Cancelled our family membership after I asked a question about how the daycare staff handled a situation with my BABY. Jake responded with “babies cry” … very astute observation Jake … and then the front desk manager told me that I didn’t belong there. Lmao okay bye.

Women are not safe there. A Hispanic male trainer frequently verbally harasses women and the management does nothing. They care more about the money from his clients than they do the wellbeing of regular clientele.

I have been coming to this gym almost every day for years and I feel like it’s been going downhill for a while now. The equipment is solid but it doesn’t really matter much since it’s extremely overcrowded most of the time. Sauna and steam room are way too small for a gym this size and they are usually full, steam room is out of order pretty frequently and some days they don’t get very hot. Men’s showers, steam room, and sauna aren’t very clean and they just don’t smell good. Some people get in to the hot tub drenched in sweat and it’s just disgusting. The hours this gym has are one of the main things I just hate, Friday they close at 9, Saturday 7, Sunday 8, I will never understand why they close so early these days. For the people that have to work or have things to do these days the hours are just infuriating. I wish they would make this gym 24/7 but I’m sure that’s never going to happen but at the very least close at 11 p.m. EVERY DAY. I’ve seen many reviews complaining about the contracts and the cancellation process hopefully it goes smoothly whenever I decide to cancel my membership which I think will be soon…..

This place is a piece of garbage. I went there on Friday to cancel my contract because I am being stalked by someone who has now followed me there to always see me and monitor my steps and I am not safe or comfortable to continue training there and they told me that I will only have to cancel until 2027. Like, are you guys in your right mind? Do you want to control my money and my safety? Do you want to force me to stay in a place where I do not feel comfortable for your own benefit? This place is a joke and scammers. I am leaving anyway and if they try to do anything to tarnish my credit score I will take this gym to court. Someone needs to put a stop to this joke.

During my visit to the Lexington Athletes Club to inquire about membership, I encountered a staff member who was surprisingly uncooperative, uninterested, and unfriendly, providing brief responses and only offering a tour after I specifically asked, ultimately creating a negative impression otherwise the gym is clean big has all the equipment needed

It's a solid health club with lots of weight areas and machines, a pool, regular full court basketball games, also a sauna and a steamroom. Those are the features I use the most. Wish they didn't close so early on Fri/Sat/Sun. As someone who has an odd work shift, their 9 pm close on Friday has removed a day out of my gym routine. I get early closing on Sat/Sun I guess, but that's three days out of seven with severely limited hours.

We have enjoyed being members at LAC. It is much more affordable for us than previous clubs. It has good options for older children to be active. The staff is incredibly friendly. I have found that the staff at LAC is the most helpful and friendly compared to several other gyms and clubs where we have been members.

The gym is ok overall, very outdated facilities. The locker room smells funny. 2 toilets for a place like this is insane, the showers and sauna are filthy, and the manager dude literally kicks the sauna's door open and asks you to get out around 10:30pm. I'm canceling my membership.

I love the indoor running track, but the staff doesn't explain the rules to new people. Walkers are supposed to be on the inside lanes, running on the outside. The signs they have are super small and no one reads them. I've asked them to display a larger sign that's in the line of sight. Anyway the staff just doesn't care enough to make the rules known. It's always a nightmare to run in January.

look, whoever the old man is that works at the front desk is one of the most entitled people i’ve ever seen. there are times i’ve been where he will yell at you just for going to the bathroom without PAYING for a membership. LAC needs someone on public relations or at least one competent employee to read through these negative reviews and realize there is a reason for these bad reviews. it’s because your morale is so negative. there was a woman and her young child who wanted to drop something off for someone who was swimming and they made her wait upstairs instead of quickly running it back. without taking into account anyone, without trusting any customer. what’s more, this gym is NOT a safe place for any young woman to be in. the amount of men that come through and get too close to women and minors is unbelievable. i know whoever reads this review will know about the man i’m referring to. the old man who comes in, has memory problems, and touches minors. i’m not above more bad reviews on this gym.

The worst gym I've ever been in. They have all the equipment in the world, and a large space, but the positives stop there. The people who workout here are either rude, or have egos so large they don't even look you in the eye. The staff is unbelievably rude as well. I've never been in a space that I felt so unwelcomed.

Great gym and equipment but beware of the contract. I signed up for the 12-month student contract. 12 months passed, I thought my membership would automatically cancel (because it was a 12 month contract, right?) I was just trying to save us both some hassle, even though I moved cities on month 10 of contract. Nope, you have to contact them in writing to cancel it. Could not get refunded for month 13. So, I paid for 3 months I did not use and they could not care less.

Beware the contract! An easy indicator of a business that has no interest in satisfying the customer uses contracts. Anyone remember dropped calls. Once you sign their contract the facility condition, the staff, your happiness all goes out the window. They are here for your money and unless you leave the city your locked in. If you stop paying they just keep the tally and add late fees. Welcome to Hell ! Enjoy your visit.

