I have never dealt with such an unscrupulous and unethical business. It’s insane how they treat their own patrons — with zero understanding, transparency, or decency. The management is unprofessional and completely unwilling to work with members in good faith. Stay far away from this place. They don’t value their members, only their money. Once you sign a contract, you’re stuck, and they’ll make sure of it. Policies are rigid, compassion is nonexistent, and you’ll quickly realize you’re just a paycheck to them. I wish I’d read reviews like this before joining. Go elsewhere.

i went on a week-long hunt to every gym around the new orleans area and genuinely none of them compare to this one.
this is the cleanest, most welcoming gym by a landslide. everyone follows the rules and wipes off the equipment when they’re finished, and everyone is kind minds their own business.
it always smells good in here, the ac is always kickin’ (very important with this nola heat) and there’s dehumidifiers and oil diffusers.
great price, atmosphere, staff and (new!) equipment. 10/10 gym all the way around.

I really wanted to like this location, but after a few unsettling experiences, I just don’t feel safe working out here anymore. The area around Canal Street does have a lot of homeless people, and while that’s not necessarily an issue in itself, there was one incident where a homeless man actually walked into the gym, which was a bit concerning. But what really pushed me to stop working out here was when I witnessed a fight break out in the middle of the gym. It escalated so fast, and it was honestly pretty scary. I’ve always liked the gym itself (it's clean and decent equipment) but these safety issues are a dealbreaker for me. I really hope management takes more steps to ensure the safety of members moving forward.

High Membership Cancellation Fee and Ongoing Issues!

Hello, I had previously written a review about this place, but I deleted it as a goodwill gesture after receiving an email from them. However, I now see that nothing has improved!

I wanted to cancel my membership because I am moving, but I was told that I was obligated to pay a fee and that if I canceled, I would have to pay $679.11. I asked for a compromise, but they said it was impossible. As a result, I had no choice but to let my membership continue.

Later, despite having sufficient funds in my account (which I offered to prove), they failed to process the payment and charged me an additional late fee. Now, I am experiencing the same issue for the second time.

Additionally, for some unknown reason, my access card stopped working two weeks ago, preventing me from entering the facility. I was truly shocked by the lack of support.

At this point, I feel the need to share my experience on every platform because they have shown no goodwill in resolving these issues.

Please be careful when signing up. They may seem welcoming at first, like a family, but once you sign the contract, things can take a completely different turn.

David was especially helpful getting me signed up, giving my fitness assessment, and helping me with a workout plan to get me back on track.. I’ve lost almost 20lb so far! Last night, September 20, the gym made an instagram story informing members that the key fob reader wasn't working. They let us know to keep informed through facebook. So today, after we walked to the gym, we found out the only staffed hours for today was from 9-12. We thought that going at 1:45 was a reasonable enough time. You might be wondering, "well why didn't you just look up the hours before complaining?" Simple. They had no hours posted to their Google, Facebook or Instagram. So, I simply left a comment on their Facebook post about the issue. They apparently did not appreciate being called out for the mismanagement, so they blocked me. This took away my only way of knowing when I could actually show up to the gym, after being told that is where I should look for information. I should add, my comment was in no way disrespectful.
I would give a direct quote of the comment, but I have no way of seeing it as they thought blocking a gym member was the right answer. The comment was similar to: "Tragic how yall could not post about the gyms hours on Google, facebook, or Instagram. We showed up hoping to be let in only to find out that staffed hours was only for three hours."

As one of the most expensive gyms in the city it's sad to see that when the key fob reader goes down you can only come in on staff hours.

Meaning on Saturday you and every other member of the gym have 3 hours to workout because they won't extend the staff hours

This location is amazing for me and my partner and has some of the best equipment I've seen in a gym but is fairly expensive
The gym staff is very receptive to critical criticism about the gym and I really appreciate that and feel heard when I bring up issues 💪🏽

Signing up through my health insurance was a breeze. I came back the next day for an introductory session with David and he was great. I was surprised at how big the Canal St Anytime Fitness is. It's far more significant than it looks from the street, and while there are many members, it's rarely too full because they have so much more equipment than other gyms. I highly suggest that you visit them.
