I’ve been going to the gym on and off at Mega Gym for around 2 years. Anytime I have needed to pause or restart my membership they have been wonderful. I have to say it’s been one of the cleanest gyms I have been too with one of the most respectful environments and have felt comfortable there for a while. One thing I wish I knew more about was how to get started with working with a trainer on some of my goals.

I’ve previously filed a complaint with BBB requarding my gym cancellation that was “never in the system”. I made the mistake of losing my copy of the cancellation form and didn’t realize until about 4 months later that they had still been charging me. I figured it was a simple mistake so I went in person to resolve the issue but was told there was no record of my cancellation and since I didn’t have my copy the only thing they could do was cancel my membership again. Right after this I made sure to take a picture of my copy of the cancellation form and headed to my bank to try and dispute what charges I could. On top of disputing 3 months of payments (not 4 because I was told I would get charged once more because of the 30 day cancellation notice) the bank offered to block Mega Gym from charging to my account as well as send me a new card which I jumped at the offer. No way was I going to let them take anymore of my money. Soon I started getting automated calls from Mega Gyms’ billing company asking for my card information so I blocked the number. Then I was contacted months after filing the complaint from a management member at the Benton location who wanted to resolve the issue. She explained that if you dispute charges or block them from charging to your account (i can’t remember which one) then you get fined which explains why I was getting those calls. I explained that I wanted the money back that I was owed but her solution was for me to write off my complaint with BBB and then she would get rid of the fines I had accumulated, not give me back any money they took. This didn’t sit well with me so I never settled the BBB complaint and my bank found that I was entitled to the money disputed. Now, almost a year after I originally cancelled my membership, the fines from disputing those charges are in a collection agencies hands.

Dear Mega Gym, are you a broke college student? how badly do you need $133?

As I stated before, my initial membership cancellation was not found in the system and I failed to keep my personal copy then I had to cancel for a second time which is the one you now have on file. I believe all of my information is correct outside of how Mega Gym handles disputed payments.

The staff is very nice and helpful. There is a large array of equipment and plenty of area to work without being hindered. There are some pretty good amenities such as the massage chairs and the tanning beds. The down sides are that the fitness room is only open while staff is there, and the bathroom/lockerroom doesn't have adequate ventilation. It always stinks in there and it could be cleaned more often.

I was recommended Mega Gym by some friends, and I enjoy it on an overall level. The biggest thing for me is the sauna in the locker rooms, which I've struggled to find at other gyms.

Their termination process isn't as smooth as I'd like, which was quite a problem when I was moving away to school. You have to go in person to cancel, and if you don't there isn't any way to do such unless certain circumstances are present. This all is said in the contract you sign when joining, but the difficulty I faced definitely wasn't brought up.

If I had one building complaint, it would just be about the hip abductor machine they have. It's a combo machine that combines an inner and outer hip abductor, and it seems to act a bit clunky as a result. All other machines in the gym are more than fine for me though; I've never had an issue finding the right equipment for what I'm doing.

Great gym! Large space to work out in. Has every machine and workout equipment you could need and extras so you can adapt to not wait on other. It can get busy in the morning between 7 to 9 does down and picks up around 3 or 4. I highly recommend for some looking to get back in shape.

This is actually serenity Henley, but this has been the only way to contact the owner so I’m trying again. I signed my cancellation fee last year and they refused to have any contact with me despite me trying to handle things kindly, I moved away and they kept charging me for months despite me canceling and trying to contact them, I eventually cancelled my bank account. They then contacted their lawyer. I left a review and they then responded on here with a way to contact them, it doesn’t work. They never replied. Not once. Any reviews you see about them trying to fix their problems they probably didn’t. Once again don’t trust them with your money. Their are multiple reviews on here stating how people have been having issues canceling, so i know I’m not the only one. I’m not paying you for your mistake, especially when I tried to contact you multiple times. I’m going to talk to your law office tomorrow.I wish we could have handled this, but they have to be able to have actual contact with their customers for that to happen, they would rather scam you out of your money and it is gross.

Great gym set up, but when you try to cancel your membership they will not help you at all! I canceled in person last summer. I then moved out of the area, 2+ months later I was still being charged. I ended up being charged for about 5 months total. During this I contacted them multiple times and they were no help (saying they will call back, never answering emails, etc). I then disputed the charges because they would not, and opened a new bank account with a physical location closer to where I live. I only go after work which for me is after hours so there’s never anyone working for me to talk to about things, for instance I’ve been going for a little over a month and the water filter for the bottle filler has been marked as needing to be changed the whole time. This was a very nice gym but when you go to cancel your membership, they will give you the runaround. Canceled my membership back in September 2021 because I had to move away which I had to pay a hefty cancellation fee and yet they are still charging my card $45/month. Also called them multiple times and they always tell me they would call me back but never have I received one from them. I even tried to contact via email and they never replied. It is now January of 2022 and they still couldn't give me an answer on why I'm still being charged. Highly would NOT recommend!!