The facility itself is amazing and they have tons of equipment and space for everyone. The number one thing I would tell people is, DO NOT SIGN UP FOR ANY SPECIAL CONTRACT DEALS. The gym is nice, the equipment is nice, the people are pretentious and they will do anything to get their money every month you are contracted for. I joined because there was what sounded like a great deal for a 2 year contract and I wanted to start lifting weights but had no equipment at home. However, shortly after I joined I sustained a pretty bad neck injury while lifting (it was not their fault so I don't blame them). After this, I was in bed for 2 weeks with ice and heat. I decided that I needed to change my routine to be more focused on cardio because I didn't want to injure myself again. Since the gym is across town for me (and COVID 19 started being serious) I sent in a message to cancel my membership. I go about my normal business for the next 8 months, lost my wallet in March and had to get new cards. One day I go to get the mail and what do I see, a letter threatening me that if I don't pay for the membership months I "missed" (over $150) they are going to send it to collections. They never once contacted me back after I sent them an email explaining my situation. When I called, they basically said, "You have to pay for the whole duration of the contract." There's a pandemic right now and these people want their money that badly that they are going to send someone into collections? What a joke. These people are greedy and entitled. I would never sign another piece of paper for these jokers until I had an attorney look at it and I suggest you look elsewhere if you want people that actually care about your health and not just making a buck.

I got a membership to this gym 2 years ago, I ended up moving 2 hours away and called to talk to someone about my account in order to cancel it. I called 5 times and every time I would inform the front desk I was calling about my account they would say, "oh it looks like they have someone in there at the moment, I can have them give you a call after." I never had gotten a single call back. Two years later, I have a collection on my credit score from LAC. I called this past Sunday and got the same thing as I did when I was trying to calling about my account before. left a message with the front desk personal last week and never got a call back.

I meant to write this when I was still a member. It has been a couple of years and I'm sure this has since been resolved. But given my experience, I wouldn't rejoin. Initially, the only reason I signed up was to do laps in their heated pool. I had been recovering from an injury at the time and it was one of the few activities that was beneficial.
Ultimately, I ended my membership when they started having a 3rd party come in to teach kids/family swimming lessons. Now, I totally support kids learning to swim. That was not the issue. Instead of it being well-organized and fair to both family swimming and lane swimmers, it was chaos. At the time (for months), the swimming schedule changed constantly (posted on the bathroom area walls and not on the website) and the family groups refused to stay in their designated areas of the pool. Neither management or the 3rd party instructors did anything to fix the issues. After 6 months, I finally gave up trying to work around the lack of fair access to the pool and ended my membership.
I certainly support family swimming and kids learning how to. What I didn't like was it was at the expense of making lane swimmers be the bad guys. Along with having to double up in each lane, which is usually designated comfortable for one person, we had to verbally remind parents over and over to please not bring their children out of the general swimming area into the marked lane area. They were using more than 50% of the open pool space for classes. Fine. We simply wanted the roped off lanes to be child-free for those wanting to do laps uninterrupted, as the pool rules clearly outlined.
The 3rd party teaching the classes didn't enforce the rules. Neither did management, or they acted oblivious to the problem and left it to members to sort out. It made it very hard to co-exist in the pool area between the family lessons and the lane swimmers. Nothing more distracting than a parent lifting the rope and gliding into your lane with their kids in tow while you are in your designated workout space. The shallower water and the stairs to exit the pool where in their general swimming space. So there was no real reason to go into the lane area at the other end of the pool.
Yes, I get I "might" sound like a jerk saying this. However, all members should get to enjoy the space, not just families. Hence why they have rules telling you where you should be. In the future, parents please be considerate of those people in the lane area of the pool space. They are in their designated space. You, however, are not. It was clearly indicated at the time, family swimmers were to stay in the general swimming space and not in the roped lanes so that everyone could get fair access to the pool for their respective activities.
I considered coming at a different time. However, they never had a set schedule and didn't coordinate with the gym staff upstairs so members like me, who liked to swim sans kids in the lane area of the pool never knew when the classes were going on. Instead, the chaotic 3rd party posted a paper schedule in the pool area, which changes often both in rotation of days and times, and they refused to email it to anyone who was not part of family swim. It would have been nice to know ahead of time when classes were going on in order to avoid them and reschedule my swim workout. But no matter when I came most days, family swim dominated the entire pool. I was not able to come in before work. So I was stuck not being able to get my workout in.
Anyway. That is my 2 cents on my experience and why I left.

I’ve been a member on and off for over 20 years—both as athlete and mom getting back in shape. Front desk is always helpful. Cindy has been there longer than I have—and she always been amazing. The price will drive some people out—but they intentionally cater to a clientele that will be polite and considerate to others.
People on here are mentioning contract issues—you just need to go in to sign that you want released and prior to the 15th of the month. After a year your contract is month to month.
Let’s just say, you get what you pay for. The best perk is the $10/mo kid membership add on. Your kids 7 and under get 2 hours daycare (my oldest has autism—never had an issue) am & pm while you work out. Older kids get open time at Kids Place.

