I highly recommend Freestyle Fitness. Whether you are looking to get back in shape, get that revenge bod, build confidence, spice up things in the bedroom, want to enter the industry, or learn something new- THIS IS THE PLACE! The coaches will work with you to help you achieve your goals.

I have been to other gyms where I had fun, but at the end of the day I felt like a number. Though I was learning moves, I wasn’t doing them the right way—which I honestly didn’t care about as long as I “got the job done”. Being in my mid 30s, I now understand why doing a move the RIGHT way and listening to your body is super important. I have grown to appreciate how Freestyle values my safety and wellbeing over profit. The coaches have a background in personal training and/or a ton of experience in the industry. I personally prefer to learn from someone with years of personal experience and training, rather than someone that went to a class and got a certification. The coaches are not rookies and are the real OGs!

When I talk about Freestyle Fitness- I often refer to it as my “Freestyle Family”. Know that when you walk through that door- no matter your age, shape, gender, race, religion, or experience level- you are going to be received with acceptance and open arms. This is a safe space. Inside those doors I have laughed, cried, struggled, and excelled. Nonetheless, I have been accepted, supported, and encouraged by both my coaches and classmates through it all. There is no better feeling than your classmates cheering you on after you finally nail that move you have been struggling with. Freestyle offers a rare and uniquely positive environment. I’m sad that my work has led me to move out of state. With that said- HUGE Thank you to my Freestyle family for all of the incredible memories and growth I have made. I owe it all to you. It’s been an absolute honor to learn from the best of the best! Love you all!

Wondering if you should give it a try or not? My vote: DO IT! What do you have to lose? You can wear anything from a parka to a thong and pasties (just no jewelry bc it scratches the pole and genitalia must be covered). Otherwise… hunnyyyyy…..we don’t care! Whatever makes you comfortable! Go in there! Spin around! Shake that A$$! Sending you my positive vibes!! Xo

Freestyle Fitness is a wonderful and welcoming studio/gym!

I have been taking pole, dance, and other group fitness classes at Freestyle Fitness for over 4 years. I cannot speak for the gym, but my review will cover the pole and dance classes.
Compared to 4 years ago, the dance/pole studio has really expanded and grown into a community.

The studio space has 8 poles, 4 of which are removable to create a larger dance floor, and plenty of comfortable space for movement. I never feel concerned that I may kick someone else or the wall during a pole or dance class. There are also plenty of chairs, yoga blocks, exercise bands, and other movement props available for use as needed, with cleaning supplies to sanitize them after use. There are crash mats available for general floorwork, and also round crash mats for the poles!
The studio has 2 gender neutral restrooms with plenty of space to change before class. One nice touch is there are plenty of cleaning supplies for the poles- enough so that everyone gets their own spray bottle and towel each class!

As for the people, the teachers that I have taken classes with are very helpful and kind. Inclusive language is encouraged, and when new students are in class, teachers do introductions so everyone feels comfortable together. Classes are gender neutral and all-inclusive, I have thankfully never been in a class where teachers or students are disrespectful (though I have been in a class where someone was asked to not say/do something, they stopped, and no one got upset).
Teachers ask about existing injuries or accommodations needed before each class, consent is asked before spotting, and reasonable progressions/regressions are offered when moves are not appropriate for students. In classes I have taken, teachers also offer some conditioning that can be performed outside of class to supplement in-class work.

Overall, I really enjoy taking classes at Freestyle Fitness and encourage anyone who wants to try pole, chair dance, or another class to drop by! The studio is a great and safe space, and the teachers are friendly and welcoming.

I loved this place! Everyone is so nice and it's so body positive no matter your size, and I'm not a small person! I did the Yoga, pole, chair and twerk class.

Yoga was very beginner friendly! She would tell you switch part of the body your supposed to be feeling the pose in and how to correct it if your not.

Pole, chair, and twerk are also very very beginner friendly!

Overall, I loved going here and can't wait to go back!

My sister and I have been attending pole class twice a week for almost a year. We love it and look forward to our classes. As we have progressed the moves have become more challenging. TJ explains and demonstrates the moves of course, but she watches as you attempt it and then explains individually how you can perfect it. There have been several times I felt I understood before I attempt it, but then it still isn’t just quite right. TJ will say “try to think of it like this” and suddenly it will click with me. She is an excellent instructor. We absolutely love it!

Training at Freestyle Fitness has been an amazing experience. Beyond learning new tricks and dance moves, the supportive and encouraging environment the instructors have created gives students of all levels the confidence to express themselves through movement. Whether you're an experienced dancer or just beginning your journey, the instructors meet you where you are and provide fun yet challenging opportunities to stretch and grow.

