My daughter absolutely loves Kentucky Gymnastics Academy! Her instructor has found the perfect balance—challenging her to grow while also taking the time to build her skills thoughtfully and safely.
One of the most encouraging parts of being here is seeing the older girls train. It gives us a glimpse of what’s possible and helps my daughter dream big. The overall level of instruction is impressive, and the environment feels both ambitious and supportive.
Everyone we’ve met has been friendly and welcoming, which makes a huge difference. My only suggestion would be to improve the bathrooms—they could be more suitable for younger kids in terms of accessibility, but aside from that, we’ve had a wonderful experience here!!!

Four years ago, we started at Kentucky Gymnastics Academy in a fun rec class. Now my daughter is in her first year on team and she couldn't be happier! The atmosphere is exactly where you want your athlete spending their time, growing as gymnasts but also as humans. The coaches are fantastic and truly care about the kids. Shannon runs a great gym that I would recommend to anyone. I can't wait to see where my daughters gymnastics journey goes in the coming years. We love our KGA family!!

KGA has been by far the best gymnastics experience we have had-and we have tried others in Louisville! We love how the owner, Shannon, treats all the kiddos like her own, knows their name and even drives the bus occasionally to pick them up! The optional school pickup is such a blessing for us and allows my kiddo to participate in a class time that she otherwise would miss.
I have seen tremendous improvement in my kiddos skills and her confidence has soared since coming to KGA last year. She loves the varied routines they focus on each week.
We love participating in their showcases, camps and weekend open gyms! I cannot say enough great things about KGA, so thankful to have this incredible team to guide our kiddos!

My son really enjoyed KGA summer camp. We decided to try the Ninja classes and he loves them. He has learned so much about how to do his favorite flips and tricks safely. The coaches are kind and motivating. I am very happy that my son continues to learn and grow with KGA.

Our girls have been going to KGA for several years now and they thoroughly enjoy it. The entire staff is very attentive to the kids and really work to get the most out of the kids. My wife and I could not be more happy with the growth our girls have made. Keep up the great work KGA.

Love the positive atmosphere at KGA! My child has been here since she was 4yo (she’s 13 now), started with rec classes and then went to the competitive team. We cherish the friends she’s made and the great life lessons gymnastics can teach her. So glad we chose KGA all those years ago!

Over the past several years my daughter has had the best experience at Kentucky Gymnastics Academy. Her coaches have given her the confidence to tackle anything in front of her, in and out of the gym. She has made friends for life and are excited to see all of their growth as the years go on!

Affiliating with this gym is probably the biggest mistake I have made in the past year. The recreational classes my daughter participated in were fine; however, once she joined the competition team I immediately noticed a switch in professionalism and availability. Team Coaches seem to be college students now that two “experienced” coaches quit at the beginning of the season. Which I found out from my 8 year old and was then ignored when I emailed regarding the matter. An email was sent out days later with no true explanation on why the coaches left. My daughter was then moved and was attending the wrong class for a week before anyone thought to inform me of the change. Apart from the lack of communication and dismissive attitudes for $300 a month (not including the extra $1500 plus for meet fees and uniforms) I have yet to see any new skills being taught to advance the girls. In every instance where I have questioned this or asked for routines to be tailored to skills the girls can perform I have been ignored. After making the decision to part from the gym, I am now told that my daughter is disqualified from attending meets. The basis being that it is against policy to affiliate with more than one gym after I was very clear that we had not, I just wanted to end my affiliation with KGA. Please take the time to explore other options.

My 8 year old started at kga after a bad experience at our previous gym with the instructors. She has made so much improvement and loves going each week!
My 6 year old just started a couple months ago and loves her class and coaches.. even when she makes mistakes she gets right back up with the biggest smile on her face to keep trying - thankful for the patience of the coaches and their encouragement to keep at it

I signed my granddaughter up for gymnastics, and after conversation with her mom, we needed to hold off. I contacted the facility after noticing that I was charged an additional fee (lifetime fee) also I needed to get a refund. Talked to the owner within 3 hours of the charge, and was told that I would receive my refund by mail in a few days. I called the office to inquire on my refund the office manager "Amy" was very curt in telling me she was not even sure the check has processed, she does not do checks, and that she does not control the mail. I brought her demeanor to her attention, and she began to raise her voice. Telling me that I would have to wait till the owner returns from vacation next week. Also that she has over 600 other families to assist. Myself being in the people business, you are to make the customer feel as if they matter. That type of attitude solidified my decision not to be part of this gymnastics community. I hope to receive my refund sooner rather than later.

We absolutely love KGA! Right when you walk in you see the happy kind smiling face of Amy at front desk welcoming us! Shannon the owner is amazing as well. They make our child feel like part of their family. They genuinely care for her and help her be the best she can be. We love all the coaches there too. Gymnastics has been so amazing for our child. It has helped her with everything in life like listening, strength, working hard, and self confidence. We highly recommend KGA!