Granted, I haven't been here long (yet), but this is the nicest gym I've been to. It's been there for a very long time, so it's unlikely to close up (looking at you, YouFit). It's well staffed and clean. It's enormous. Signing up was easy and painless without any of the dreaded high pressure sales pitching, which I think has been my most favorite thing so far. Every staff member I've spoken to has been very friendly and helpful. Towels are provided, water fountain fills water bottles, and the locker rooms are clean and large (first gym I've felt comfortable enough to shower in). It's a little pricier compared to other gyms, but unlimited group fitness classes are included, of which there are MANY to choose from. I look forward to spending many many mornings here and taking advantage of everything it has to offer.

Great experience with LAC. I’ve had two different memberships over the course of almost 4 years. My current membership is month to month and it is a reasonable rate for the cleanliness, size, and overall friendly and attentive staff. The environment is awesome as well. It is definitely an athletic club with all shapes and sizes of people who are there to actually workout unlike many cheaper gyms. I really enjoy the many classes they offer and they are constantly updating classes and equipment. Compare to other high end gyms in the area and you will see it’s a great deal with a little bit of everything. Also, to the people with membership issues, you should obviously pay attention and read before you sign a contract. Contracts are standard with any business that works with memberships.

Do not ever sign anything there! You cannot pay by the month to see if you are going to like going there, or able to terminate if you leave or do something else for a while. You are STUCK with no recourse unless you are injured AND over the age of 55 AND get a physician's note. Unless you know for sure you will go there several times a month, you are better off going to the YMCA., or taking classes privately.

I had a friend of mine that couldn’t stop raving about this gym. He tried to get me to sign up time and time again. Right now LAC has a summer membership that is for 4 months with the first month free. I decided I could take that risk. So I signed up and so far my expectations have been far exceeded. The staff are amazing and friendly. The gym equipment is diverse and all are in great shape. They have a full court gym with hardwood floors, a full pool with 4 lanes and one larger area to swim (at perfect temperature), their locker rooms have very nice decor, and the showers are very clean. Another thing I love about the gym so far is the amount of natural light all throughout most of the workout areas. I’m relatively new there and have only touched the tip of the iceberg from what they have to offer. The pricing may seem high compared to some of the competition but the reasoning for it is shown clearly in the quality of your experience at LAC. If you notice a short term contract for a few months I say absolutely take advantage of it and try the gym out! If you decide to do a longer one I strongly feel you wouldn’t be disappointed.

I have been coming here for over 8 years and after visiting other gyms around Lexington I cannot think of a single reason outside of a small difference in price why I would ever change. Some of the other gyms may be a few bucks less expensive but it cannot make up for the difference in the quality of the gym. Indoor pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, CrossFit, racquetball courts, spinning room, women's only fitness room, free weights, indoor basketball court, indoor running track, nautilus equipment and of course as many cardio machines as a heart would desire. I have never needed to wait for any cardio need 😉. I almost forgot a small daycare and kids place to top it off.

Don't trust the Administration here! I've had to call and come in just to speak with one of the many lackluster employees that work there to have them explain to me why my monthly rate has changed a couple times without any notifications to me (those rates actually went back to my baseline monthly pay because they changed it "on accident"). If the rates are going up, let me know and I'll make the decision to stay or not. When I confronted them about the change, they immediately passed the buck off to the billing company and said they couldn't help. I've lived in Lexington since 1999 and have heard the same issues over the many years with LAC. They're only interested in their bottom line and not customer retention, which should be synonymous in all companies, but they don't operate that way. DON'T TRUST THEM!

I first want to start off by saying I have been a customer at LAC for 3 years now. Never have I ever had an issue with this place until today. I go in at different times of the day, do my workout, clean up after myself and then go about my business. Today I walk in around 8:30 this morning and go to the general to the right at the bottom of the stairs. I see a few people in there working out and think. I think nothing of it. A few more people walk into the room and the lady apparently conducting a class walks over and puts a chair in front of the door with a sign saying class is in session then proceeds to kick all of us out of the room. I tell her I pay a premium monthly like everyone else and there was no indicTion a class was going on and to have the manager speak with me. The “lady” manager then kicks me out and says I CAN NOT be in there when a class is going on. Mind you I wasn’t distracting anyone, I was simply on the side against the wall warming up. I talk with her in the office and tell her in the last 3 years, as a paying customer, I’ve never been made aware that it is AGAINST THE RULES to be in there with a class going on. She said “Well, there’s not a lot of things in the contract and I can’t go in there.” Now I’ve always been courteous to the patrons in that room when it’s clear a class was going on. This wasn’t the case. I then speak with the general manager Mark and he tells me that he is going to defend the rude instructor and that if I don’t like it “ I can find another gym to work out at and he could recommend one for me.” Then REFUSES to give me the corporate offices number and tells me “it’s easy to find.” Really? This is how the management treats a LONGTIME LOYAL customer at first issue. I will be cancelling my membership and reporting to the BBB of the offensive and egregious manner in which they treat their customers.

Incredibly helpful staff and reasonable prices. I am an in town guest every 3-4 months and they are always incredibly accommodating. Love the facilities. Seems like they have more than enough equipment and enough space to not feel like there are too many people on a busy night. One criticism is that I would prefer the machines to be a little closer to the free weights, but that is because I do super sets with both. Additionally, things can feel a little tight because of the amount of options they have in the free weights sections. But these are both more personal preferences and not really big issues.
