended up getting charged and texted him to request it be refunded
No response.
Followed up a couple weeks later basically saying "Hello?"
No response.
Completely unprofessional and straight up took my money

Great little gym! Has everything you'd need. Love the ambiance of the old boiler room and high ceilings. Cool area too. Wish I could continue my membership but moved too far away.

Great small gym. I'm in town to visit family and they've been kind.
It's never crowded. Non-invasive. And just a nice quiet atmosphere to get your workout in and go. Just perfect.

I have gone to Flex Appeal for over a year now. The gym has all the equipment you need to get a great workout ie multiple dumbbell sets, squat racks, smith machine, kettle bells, and multiple cardio machines. There’s even a really nice area to stretch and the bathrooms have showers! People who go there are kind, courteous, thoughtful and all different ages. Dustin the owner is always responsive and helpful. Have never had any issues. Would highly recommend.

l have been working with Dustin at Flex Appeal for about two months now and have had a great experience.
After about three years of no exercise at all, I was looking for a gym + trainer where I felt comfortable, supported, and encouraged to work at my own pace, and I have found that here.
If you are looking for an easy-going atmosphere that doesn’t feel intimidating or judgmental, this is a great place to get started, especially if you want to work with a personal trainer.

Hey I'm Kevin.. oddly enough the only actual name besides Dustin mentioned in this review by LC.. below this one. I am also a black trainer amongst all the "pretentious" white males but the only individual named for what reason I have no clue because what is being construed as being weird has simply been me minding my own business and focusing on my workouts and my clients sessions and the fact that I have to explain that should speak volumes. I've been at flex appeal for TWO YEARS and have been coming in at the same time to work out for TWO YEARS going on THREE before LC started coming and prepare for my client schedule which has been at 4am, again this has been for TWO YEARS going on THREE years I've came in at this time. What's weird is when my client has been coming there for TWO, THREE YEARS had noticed you in the bathroom for over an hour and expressed concern there was a complaint made about her just being worried and wanting to know if you were ok. What's really weird is when you're doing nothing but minding your own business and working out but hearing through reviews that you're weird and being creepy when nothing more than a hello was exchanged other than the one time my client expressed concern for if you were ok. And if YOU need assistance on not knowing what to do workout wise or not understanding how to use the equipment I'm a personal trainer I can assist with that. Flex appeal is a great gym and facility and all the people that work there, as well as most gym members are more than willing to help with anything.

Horrible.. don’t let looks deceive you.. I was there maybe 3 times a week.. I have to work out late night because of my work schedule.. horrible gym.. horrible.. all of the other patrons are rude uppity pretentious pinky in the air wannabe hipsters.. I work in law.. the kingdom of such things.. and they’re worse.. I don’t know what it is about their male patrons.. but they’re all creepy and weird and give you hateful weird looks.. the guy that runs the gym.. Dustin.. he’s a real piece of work.. I tried to talk to him about a very insane traumatizing experience that happens to me.. crickets.. not a word.. he couldn’t even be bothered to enter the code for the gym I wanted.. after two months.. this is after asking him twice.. and then I just gave up because he’s a self centered jerk.. then one of his trainers, Kevin, started acting weird.. this is literally right after I tell Dustin that I went through something really messed up..
This behavior came out of nowhere all of the sudden.. because I have never seen him there late at night., ever.. I’m telling you.. it’s toxic white male hipster culture.. even for Kevin.. run.. especially if you’re a female.. by the way. The gym sucks.. they really don’t have much equipment.. you have to make a work out work for you.. you’re overpaying for nothing.. stop letting exposed brick walls gloss your eyes over the reality.. you can smell the pbr/microbrew flannel bearded irony a mile away..

Flex Appeal is a great gym. Plenty of equipment and space! I love that it’s open 24/7 and I enjoy the atmosphere and positive community. I would recommend this gym for anyone who isn’t into the box gym atmosphere. Great trainers work out of this space too and are available for support.

Flex Appeal is such a pleasant change from the large commercial gyms I was used to. I have opted to do both personal training and classes and am so happy with both. My trainer makes it super easy for me to incorporate what I've learned into my solo workouts. It's also open 24/7 which is super helpful with my schedule!

Small, local gym that had all the cardio, free weights and space to stretch that I needed. Most of the times I went there was no problem doing whatever I needed to do. And it’s open 24/7 so you can tweak your schedule if there are too many folks around. I wish there were maybe some included yoga classses but overall I’d go to this place over the chain/corporate alternatives ANY day

Not too busy. Good selection of free weights. Plenty of jocks who don't clean their equipment, but every gym has that. Restroom could do with a hands free ledge to open the door from the inside after you wash your hands.
Management is responsive about damaged equipment and can often be seen inspecting the premises and cleaning it regularly.

