Played Sunday, course was in great shape! Greens are awesome! everyone else in the city it seems lost their greens this summer but not Quail. Also, thanks for taking three weeks this summer and resprigging the fairways as they are now back and really nice!! Great place to play. I also love seeing all the wildlife.

Course was beautiful and staff was kind and professional. I cannot speak for the entire course as I only played 9 holes. I came in with low expectations per the previous reviews I read. They must have made some recent improvements because I was blown away by the quality of the greens and fairways. They have really put a lot of effort into maintaining the course. For reference I played the west 9. There is also an east and south 9. If I had to make one complaint, it would be the bunkers so just play better golf and stay out of them! Thanks for the good golf experience!

Woo was this course rough . 1st the price, for two people was $80 (which is the same price as βMy old Kentucky home golf courseβ) . Reasonable amount to pay for 18 would really be $25-$30 a person . 2nd The fairways β¦ the middle of the fairway was half of a club face . The greens were amazing though . The fairways just need a lot of work and you canβt even drive on half of them . The ones you can drive on are terrible too . 3rd The bunkers β¦ I luckily avoided them but holy, is this a sand trap or a mud pile ? Truthfully I would rate the course 4.5/10 . I had fun though but golf is always fun 7/10 on that scale . Penn run is 5 minutes away and Iβd rather play there any day of the week .

Rip off. Four holes turned into par threes. ( front desk told me two- and this gave me $2 off)
Make shift par three tee boxes seen in pictures.
Should be 50-75% off. Avoid

This is by far the worst golf course I've ever played... Do not waste your money 90% of fairways closed off. Improvised par 3's. Terrible

As others have shared, this course is in abysmal condition. Several holes are shut down, tees placed 100 yards from the hole, and the first cut hasnβt been cut so it is ankle high. They donβt tell you about the course conditions until after youβve paid and wonβt refund your money, they claim they are only this way for the week but grass canβt grow that fast.

Payed 32 for 9 and then was told a few holes were turned into par 3s due to fairway condition. 7/9 holes were turned into par 3s, tee boxes were in muddy rough. Cart even broke down in middle of the course. Rip off.

Worst round of golf I have ever played. Played the south course and there were 6 mud fairways that are turned into 80 yard par 3s. On hole 5, our golf cart broke down and we had the club pro come push the cart back to the clubhouse. Absolutely unbelievable, just wanted to let yall know to not pay to play this mud field.

Every course has multiple holes turned into par 3s. Was told this in the clubhouse but not told that these holes have all their tee boxes in the rough. Upon reaching number 4 and seeing the condition of the course I called the clubhouse and asked for a refund or raincheck. Was told they are not doing those at this time. I played 3 holes walking for $20 on an incredibly unkempt golf course. I was on the south course. The other courses may be in better shape.

Do not play this course. 8 of the 18 fairways were closed and they turned all of those holes into par 3βs, 2 of which are normally Par 5βs. They did all of this while still charging a full $46, and then not telling us about the course condition until AFTER swiping our credit cards. This is the worst golf course condition I have ever seen, and how theyβre handling it is even worse. Forcing you to play 14 Par 3βs out of 18 holes, and paying full price for it. Not to mention the βtee boxesβ that they created to make these Par 3βs had taller grass than the actual rough on the hole. DO NOT GO HERE.

Played early Sunday 7/27 morning and the fairways on four of the West and five of the East courses were under repair and unplayable. Most of the par 4 and 5 holes were made into very short par 3 holes. Greens are not too bad, but a little slow. The regular and temporary tee boxes all need cutting. Disappointed that there was no notification on their website. Green fees were discounted by about $2. It was a disappointing round.

Full price for a par three course. 11 fairways shut down which takes away several par 4s and 5s and turns them into 60 yard par 3s. On top of that, they donβt tell you they are having course issues until after you pay and refuse to give refunds. They should be shut down until they fix the fairways.

Edit: What happened? They spent a couple years getting the place in top shape only to let 1/3 of the fairways die? I donβt get it. Plus some of the best fairways were covered in thick grass clippings. Never seen that on a course. Lastly, the rough was US Open thick and tall. Not only did it make shots really difficult, it made finding balls hard. Some of the holes were awesome and all of the greens were in good shape. 7/23/2024
(Old review) We played the east course and it was in fantastic shape. We have not had a rain in a month but the fairways and greens were some of the best we have played this year. Itβs been a long time since this course has been in this good of shape. It makes me happy they have brought it back from where it was.

Course is in the worst condition I have ever seen it. Fairway is basically entirely craters, rough is 6-7 inches and full of clover flowers, so if youβre using a white ball, good luck finding it.
It wouldnβt be so bad if they werenβt still charging people $50, basically the price back when the course was privately owned and one of the most well maintained in the area.
If you are reading this seriously consider going elsewhere. The crossings and penn run are in better condition for half of the price, and Iβm not exaggerating.
Until they either lower the price or fix the course and maintain it, I will not be returning.
Such a shame for what used to be my favorite course in Louisville.

