Parking Policy Miscommunication at Elizabethtown, KY Planet Fitness

I wanted to share a recent experience that my Husband and I had at the Elizabethtown, KY location involving semi-truck parking, in hopes it helps improve communication for future visitors.

On the evening of June 8th 2025, I called around 7:40 PM to ask about parking for our semi-truck and trailer. I spoke with a male staff member who told me we could either park along the side near the donation box or behind the building. I repeated these options back to him to confirm, and he stated clearly that parking in either location would not be a problem. I then ask about if overnight parking would be a problem and he confirmed again that if we park in either location “no one would bother us”. (We have never been to this location before and we make a habit to call ahead to any location we are going to because we want to be able to workout/shower and if necessary park for the night)

We arrived around 1:30 AM and, based on the instructions we were given, parked along the side by the donation box. The next morning around 8:30 AM, the regional manager woke us (by knocking aggressively on the window ) and informed us that parking there was not allowed and that we needed to move behind the building. He informed us there was a sign stating "No trucks with trailers over 30 ft." We acknowledge that we missed that sign — arriving late and tired, we were primarily relying on the verbal directions given earlier, and didn’t think to double-check signage at that hour. Human error on both sides we must admit. He told us we had 10 minutes to move.

We move the truck to the back lot as instructed only to see posted signs “No semi trucks on lot” and “No truck turn around,” and also the planet fitness sign “no tractor trailer trucks over 30 feet allowed on premises”
which as you can imagine added to our confusion. This was the same sign posted in the front that we initially missed. Here we are again with verbal permission to park somewhere, but is this not what just happened to us ? If parked longer would a different employee then inform us that we can’t park here? Honestly I would just tell anyone coming to this location with a semi truck that there is no available parking. We can just look for another location that can accommodate and uber to the gym if needed. That way our precious sleep isn’t interrupted and we can remain safe while on the road.

While we understand the importance of respecting property rules, the conflicting information between staff members led to unnecessary disruption and confusion. We followed the instructions we were given in good faith, and we complied immediately when asked to move.

We’re grateful that many Planet Fitness locations are truck-friendly and provide a place for drivers like us to get rest and stay healthy. I’d just encourage clarifying parking policies among staff to avoid misunderstandings like this in the future.

I was in town and needed a 24 hour Planet Fitness to shower, work out, and charge my battery after work. The two employees working the overnight shift then proceeded to tell me I can't charge my battery because it is a liability issue. I do this exact same routine at every Planet Fitness I go to around the country but a thin, fair skinned boy and a girl with a bunch of piercings kept telling me that their manager is super strict and doesn't even allow people to charge their phones in the gym. First of all, I don't believe that. Second, what kind of gym/business doesn't allow their customers to use the outlets conveniently stationed all over their gym. As the expression goes, wisdom is chasing them but they are faster!

BOO. NO STARS ACTUALLY. went there on a Saturday after working outside all day and was sitting on the couch drinking a glass of ice water to cool off before I started a workout and was TOLD I COULDN'T SET THERE IF I WASN'T WORKING OUT. Just recently transferred from a different planet fitness and would routinely cool off after work before working out and check my emails without ANYTHING EVER BEING SAID UNTIL I SWITCHED HERE. Seems like every time I go to this one period someone got something smart to say. RADCLIFF ISN'T THAT FAR AWAY AND MUCH FRIENDLIER STAFF, WOULDN'T WASTE MY TIME HERE. I generally started going a month ago. Mostly at night. I have had the opportunity to be greeted with the duo Larry and Robert. Let me just say give these young men a raise. Went in to check out the place only to be told men are allowed in the dressing room of women. If they "identify" as the opposite sex. If your born a male your a male, if your born a female then your a female. There is no identifying as anything else- so that's a big NO for me.

Would love to give 5 stars, but that's probably why it's mid-renovation. Assuming they'll be fixing the issues in the expansion. As of now the equipment is old, half of the televisions at the cardio equipment don't work, very few tanning beds, and parking lot is small. I'm also comparing this location to the 5 others I've been a member at (we've moved to multiple states in the last decade). While this is by far the worst one I've been a member at, that can all change if the remodel fixes everything. On the positive side, staff is friendly and the place is clean.

This place is great! The staff is always cleaning and you can tell. They are friendly when you walk in. I love the 30 minute circuit, it’s great for beginners because you go at your pace. I upgraded to the black card to use the massages.

