I truly enjoy and recommend Planet Fitness in Pikeville.They have great selection of equipment for strength training and cardio. The black card is worth investing in especially if you enjoy tanning. The hydro and massage chairs are great post workout. The atmosphere is great. A truly judgemental free zone. 24 hour access is a life saver. If your looking for a new gym or thinking about starting a gym come check them out. Staff are super friendly and courteous.

I am 8 weeks postpartum and tonight I wanted to go to the gym for the first time in 10 months. I walk in and check in to the thing and the guy at the desk told me I was good. Then, he yells at me from across the room that the picture doesn’t match and he won’t let me workout. I ask if I can use a day pass and he was very snarky and didn’t want to help me. He goes to the tanning bed because it was broken and I check in on the Ipad and it says all good so I go try to work out again. He yells at me across the room AGAIN that I need to come back and scan in again. So I do and make sure I’m all good before I go workout. I went to the water fountain after a couple minutes and it’s broken. The same guy goes “It doesn’t work.” Well obviously. So I ask if I can get a water bottle. He pretty much rolls his eyes at me as if it’s such an inconvenience that I would like a drink of water and tells me to go to the desk. The girl at the desk goes “LAST NAME” so I tell her and I guess she didn’t find me in the system so she tells
me I need a card or tap to pay. Since it’s their fault that the water fountain is broken at a gym where people are going to be getting sweaty, I wasn’t expecting to pay the dollar and whatever just so I can have a drink. Long story short, I felt like so much of an inconvenience for just trying to workout after having a baby. I already had to hype myself up so much before going because I’m so self conscious right now and the way I was treated literally brought me to tears. I left with tears running down my face and not so much as a “have a good night” from any of the workers there. If you have body image issues and want to be treated kindly, DO NOT come to this planet fitness. The guys name was Lucas and I don’t remember the girls name.

Nice club and I've been to more than a few. Manager Zach is respectful and very nice. The water could be hotter but they have good water pressure. The extra changing rooms are nice. This gym was recommended to me and since it isn’t much farther than my reg pf, I decided to give it a try. It was closed, I was not even aware there were any non 24/7 locations. Cost effective place to work out. Only sometimes crowded. The lack of certain equipment, particularly traditional Bench press costs them a star from me. The mind bogglingly hypocritical "judgement free zone" advertising combined with insulting people that push themselves at the gym by calling them "lunks" and occasionally literally setting off an alarm in attempt to shame those working out the hardest costs them another. Personally I find the alarm amusing though as every time I set it off it has the opposite effect and makes me proud ;)

This is the cleanest gym I have ever been to. I always see at least two or three of the employees cleaning at all times. The bathrooms and locker rooms always smell fresh and there is no stinky sweat smell like I have experienced at other gyms. There are lots of options in the free weight area, and a large variety of weight and cardio machines. Great value for 10 bucks a month!

I didn’t give just 1 star bc I usually like the staff here but tonight when I went to workout tonight I felt like the people on duty were really rude. First of all I used to work here so I know you’re supposed to greet everyone as they walk in. Well when I walked in, the employees were too wrapped up in their own conversation to greet me. I didn’t take it personal because I truly don’t really care, but when I was finished with my workout and walking over to check in for the other amenities (tanning, massage, etc.) I stood there for a second looking at the trainers back (because she wasn’t turning around to help me), so I waited a couple minutes and then I scanned myself in because I thought maybe they didn’t realize I was there. That didn’t work either she continued her conversation (with a different employee) while I stood there and waited when she knew I was there bc like I said I scanned myself in and it beeped. So another minute or so goes by and she finally turns around to help me with what I needed and at that point I just left because she had really gotten on my nerves ignoring me. I’ve never had an experience like this there and I honestly hope she’s not there again when I go. I can’t stand rude people.