Freestyle Fitness has become my safe haven. Instructors go out of their way to ensure safety and confidence. I had not felt so comfortable in a gym before as a plus-size dancer. Every instructor here has pulled me out of my own head and showed me I can do the hard stuff. There’s a beautiful breakdown of the progression to different poses and tricks, you see the “goal” and then the steps to get there! There’s so many different reasons why I’m proud to call Freestyle Fitness my home, but the family environment that TJ and all the others have just naturally created ❤️ (some photos of moments I’ve been proud of myself)

This is the place you want to come to to not only learn pole but to also learn proper technique. TJ & Rikki are two of the best instructors around Louisville, I’ve been training with them on pole classes for years & every class has me learning something new & a way to perfect the art of pole. They are very driven to make sure you don’t just learn a trick or form but most importantly to do it safely & in a way that no long term injuries occur if you follow instructions. This is the place to be!

I've been attending pole classes roughly once every 1-2 weeks for the past year. Challenging, empowering & often a lesson in perseverance - in the best ways!
TJ takes a lot of care with instruction & deeply values safety/fundamentals. And can sense when you might need a little cheerleading. I've loved learning from TJ!

Been taking pole classes at Freestyle Fitness for almost 3 years now and I have absolutely enjoyed the experience! The classes offer a lot of technical training and safety in mind as well as time for play once you’ve got some moves under your belt. TJ is a wonderful instructor, and person, who takes time to listen if you have difficulty with a particular spin or move and show modifications. I absolutely recommend Freestyle Fitness for pole dance classes and also as a small gym if you want a less crowded place for working out!

I have been going to Freestyle for 2 years now for personal training and TJ is a fantastic trainer that truly care about your well being and helping you on your fitness journey, to help you reach your desired goals.
when you are im class, they give you 100% of of their time and attention, unlike some places where personal training is more a class than one on one.
the gym is very much a safe place where everyone is treated with respect and grace and I am forever grateful and looking forward to the next 2 years

It was a cool class. Slow placed and the instructor taught correct body posture etc but not the fun relaxed experience my friends and I were looking for. Would do if you’re seriously wanting to learn the pole but if you’re looking for an easy going fun experience this isn’t it.

I've been training with TJ for a minute now and I am so greatful for their help in pushing me to do and be better. If you're looking for a place to work out in a judgement free space this is it. If you are looking for a coach who will keep you accountable and encourage you to reach your goals TJ is amazing! If you want to try some fun, sexy classes I have loved every single one I have done. The other gym goers and students are also always so kind, considerate and encouraging.

My friend and I went yesterday. I've done pole dancing competitively in the past (years ago). That being said, the instructor taught basic things in detail. It was a boring class for me, but that's because it was a very safe and controlled environment for beginners. However, if you're looking for technicality, this is your gym. If you're looking to jump back on the pole, you'll find yourself being reeled back to slow down and keep feet on the ground until you can show you've acquired the moves with proper body mechanics.

My friend and i were traveling through Louisville. We decided to take a pole dancing class here and it was so fun! TJ was so good at explaining the moves! I was injured and she was very understanding and gave me different options to work through all the moves while still getting the most out of the class. HIGHLY recommend taking pole dancing classes here!!

I have been training here for over two years, and I’m 100% delighted with every aspect of the place. TJ is a skilled and compassionate coach and trainer, who actively pays attention to their clients’ goals and limitations.

TJ deserves the utmost respect for their professionalism, empathy and sense of humor. On a personal level, I credit TJ with helping to save my life; I have tried other gym and fitness facilities, and never developed a sense of connection to the place or to a trainer.

TJ helped me change how I view fitness and exercise, and how I view myself. I’m healthier now than I have ever been, and Freestyle Fitness was the decisive factor.

Thanks, TJ!

I have been attending classes at Freestyle Fitness for quite a while now, and what started off as a one-time adventure of taking a pole class turned into an entire lifestyle change and a loss of 40 lbs! I now thoroughly enjoy dancing, pole, weight training, and power lifting, things I would have NEVER in a million years thought I would come to love. The trainers and instructors are helpful, patient, and meet you where you are. I truly believe that what makes this place so great and different from other fitness studios is that the staff teach how to love the body you *have*, and won't let you feel shame or inadequate in your size or skillset, which allows you to be comfortable to improve. Whether you are brand new to moving your body or an experienced athlete, Freestyle has always made me feel at home.

