My daughter has been taking karate here for several months. The changes we've seen in her have been AMAZING!
Sensi Botts is beyond awesome with the kiddos! So patient and can get thru to them.
My husband has since started karate here as well, now he and the kiddo are in a belt race!
I'd recommend this Dojo to ANYONE looking to learn self defense or just to get in shape and stay fit. So so so thankful we've found Sensi Botts!!!

My son has been taking karate at Gin Ryu for 3 years now and I am so impressed with what he has learned so far and how much his confidence has improved. I have been amazed watching the instructor (sensei Dwayne Botts) teach his students so much more than just kicks and punches. He teaches them to think and be ready for anything that might happen where they need to defend themselves. I had my teen daughter take lessons just for the self defense aspect. I highly recommend Gin Ryu! Richmond is so fortunate to have this opportunity for learning the art of Shotokan karate from such a distinguished master of martial arts.

I joined Gin Ryu Martial Arts Academy with absolutely no experience. They were very accommodating, friendly and patient with my lack of knowledge. They do a wonderful job of teaching techniques but also explaining how they can be used in real life scenarios. 10/10 would recommend!

Gin Ryu Dojo has become my second home. I love being there, and being a member of the awesome Karate-ka that I share classes with. Shihan Botts and his family are great teachers, great mentors, and the standard by which superlative should be judged by. The second I walked in the doors to see if the dojo was right for me, I automatically felt energized, comfortable, encouraged, and welcomed. The study of Budo is very difficult, but in a place like Gin Ryu it has become a very welcome struggle that I look forward to every time the doors are open. Please come and check us out!

Gin Ryu Karate school is an excellent place to learn martial arts. The silver dragon academy is by FAR the best place in the Richmond area to learn the art of Karate and grow as an individual. With a long history of practicing and competing as a martial artist, Shihan Dwayne Botts is an excellent teacher. I highly recommend attending Gin Ryu if you have any interest in learning self defense and self discipline.

The Gin Ryu (Silver Dragon) Martial Arts Academy, provides quality Shotokan Karate instruction. Shihan Dwayne exemplifies what it means to be a true educator of the martial arts! He cares greatly about his students and their well-being! He insures in his teaching, that his students not only have a wonderful and rewarding training experience, but are provided with a sense of self-confidence and good leadership skills.
