Joining Popp’s Personal Fitness has been life changing for me. Not only am I getting stronger, TJ Popp works with me to eat better, explaining what to eat, why and where to find these clean choices. I’ve avoided exercising until walking into this gym. T J motivates but also gives me the self confidence to do a set without having my hands held while observing the posture is correct to avoid injury. Small enough to be personal and big enough to get the job done.

Popp's Personal Fitness is a terrific place for personal training. TJ gives you a starting evaluation workout and then builds your plan based on that. I chose the 2 day a week plan, and I have seen a significant difference in my strength. You have monthly evaluations to track progress, so it’s great to monitor how much body fat you’re losing and muscle you’re gaining. Both trainers push you every single workout, and I can truly say this place has improved my health. I highly recommend Popp’s Personal Fitness.

I'm back! I've worked out pretty much my whole life, and have been through a few knee surgeries because of sports and did not think I was able to do squats, and lunges again… Not only am I doing squats, and lunges and deadlifts I feel better than I have felt in years! I am 57 years old, and I feel better now then I felt since in my early 20's. TJ is always teaching and nutrition is a game changer. If you want it ALL and the feel of a smaller gym and get that individual attention you need. This is your place.!

TJ has been my personal trainer for a couple years and I have been very thankful for all the help he’s given me and the results I have achieved through working with him. I have gained so much more muscle working with TJ than when I did working out by myself before I met him. I have also had many conversations with TJ about what I can be doing daily to help improve my health, such as paying more attention to specific ingredients that are not good to be consuming. I started looking for a personal trainers a year and a half ago when I was 57. I was a member at Planet Fitness but was still not seeing the results I wanted. After doing some research and talking with other personal trainers I decided on Popps Personal Fitness. I liked the fact that it was a smaller gym and TJ, the owner was very knowledgeable and receptive to what I wanted to accomplish. TJ put me thru an assessment and devised a workout routine to fit my goals. I am the type that needs a structured program with a set time to workout and be held accountable. Now I workout at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursdays. I did not do this as a member of Planet Fitness. I would start skipping and making excuses not to go. I’ll be honest sometimes TJ puts me thru some tough workouts but I always feel great afterwards. I am stronger and better conditioned than when I started. He is always very encouraging and supportive.
Another great thing about Popps is it is never crowded, no one will judge you and there is a variety of age groups from 15- 74. I definitely recommend Popps Personal Fitness.

I have now been with TJ for over 6 years and have never felt better! I have had all the ups and downs of losing weight then gaining it back. TJ has stuck with me and never let me get down on myself. At 62 one of my goals was to maintain muscle and keep my bone density. As stated in my previous review the workouts can be challenging but TJ will be with you every step of the way.
Last January I decided I needed to really concentrate on getting my weight down and took all the information that TJ has given me over the years and make it fit into my lifestyle. I know last December I weighed around 224lbs.
When I officially started I was at 220. As of today I weighed in at 180 lbs. We are now working on getting rid of the last bit of fat. The before and after pics are below.

I reached out to TJ 8 years ago because I was tired of feeling and looking like I did. I was a collegiate athlete that let life get the best of me. I thought small/personal gyms were going to be too expensive and I was intimidated by bigger gyms which deterred me from working out. I gave Popp's a try and knew it was the perfect fit for me both financially and mentally. TJ makes you feel comfortable but pushes you at the same time! He challenges you even when you want to give up but does it in a way you don't hate being there. Not only does he get you physically in shape but he provides nutritional guidance. I have SO enjoyed working with TJ. I was looking to mix up my workouts and gave Popp’s a try at the recommendation of a friend. I was intimidated a first, but pleasantly surprised that the most intimidating part of bootcamp was the name! I always feel like TJ gives me a good mix of challenge and support- meets me where I am while helping get closer to where I want to be. I have my absolute best workouts during bootcamp and get to take what I learn with me as I workout solo. He takes me seriously when I have pain or soreness and gives tons of helpful tips to take care of myself. I can’t recommend TJ enough.

