My one-star goes to Nerissa Sparkman with Warm Vinyasa on Fridays at 6 pm class. I wrote a review on the mind-body business app and it was deleted by someone so I decided to write it here on Google. When we started our class on 07/28/23 she started a long monologue about how long she has been doing yoga, 20-something years. She started talking about the ego so much that it was odd because, at the same time, she kept talking about herself so much. She went on and on about how much she knows about yoga and how long she has been doing that. She referred to us as babies in yoga and mentioned that back in time there were certain terms that nobody but old yogis like her would know about. She was not very humble as she preached.
Why did she make the class about her? This monologue was like 10 min 😴
Then she started the class. She would show a pose very fast and then would be like “Alright, your turn” without much detail in instructions. She told me” btw your headstand sucks”, which is probably true but what a way to say it. She did not give specific advice or instruction to students like me that needed assistance. She just laughed which was pretty bizarre this being a yoga class.
My review is intended to try to improve these classes for the students' benefit who are the ones taking their time to take care of themselves by attending these classes. These students deserve the best. I love the other classes and other teachers, especially Ben Shorts, Shawn, Tamyra, Mackenzie Delmonico, and Charnette; for them, I have 5 stars.
Also, I apologize for my grammar, English is not my first language. Thank you

I just started yoga recently due to age and injuries in an attempt to get some flexibility and balance, I went to another very popular studio and liked it but came to YOB due to a recommendation from a client and was happy I did! The experience was night and day from the previous place as I had nothing to compare to, I have an athletic background so hot yoga appealed to me and I enjoyed the previous studio but learned quickly with Kristi that the previous was lacking almost completely in their helping new and existing students. Kristi took the time to walk the class throughout and help people adjust properly and made the class that much more beneficial, after trying the hot yoga I did the restorative due to an injury and liked it every bit as much!

What a gem of a studio!! I'm so grateful I found it. My teacher was absolutely amazing and guided me into a whole level of breath-body connection throughout the practice. The space is uplifting with a gorgeous ambiance. Very welcoming and unpretentious for an irregular yogi like me. The heater and music were especially nice touches - and plants everywhere made it feel like I was practicing near a tropical rainforest. Thank you so much!

Was kicked off the property with less time than I could take my phone out of my pocket and see where I was at. I work in customer service myself and never am rude to non customers, until I get a reason to be. Btw I don't smoke cigarettes.
No I'm not a customer, I was lost,.and before I could take my phone out of my pocket I was was being yelled at and kicked out even after apologizing. Im sorry it takes my money to get respect ....that's the wrong order...
I wasn't asked to move, I was not so nicely told what to do. Watch how you speak to others. You need to meditate more, it removed my ego, I know yoga, I expect more from a yogi

Yoga on Baxter is a beautiful and welcoming space, filled with green plants in the entryway, and calm, stimulating colors on the walls of the studio.
The front desk attendant is warm and attentive and remembered me from the first time I came a while ago.
I attended Chris Derome’s class and it left me feeling lifted. Chris has a sweet and vibrant energy about him, and his music selection was fun. During his class, I was able to try new poses I’d never attempted, and learn new ways to feel more comfortable and engaged in poses I’ve known for a long time. His class was super refreshing and I’ll definitely be coming back.

I participated in a Saturday community yoga class led by Christopher DeRome. I always enjoy coming into the beautiful space at Yoga on Baxter. I enjoy the music Christopher puts together, it seems well thought out for the class he is teaching. I also enjoyed the class itself, lighthearted yet serious yoga. A good workout if you put your mind and breath to it. I will defiantly join him for another class in the future!

I'm new to town from NYC and decided for 2021 to do a 30 day yoga challenge, they offer $30 for 30 days- which was SO helpful. The studio is neat, clean, sanitized, and smells yummy. You are greeted by Kristi, both an instructor and the owner- she's a GEM. She even wrote down recommendations of places to visit while in town. Some instructors are better than others- but that's fine, as I pick and choose. Highly recommend for all levels.

Sunday Service is excellent with Laura! Leigh Ann’s flow class is a beautiful and true Vinyasa class. Kristi has cultivated a wonderful yoga community in the Highlands area. It felt great to sweat out all of the toxins in her class! The 30 days for $30 special for those new to the studio and to yoga is the best deal in town especially if you are trying out yoga for the first time or want to dive into your personal yoga practice with a community of dedicated yogis. The fact that I can walk or ride my bike there is definitely a perk! So very thankful for this studio!

I was waiting until the end of my 30 days to write this review, and now that I have found a new yoga studio everything I felt about this place feels worse.
My two stars are only going to Ben, Lee & Leigh Ann who were excellent. I really enjoyed their classes and felt truly welcomed.
However, I did not enjoy Kristi's classes at all, she was extremely rude and nothing about her class was calming or enjoyable. When she wanted to correct you or help you with an adjustment it felt like she was laughing at you and it felt extremely condescending. My friend whom I went with had a major injury and Kristi called her out in front of the whole class for being unable to hold a pose - She felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed.
The last class we attended had a substitute teacher who had absolutely NO idea what he was doing, it was basically a boring guided stretch for 75 minutes, it was so demotivating. It is pretty common that the classes her will have substitute teachers and so I would say the schedule is pretty inconsistent.
After my new experience at the new yoga studio I have found, I can definitely say that my experience here was completely unenjoyable and I'm glad to be done. Although in saying that, I would absolutely do another class with Ben & Leigh Ann at a different studio.

When looking for a new yoga studio, I chose to try Yoga on Baxter based off of positive reviews. I did one drop-in class and was hooked! They offer a new student special ($30 for 30 days) which many studios around the city offer. Prices for regular membership are a bit tough for people like myself (a student with a limited income), but at the same time, they are not atypical for the area.

I love the rotating schedule, which allows you to try different class styles and instructors. Personally, I especially love Taylor and Leah's teaching styles, but I have not had a bad class, and I haven't had the chance to try every class yet.

There are members of all ages and ability levels, and the teachers are great at motivating and welcoming new students. It's very low key and the perfect mix of "spiritual" without going overboard (but again, that's personal preference). There is also a massage therapist onsite, Stephanie, who is wonderful!

I definitely recommend Yoga on Baxter to anyone looking for a studio!

I couldn't be happier! Friendly instructors, variety of classes and class times, and decent prices. Other schools in the Louisville Metro have longer, fewer classes, unbearable temperatures, and a fiercely competitive environment; Yoga on Baxter is the exact opposite. I highly recommend!
