TERRIBLE. Did not want to go back to the facility and they contacted attorneys. DO NOT waste your money on this small, disgusting place. Go to a real gym where there is more than one leg press machine. TERRIBLE

As for a gym, I’m totally disgusted in how they treat members of the military, for starts, No military discount, also they have the most fine printed contract that’s always going to be 1 year and have stacked up hundreds of dollars some how in the matter of a couple months, customer support never answered me for months and will send you into a loop hole so you can’t cancel the membership, they are definitely CON-Artist’s! I can’t wait to sue the owner for harassment as well !

Great gym
Has everything I need. Boxing is my main cardio, so love that they have a room with a punching bag.

I originally transferred my membership from the Canal St. location—where the staff is consistently kind and helpful—to the Freret St. location, and the difference has been night and day.
When I joined Canal St., I was paying close to $100/month. I was told that the membership rate would adjust based on location, so switching to Freret (where the listed rate is around $50/month) should have reduced my fee. It never did. I called multiple times during posted business hours and couldn’t get anyone on the phone. When I finally did, I believe I spoke with the owner, and I was shocked by how rude and condescending the conversation was.
Eventually, when I tried to cancel out of frustration, I was told my membership would end in May 2025 anyway, and that I would be charged the same amount whether I canceled or not—so I regretfully kept it. I’ve since switched gyms for obvious reasons.
Fast forward to June 2025, and I was charged yet again. I’ve been calling daily since the start of the month with no response. When I finally reached someone (I believe the same person), I was met with the same dismissive attitude. I was told that “nothing regarding memberships can be handled over the phone,” that it’s “posted everywhere,” and then was abruptly hung up on. I followed their instructions and emailed, but they’re still unable to resolve the issue and are now denying I ever spoke with anyone at all.
This location is not only poorly managed, but the facility itself leaves much to be desired—it's extremely small, the machines are almost always occupied, there's barely any room to stretch, and there are no showers.
My advice: go literally anywhere else. This has been one of the worst gym experiences I’ve ever had.
I added the response to my email regarding the miscommunication that was had. You can see she's very unprofessional.

After signing up online, I accidentally went to the wrong location—and honestly, I wish I had just stayed there. When I finally arrived at the correct gym, I was met at the door by Julie, who asked, “How can I help you?” — but not in a friendly, professional way. Her tone was hostile, like I didn’t belong there or was inconveniencing her by showing up. She didn’t offer a tour or explain anything about what the gym offers — she just handed me a key fob and walked away.
This was a stark contrast to Sean at the Garden District location. Even though I was at the wrong location, he still took the time to show me around, explain the amenities, and make me feel welcome. That brief interaction made me excited to join — but unfortunately, the experience at the actual gym was the complete opposite.
I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I never felt comfortable enough to return. A couple of months later, when I called to cancel my membership, Julie answered the phone and said, “What do you want?” — no greeting, no professionalism, just immediate attitude. That response confirmed what I had already felt during my first visit.
I’ve never done anything to this woman—I met her once in person and once over the phone, and both interactions were unnecessarily rude. Though she is a business owner, it’s important to remember that owning a business means serving your customers. A little kindness goes a long way, especially in a city as small and community-driven as New Orleans. It’s easy to let ego take over when you’re running a business, but at the end of the day, your attitude sets the tone for your brand.
Julie clearly struggles with that. She has zero customer service skills, and the gym itself feels dated and neglected. Honestly, based on how she treats people, she might be better off back in New York working in fashion — not managing a space meant for people who are trying to better themselves.
Out of curiosity, I searched her name along with the word “rude,” and found that others have had similar experiences. It seems my story isn’t unique.
If you’re looking for a positive, welcoming environment, I strongly suggest choosing a different gym.

Very unprofessional staff, maybe she was having a bad day or something. They tried to scam me out of $50. I purchased my keyfob from a different ATF location and since I purchased it why would I need to return it? When I cancelled my membership it switched locations and I was told I would be charged $50. The owner stands around like a hawk waiting for anyone he can tell to get off their phone or stop dropping the weights too heavily. I had 70lb dumbbells doing incline press and it’s hard to let down the weight easily. He emberasses me in front of the whole gym about the weights. The time before my cell phone which I was speaking quietly away from everyone. It’s like he stands around watching everyone workout so he can correct people for fun.