I thought having aembership would be great, and affordable with the amazing low price PF flaunts. However even after taking my time to read through the agreement I was still surprised by hidden fees, spontaneous direct debits off my back account and outrageous monthly and annual fees you pay monthly??? It's crazy I have to edit this and take it from 5 stars to 1 ( 0 if I could) This isn't about the location, everything was great there. But I was paying I think $26 a month and it was a waste because I work to much and wasn't able to go. I told the girl at the desk I wanted to cancel and she said ok no problem and took my name. 3 months later and I saw they are trying to still take money out of my bank account. Thankfully I always keep my card locked so nothing can be taken without me allowing it. So I go back on the app, this has been maybe 6 months or so and it says I owe something north of $250 dollars lol. So now i must always keep my card locked because they keep trying daily to take money out of my account. I have called, went on the website and app. I was finally able to cancel the membership myself but stuck owing money. I am going to call corporate and have a few choice words with them I'd this doesn't get taken off...

I am writing to express my concerns regarding the lack of new equipment and the recurring issues with existing machines at [Planet Fitness ,40391]. As a dedicated member of the gym community, I have noticed that the equipment has remained largely unchanged since the facility opened.

As a member who values their fitness journey and the quality of the gym experience, I believe it is essential for [Planet Fitness ] to prioritize the investment in new equipment and the timely maintenance of existing machines. Doing so will not only enhance the overall experience for members but also demonstrate a commitment to providing a safe and efficient workout environment.

I urge you to consider these concerns seriously and take proactive steps to address the longstanding issues with the gym equipment. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this matter further and collaborate on finding solutions that benefit all members of the gym community.

Beware when cancelling your membership. Instead of cancelling permanently they just put you on a 6 month vacation hold and then resume charging you monthly plus the annual charge. Don't leave until you get documentation that says Cancelled and not Frozen. Other than that they keep the gym and the locker rooms very clean and it's a nice place. I gave 3 stars due to their shady cancellation practices.

I joined several years ago and then quit. Im back because the years keep coming and i think its best to try my best to stay healthy and strong. The gym hasn't changes that i can tell. It is a nice , clean and comfortable place to burn some calories and build some muscle. Im glad i came back.

Went to this location tonight to tan, use the hydrobed, shower etc. I brought along a device that required charging that takes longer to charge than a cell phone. So I plug it in in the ladies locker room. I'm waiting and doing other things there so it's not left unattended. I put my other belongings in 2 lockers.
I'm noticing the female attendant is coming inside the locker room numerous times while I'm in there like she's watching me. I just ignored it but she was obvious.
Finally she says to me, I need to finish up because I have been here for over 2 hours without using the facility and she's asking me to leave because its considered loitering!!! I seriously doubt I had been there for 2 hours and she's unaware of what all I was doing inside the locker room. This area has toilets, sinks, shower facilities etc. Is it necessary for me to give her a itinerary of my use of the facilities there? I am also there to tan, use the hydrobeds, shower etc. It may have taken an hour for me to condition my hair, shave my legs, etc. I wasn't aware that I had to have your permission to spend some time there using the ladies locker room. I consider her behavior to be harassing communication.
First off I pay around $27 a month membership at Planet Fitness, I'm not a person off the street coming inside and just hanging out and i want to know where in my contract does it say I have a time limit inside the gym where I'm a black card member? She says it's in my contract. I will look into that. Kys definition of loitering is being in a public place without a specific reason or purpose for being there.
I told her as I was leaving that I would be contacting management in regards to her behavior tonight.
Needless to say I won't be visiting this location again. I'm also going to contact corporate in regards to this rude behavior.
I spoke with the manager the next day in regards to the young ladies' behavior. I didn't know her name but when I described her he knew who I was referring to. He said that there have been multiple complaints on her. He apologized for her behavior and said he would take care of the situation. I've not been back to this location and have joined other gyms closer to my home and probably won't be going there again.

Super clean and the equipment is really nice!
I've always heard that a lot of PF locations maybe aren't always very well-kept since they are known for being more of a budget gym.
However, I was blown away by this Winchester KY location.

First of all, the staff are really nice and happy to assist if you have questions. There always seems to be enough staff too so they can maintain the gym while still keeping track of the front desk.