TL;DR: my 30 day notice was lost in the mail (or perhaps never acknowledged though I hope this isn’t the case but after the following is explained, who knows?)

I mailed in my 30 day notice a few days before the beginning of October since I am moving at the end of Oct. and never heard back as far as a confirmation that my notice had been received so I messaged on the 1st of October asking about the best way to cancel (which was to mail the notice- as I did). Ten days pass. Nothing. So I message again, this time asking if there’s some sort of confirmation or if I should bring it in directly and I was told that the mail would be checked and that I would be notified then was asked to mail it.
14 days later, and no notifying. I message TJ again and the communication was very dry. I reread the contract and you actually can personally deliver your notice. So that’s what I did. I messaged once more asking for visual confirmation that my membership be cancelled so I’m not further billed, and my question was dodged. I explained that I didn’t think this was fair because I upheld what I was supposed to do on my end as per the contract and having mail lost (I presume due to the lingering effects of the pandemic) is such an abnormal situation (which isn’t addressed in the contract) that I don’t feel I should be at fault for something entirely out of my control. This explanation was read but otherwise not acknowledged. Is it that difficult to terminate a membership or is $116.55 really more worthwhile than business integrity? Truly disappointing.

So this was my very first ever experience in a gym, dance class with instructor. Always the type to just do my workouts at home while casting on the tv. I am so so happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and did a group flirty party with close friends. Never once felt uncomfortable or anything. With breaking down the dance moves and muscle movements made it a lot easier to understand. Truly grateful for TJ Lady Phoenix ! Had a great time. 10/10 experience and plan on returning !!!!

Perhaps it was due to the first time I showed up you were rude and very disrespectful to the guest I had brought because we didn’t know she needed to register. I had a family emergency and I had expressed that when I called to cancel my classes during the time I stated I also had a surprise trip to Gatlinburg planned. You tried to take more money from my account without acknowledging me. Once you became belligerent via text on my personal phone, I signed up for every class I could until the last day of my paid membership, it was then you stated you weren’t going to allow me to attend any classes during the remainder of my paid membership, because of an “outstanding balance” for missed classes (again that I didn’t miss because I called and/or withdrew online) no where in your so called policy does it say you’ll refuse services, especially services already paid for. I’m glad I requested a new debit card before you could get anymore of my money.

My review is based off of a private group intro to pole class, I do not attend this gym regularly. I am also going to keep descriptions of the contents of the class to a minimum.

The gym was clean and the instructor was strict in enforcing COVID guidelines. The music selection was really nice and was able to help us break out of our shell. We did ultimately have a good time.

I considered that it is still COVID, considered that our party was tardy, considered that I wasn’t present when the class was booked, and wanted to avoid comparing my experience with the class to other classes I have taken prior to writing this review.

1)To begin, the policy on recording and photos was extremely unclear. Before beginning the class, we received a “brief” containing rules for the class/studio. Recording and photography was not mentioned at all during that time. During the class we weren’t sure if we were allowed to take photos and videos and the instructor told us we could, even gave us a way to mount our phones. At some point in the class she was demonstrating a move and got upset at one of us for recording her. That was never made clear prior to that moment and the manner of correction was less than tactful or professional. Following that, we weren’t sure if we were still allowed to record or take photos. I think that could have been added to the initial speech at the beginning of class. I even looked over the waiver to see if it was mentioned in that. This was really the bulk of my negative review and points as it made us feel tense following the incident.

2) There are 3 mounted poles and 1 unmounted pole that the instructor demonstrates on but allowed us to use. The group of us consisted of 8 people. It was a bit odd I think, having a group of that size with only 3 mounted poles. With her not having her own pole to return to when she “released us” to try the moves out, it was hard to get some of the moves down.

3) I’ve considered this to be chalked up to the fact that it was COVID, but it was not a hands on class. I think for the amount of time spent on talking about safety, there was rarely any corrections done. It was hard to get questions answered on whether or not we were doing something right or not. There were a few unanswered attempts to get her attention and then we just asked each other. The answers we did get were sometimes not clear.

4) I was disappointed with what we ultimately got showed. I can’t help but think if we came early and used the entire 1.5 hours, I would’ve still been disappointed. I chalk it back up to it being COVID, and the moves being selected so that the class can be more hands off. If that’s the case, I would’ve preferred to know that when booking so we could have booked a different type of class. Again, I don’t want to compare this to other intro to pole classes I took (both pre COVID and during) but it’s hard not to. My assumption is that this class was to be taught as the other pole classes are taught, I would’ve been very disappointed to pay money for what little we went over.
