I do not understand how this place can justify $40 a month.

*Edit the locker rooms also always have old guys that are really really creepy and always trying to have weird conversations with you. There are 3 people that they allow in the mens fitness room and these guys are 100% weird and give off bad vibes. One guy sits constantly on the couch facing the lockers with his phone out 'scrolling' but I think he is taking pictures of people changing. I dont have proof but i am pretty sure.

The building is run down and gross. The men's fitness rooms are disgusting with nasty carpet and the lockers smell awful. The only good thing is the steam room but that is not working 90% of the time.

A decent amount of the gym equipment is newer, but they will not update the remining equipment which makes it difficult to do the work out you want.

Even though the gym has a sign on the wall saying you must be 18+ to work out in the area, they still allow kids work out there. This causes the equipment to rarely be free.

While they may wipe down the equipment for you once a while, it is not clean enough. the dumbell handles and bar bells are covered in dirt that is in the grooves of the equipment, so when you use it, your hands are dirty.

Honestly I do not know why i haven't cancelled my membership.

My son recently had the opportunity to participate in swimming lessons through his school at the YMCA, and the experience exceeded all expectations.
In just four days, his fear of water completely disappeared thanks to the incredible support and guidance of the YMCA’s dedicated swim instructors. He not only gained confidence but also learned essential skills like the back float, important swimming techniques, and water safety fundamentals.

Staff is friendly and the pool is nice. Keep an eye on pool hours, though inside the building will have a schedule online may not have an up to date calendar. Please inquire about family plans or if you have 2 or more members. They have a variety of programs.

Horrible experience as they only care about mememberships now, the YMCA is not what it used to be and everyone knows it. When I was young the YMCA never turned any customers away and that made them different, they tried to make me pay $90 today to workout for one day. I’ll never be back and there’s plenty of other gyms that won’t turn you away like this. Don’t choose YMCA

The overall atmosphere is nice. The people are friendly. The staff are courteous & helpful, & do a good job of helping people. They have great classes with excellent instructors. Currently they are giving the place a bit of a face-lift. Membership joining prices are about to change. Plenty of nice benefits for those that sign up as members.

YMCA is supposed to be about unity and Godly morals/ principles. This new ”CEO” has NONE! I’m Caucasian but I witnessed the “new CEO” of this YMCA racially profile some kids and kick them out for no reason! Then he took away the “guest pass” because a group older (African American) guys come at night to play basketball while using guest passes. This new management is terrible I cancelled my membership I will NOT be back !!! RUN!

If i was able to leave 0 stars i would do it. Because we've been a ymca family member for years all we wanted was to go swim on the pool on our day offs but we were told we weren't allowed in because they only had one life guard which is understandable but they were letting the people who paid for day passes in while WE weren't allowed in even though we were members!!! Totally horrible experience! We had to leave with my kids that were visibly upset because they were all dressed up only for them to not let us in. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO SWIM OR GET A MEMBERSHIP. GO TO ATLANTIS OR SOMEWHERE WORTH YOUR MONEY!

Their policy & practices Of cleaning all of the machines when you get off really makes no sense when you think about it. I caught covid there last November and if I had taken the precautions to clean the machines thoroughly before I got on them I wouldn't have caught covid. But when we depend on someone else to take care of our health they are not going to clean that machine as thoroughly as it should be. Even when I watch the employees go around and clean the machines they are just barely doing a light rubbing which accomplishes nothing.
So if you are concerned about your health clean the machine before you get on it don't depend on someone else to do it for you.

I love that the Owensboro YMCA has a pool but why do you keep it at 85 degrees? As a former competitive swimmer/lifeguard/swim instructor 85 degrees is way too hot for proper exercise. Also just found out the heater for the pool is broken surprise surprise maybe if you didn’t run the heater on full heat 24/7 it wouldn’t have broke.

I really like this facility but right now the answering machine says it's open til 9:45 when it is only open til 9 o'clock. I was really disappointed to get down there and find the doors were about to be locked.
