I hate planet fitness the staff will never help you. They don’t know anything that they’re doing up there. I have been a member for years and I came in to cancel my membership and the lady told me I would not be charged for this month because I came in before it came out of my bank account but I did come after the 10th but she didn’t tell me that so when I called Drew was very rude and would not help at all I told him I wasn’t even gonna come in that month. Could you please work it out where I can get my money back because I really need my money in my account But they do not care. All they care about is making money and treating their customers like crap it’s always so crowded in there. You can’t ever get the tanning bed.

It's big and pretty clean. That's the good. The tanning and massage chairs are a plus. But...

The downside is a presence of clientele who are inconsiderate, selfish and do not care about gym etiquette. Members hog machines while others wait, and they often spend more time texting while using an apparatus than actual lifting. Many do not wipe their sweat off the pads when finished with the machine. Still others do not return the weights to the designated spots; many leave heavy plates on the bars instead of stripping them for the next member. You often see a pair of dumbbells (the people and the weights) laying on the floor up to 75 feet away from the proper place in which they came.

The real clincher here is CLIMATE CONTROL. If you want to sweat like a pig in hot, heavy and thick air, and lose energy quickly before finishing your workout, then this is the place for you.

This is an ongoing problem, going back 4 years. You never know what you are going to step into. Usually a sauna. The temps under previous management kept the thermostat at a comfortable 68°. That didn't last long. Today, the temp was 78° in heavy stagnant air. Throughout the years, I have asked staff to cool the gym down. 'Never happens.

The reply I get is that corporate has control of the thermostat and AC units. Obviously, corporate doesn't care, because nothing ever gets done. It was 100° outside today, yet, only 3 out of the 4 units were functioning.

Last but not least, please note that bacteria thrives in hot and humid temperatures. With the high amount of sweaty bodies and exposed surface areas, this is far from a sterile environment. Granted, staff does a good amount of wiping down equipment, but why not make everyone more comfortable, and the environment more safe, by simply providing adequate and consistent climate control.

My car is in the shop, so I have had to Uber a ride to the facility, only to walk into a sweatbox and ponder leaving right-away to go back home.

It appears that PF is narrowly focused on sales, leaving comfort on the back burner, pun intended.

2025 update: I canceled when I wrote this original review back in 2024. Five days ago they billed me again. When called the store, the assistant manager absolutely refused to refund my fee, though they can clearly see that I haven't been there. I was told that I signed a document to pause the membership. She is correct, I did sign a document, but I THOUGHT I was getting what I asked for, which was to PAUSE. Yes, its my fault for signing the little tiny screen and not reading. $30 lesson learned. So anyway, I'm out $30 for THEIR mistake, AND they canceled my membership immediately, so now I couldn't even use the gym for the 39 days I ALREADY PAID FOR!!

Planet Fitness in general is fantastic. This location in Bowling Green, KY needs to evaluate their staff. I come early in the morning and the overnight crew is wonderful. However, the gal that comes in at 6am is flat, rude, and inattentive. She is always at the computer with her back to the floor and sometimes sits in the black member lounge on her laptop. Multiple stations with no sanitizer, spray, or paper towels. She doesn’t answer the phone or attend to guests that need to tan or hydro in a timely fashion. Last week I had to call FIVE TIMES from the tanning room to get her to take care of the issue with the bed not starting. I have stood at the counter in excess of ten minutes waiting for her to come out of the back to assist. I may change gyms / cancel just because of this lack of customer service.

I live full time in a skoolie while traveling the country, planet fitness is my go to for a long hot steamy shower that isn’t limited by my tank size and fuel levels. This review is my personal comparison having been to tons of other planet fitness locations and based entirely on the quality of the locker room and shower facilities.

Nice facade but shower facilities are inoperable. Water heater is broken. When I alerted the staff the response was “it always goes in and out” That represents a complete failure of the management team. It’s a problem they know about and don’t see a need to fix.

There's a young man that works there Bradley (I think that's his name), who is the most adorable , sweetest kid ( no disrespect) that manages to welcome me when I enter and tells me to have a good day when I leave. Worst planet fitness I've been at across the country. Showers filthy with wads of hair, no hot water after running each one for 5 minutes straight. No toilet paper in bathrooms. No hair dryers. Planet Fitness business model works because of their "fine print" policies.

I called to cancel in January of 2021. They said my account was then frozen and if I ever wanted to be a member to call them back and let them know and they'd unfreeze my account. Remember, I asked to cancel. I noticed today, November 1st 2023 that they are STILL charging me, 35 months later!!!

When I called the local planet fitness the "Assistant Manager" informed me that when they "freeze an account", it becomes "reactivated" after 6 months, where they then start charging you again.

I let the "Assistant Manager" know this was completely unacceptable, and I wanted to speak to the Regional Manager. She said she didn't have a number for her Regional Manager, but that she'd go ahead and freeze my account, again. Imagine that, trying the same trick twice, on the same person.

I'm furious with the lack of consideration, refusal to make things right, and with Planet Fitness as a whole. DO NOT join this over crowded, shady practices, no customer service having Gym! And if you do, get it in writing when you cancel. As they may still be chsrging you 35 months later, after you request to cancel your membership.

If you’re looking to get in a good workout and aren’t looking for classes, this is the best deal going at $10 per month. Open and staffed 24/7, they have dozens of treadmills, ellipticals, and other cardio equipment, as well as a huge weights area. The only free weights they have are dumbbells and barbells, but they have a ton of high quality machines. Locker rooms are large and they have showers as well. If you want to pay the premium of $25 per month you can use the hydromassage and tanning beds.
In my experience early mornings are the best time to go, as you can easily get on whatever you’re needing. Evenings can be very busy here, but that’s true for all gyms.
They sell Muscle Milk, water, and other products too.

I’ve been coming here for about a month now. I’m satisfied overall. It’s pretty clean most of the time. Everyone does a decent job. Recently though when I came I encountered an uncomfortable situation when I got out of class the other day. There was a worker and her boyfriend laying all over each other on the couch in the back room and it made me uncomfortable. They were both displaying massive amounts of public displays of affection. It’s fine if they want to do that in there own space and time. Not in a gym where members pay with there own money to come do there thing. When I go to the gym I expect a professional atmosphere to be around. The next day I went in, there was no toilet paper in two of the stalls I had to ask one of the other girls in the bathroom to get me toilet paper. I was so embarrassed. After my workout that same day I went back to take a shower. There was massive hair clogged in the shower. Like it look to be the size of a quarter just sitting in the middle of the silver part of the shower. I felt disgusted. When I workout. I had to walk half way across the gym to just get papertowels because five cleaning sections were empty. The two of the spray bottles don’t even work?!?. Came in this morning, I was gonna workout but I didn’t feel like it I was so tired from my night shift, I was going to purchase a purple bottle off the shelf. I went to the desk and I stood there a good while waiting to know how much the price of it would be. He was standing there drawing on a piece of paper for like five minutes before I was said it’s important to be observant of your customers I’ve been standing here a while. I asked the price if the bottle. It was a bit more then what I wanted to spend. Considering I’m already paying a couple hundred bucks a year for a black card membership. When your talking to customers though make sure your breath doesn’t stink. It’s unprofessional.