This gym is great! I started one-on-one sessions with Dustin a couple of months ago and decided to include the unlimited bootcamp option. Both the sessions and the bootcamps have been wonderful - I'm seeing results and I feel healthier and stronger. Each instructor has their own style and all of them do a great job at changing up the routines for a full body workout. Highly recommend!

i've been working out with dustin in twice weekly one-on-one sessions since september and can definitely see and feel an improvement in my fitness and overall health. his style is very accomodating of different fitness levels--i'm a plus size woman who showed up to flex appeal very out of shape and never felt embarrassed or disappointed with my abilities. a great balance of backing off when something feels like too much but pushing me to do more than i thought i could handle. i have recommended dustin to many friends who are now bootcamp regulars.

This gym is awesome. I love having a 24/7 gym, but what I love the most are the group classes. It's a small space with a LOT of equipment. The instructors all have different techniques so you aren't working the same muscles, there are shower rooms available for when work beckons, and the owner goes above and beyond to help his clients. Highly recommend.

Still not proof of sending emails to me. The owner is a compulsive liar and has to have his employees and himself leave reviews on Google to hide all customers true reviews.
I cancelled my membership and asked about a refund when they were closed for covid. The owner lied and said they sent an email which I did not receive, when confronted he choose to leave my message on read and not

Flex Appeal has a fun uplifting atmosphere with lots of different services offered! I tried out the classes and 24hr gym access service while I was traveling and if I ever travel back to Louisville I may contract one of the personal trainers or the physical therapist. They have classes like boot camp, yoga, and the fancy bungee workout class all included on the price of their classes/gym package - definitely worth the price. You should absolutely give it a try to see if Flex Appeal is the right fit for you!

I started working with Dustin, the owner, when I had a stress fracture and was in a boot. I’ve always been a runner and needed help figuring out how to workout other ways. Well, then I rolled into marathon training when I was healed and stuck with Dustin. As an Ironman and marathoner, he was able to guide me through a lot of strength and other details that weren’t just the mileage. In the process I lost about 10 pounds I had been holding on to thanks to his diligence!
Dustin has worked with me through pregnancy and a pandemic, always making sure I felt comfortable and going the extra mile to make me feel safe. This is the place to go if you want a safe, friendly place where they know you by name!

I’ve been a member at Flex Appeal since 2019 and it’s been one of best gyms I’ve ever been a part of. It’s convenient with multiple locations, not too small, not too big, quality equipment, and 24hr access is always a plus. The owner (Dustin)is almost always accessible to communicate with, and during the pandemic he went above and beyond to make me feel like a valued customer by being flexible/considerate with payment issues when things were tight (no late fees!), loaning out equipment to take home free of charge, and always asking about ways to improve the gym for his customers. If anyone is looking for a quality gym, with good rates, abundant options, and a personable staff this is it.

I have worked with Dustin for over10 years. I have participated in group classes and personal training with him. I am always impressed by his ability and his caring for each person in the group. I was not at all physically fit when I started working with Dustin and mid-forties in age. He worked with me and pushed me to do much more than I thought I was capable of doing. I trained with him to do the triple crown for several years and then we trained to do the rock n roll marathon in St. Louis. There was a group of 5 of us that trained together. Had a wonderful time and all finished the marathon. Every week my workout is challenging and according to my watch - I burn at least 400 calories and my heart rate is in the correct zone.
I also enjoy all the other trainers at Flex Appeal as well. Each trainer is challenging and enjoyable. Have worked with Brandi and she is great. She provides a well thought out class - afterwards you know you have worked out - all in a good way! I would recommend trying Flex Appeal in Germantown. You will be made to feel special - not just a person in the crowd.

I signed up for personal training with co-owner/trainer, Dustin. The gym's website says he has a NSCA-CPT (one of the most respected fitness certifications), but after working out with him a couple of times it became super obvious to me that he has no idea what he is doing....enough to make me skeptical as to whether he actually has a CPT certification.
I emailed NSCA to check his certification status, and they replied that he has never been certified through them. I confronted him about it, and he claimed he "got the website set up the week he was taking his test for the NSCA, and then he had to skip the test because his baby was born." He said he was emailing his web guy to get it taken down.
I demanded he refund my money, since he is not actually a certified personal trainer, and he complied.
Note: This was a couple of weeks ago, and the website still shows him certified through NSCA.
It is negligent and irresponsible for this man to be offering personal training services without a certification. He knows about as much about fitness training as I know about rocket science (not much). Someone is going to get seriously injured.