I am legally blind and I thought that this would be a safe environment to work on myself improvement, I was wrong. When I was working out two employees went into the locker room and cut my padlock and allowed another patron to steal my belongings. When I started asking questions about it the manager minimized and disregarded the issue actually hanging up on the individual who was on the phone communicating to them about it. I was asked by another employee if my belongings that were stolen was the issue or if it was the principal. I was lied to, guess lit, and disregarded.

I moved and I thought My membership was canceled but it was on freeze. Now I Literally can't cancel without paying for services when I thought it was canceled for the last 10 months. It was only till last week I figured out if I could cancel online thanks to that awesome trainer. Every other associate has told me that I have to cancel in person if If I had known I could cancel online I would have done it before getting charged for service not rendered. I have been calling and emailing now for about 2 months since the account was unfrozen that I thought was canceled. I was prepared to pay but then when I look at the account there's a lot more money owed than I thought for services I haven't used. I was happy to pay before and now I'm frustrated and getting angry that I can't get this handled Even though I tried to call everyday and have emailed multiple times.

I travel for a living, so that's why I am currently using this Planet Fitness the most. I love this location. Staff are friendly, equipment is clean and useful, locker room could probably use a dehumidifier, but it's clean/spacious other than that.

My ONLY complaint is that they just made the switch to the Matrix cardio equipment.... At the other PFs I've been to that have the Matrix cardio equipment I've noticed the treadmills are HORRIBLE. They feel like they're at a permanent incline, cause pain, etc. I've posted about this on social media and it seems that a lot of people agree with me that the Matrix treadmills are a huge step down from the Life Fitness treadmills. There are several other posts online where other people have mentioned the Matrix treadmills too and it appears that I am not alone in this complaint.

I will unfortunately have to get use to these machines, seeing as how I run 4 miles a day on a treadmill. But they won't deter me from attending this club specifically. It is a great club all around, the only con is the Matrix treadmills.

+4 stars for great equipment, great staff, great space, great hours

Don’t let the location of this PF deter you. It’s amazing inside. So spacious, clean and has a lot of equipment, mats and extras. Enough to spread out. Very nicely done.
I almost gave 4 stars because the woman’s shower area was not clean and had a lot of water on the floor. However it was a holiday and the female staff had not arrived so I am giving grace on this review because everything else was so great. 😀

Overall, planet fitness is a great gym. To start off with, it's only 10 dollars a month, and there are occasionally deals and events so it can be even cheaper. It's always open 24/7 so I can go at any time, the staff is friendly, and the place is clean. There are a great variety of machines so most muscle groups can be worked out, the dumbbells go decently high (I think it's from 5-75) so there's plenty of room for growth, and most machines range from very light to extremely heavy so even more serious lifters have a place. The only issue for me is the lack of free weights for dead lifts and bench press but other than that, planet fitness is amazing.

This place is a JOKE. I went in to the location last may to cancel my membership. They put a FREEZE on my account that has now unfroze and they have charged me a monthly fee when I haven’t been to this place in almost a year. They are rude and very disrespectful and unprofessional they act like they have done NOTHING wrong. I have asked for a refund and they tell me they don’t do refunds all because I “signed” something. I recently moved from Michigan from my home gym which was a planet fitness that I love and moved here Kentucky and found E town Elizabeth towns planet fitness and when I arrived they were going through an upgrade and I can say that They have the best of everything they're upgrades have turned out amazing the gym's clean it smells good the staffs amazing they are on top of their jobs keeping canning buds clean the locker rooms are amazing the staff is amazing they do have a tanning supplies on hand Such as lotion I wear bronzers and so much more they also have a lot of cool merchandise you can purchase I was so afraid to leave my gym back home but I could not have Got any luckier with a gym that was getting a total remodel and turned out absolutely amazing Thank you so much to the friendly staff there and I look forward to seeing you guys tomorrow I would highly recommend going in and Giving them a chance and looking around and getting a package there it is so worth the money for such a clean friendly environment With great staff and their tanning beds are amazing♡♡♡♡ And I can't leave out there amazing newmassage chairs You must go in and check them out promise you will not be disappointed

I used to be a member of the one in Louisville but had a bad experience. Now that I've moved to etown I am worried if I should try a different gym or stay with planet fitness.
