I can’t say enough wonderful things about Stronger Life gym. I went to my first class hoping it was not “old people in chairs with a parachute”. It is definitely NOT that. It’s a gym that works well for everyone because the coaches learn about you personally, your health, your issues and what your goals are and they modify all activities on the spot. They truly understand the needs of our population and work tirelessly to help each and every person get stronger and live an active, healthier life.

I have NEVER enjoyed working out...until now! The workouts, which incorporate strength, core work, cardio, balance, and brain health, are created with the abilities and needs of those over 55 by doctors of physical therapy. Classes are fun (really!) and I'm encouraged by well-trained coaches to push myself as much as I can with accommodations and no shame if I need modification. The best part is the community of friends who also want to live their strongest, fittest lives.

I've been with StrongerLife for nearly four years and can confirm---it's literally the best thing you can do for your aging overall self.
Professional (Drs of Physical therapy), inspiring, encouraging of the "social" parts (which make us "family"), the "physical parts" which make us strong and flexible, the "mental" parts which keep us sharp....StrongerLife coaches know what us "oldsters" need. It's the greatest thing for seniors who want to stay strong, flexible, balanced and maintain mental acuity.
And, NO....I'm not a commercial. Just a VERY, VERY grateful StrongerLife Member!

I've belonged to StrongerLife for a little over 2 years now and it has changed my life. I was obese and was scared to death to start an exercise program, but this one is run by physical therapists and I figured it would at least be safe for someone with limitations. Little did I know what this would do for me. I've lost 55+ pounds, all my blood work is normal now, I'm stronger, healthier, and feel better. I can play with and pick up my grandson, clean my house and do my own gardening with relative ease. I'm walking farther and faster on two severely arthritic knees. I'm doing things I haven't done in 20 years, and having fun again. My mood is the best it's ever been. The coaches at StrongerLife are just about the most fantastic people you will ever meet. Everyone is welcome and I have many new friends. My doctors are thrilled at my new health numbers. Avoiding diabetes and heart disease alone is more than worth the cost of this program. I know this sounds too good to be true, but it is. If you show up and do the program your life and your health will be better for it!

Stronger Life is a community of upbeat, positive people who share the goal of living to the best of their abilities. The classes are intense and fun and well-designed with plenty of new movements to keep your interest. When you reach the age of 55, being mentally and physically fit requires effort and commitment. Jeff and Dustin, owners and program designers, have found a way to make the effort fun! They are geniuses! Their program is designed for cognitive health, balance and strength.. and it works! And their trained staff is awesome! I wish it were available to friends who live all across the U.S. I have never enjoyed exercise the way I do their classes. Check it out!

Can’t say enough positive comments about Stronger Life. 1st, no mention of weight…ever. Aren’t we all pretty sick of that subject anyway? This is all about living a stronger, longer, healthier, life. All about, strength, balance, and endurance. Is a firmer body a by product? Yes! But never the focus. Working out with a group of people my own age, 55+, from various starting points and varying walks of life has kept me motivated to come back week after week. Starting my 2nd year this week!

Three Reasons to Join Stronger Life:
1) The workouts are designed so that we can decide on the amount of effort. If we feel strong we can push ourselves. If we want to go easy, we can still do that with any of the workouts. They show you how.
2) The workouts are scheduled. I've been a member of many gyms where you can go ANY TIME. The problem is, I told myself I have plenty of time, so I'll go tomorrow, or the next day, or the next. I kept postponing. This way I've made a date/appointment, and I make it a point to be there.
3) The staff takes the time to get to know each of us. When I get there someone always greets me by name.
I'm not just a member... I belong there.

Stronger Life has definitely been a “game changer“ in my life. When I started, I was no longer in good shape, lacked energy, etc. I basically sat around for a year after losing my partner, John, and this was exacerbated by the Covid pandemic. I always had been very active prior to that, with traveling, hiking, exercise. I knew I wanted to find a gym, and looked for one, but it was my daughter who did research and found Stronger Life! She called and said “I found the perfect gym for you! “. She was absolutely right. The trained professionals who are our coaches, include two Doctors of Physical Therapy (DPT). They plan and coach most of the classes that are geared towards the 55 and over population. Individual exercises can be adjusted and tailored for you, as needed.
For me, I realize I look and feel so much better!! This includes a 10 pound weight loss, toning and gaining strength and balance. One of my favorite aspects of this gym, is the social contacts that are made from being in class with people who have similar goals in life: and want improved overall health too. I absolutely love it!❤️

After not finding the right trainer for me and my physical issues, I started Stronger Life in September 2022. I was immediately impressed by the rationale behind the exercises and the trainers’ ability to modify any exercise for whatever issue you might have. They respect the goals you have set for yourself instead of making you feel that you have to be doing things exactly as others in the class or as they have always done it. There is no sense of competition and the participants have created a welcoming culture of encouragement and support. You will be challenged, but supported in ways that ensure your success. And success doesn’t necessarily mean weight loss unless you want it to be. I appreciate the focus on strength and functionality over traditional gym “fitness” goals. The fact that this is a program designed by physical therapists for people 55 and older means that the trainers are actively thinking about what will improve your quality of life, and you are also working out with people who are all experiencing the toll that aging can take on the body. The goal is to be a better you for all those everyday and special things you want to do! And the sense of community is incredibly important. I am so glad this program is in Lexington!