My kids are in the ninja-parkour class. This was the third lesson and my kids sat for, no exaggeration, 54 minutes of a 60 minute “lesson”. When I asked why they were sitting so long my child said a lot of time was spent asking questions, and they were earning extra gym bucks (apparently they can turn them in at the end of the term for prizes). Despite there being two instructors, 35 minutes into the “lesson”, they then made all the kids sit while they tested-one by one- how fast kids could complete an obstacle course. More sitting while others had their turn. This took up the next 27 minutes. My kids only got to go 2-3 times each and my son completed each of his in well under 30 seconds. The last 3 minutes was free for all play. Completely unacceptable.

I chose this facility due to the fact that it was presented as an autism friendly establishment. i have been looking for a program that offers gymnastics that is also autism certified. i signed her up for classes months ago, excited about her starting! I got there today and was very disappointed. The classroom instructor Shani Ramirez kind of brushed my child off once realizing she couldn’t follow directions as easily as the other 3 children in her group. And instead of talking to me or her and figuring out a way to ensure she got to participate with the group (because if she took the time to allow my child to kinda warm up to her, she would’ve listened with little to no resistance) she proceeded to take the rest of her class to their designated spot in the gym and move on with class. Leaving my daughter to roam free around the gym. Not once did she really try and interact with her not redirect her. It almost felt like to me that she didn’t want to be bothered with the responsibility of having a child with special needs in her group. I quickly retrieved my daughter from a DIFFERENT staff member who was instructing a separate group of children but had taken the time to bring my daughter to me. I had to take my child out of the gym kicking and screaming because she WANTED to be there. She was EXCITED to be there but unfortunately she was not welcomed with open arms. I am SO disappointed because I picked this gym specifically because it tailored to my daughters needs. I made it clear when registering her for the class that she is a 3 year old NON VERBAL autistic child. surely thought that the staff had some type of training, hence how they had received their autism certification. I was sadly mistaken.

This is a family friendly competitive gym. Unlike some of the other gyms in the area are very aggressive verbally with their coaching techniques, KGA takes a different approach. The coaching team is supportive of their athletes while still pushing them to do their best.

Extremely disappointed. I would have never guessed a professional gymnastics academy would suggest they wouldn't have availability because my child is a boy. He is 6 and has been in gymnastics for the past two years. To suggest he could not take lessons because he would have to be in a class with all girls seems somewhat discriminatory. I hope to have better luck with other gyms in the Louisville area.

KGA has been an awesome place for my daughter. The owner and coaches care about the families of KGA and work with them to be successful and happy. Recently my daughter was injured and the owner personally called me that evening at the ER to make sure both my daughter and I were ok. They have continued to work with and support my daughter despite her injury and I appreciate the confidence she continues to get from every practice.

We came to KGA two years ago in search of a competitive gym for our daughter and we couldn't be happier. She is flourishing in an atmosphere where competition and fun are balanced and healthy. Any problems we've had (always small and unsurprising ) have been dealt with promptly and professionally. KGA provides a competitive team in a healthy, fun framework, and I recommend it highly.

We have loved our time at KGA! The staff, especially the coaches, sincerely care about the gymnasts. They are very open to the parents being involved and are humble in their communication with the parents should any concerns ever arise. We have been at KGA for almost 3 years...first on the recreational side and now the competitive team side. I love watching them practice and work with the girls...I've never heard any coach inappropriately pushing any of the girls to do more than their bodies can handle. My 9-year-old daughter absolutely loves her gym and all those that work there!
With all that being said, I was curious to read the other reviews...I was absolutely shocked to see the feedback someone gave and I honestly cannot believe it's true. It sounded to me like a parent that thinks their child can do no wrong when the child was acting out and probably distracting the whole class. If she was concerned when her child was out of sight, she could have walked down and found out what was going on right then (again, in our experience, KGA has always been open and transparent in all their handlings with the children under their care). I'm not a parent that typically drops off and leaves their gymnast at practice, so all last year, I was in the gym watching my daughter's 6 hours of practice every week...the coach that was named in the poor review, Ashley, is exceptionally patient, and from what I've seen, treats the girls with respect and kindness, but also expects to be treated the same way in return. If the mother tried to speak with her immediately after the class, KGA has classes back to back and it's typically pretty chaotic as transitions are happening. If she was truly that distraught, then stay and demand to speak with someone when the craziness of class dismissal is done. Just my opinion and take on things, because it does bother me when someone is trying to slander the reputation of an amazing gym.

Okay gym but they were not very flexible working with my daughter on the spectrum since she did not always listen and ran off at times. They saw her as a liability and made that clear to me. They also did not have the space to accommodate the number of people/classes running on saturdays.