It's ashame how bad this course has gotten. There is not one good thing I can say other than the layout could be nice if all the weeds and clover were removed and the greens, fairways and tee boxes had someone who knew what they were doing to bring them back to playable condition.

Positive greens in good shape.
Negative fair ways are in awful condition. booking tee times 10 minutes apart should not be allowed, left after 13 holes as we were, that took 4 hours to play just 13. waiting 10-15 minutes every hole to tee off. 3 to 4 groups on every hole, this is 100 % on them for over booking. I'll probably never go back here.

Place is in good shape for the volume of people that play it. Was surprised how many people were out there on a Tuesday early morning . Obviously it attracts a lot of golfers. Early or late weekday is the time to go . Weekends here are probably brutal pace of play. Scenery is beautiful though and east course was a lot easier than the south . Will play again .

Pace of play at this course is the worst I have seen. I started my round as a solo at 11:00 and finished after 5. Playing through was not an option as the course was packed at every tee box, fairway, and green. I had to club down at almost every tee box just so I could hit a ball (still hit every 8-10 minutes), and would layup for the same reason.
The course layout was fine but the conditions of the course is not worth the 40$ I paid. They also charged me 18$ for a single ride along.
I had a similar experience last time, but gave it another chance, itβs safe to say donβt golf here on a weekend unless you have 6 hours (solo) or more (group of 2-4)

Quite possibly the WORST course I have played in the 50 states. I have abandoned courses (13 years) in my state with nicer bunkers still than what we played. I missed the most recent reviews warning us about this but I hope you wonβt miss mine. As a previous review said, there are much nicer goat pastures. If youβre reading this and part of the maintenance staff, if you have any self respect, please put some effort into this course and rake the bunkers. Much nicer around for the price, especially considering you have to pay an online fee to book. Go play Bardstown CC instead.

If you have the mental fortitude to make it through the 27 minute check in line, you are rewarded with the sight of 8 carts waiting on every tee box. If you have a single ounce of self respect, go find a literal goat pasture to play golf in instead of this place. Charging $46 for this place is disrespectful at best.

We played west and the east.
Pros- great layout. Pro shop guys were nice. Greens acceptable for a muni. Price.
Cons- pace of play slow. Fairways spotty. Bunkerβs atrocious and some were unplayable. Rough high cause no one has cut it and itβs all clover.
Played here and Iroquois while in town. Iroquois much better condition but quail hole layout better.

Was there for a 24 man golf trip. This course was day 1 of 3 days. Trip organizer walked in and said we are the 12:00 group with 24β¦and we got the deer in headlight stare. Organizer called and confirmed weeks ago because we also found out that they lost 9 holes so itβs only an 18 hole track. Somehow they didnβt have us on the tee sheet so we really boogered up the day for everyone else because they tried to make room for us. They also didnβt have range balls for us as promisedβ¦or for purchase because they had all been hit and nobody has picked the range yet.
Less than ideal way to start a golf trip. Course was rough around the edges too, Iβd advise going elsewhere

I called and explained to Randy that I play in a league there on Wednesdayβs and this morning was the only time my partner and I could make our schedules sync so that we could make up the round we missed this past weekβ¦ which was the West. I had a tee time for 9:40am but my sonβs baseball game got moved up in time so there was no way I could get in 18 holes if we teeβd off that late. He proceeded to tell me that he already told the lady who ran our league that if anyone had to make up the West, then theyβd have to play 18 holes. I acknowledged receiving this info from our league captain, and asked what time we could tee off on the West by this morning to get well ahead of the two groups that had already teeβd off on the South BEFORE they made the turnβ¦ this was at 7:17am - he said weβd HAVE to be there by 7:30am because the two groups that had already teeβd off could play 18 holes in 2:15!!! This made me feel like I was lied to and the tone in which he spoke to me came across as very rude, like I was inconveniencing him by even questioning his logic for not letting us play only the West to make up our round before next Wednesday.

Oh my, how things have changed. Quail Chase used to be one of the best courses in Louisville, KY. The course has taken a complete noise dive and has become a huge disappointment. The fairways are littered with crabgrass, the rough is so high and filled with crabgrass. Making it extremely difficult to find your ball. You would have to almost step on it to find it. The greens are on the slow side and they have a lot of spots in them which makes the bounce and tumble. Even before the city purchased the course, it was sliding down hill. The city just gave it a faster push. At $36, there are better options at a slightly higher price. The course might be good for players who are new to the game. But if you're a seasoned golfer, the course condition will be a huge disappointment and your game will reflect that. Good luck!

Iβm giving it 2 stars because the greens were still decent. $37 is an outrageous price for a course that is in disrepair.

Played 06/19 at 9:30AM with cart $37. 1st time at QC in 15 years, its changed but so has every other public course now owned by the Metro. Very friendly staff, played East/South 9's. Greens were in very good shape and fast. Tee boxes in great shape, we played the Black tee's. Fairways are still growing and expanding. Rough was tough. NO sand in the traps but like every other course in Louisville. Great round of golf, no complaints. Pace of play was great with no issues. Hot day, no hassles, no issues.

