This place is awesome! They have done a great job of making modern upgrades without sacrificing the nostalgia of the oldest gym in Lexington. I also really enjoy the environment here, from the team to the people that work out here. It's cool seeing all people of different demographics from college kids to professional body builders, to seniors. Also, if you haven't tried there PEMF Recovery Therapy I highly recommend it, it is a game changer. They have a variety of equipment for all muscle groups & there are machines which I have never seen which is awesome :) Last, it seems like everyone here is super fit which is creates super encouraging environment to be in, it motivates me to hit my health goals.

When I signed up they told me it was for a nine month commitment plan. Come to find out 5 months after the 9 nine months ended that they were still charging me! So I went in to asked about it, and they said they could only refund me two of the 5 payments. when I asked why they said I was signed up for a 12 month commitment plan (keep in mind I go home over the summer as I am in college so I was not even in town and would have no reason to do a 12 month plan). They said there was nothing they could do even after admitting they were in the wrong and messed up on my plan! All I got out of it was the two months that were considered after my "12 month plan" and a sorry. 🤦‍♂️

I've been a member for 10+ years. The recent ownership change and subsequent upgrades have elevated a gym that was already very good. Ford's culture remains old school - hard working, but welcoming. There's also a mix of old school iron and newer equipment. It won't ever be filled with 'influencers' and tripods, which is such a welcome change these days. Great overall atmosphere for those seeking self improvement.

Since the new owner took over, it's been constant improvements, starting with no more ceiling leaks, all new paint and carpet, every single thing thoroughly cleaned and organized. If you were an old member of Ford's, you won't believe your eyes. All fresh pads and new equipment is being added -- stuff you've probably never seen before that allows for safer and more focused lifts. Everything is put up in a proper place. Crap isn't scattered around and racks are labeled so you know exactly where to put loose weights. And for the first time in years, staff is actually nice, saying hello and bye, being helpful if you need help, keeping order when necessary. Even a new first rate stereo. New cardio equipment, multiple stair machines, an aerobic torture device called "Jacob's Ladder," and everything works. Bathrooms and showers are scrubbed out and clean. It's the best gym I've ever been in and I've been in gyms in many cities across the US. If you're serious about weights and getting stronger, this is the place to be.

Last thing. There are all types -- first time in a gym to professional, young, old, in shape, out of shape, men, women, super strong, not strong, stylish to simple -- but the great thing is that no one bothers or judges. In the years I've been here, Dark Times to now, the great atmosphere is a constant.

An excellent gym that everyone should try at least once! It has the old school 80's gym feel to it with plenty of equipment. I didn't have to wait for any equipment at all. The staff is very friendly too. It's honestly the first time that I've ever felt good about the hospitality at any gym.

I’m both not one to leave a review and fairly picky about gyms, but I can confidently say Ford’s is the best gym I’ve ever been to. It’s spacious, super clean, and well put together. Has everything you could ask for equipment wise. The new owner, Ryan, crushed the renovations — it feels fresh and upgraded while still paying homage to the gym’s legacy.

The staff is awesome and there’s a clear culture of keeping things in order. Weights are always re-racked, and everything is where it should be, which I really appreciate.

They’ve got a great outdoor area and some machines I haven’t seen at any other gym that have become staples in my routine. Pricing is very reasonable too, especially for what you’re getting compared to other gyms in the area.

Ford’s nails everything I look for in a gym, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Ford's Fitness is an absolute gem in Lexington. Nowhere else will you find an old-style bodybuilding gym with an atmosphere similar to this one. From the unique group class options to the 150lb DBs, this place doesn't disappoint. I got a chance to have a one-on-one conversation with the current owner, Ryan. He's a down-to-earth, members-first type of person, something extremely rare in popular gyms today. Very easy to see why this place is as successful as it is, I can't recommend this place enough!

Love this old school gym. Ton of equipment. Classic pieces. Great workout feel! Will be the place we train when we come to Lex for all of the UK gymnastic meets to watch our daughter compete.

Now hear me out, this isn’t a negative review at all about the place. Environment, workers, atmosphere, all around a great gym. just something you don’t see much. That being said, when i walked in, the owner didn’t take the time to get to know me or even ask my name. instead, he immediately started listing off rules, without an introduction or a welcome. it felt uninviting, and honestly, it didn’t give me a good first impression. My passion is making cinematic gym content. I love the gym and i take it very seriously. This is the best gym around here for the content i make. but he doesn’t allow tripods. Reckon i film on an actual camera. he allows gym bags on the floor, he allows content creation with phones placed on equipment, but doesn’t allow tripods. got my gym membership terminated today over a tripod and he would’ve had a life time customer out of me and many people i know if he allowed a $30 tripod so i can pursue what i love to do. Overall great gym, would recommend anyone who doesn’t film to go here, the owner has done a great job with making the gym the way it is now. just sucks i couldn’t get a refund or a notice before i paid for the membership and wasted money as a college student. i wish nothing but the best for him and everyone else who’s apart of fords fitness.

Traveling across the US, I try to find gyms I can drop into. I had a great experience at Glenn Ford’s Fitness Center in Lexington. The gym has a classic, old-school vibe, reminiscent of the kind you see back in the heyday years of powerlifting. . You might look around and imagine seeing a young Arnold Schwarzenegger or Franco Columbu training there.
The equipment is older but well-maintained and full of character, adding to its unique charm. The variety of equipment, from barbells and dumbbells to machines, made for a great workout. The staff was extremely friendly, and the clean restrooms and showers were a big plus. They also offer supplements and merch, which is super convenient. As a traveler, I appreciated finding such a welcoming and well-equipped gym. They also offer a one-day drop-in for $15 plus tax, which was really convenient. While I was there the Texas A&M basketball staff and a few players did a drop in m, which speaks to its appeal for athletes on the road. If I lived here, this would definitely be my gym of choice!

Amazing gym, there is nothing else like it in Lexington. It's a real deal modern bodybuilding gym. The new owner, Ryan, is super personable and has done an incredible job transforming it. I've been stopping in here since 2016 and seeing it now was a memorable experience. Tons of equipment, friendly staff and cool amenities.

This gym was super outdated and falling apart when I joined, then the new owner stepped in and completely renovated and transformed it into the best gym I’ve ever been a part of. The fees are really reasonable. The staff remembers your name. The culture is great and a lot of the members compete in body building. The most attractive part of the gym is all the historic equipment from the 90s and 80s mixed in with modern equipment. You’ll find a lot of specialized machines there that no other gyms tend to have.

Highly recommend! We travel full time and bought a 1 week pass while in town. Everyone at the gym was super friendly and welcoming and you will have all the equipment you could possibly need. Not overly crowded either which is really nice. Got some great workouts in! We will be back here if we pass back through for sure.

Love the old school feel, the old school equipment, tons of equipment... Large space. And honestly I don't go to the gym to look at thirst traps which most of these gyms are these days. You want a REAL workout and take your fitness seriously then this is the gym for you.

Was in Lexington for work and found this gem of a gym via google. If you like old school cool straight out of Pumping Iron this is your place. Very nice sized gym, lots of great equipment, some really nice vintage chain drive Nautilus machines, and all the right stuff for a great workout. Very reasonable $10 day pass. The staff were super nice and welcoming, it was never crowded, and everything was in good working order.
I came here two days and got two great workouts in. This one I am saving for future stops in Lexington. 5 Stars!!!!

LOVE THIS GYM!!! Bill (owner) and Mark are the kindest people. There’s tons of space, and plenty of machines to choose from. My favorite part is that there’s barely anyone there so the machine you want will likely be available almost anytime of day. They even have a basketball court!
