Lots of potential, but not quite there yet! This old LA Fitness, then Esporta, and now Genesis location could be a really nice gym one day. Right now, it has a lot of outdated cardio equipment, lots of repeat, not well thought out strength training machines, and mixed and unmatched free weights. Genesis bought out Esporta a couple of months ago and they say they are in the process of updating the gym. They are at least making sure Sauna and Steam room are at the right temperatures but they are in dire need of remodeling. Walls in Sauna are half rotted and Steam room floor is a slip hazard. The building itself could be the nicest gym in the area, but it is not there yet. Update: They have updated a lot of cardio equipment, new free weights and several new squat racks.

I just called to see if they would honor a free 3 day trial that I had with esporta the young lady said no. I went to the website and they have their own free trial she never even mentioned. I called back to inquire and she said yes they have one🤦🏾‍♀️ That's is not a good sign right from the start. Apparently the customer service is lacking over the phone. I wouldn't dare go there i can only imagine what the facility looks like and how is maintained from that interaction😳. Yikes

Been a member for a year, it's been purchased and rebranded but the equipment is still in pretty bad shape. The bar bells have lost their labels and they don't seem to have a complete set. The rubber pads have come off of a lot of the equipment so it leaves ugly bruises when going for max weight (horrible bruises on shoulders when doing the calf press) or on arms for roman chair. The free weight labels are falling off/missing, they don't have a weight machine for the lower back muscles. The punching bag has hole in it and squirts water when punched. Thermometer in sauna is broken. Front door only opens to 80 degrees, so if you are in a hurry it's a guaranteed faceplant into a door. The movie room needs a new bulb or something, can barely see the movie, and staff doesn't have a reliable method to know when movie needs to be restarted. The basketball gym is right next to the men's sauna and steam room making it impossible to get peaceful relaxation during a shvitz. They just installed 5 new pieces of equipment for doing squats, but didn't purchase should pads/bar-pads. Soooooo, not a great gym at the moment, but plenty of potential to improve.

Planet fitness has massage chair and hydrospa, which would be easy upgrades for Genesis to obtain. Something I miss from that gym.

They do have work out classes, a pool and a racket ball court.

The manager, Levi, is super nice and they have started doing some updates! New squat racks, cardio equipment, and dumbbells. There’s also a new area with turf upstairs which was super nice for stretching, but they also have punching bags and a tire to flip. Also, there is a second workout room in the women’s locker room that is pretty stacked.

This gym is awesome. I've been a member here since it was LA Fitness, then Esporta and now Genesis. They have replaced a lot of the older equipment with brand new equipment, and all brand new free weights. The updates are really sweet. The staff are friendly. The members are generally more serious and focused on working out, not as much a social club for teenagers. Best gym in town

Genesis on Taylorsville Road is an awesome place to work out, make friends, and feel good about yourself and other people around you. They have an excellent swimming facility here, and the staff is super friendly. I love it!

This place has so much potential. The staff are always kind and helpful. They listen but can only do so much. I have been with this gym since it was urban active, la fitness, esporta, and now Genesis. The main equipment has never changed. I have had to tell staff multiple times when cardio equipment is not running for them to put in a service to fix, it gets fixed but usually breaks down shortly after. Cardio equipment and stair-masters are constantly broken down and runs bad. It’s sad this is one of the biggest gym facilities in the state of KY and it’s being kept up in this manner. We sometimes go to crunch to avoid the cardio equipment which is unfortunate. Also, new machines for glutes would be nice.

Coach Grace at Genesis Health Club has been such a great coach for me. She knows exactly how far to push me so I’m challenged but not overdoing it, and she even keeps me motivated outside the gym. I love that she checks in and tailors my workouts around my medical history which makes me feel cared for and understood. I’ve gotten stronger, healthier, and more confident since working with her. Also a big thanks to Dan the manager who was kind and professional when showing me the personal training sessions and introducing me to the team.

The movie room has very little air conditioning. For the past 2 years, management has used fans to cool it down in there. It doesn’t do the job. Fix the air conditioning !!

I’ve been a member 3 yrs now and genesis/esporta is the best gym in the city of Louisville the hospitality, and customer service is warm they have top notch equipment and the other members are like family it’s very family oriented and I wouldn’t change gyms for nothing or no one genesis gym is for me and I encourage people to come out and get a positive dose of this establishment the management and staff are warm and welcoming and they make you feel like you’re important keep up the good work genesis fitness

I’ve been working out here since 2016, the place has been poorly run for years. I am hoping that with the new ownership, we can get new equipment, old equipment fixed and an employee maintaining organization on the gym floor. It’s a nice place that was managed by a teenager for years. Leaving this review because Esporta staff has ignored any attempt to fix anything for months.

Things that would make me happy to be here
-set of racquet ball equipment for guests to check out and return
-organize the weights or new ones. all the different brand of plates are slightly different weights
-a lot of dumbbells are trashed
-equipment that has had a sign to be fixed over the last 3 years
-WASH OUT THE STEAM ROOM. Disgusting in there

The place was esporta. They changed to xyz. They do not accept anymore esporta membership. The name on google is esporta the sign is esporta. So it’s a false advertisement! I went inside people was not friendly. Try to skip this place! Not worth it !