TJ has transformed my outlook on fitness and even mental health and nutrition. He has made the gym extremely enjoyable and a safe space for me. I was always intimidated by gyms and lifting weights but he eliminated my fears completely! He has taught me so much during my time at Popps Personal Fitness, I was able to build strength and lose over 25lbs. He continues to help me plan exercises I can do outside of his gym and he continues to coach me on my nutrition. TJ pushes me just enough so I feel successful and never discouraged. I honestly wouldn't be where I am today without his help and I can't say enough great things about his gym and him as a trainer and overall person. I am always inviting friends and family to Popp's Personal Fitness because I have never been anywhere else that has made feel as welcomed, safe, and energized. And what I love the most about Popp's is if the Personal training packages are too much financially for someone, he offers bootcamps at a way lower costs and you still get a great workout and strength training as well as the tips and tricks for proper eating and gut health. I've done both and I love all of the options he offers. When I started at TJ's gym I was brand new to everything however, he helped me jump start my Fitness journey and he continues to support me every step of the way. I don't think I would have stuck to all this without his encouragement, accountability and guidance. Thank you TJ for everything you do. I've been a client of TJ's since 2020. Since then, I have not only been able to drop 35 lbs, but have been able to build visible muscle which is a feat I've never experienced before in my life! I've worked with other personal trainers in the past without making much progress. There are a multitude of reasons that make TJ different from the others. For starters, he takes the time to build a program suited for you, your goals and even your limitations, really getting to know you in the process. I have significant deformities in my hands and wrists from rheumatoid arthritis (RA) that make working with weights sometimes challenging. Using grips/hooks help with most exercises but if those don't help, TJ knows how to modify things to ensure I am able to target my muscles with exercises I CAN do. He's extremely knowledgeable about the human body. He's helped me recover from surgeries far better than any physical therapist has (and over the years I’ve worked with about a dozen or more). When I have an ache or pain in any part of my body (that's not RA related) he shows me what stretches or foam roller techniques I can do to help alleviate it and it has always worked! Another great & unique thing about TJ is that he's also extremely knowledgeable about nutrition, gut health, and holistic living. Diet is key with losing weight and he'll help you calculate your macros to guarantee success in weight loss and will even work with you in helping identify healthy food choices if you need help at that level (I have not needed this but have seen him doing this with other clients). Because I have a chronic autoimmune disease, I have to take my diet even more seriously and focus on anti-inflammatory foods, maintaining good gut health and follow a lifestyle that avoids additional triggers to my disease, topics most people aren't familiar with. It has taken me a lot of time and research to learn what I know and I've been pleasantly surprised that TJ himself knows a ton about the subject and has even taught me many things. That's another thing different with him, he actually spends a considerable amount of time keeping abreast of current information on health and fitness and will send his clients articles and videos on topics that may be helpful to them specifically. Another great thing about TJ that has been different from others I’ve worked with is that he’s super organized & keeps detailed records of his clients personal training. He puts you through different phases which you eventually cycle through again and it’s always good to find out how much more weight you are able to lift compared to the last time you did that particular phase, which is also proof that his training works! And lastly, TJ is just overall a good person and very likable. He has a great attitude, is pleasant to work with and makes you feel like he's on your team, there to help you succeed. Bottom line: personal training is an investment in your health and I've gained so much over the past three years working with TJ that I consider him worth every penny paid and then some. I’ve learned a lot about strength training from him in the process and am now comfortable routinely working out on my own at Planet Fitness. Even so, I’ll never stop my training with TJ for the simple reason that his workouts are what built the body I have. And more importantly, continuing to work with him not only helps ensure I keep the gains I’ve made but having him continually build my program, helps ensure that I continue to gain strength and improve. As long as he's in business, I plan to be a client!

TJ has helped me find the right balance in exercise, nutrition, sleep and stress management. We talk about all of it and he has helped me find vetted sources for knowledge of each! During my workouts, TJ has taken the time to get to know me well enough to discern when I need to be pushed and when I need to be celebrated. TJ Popp has changed my life. When I first started out back in the beginning of 2022 I was a cardio freak and just getting into weightlifting. My pull-up and push-up game was weak. Now I can do multiple weighted pull-ups and was even able to bench press 225 lb. He has taught me everything there is to know about nutrition and weight lifting etiquette.
As long as you do your part, he will guide you the rest of the way. Very straightforward and motivational man. I could not ask for a better trainer.

Finding TJ was an answer to my prayers! He is the owner and trainer and is very good at what he does. He provided weight training with me for 8 months, and I am very grateful to him for his help and for what I learned, and overcame, while working with him. He is knowledgeable about health in activity, nutrition, and psychology. He truly cares about each client and goes above and beyond to help with whatever your needs are. He takes the time to get to know you and builds a good rapport. He's diligent in teaching proper technique to avoid injury, will help with nutrition information, shares importance of and helps with stretching and rolling the muscles, and has even been known to create challenges between clients to increase motivation. My personal goal was general: all around fitness, strength, and well-being. I can attest to the fact I got everything I was looking for at this place.
T J listened and zoned in on what I was after. He gets me where I want to go with a personalized plan. He has my “personal sheet”
ready with a specific routine to accomplish when I arrive. My workout changes every 4 weeks to my body’s benefit and to my mind’s focus by keeping it fresh and challenging. I am amazed at the progress in only 8 weeks.
Along with the work out, I get tips on nutrition, supplements, life habits and always a good time! The atmosphere is always positive.

I started going to Popp’s a couple of months ago and I am so glad I found it! I’ve been to several bootcamp gyms and feel like Popp’s has one of the most inviting atmospheres out there. TJ is welcoming and has helped me with modifications since I’m trying to get back into shape after having my son. He throws in nutrition advice and the science behind the workouts often, which I enjoy and find helpful. The price is also great and I appreciate not having a monthly contract like some other gyms. There isn’t anything else like this gym in the area and I highly recommend it.
