Overpriced and nasty, If you’re gonna make people pay almost $40 a month at least have paper towels so people can dry their hands and a semi clean bathroom that doesn’t stink. Also a place to get some water would be nice. Other than that the gym is legit, several retro machines and a decent free weight section.

I’ve been attending a new gym in Richmond, and my experience has been quite positive. When I first moved to the area, I visited the facility but was initially put off by the sanitation standards. However, after learning about the new ownership, I decided to give it another chance and signed up. I’m very pleased with the decision. The gym has undergone noticeable improvements, including updated equipment and a much cleaner environment. The addition of a sauna has been a fantastic upgrade, and I’m looking forward to seeing further enhancements. Overall, I’d recommend this gym to anyone seeking a solid workout space.

Someone please tell me why I’m getting a billing statement in mail after my 6 month contract expired on 01 March 2023, and I haven’t visited since. Someone needs to fix it. I’m not available to come in and sign any paperwork, I have more important things to take care of.

My new favorite gym in Richmond. I attended another “powerlifting” gym for a while where things were happening that I didn’t agree with and everyone talked about each other, etc.
this gym has the family feel and everyone has been so nice to me. It’s always so clean and the staff are so friendly. Also so convenient to be able to get a shake after your lift.

Wanted to get a gym membership here, but after talking to a friend that informed me that the owner called her a "Dyke" I will take my business elsewhere. He thought that he was being sneaky about it. But it was heard loud and clear. I prefer a gym that has all walks of life and cares for each person as an individual and no other reason besides that.

This place is my new home Gym. My brother and i have been members for about a year. Absolutely Love the owners . They have Tons of free weights for powerlifting, and a strong room which has 3 dealift platforms, a comp bench, a regular bench, a mono dealift machine, and a regular dealift rack, And evry menber is welcome and has full access to everything. And this is just the start. You have to check out the main floor with absolutely a plethora of machines, dumbells and yes, more free weights. Proud to call the RAC. MY HOME

I used to LOVE the RAC but unfortunately can’t recommend it anymore. My husband started going while I was on active military leave and said he couldn’t recommend it enough. When I came home, I signed up to join and started going 3-5 times a week. I love that it is 24/7. The atmosphere is really calm and easy going, and I always felt like it was well maintained and clean. A few months into my gym contract I found out I was pregnant. I am now at the point where I am 8 months pregnant and can not weight-lift or even walk on the treadmill. My husband tried to cancel my contract for me but they said that I had to come in person with a doctor’s note. My contract goes until April and I will not be cleared to work out until at least June. I didn’t particularly want to pay $30+ for the next 5 months when I am set to give birth. Two weeks ago, I came in with a note signed from my Dr that says I am pregnant, on light duty, and due early February (5 weeks from now). Keep in mind that my Dr’s office charges me $20 for every note or form they have to write on my behalf. I was ready to bite the bullet and spend $50 to cancel, even though in my opinion that is something entirely out of my control unlike just choosing to stop coming. I even planned on signing back up when I got cleared to lift weights again next summer. When I got there they wouldn’t accept my note because it didn’t specifically have the words “can’t work out for 30 days”. At this point I have a very large belly and I had a note from my doctor proving that I will give birth in February. It feels like common sense that I cannot workout for the next 30 days. It feels unreasonable that even with all that and my willingness to pay the $50 that I can’t cancel. I felt humiliated trying to reason with the front staff. I am a very active person so having to cancel my membership is already very sensitive for me, but to be told something different every time I ask and be turned away is very frustrating. Finally, after explaining to them that a new note will cost me even more money, they offered to let me “freeze” my account for three months. They never once gave me this option before the numerous times my husband or I asked about my situation. At this point I am really not interested in staying at this gym. It doesn’t seem like a policy that is very friendly to women or mothers. I have never had this much trouble cancelling even with big franchise gyms. Wouldn’t recommend if you think you could have kids. Once it is cancelled, I will never come back.

The RAC is an awesome gym! The staff and owners are friendly and welcoming. They truly make you feel valued and sincerely want to get to know their members. The facility is always clean and equipment is well maintained. I love that they have a prayer request box...just another way they show their members how much they care about them. Thank you, April and JR, for all the love, energy, and care you put into creating a positive and safe workout environment for Richmond.