As a weightlifter and wrestler I fully recommend Mega Gym in Murray as your go to gym. I've used other gyms in Murray and Murray State's gym on campus, and neither match the quality I look for in a good gym. Staff and other members have always been kind to me and place is kept clean with good gym etiquette all around.

Only thing I could say is a negative is the price being a little too high imo, but there is multiple types of discounts to be had, so ask about them for sure!

I feel as though I was tricked into signing a bunch of things without explanation. If I had know it would be this difficult to remove my membership I would’ve never done it in the first place. I now have to pay $150 termination fee, or pay till the end of my “agreement” when I was told before that I could simply come in to sign paperwork to end my membership. One location will tell you one thing, and the others will be completely different. All employees do not seem to be on the same page as far as policy is concerned. I wouldn’t recommend if you are looking for a short term gym.

If you expect courtesy, honesty, and respect from the businesses to whom you pay money, avoid Mega Gym.

They will force you to show up in person to cancel. Not only is this blatantly anti-consumer (any other subscription can be canceled over the phone or online), but continuing this practice during COVID is totally unethical.
I walked in wearing a mask for the signing of papers (as this requires close proximity and I had no intention of exercising) and none of the employees, including the one I was working with, wore a mask. I would expect this out of a cheaper gym, but I expect far more for the high price they are charging. I can only assume such disregard for public health is also reflected in the sanitation of machines and facilities.

If you enter a month-by-month subscription beware that they will charge you for an extra month past when you want to cancel, claiming they needed "30 days notice." There is no legitimate reason for this other than to extract that last drop of money from you. That extra month is almost 40 dollars, which is not trivial for most people.

TL;DR: Predatory anti-consumer business practices; disregard for public health and safety; overpriced; customer service is mediocre.

Upon moving to Murray this was the first place I came to looking for a gym to be apart of . I was misinformed of the pricing and was shocked I mean baffled at how could that be. By what I was told pricing would be for 1 person 165 to start and 87.00 a mnth . I was like no way I have been to many gyms and its never been that high.
Well I was misinformed completely think it was by accident or a new person. Thank God!

Lots of good equipment and services, but what I don’t understand is why military members have to pay $38 a month while Murray State University students only pay $26 with no yearly contract. First of all the students have a school gym they can go to for free. Second, active military shouldn’t be in a 1 year contract because you never know when deployment comes around. Sure you can cancel when you tell them but it’s a hassle. Mega gym needs to fix this.

I have limited time for the gym in my schedule. So when i walk in and an open use area is reserved for four days week for a class and don't have access to an area to stretch and use some of the equipment in the room how is this right?

Would have rated this place two stars cause the staff in murray is friendly and helpful but i saw management slamming bad reviews. That's not customer service nor professional. Take criticism and improve you business. Planet fitness would put this place to shame if they came to town. Highway robbery if you aren't under a corporate account.
Please take time to know what your rooms are reserved for, it is for 4 days a week, not 2. If you would like I can go back and post a picture of the paper taped to the wall.

They have requested a copy of the lease which I have submitted twice and yet no one from the Benton gym ie Rachael will return my call. Great gym with tons of well kept and very nice equipment. It is not really geared toward the hardcore athlete/powerlifter/bodybuilder though some do go there. There are a lot of fufu machines and an abnormal amount of cardio equipment. Treadmills, bikes, multiple kinds of ellipticals, stairsteppers, etc.. only two flat bench press stations, two incline stations, one decline station, two squat racks, one deadlift area, one power rack (including this as a squat station). Two adjustable benches, one flat bench, one straight back chair. One large cable station with 4 hookups, and one smaller one with two hook ups.
Staff are all women, by design because they are all attractive and fit. Most of then are very friendly and willing to help you. Overall I'd say this is a gym for semi serious lifters and average janes and joes. It's very busy, very often. At 530 am on weekdays good luck parking. Weekend mornings are much better. Serious folks train there as well however, dont get me wrong. Hell I do! Overall, good, clean, friendly, well rounded gym. Tanning beds available, hydrotherapy massage free to members, aerobics room, and a dance like room with a wooden floor used for larger private classes usually.

I like this gym and I will continue to go here because it's the best gym in Murray. I hate the music they play though thank God for ear phones. And if you are into deadlifting it's super annoying that they don't have a dolly to help set up the weights o. The deadlift barbell. I've asked for them to look into this twice and nothing has changed. Really wish it would. It is an inexpensive suggestion.