Revised 6/17/20.
Conditions have not improved much as fairways are still in bad shape but the greens were in better shape than last time. But more importantly, the city's coronavirus protocols are not being followed during this visit. Instead of single rider per cart, the course has attached a sheet of plastic in the center of the cart and is now forcing two riders per cart. Even more disturbing is that when I turned in the cart after the round, the attendant hosed the grass out of the bottom of the cart and then pulled the cart back to the clubhouse for the next set of riders. No cleaning, no sanitation, nothing! The course reached out to me after sending an email to them and assured me that this was a mistake and not the normal policy of the course. He assured me that employees would be advised and trained again to follow proper procedures going forward.
Revised 9/9. Although the conditions are the same, I had stopped playing at Quail Chase due to the way the rounds were being assigned. I decided to try them again to see if it was better. You go off fine and at a normal pace but as you finish the first nine, you find 3 new groups backed up on the back nine. The clubhouse claims that they did not assign any new starts on that side but if that was the case, they need to pay closer attention to where people are starting or have a marshal. I have never seen a marshal since the city took over and it shows! 2 hours to play the front and over 3 hours to play the back should prove to be a problem.
I have played this course for several years and have always been pleased. Now that the city has taken control of the course, its condition has went down a small amount. The staff is nothing but terrific. You could not ask for any better service. The only complaint would have to be the price, which is higher than similar courses. And the metro city golf pass does not allow you to utilize it on weekends, only weekdays. If the city is not careful, the course will go from being one of the premier courses in Louisville to just another course with higher prices.

I had to share a cart with another guy that came in before I did. I found this out when he came out and said he had to ride with me. I went in and told the people that I didnβt want to share a cart with somebody else. He said βthatβs not how it works here... 2 people per cart... thereβs plastic in the middle for covidβ My friends I met there were already waiting at the tee and I had no time to play anywhere else, so I just shared, sweaty plastic sticking to my arm the whole way seperating me and my appointed golfing partner

Course was in rough shape. 1st 3 holes on south side were not cut. I have seen it in much better shape. Played south and west. It's a shame to see this place go down hill, could be so much more than it is!!

I would give it a zero if I could. I took my sons today. It used to be one of my favorite courses in town. Not anymore. The fairways are terrible and greens arent much better. Ever since the city took it over it has gone down hill fast. Will not be going back. O and they almost doubled the cost. Save your money

If you are looking to play off dirt and pay a premium this is the place. No, it is not because of the grass in winter but also spring 2 months of summer and the fall. They have not had tee box yardage markers out in years. This would be ok, I guess, if it wasn't so expensive even in the winter when most shots are hit off the dirt. Don't get me started on the sand, I think when city govmt took over they started getting their hands in the money and quit making it nicer.

Course and layout is fine. Problem here is itβs difficult to play regularly. Always scrambles going on to prevent open play. The pro shop seems reluctant to let open play for a variety of reasons. Today it was a frost delay of βat least 2 hours.β Drove to Penn Run. Got right on. Even shady greens were just wet. No frost!! Guy there said it was too warm for frost as a problem. Yet once again, Quail Chase came up with a reason we couldnβt play.

Very disappointed. Played a couple of rounds last season, and felt like course conditons were sub par. Decided to give it try again this season. Awful, fairways terrible, tee boxes not good. I realize we have had a lot of rain, but this was unacceptable. Not worth $41. Won't be back.

This is our home course, play here every week. Very friendly staff, the pro shop is stocked to get you through your round with anything you need. The snack bar and restrooms are very clean. Driving range is great to warm up on, and the two practice greens are great. The course is fun and challenging to play.

Course is great. It's $9.00 more than Seneca and easily $9.00 better. I only make this comparison because Seneca has a better rating when Quail Chase is always in Significantly better condition with better service(clubhouse will send drinks out to you, give you ice, etc), better carts, better range, all together better experience. I never have to second guess myself when someone offers quail chase as the venue.

Have played this course on and off for about five years now. Lots of well designed, challenging golf holes and the scenery is very nice. But their still trying to sell "country club experience" and it's just not that... It's not worth the $50/round they charge for peak rates. Go play heritage hill or chariot run instead. You'll be happy you did.

My friends and I played here several times this year. The course is in excellent shape -- fairways are perfect and greens rolling fast and true. Quail has 3 different 9's, so everytime you play, it feels a little different, and that makes it a great place for a "home" course. Staff were friendly and helpful; clubhouse with bar, good food, and big screen tv's. Plus, they're open seven days. Recommend it for golfers at any skill level..

I can't understand how anyone gave this place anything but 5 stars I've played everywhere around Louisville and this is leaps and bounds the best course you can find unless you a members only club, and it's nicer then some of those. It's manicured, multiple tees to play from kart paths are mostly hidden from sight. The scenic view of the place I thought was amazing. They are super nice and helpful in the club house. I felt warm and welcomed the whole time. Just set a tee time you won't be disappointed!
