No hot water in ladies showers, NONE! I spoke to the front desk and from their reaction they knew this has been a problem. He asked that I check a different shower and come back and advise him. I checked all showers while I was there and no hot/warm water in any shower!
Seems they have known. Why hasnt this been fixed? Very inconvenient!

My wife and I have been members since the Newport location opened. Many members including myself have asked the staff if they would lower the volume on the music. We have been told that the manager wants the loud music. This just started and it is very loud and over bearing. Needs to be toned down!

Another ICE Cold shower. Planet fitness refuses to take action on this matter. None of the showers are even Luke warm… Cold!! This is the ONLY Planet Fitness that has this problem. Cold shower. The manager needs to be put under it, and drenched until fixed!

I have been a member of this gym since 2018 and have never had an issue, until now. Recently, I was charged multiple late fees despite having a backup card on file. My primary card had expired, and I was out of town at the time, which delayed my ability to update the information. However, that’s the very reason I had a backup card listed, to avoid this kind of issue.

When I called to address the charges last week, I was told everything “was fine.” Yet two days later, I was hit with another late fee. When I followed up again, I spoke with an individual named Nathan, who was incredibly unprofessional throughout the conversation. He never apologized, never acknowledged the inconvenience, and showed no interest in resolving the situation. He also didn’t once ask who I had spoken with previously or attempt to get more context. The total charges ended up being nearly $90, including the late fees.

What’s even more frustrating is the fact that having a backup card apparently means nothing, they will still charge a $15 late fee regardless. That completely defeats the purpose of having a backup payment method in place.

After nearly seven years of membership, this experience was beyond disappointing. I will be canceling my membership. Absolutely terrible customer service, and a complete lack of accountability. Read the fine print carefully, because they’re not going to be transparent about how they handle payments and fees.

Pay your hot water bill!! There is only ONE shower that works. The other are cold!! The staff told me 3 years ago to turn it on and leave it…. Gym and restrooms are cleaner than they used to be but as a pale person who just likes a tan a week before summer hits, this location is absolutely awful at setting the tan timers. This is the second of 4 total tans that the timer didn’t end at my requested time. I told the front desk this time and the two dudes just kinda stared at me like I’m dumb. Are they not setting the timers? Are the beds broken? Why offer a timed tan if you can’t actually trust the time? I will be a tomato tomorrow :)

I love coming to this gym! Only thing is I wish the staff would walk around more and make the people who are at the machines just sitting there on their phones move!! I waited 20 minutes for a machine and the same girl literally sat there on her phone. Didn’t even use the machine!

I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness for a short time, but I’m already impressed with my experience. Out of all the Planet Fitness locations in the tri-state, this one’s my favorite. The free weight room is the largest I’ve seen. The changing rooms, showers, and bathrooms are consistently clean. The staff are friendly and helpful. Parking is plentiful. They have a huge range of machines, cables, smith, treadmills, ellipticals. It can get crowded in January and at peak times during weekdays, but it’s easy to work around. The equipment is always in great condition, and the people are pretty friendly.

Update: it’s now been months without proper hot water. The urinals flooded last week and they just left urine all over the locker room floor for DAYS before someone attempted to clean it up. Now today they have no hot water at all. And all the workers have to say is “sorry for the inconvenience, you can go somewhere else”

They’ve closed the men’s locker room for over two months now. They replaced it with portapottys that are never cleaned. They said the locker room would be open 9/28 and it wasn’t. Then was told it would be open 10/30 and it’s still not open. I’ve had to go to the workers and show them pictures of the toilets and half of the time they don’t even do anything about it. The toilets were clogged for 2 days before anyone did anything about it.

One employee was even already in the trailer, saw the mess of toilet paper and paper towels everywhere and did nothing about it.

I’ve asked to speak with the onset multiple time over the course of the month and keep getting told he’s not there and that they don’t know when he’ll be in next.

I’ve asked to see if they would give a discount or something for the men since we don’t even have basic gym necessities and was told no there’s nothing they can do.

I prefer this Planet Fitness over Fort Wright and Oakley. it’s smaller, but it doesn’t feel as crowded as the other locations. Guest and staff are always friendly, gym floors always clean, and never have any real issues with getting equipment or equipment being broken.

This used to be my go-to club but sadly it has gone downhill in all facets over the past couple months.

The men's locker room was scheduled to be closed for repairs beginning 9/11 and done on 9/25. It is 10/23 and they are still not done. The portable restroom trailer they brought in as a substitute was filthy and very small. Not adequate at all. Then, they removed the restroom trailer for port-a-potties! Unbelievable. Not to mention there are no shower options for men now. This is just one in a long line of repairs they have done since the beginning of summer.

Sometimes, they will close machines off in order to do the repairs. For example, one time, they had a row of treadmills blocking off the entire Smith machine/triceps area! It was wild. They aren't open 24/7 anymore (another bummer), so why not do those type of repairs overnight when the gym is closed?

The quality of the staff has declined as well, especially on Saturday and Sunday mornings. They used to be so friendly, now it seems as though the presence of the guests bothers them.

I have begun going to the Oakley location almost exclusively (I'll go to Finneytown every once in a while) but it is sad to see this once awesome club turn into what it is now.

Men’s locker room is still closed. According to the sign it was supposed to be open last month and still isn’t. None of the workers seem to know when it will be open again. The only planet fitness in the tri-state area that has enough dumbbells. You can tell the franchises continue to invest into this location as they have a surplus of workout equipment from the dumbbells, kettlebells, bands. They also carry items I've never seen at any planet fitness locations. Facility is always clean and staff is kind best managed gym in the area.

We enjoy and use almost daily our membership at Planet Fitness. We think that for us it is the best gym for the monthly fee, the amount of gear is substantial, its always in good shape, clean and well maintained. Staff is very welcoming and friendly, always attending the front desk and all the choirs. There is plenty of parking, water fountain works well always. We travel and also enjoy our membership in other locations, however Newport Planet Fitness has been best. Last and no least, all gym members we have interacted with when exercising at Newport have been very polite. For the most part gym members in Newport are very dedicated to workout.
Update: Several months after the aforementioned post, I'm pleased to confirm Planet Fitness at Newport KY remains a great value with 5 stars.

Update: The hours listed on Google have been changed (12/9) but still not correct, however I have discovered the actual hours are listed on the linked website. The gym itself is very clean and the machines are well maintained. The order of them is not quite as coherent as other PF locations I have been to, but they have all the basics. The locker rooms are spacous and clean. Oddly the showers are actually warmer during the day than at night. In a 15 min shower at night it's about 2 mins of hot, 8 mins of warm, and 5 mins of lukewarm. However during the day I got a full 15 mins of pure hot water. The staff is pretty friendly, and the spa area has all working amenities. Not my favorite but far from the worst.

UPDATE: 08/28/2022 This place has upped their game. They are hiring a little bit older staff. Customer service is much better! I am still not happy with the idea that they will not accept a full year's paid membership up front instead of using a credit card. People are afraid of putting that info on file with all of the security breeches in the last two years. If I wasn't already a six year member, I would be hesitant already. I have three friends who I have rotated taking them in occassionally on my membership that would have bought their own membership if they could have paid upfront for a year. I have MS and was unable to use my membership for four and a half years. By law I had to go in and cancel my membership but I also pay for my daughters which I left. But the manager Drew was so caring and so thoughtful and nice and gave me information that there are people in the position that can take care of me and help me if I do come back.