Couldn’t recommend this gym enough. The owners actually care about you as a member and welcome everyone with open arms. I don’t feel judged when I walk into this gym like I’ve felt with a lot of other gyms. They continue to reinvest into the gym and are always open to the opinions of the members. The best gym you will ever find!

Richmond Athletic Club is more than a gym to me, it’s home. On the toughest days, my RAC fam is always there to pick me up and help me push through my workouts strong. A space where I can clear my head and never worry about a single thing in the gym being dirty. The staff stays ON POINT with their hygiene. If you are in the local area, your best bet is to give the Richmond Athletic Club a try, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been going to this gym since August 2019 and I absolutely love it; staff is friendly, owners are great and know their members’ names. I am regularly greeted on my way in and out, I don’t feel like I have to be one of the “cool kids” to garner any attention. I am an Army Recruiter (20 years in service) and feel 100% supported in my service; I have never, not once, felt like anyone at RAC doesn’t appreciate and support what I do. Also, I apologize to all the other members for being weird and singing to myself on the treadmill. I like it.

This is my gym. I have been a member for 3 years and it just keep getting better. The new owners are great. They take a lot of pride in having a great gym filled with quality equipment that is always working and more free weights than any other gym I have ever been to. They have the best protein shakes in town. They also have single serving before and after workout supplements at the counter. If you are looking for a gym that has it all you need to come to the RAC.

After leaving EKU I wasn’t sure where to work out in town but I switched to the RAC about two years ago and I love it there more everyday. I’ve made good friends and workout around good people. The staff and ownership are always helpful, experienced, and accommodating in any way that’s needed. The facility is always clean and super well cleaned and maintained. The owners are always working on something to make the RAC better every day and I love that! They offer so much too like saunas, personal training, group fitness, and those famously wonderful protein shakes!

The owner has been very supportive and has given me some great tips. April and the rest of the staff are very friendly and eager to help. The gym atmosphere is friendly and family oriented. RAC is the best gym around! I have been a member for several years. The staff genuinely care about their clients' needs. They are continually bringing in new classes and programs to keep people motivated to stay fit and healthy. Onieta and Tanya are fantastic trainers. I highly recommend them both for any personal training needs. The RAC also offers the Kids Club, which my boys love going to play with their "gym friends".

I started training with Tanya in April 2014. She is amazing. She is always available to answer my questions and always encourages and pushes me to be my best. After coming to the gym for several months, I dropped my other memberships to join the RAC. It has been a great decision. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are great. I have taken Zumba and Kettlebell classes so far. All have been awesome. You won't regret coming to this gym!

The Richmond Athletic Club is the best gym in town. I've been working out here for over 13 months and everyday is better here. The staff is so welcoming and friendly; they truly care about whatever fitness journey you have. I started off training with Tanya and have seen amazing results. All of the training staff are extremely knowledgeable and motivating. They have group fitness classes for every fitness level. My favorite is Kettlebelll AMPD! You will leave class wanting more. Not to mention they have a wonderful (and free!) Kid's center; my son loves coming to the gym. I consider the RAC my second family.

I looked at all the gyms around town before making my choice, and I'm glad I went with RAC. I joined around the end of February, and now (not quite six months later) I'm down 20 pounds and 2 inches! There are several things I appreciate about RAC. First, it isn't filled with intimidating steroid puppies that make me feel like I don't belong there. Second, I never have trouble getting to the equipment that I want to use (though I always go at the same time, and can't speak for problems at other times). Third, the people are consistently friendly and encouraging. They welcome me by name and celebrate what I'm doing. They don't nag or make me feel like a slacker if I've been away--but they do care enough to ask if everything is okay. Fourth, they have great trainers on staff; and while of course they'd like you to hire them for personal sessions, they don't hesitate to answer questions or give advice outside paid time. The place is still more humid than I would prefer, but it doesn't smell like some gyms do. There are a couple of small exceptions, but the equipment is mostly in excellent condition.

I love it there, and the results speak for themselves. At my age of (mind your own business, but I do have an AARP card) I'm proud to have gotten to a resting heart rate of 58 and a blood pressure of 114/72.