I’m so happy to say that I’ve been a member of StrongerLife for six months. My previous gym was closing and I didn’t know where to go! I read many reviews and found my ‘home” at StrongerLife! It’s strictly for those 55 and older! Routines developed by the owners , who are Doctors of Physical Therapy! I never dreamed I’d be lifting weights, rowing, etc and enjoying it! PLUS, I hadn’t been able to run because of my knees in 10 years! Woohoo! I even won 3 medals in the Kentucky Senior Games! I have so many new friends and feel so much better!

I’ve been a member for three years now and have not gotten bored with the program. The coaches come up with new routines each week and have never repeated the same sequence of exercises.
Each day we do some cardio mixed with working different muscle groups as well as balance work ( so important for us as our hearing and eyesight age). It never gets old and routine. I can modify any of the exercises especially anything that puts stress on my knee caps since both are replaced so injury or past surgeries are not an issue. Looking forward to our own facility and more hours for classes.
Still is the BEST program for 55 and older adults period!
I am 72 years old and was starting to have some issues climbing stairs and trying to move around my dogs. I started StrongerLife in February 2020 and was very happy with my progress and then everything shut down. Once we started back up again in June I quickly came back to where I was and have since gone beyond what I thought I could do. You are never too old to get those unused muscles working again! Jeff and Dustin are great at motivating you to push on and modifying any movement that you can’t do.
Update: I finally broke down and had my right knee replaced as it was bent enough to make walking any distance painful. I had surgery the day after Thanksgiving and was doing physical therapy by Monday. I was driving by the middle of December and was back in the gym doing StrongerLife (only three days at first) by the middle of January. I was released from PT the first part of February and can say that this recovery was all due to StrongerLife getting me ready for the surgery and keeping me energized afterward. I am 74 now and LOVE this program!

I have been going since June! The workouts are well thought out and designed to make you stronger! I was able to carry a 1880 blanket chest with one other person, 200 feet and help load in car yesterday! It amazed me! All workouts have built in modifications so you don’t have to worry about that bad knee or other joints. No judgement if you modify or stop for a break. Instructions are easy to follow. Two Physical Therapists and two amazing techs are involved the entire hour. Happy and friendly place too! Best health insurance you can have is a strong body. Love this fitness group!

I tried stronger life because I wasn’t happy just doing machines at the gym. I wasn’t sure if I’d be challenged (since I’m on the young end of the age spectrum at 56)but that concern was resolved after the first workout. These guys design the workouts to be fun and challenging to you regardless of your age, strength or fitness level. After a month I’m completely sold on Stronger Life and really happy with the results!

Getting fit through strength training is not something I would’ve ever thought to consider for myself. StrongerLife is a fabulous program for people 55+. I have been coming for over a year. I have more stamina, range of motion, strength, flexibility, and muscle definition than when I started. I also have lost 13 lbs.
The coaches are great. They will work with you in class and give you different options to the exercises.
We refer to ourselves as StrongerLife family. It is one of the best things that I have ever been a part of.

Warning! This is not your typical old folks exercise program, it is a life changing strength, endurance, and mental focus for adults 55+! I started in February, 2022, At 69 I was feeling like an old person, weak, feeble, and tired, thinking I was in my last stage of life. I had never worked out in a gym in my entire life , had no clue what a dumbbell or a barbell was, taking that first step going to Stronger Life was the best decision I have ever made regarding my health. It is challenging, you work at your own pace! Exercises are modified depending on your abilities, staff and members cheer you on whether you are lifting a 5 lb dumbbell or 100 lbs! It has been 6 months, the weak old lady that couldn’t lift a 25 lb of dog food when she started just reached her goal of lifting 100 lbs for her 70th birthday! Today I feel stronger and happier, ready to embrace life, and enjoy my new life style, I got a bicycle for my birthday and plan on doing a 5k run/walk this fall! If you can walk you can you exercise and get stronger at Stronger Life!

Stronger Life has not only benefited me physically but also emotionally— following back surgery I was hesitant and fearful to take on new activities and my confidence in my body’s ability to recover was greatly reduced. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I like the videos and I am so happy that the coaches go over all the exercises in detail and explain how to use the equipment. At my previous gym, the first time we used the rowers we had to get on and figure it out ourselves. I never did figure out how to use the menu. At Stronger Life the rower is explained so well I was able to figure it out on the first day.
I also appreciate the modifications and the explanations how to modify each exercise.

I have always worked out, but adding the StrongerLife routine twice a week has taught me how to correctly lift weights; how to add balance and agility exercises into my routine; and how to strengthen and stabilize the most vital parts of my semi-aging body...back, shoulders, hips, abs. Unlike any other elder fitness class I've known about. The coaches are Ph.D. level physical therapists who have worked for years with old people. They are now bringing what they know about (re)building strong, functioning bodies into a class format. Each day offers a different workout. Across time, all factors of fitness, including balance, get focused, guided, personalized attention. Every person about 55 can take part, and the workouts will be tailored to ability, strength, energy level and injury. In the gym, when it's possible to be there (virus-safe) there's a lot of interesting and useful equipment. Coaches Jeff and Dustin also deliver top notch live Zoom classes for times when we must be at home. Highly recommended. My own pain levels have markedly decreased as my strength is gradually beginning to show up.

I had been working out for years on my own and had read that strength training was what I needed but at 67 there was no way I would walk into a gym. When I heard that there was a class for my age group run by trainers who were physical therapists I had great hopes. Those hopes have been achieved beyond my wildest dreams. I am doing things now that I couldn't do 40 years ago. In addition to their expertise in working with the many challenges of older bodies, Jeff and Dustin's amazing can do attitude and unrelenting positiveness have made the class a fun and happy place to be.
