Lord’s Gym Ministries, borne of the Foundation of Compassionate American Samaritans (FOCAS), began in 1993 serving in the urban core of Greater Cincinnati transforming lives and seeing people grow strong in the Lord (Ephesians 6:10).
We work on a very spartan budget, limited processes, a no-frills environment, and high financial accountability standards. We have been a member of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability or ECFA since 2002.
FOCAS, the parent organization, also hosts and operates the Youth Resiliency Adventure, in October.

I love the outreach program they have here. They offer shelter services m-f untill 1pm, coffee, warm food and the gospel. Been going here for years. Through my ups and downs. Seems like whenever I lose sight of Christ he leads me right back to bible studies here at 9am.

Wonderful people to be around. Their doors are always open for anyone during the weekdays, but they are normally closed during the weekends. If you ever need any information or assistance with anything, talk to Pastor James, he is the main individual that runs this place and is always open to help others who are in need of help.

There's no doubt that this place is good for the community & the people are usually very friendly but I was there the other day & told the blonde lady I bring stuff down to donate sometimes & asked if I could look at the food on the shelf. She wouldn't let me unless I filled out a membership form for $20. She was pushy & rude. I'll take my many donations to Welcome House from now on.

This place has showed me care and a purpose when nobody could get thru to me...when nobody could distract me from my self destructive designs, when it was easier to just jump from a bridge than cope and exist. They were the last stop on the rail line for me. They showed me a pin point of light in an overwhelming dark. My mission became gathering those pin points of light till enough was lit that I could see in the dark and it saved my life.

Lord's Gym is an outreach for the homeless run by Pastor James Duncan. Pastor James provides a warm, dry, safe and loving environment for everyone who walks through the door Monday through Friday 8am-430pm.
The Lord's Gym supports the homeless and the needy in Covington. They provide a stable Christian environment with hot food and hot coffee throughout the day, a Job Center, a gym, Christian music, Bible Study and Bible Trivia, Friday night Outreach, as well as friendship and fellowship.
At 9am and 12pm he offers Bible Study to anyone who wants to participate. Participation in not required but anyone who does not wish to join the Bible Study must be respectful and not talk during Bible Study. Pastor James is a laid back kind of guy but he's serious about the rules during Bible Study.
The coffee pot is always on and refrigerator is always full by the Goodness and Grace of God. Everyone is welcome to eat as much as they want. On the extremely rare occasions when the refrigerator is empty God always miraculously provides. I've been present for the miracle twice. Pastor James told everyone there wasn't going to be any food that day and why. Just a few minutes later a man walked in with bags and bags of McDonald'scto feed everyone. No one called this man and he didn't know anything about the empty refrigerator. He didn't even know anything about Lord's Gym. He bought the food to feed people and chose Lord's Gym randomly. When he stopped and parked he didn't know anything about Lord's Gym or that the place was packed full with hungry men and women who were looking forward to eating lunch but had been told that there wasn't going to bw any food that day just minutes earlier. When Pastor James saw all the McDonald's food he offered a prayer thanking God for the food and said he wasn't at surprised anymore when things like this happen. He said all of the food and coffee offered at the Gym is provided in the same miraculous way.
Pastor James shows everyone who comes through the door the love of Christ. He cares, he's concerned, he's understanding, he's supportive and always willing to help in any way he can but only if you want help. He's never pushy, nosey or intrusive but always ready to listen if you want to talk. He's a wonderful friend, teacher, and role model. By his words and actions you can tell he lives his life as if he is continuously asking himself "What Would Jesus Do?"

The Lord's gym is a men's ministry dedicated to helping men rediscover themselves and redefine how they can function in society, personal relationships, and life skills development. Most men that come through our doors are looking for not only a physical change but a spiritual one as well. We are one of many barriers between one more act of domestic violence against society as a whole.