I signed up at home online and while I really don't like that they force you to link up your bank account to pay the monthly fee, I do kinda understand why. Apparently you can go into the gym to cancle your membership in-person which is better than some gyms that only allow cancelations via a letter MAILED to them. :D PF does not accept cancelations online though, which is obviously a tactic to prevent people from canceling on a whim. Still, it's fine I suppose.

The actual gym location is bright and clean and the giant fans are amazing. Most gym-goers do actually spray down their equipment when they're done and I've never walked up and found a gross machine. The staff members actually also regularly wipe down the machines as well. I've seen them vacuuming, dusting, and even dusting the fans on the ceiling. They're cleaning something every time I go. They refill the sanitizer spray bottles and paper towels regularly and the cleaning stations are everywhere so you don't have to wander around to find one. Even the hand sanitizer is regularly refilled. The trash cans are never overflowing and gross. The gym doesn't even smell like a gym! Granted, it's not the middle of summer but I haven't yet walked in and found the gym stinky and hot yet which is awesome.

As far as equipment goes, I think most people would be happy. You can take a virtual tour online if you want.

I didn't pay for the fancy membership, but they do have the tanning rooms, hydromassage beds, etc. And they all looked very clean.

Everyone I've seen at the gym so far has been very polite. All sorts of people are there and they all seem to feel comfortable working out.

I’ll first say the facility is as clean as it gets!
The staff, need some help!
My wife and I visited the facility & canceled our membership. Right after we decided to become members several months ago, my wife became very ill. The result was a failing liver. She’s not been able to visit due to extreme fatigue and pain. I work 60+ hours a week and spend my very limited extra time helping around our home and taking care of our children… Therefore, neither of us had set foot back in Planet Fitness since starting the paid monthly membership. Sure, we should have canceled sooner but that’s not where I’m going with this…
I explained to Zack our unfortunate situation and that we just needed to cancel our membership that we’ve been paying for the last several months. The response from Zack as we’re going thru the cancellation FLOORED ME! He says, “We RELY on people like you to pay the bills”! Really Zack? You rely on the fact that my wife COULD DIE and that we maintain a paid membership that we’re unable to use to pay YOUR bills? How about “very sorry to hear that?” or “Maybe we can help with some less stressful workouts that can help your wife?” or just not say anything at all?
Maybe he was just trying to make light of the reason we were there or maybe he’s just the douche he portrayed to be?

Place is really big inside, pretty and clean. They would have more members if they didn't have so many rules. I ended up signing up with a gym closer to me that costs over twice as much. I'm over weight and needed a gym. This one was much further away and after a visit I was told about some of their policies. One of them being appropriate clothing and footwear. I noticed their sign that stated they didn't allow boots or sandals/open toed shoes. Not a big deal right? Well I was told I can't wear my crocs that provide extra support for my feet. They help with my planter fasciitis and I even offered to get a Dr's note but apparently there are no exceptions. Oh but there is more. They allow hiking boots. But specifically don't allow boots. Makes sense right? Someone could make the argument they "might" fall off my feet. Well I am there specifically to life weights, not run on a treadmill. 0 exceptions and wouldn't even ask anyone else if I provided a Dr note. I wrote on their website and waited a couple days and didn't hear back. I had signed up with another gym and after a few more days I actually got a call back from someone letting me know I could wear my crocs to the gym. Well you being unwilling to work with me at all when you make other exceptions got you this review. I'm not going to specifically throw anyone under the bus but something more could have been done to help me and you would have had another customer and a better review. Just sharing my experience. This doesn't mean it's a bad gym, I just thought there could have been more consideration.

I have been to many Planet Fitness gyms across the U.S and I must start with good ol’ Winchester, Ky!! The young staff in this gym stayed cleaning and dusting. Normally, I’ll walk into the men’s locker room of a PF and it’s kinda smelly and there are mini pieces of paper located on the floor throughout. But this PF here, super clean and odorless. They were mopping and dusting every 30mins or so. 😂 I mean there really were. I love it! The bathroom, showers, and changing rooms were super clean as well! Take pride in the product and it will be serve for ages to come. Overall, Super clean gym and the staff is super friendly. I enjoyed my visit. I’ll be back soon.
