I previously worked out at thie exact location when it was Anytime Fitness. At the time, the gym was falling apart with lack of air conditioning and a majority of the equipment breaking down without a plan to fix it, and only one person was working there, on an inconsistent schedule, all for $35 a month. The only way a machine would be fixed is if a member was voluntarily fixing then.

With Taylor Fitness, they have made significant progress to the gym. There is air conditioning, the machines and equipment work fine, and it's much cheaper. ($21 a month, though you have to pay $36 on your first month due to enrollment) There is a stairmaster that doesn't work at the time of this review, but the overall progress is way better than it was as Anytime Fitness. They also have a wider bench - something unusual yet super beneficial in regular commercial gyms - for competitive powerlifters or for those who want to improve their bench press strength.

The staff, when active, are professional. I spoke to one of the workers named Roxy about my time in the gym when it was Anytime Fitness and she has been very cool to talk to. We also talked about life and music, too. I also had a small situation happen too and another worker there was very helpful and didn't take advantage of anything, which was also great.

Onto the cons: The radio choice they have here is bad. In my opinion, it's worse than when it was Anytime Fitness. When the gym was Anytime Fitness, the radio would play only 15 songs or so, most of which are "hits" that have been heard too many times elsewhere. When you workout there for years, it starts to really annoy you, similar to how guitar store owners don't want to listen to Stairway To Heaven anymore because of how overplayed it was. That's how I really felt. With Taylor Fitness, I think the radio is much worse, as it plays mainstream pop music as well as radio hosts talking and laughing for 5 minutes after every song, which doesn't add to the workout experience, especially if you're pushing yourself hard. More-so, it's a distraction. This won't be an issue if you have headphones / earbuds, but if you're one without headphones or earbuds, the radio here is not good.

And one more: the staff isn't always at the gym on the advertised time. (M-F, 10AM - 9PM) One day last week (mid-September), workers weren't there even though they're supposed to be. A guy was outside waiting for an hour or so. This also happened yesterday (Sept. 29), as I worked out from 3 PM to 5 PM and nobody was working. A guy kept ringing the door bell too. I have applied to work at the gym a month ago and I am more than happy to fill in that gap, since I love the gym and understand the community.

There's also no bumper plates in the gym either. Of all the gyms I've gone to, this is the only one without those. (including its time as Anytime Fitness) If anyone is doing olympic weightlifting or any variation of cleans, then this gym is not the place to go.

From my perspective, if Taylor Fitness can improve their staffing hours and allow members to change the radio to more gym-oriented music rather than commercial music then I'd give this five stars. As it stands, three stars, but I am hopeful in seeing improvements. No bumper plates does not affect my rating, but I hope to see that included too.

(SPOILER: I JOINED and ITS AWESOME)
so I just moved to Louisville last month, and as a self proclaimed fitness buff, I'm incredibly picky about my workout environment... but I can say this new spot in Hillview is seriously the MOVE! As soon as I walked in, the staff treated me like a long-time member, which I did not expect but immediately made me feel at home.

What truly sets this gym apart for me is the variety and super smooth feel of their machines. Coming from someone meticulous about equipment, that speaks volumes. It's clear they actually care about their gear. Even though I'm new to public gyms, the vibe and strong community here have made it an exciting change. LETS GO!!!

My husband and I have been visiting this gym 5 days a week for almost 10 years back when it used to be Anytime Fitness. I had never had an issue up until now. When the new owners took over and they had us switch our memberships, the new policies were not made clear. The communication is disappointing, later on they posted policies on the wall after everyone had already switched over their memberships. We should have been informed about these new policies before we made new memberships. The equipment is also in bad shape, and has not been kept up since the switch in ownership. I have not had a good experience at all.
