The rowing machines at this location are constantly broken. The staff on site does nothing about it when it's reported. It seems as if they just look at the machine and say it's fine. However, they don't function correctly. You cannot add or remove resistance or the rower has no power. This has been an issue I have been reporting on and off since late 2024. I reported this on a recent survey and someone reached out to me. However it wasn't very helpful and I had to follow up multiple times. This has impacted my routine and I am now exploring other options.

Truck drivers: you can park to train. Can not stay! Besides that, the gym is okay. The hydro massage chairs and such are nice. It’s clean. But it’s lacking in equipment. No deadlift or free squat racks. Just smith machines as far as I saw. Has most everything else. Believe it or not, the rating is more for the missing equipment than anything else. I can do most everything on my own except deadlift and squat heavy. Would love that option in a gym I’m paying to go to.

Something weird I noticed was that the cable machine weights felt significantly different from any other planet fitness I’ve been to. It almost seems like they were measured in kilograms because during an exercise that I can normally do 100 lbs on, the machine didn’t even go up to 100. I found the around the number 60 was good for me (whatever measurement of weight it was using I’m not sure). Can’t complain too much if you can still get a workout in though. Bonus points for an extra rack of barbells. Showers and locker room were clean and employees were nice!

On April 18 at approximately 3:20 PM, I was at [Planet Fitness, Lexington Ky 250 Life Ln], where I am a paying member. I use a push scooter for mobility assistance due to obesity (gaining 100lbs+) caused by PTSD (after recalling childhood trauma). This has been acknowledged by my therapist Jenna Ward, and at 325 pounds, I meet the medical and ADA definition of someone with mobility limitations. The scooter helps me safely navigate distances, especially in conjunction with the bus.

A staff member named Cadie told me I could not bring the scooter inside, saying it was a “liability/lawsuit issue.” I asked to leave it just inside the entrance for safety, but she refused, even though she said she would “watch it” outside. I explained that if it felt discriminatory.

Later, the manager, Chuck, came in and I told him. He confronted me and said I had to prove it was for medical mobility. I calmly showed him the ADA.gov site, which clearly says that a verbal statement is sufficient and businesses cannot request documentation. He dismissed this, said “I don’t care what you have to say,” and told me to leave. He said I was “causing a scene” for asserting my federally protected 'Americans With Disabilities Administration' rights.

This was humiliating, discriminatory, and a clear ADA violation:

-Denial of access to a public business based on disability

-Discrimination based on my appearance and mobility aid

-Retaliation for asserting my rights under the ADA

To be clear: I have a medically acknowledged condition (PTSD-related obesity) that substantially limits my ability to walk and stand for long periods. I use a scooter to mitigate this and move safely. That falls under ADA protection.

I am reporting this for formal review, and I request that the gym be required to comply with ADA law and offer equal access to all patrons, regardless of their appearance, condition, or choice of mobility device. It's the companies motto "You Belong" plastered on every wall. They violated this deeply today and doubled down when confronted with facts/law/basic morality. I reported to ADA for illegial violations and request correction within the store/company too. Please respond

This gym is clean and well-maintained, and I do prefer the newer machines here compared to the next closest location. However, the policies at this Planet Fitness are unnecessarily strict and make the experience frustrating. I have a Black Card and travel frequently, yet this is the only gym that requires me to ‘sign in’ just because it’s not my home location. It feels excessive and inconvenient. I’ve also been apart of staff loudly calling out to my name—even when wearing headphones—to enforce this rule.

On top of that, they require proof of eyewear before allowing access to the tanning beds. While I understand they’re doing their jobs, no other location I’ve visited enforces these policies so aggressively. Instead of feeling welcome, I constantly feel harassed here.

To make matters worse, when I tried to address my concerns with a manager, the conversation led nowhere. As I turned to walk away, I overheard her tell the team members that I was ‘not worth the time.’ That level of unprofessionalism speaks volumes about how they view their members.

Unfortunately, this is my closest location, and I do like the equipment, but I’m not happy with my experience at the Life Lane location. I hope they reconsider how they treat their members.

Nice clean gym. I have a Black card because I travel and use it at many PF’s but this is the only one where I have to “sign in” because it’s not my home gym. Absolutely ridiculous. Saw someone scan in before me one time, she had her headphones in, and they would keep speaking loudly to get her attention to sign in. Again, only gym I’ve seen doing this for Black Card members.

Also, I feel like I have to walk halfway across the gym just to get to the paper towel dispensers and trash cans.

I ask the lady staff was it OK if I could charge my laptop behind the staff desk so I wouldn't risk getting my laptop stolen. She rudely said no!!! In suggested I charge on the table where anyone could walk by in grab hold of it. It wouldn't have harm in any way by doing a loyal black card planet fitness member a small kind favor. I started coming to the gym on my own for the first time ever in June this year. I had reached the worst fitness level and weight in my life and it was really affecting my day to day life. Since I was going to be climbing a volcano this year in Nicaragua while on a humanitarian service trip, I wanted to use that challenge as a means to kick start a new habit of exercise for long-term health. The same volcano trip last year kicked my butt and I almost couldn’t complete the full trek to the top. I wanted to be prepared this time.

So, I signed up for Planet Fitness online and went to the location that recently opened by my house. I didn’t know how to use any of the machines aside from the treadmill and I had no clue where to even start. The trainer on staff, JB, was in between sessions and happened to be at the front desk when I timidly asked for some direction to get me going. He showed me how to sign up for a personal training session, but then graciously decided to squeeze me in right before his next class to design a workout plan. He asked me my goals (volcano and long term), my history and health concerns, and how much time I had to commit to workouts per week. He wrote out a full week plan alternating focus areas and how to gauge my progress/up the challenge each week. Each machine is labeled and has a QR code that shows a video to remind me how to use it correctly.

Only 6 weeks later, I scaled that volcano and it was almost not a challenge! Also I finally convinced my husband to start coming with the me and shared my plan with him, which he was able to tailor to his own level of strength/fitness. He is now a member and comes on his own, motivated by the experience I have had.

I really appreciate JB and Planet Fitness. The perks are worth it too: massage chair, water massage chair, and cryotherapy chair are all worth the upgraded membership!

Love this PF location! I’ve been a PF member for years and have worked out at several locations and this one is by far my favorite! It’s always clean- both the equipment and the locker room- and has a wider variety of machines than other locations I’ve visited. The staff are always friendly and have been very helpful at showing me how to use some of the new machines they have. The atmosphere feels fresh and clean and the gym is organized in a way that makes it feel spread out and never crowded. I never have any issue getting to the machines/equipment I need to use- which is a nice change from other locations. The location is super convenient for my purposes, and the parking lot is easy-on/easy-out.