Very dirty, needs a good scrubbing all over. Many machines need repair, and have for months. Water fountain and bathrooms filthy.
General gym etiquette not followed, and owner has a poor attitude and work ethic (when she is there). There are other options in New Orleans.

Jolie Bensen, the owner of this franchise, sent my minor son to a collections agency for a debt he never incurred and when I called her to inquire about it she was tremendously rude and dismissive and hung up in my face. She then proceeded to text message me I was banned from the gym and to return my key FOB. FOR INQURING ABOUT WHY MY MINOR CHILD WAS SENT TO A COLLECTIONS BUREAU BY HER BUSINESS FOR A DEBT HE NEVER INCURRED!!!! My son was on my family plan and I paid every month via auto draft on my debit card!!!! They give ANYBODY franchise's these days!! You've been warned

It pains me to learn that the owner is so desperate to collect money that she would falsely sue a teenager for an account he never created. I’m inclined to believe that this level of racial injustice is unequivocally unacceptable! How dare you lie, and set up a future young man for financial failure due to your own incompetence Jolie Benson!

I saw the reviews about being unclean and outdated, assumed people were being dramatic. But, the equipment is extremely old. The treadmill I was on was uneven there were dips. Could definitely roll an ankle if you were going for a sprint on it. My hands showed the grime of the equipment right away. The cable machine was really loose. At 3 other anytime's I'm pulling like 50 max on a rear high delt pull, and here I was up to 80 lbs. The bathroom is very clean. There's only one set of 5, 10, 15, and 20 lb dumbells?
The gym seems to get high enough traffic to warrant new equipment and a thorough routine wipe down of all the equipment. The space and layout is nice. It would be great with a spring clean and new or repaired equipment.

This gym is more or less fine, except for two problems:
1) When things break, they don't fix them. Especially the fans, which really matters in New Orleans. And sometimes the bathrooms, which is really not great.
2) The billing is shady. They will nickel and dime you. I had multiple issues, and when I cancelled my membership they charged me more than the cancellation fee stated in my contract WITHOUT confirming with me first - they just pulled it out of my account. When I called them on it, they said they had "just raised their cancellation rates, but they would honor my contract" and returned the overage.
They then charged me a full month for my last few days of my membership and have yet to respond to me about that.
Not impressed, Anytime.

To start, our experience with gym memberships in New Orleans have not been the same as other areas of the country we have lived in. As a whole, they tend to be pricier for smaller square footage/gym equipment or much much pricer for more than I am looking for out of a gym.
Anytime Fitness was a good middle road in New Orleans. The Freret street location is small. My wife and I moved from Milwaukee where we had a ~$20/month membership to Planet Fitness which was 3x the size.
With that said, in all my visits are I have been able to access a treadmill. Some treadmills are a little noisier than others. For weights, you just have to be flexible. You might not get the exact piece of equipment
you want to in the order you want it.
Overall, as far as gyms go in New Orleans, Anytime Fitness is a good option for those that are flexible in there workout plans. You can always work out in off peak hours.

This anytime is smaller then some of the others in New Orleans. If its not too crowded, then Its ok. it also has tanning beds. The gym has full service cardio equipment and a good number of nautilus machines. They have cages with bumber plates for olympic lifts. its good for a smaller number of people . the dumbells 9nly go to 100, so your pressing options will be limited. otherwise good

The facility is usually clean. Friendly membership.. But,... The attendant seems to be stalker-ish I. There... Like a creepy gra D father looking at kids in a see-saw... He always tends to BR husy and liki g around and atari g when the guys come in. I'm a gym rat and I'm usually there most peak times. It's just weird and kind of awkward.
I still go, bc iys a block away.. But I'll alter my times not to get or feels loomed in on.... Ijs

This is a small to moderately sized gym, the value is appropriate for the style (~$55/mo). There are ample treadmills, the machines are a but haphazardly placed filling in the space because of the walls that exist. The free weights provide appropriate coverage for whatever exercise you might prefer with 2 squat racks and bumper plates as well as a smith machine. The dumbells lack enough housing so many sit on the floor disorganized under weight rack. Having recently moved I'm feeling as if I were spoiled previously in comparison to the areas exercise options.
- equipment is worn, no discernible improvement over 1+ year. Likely wont renew. Now equipment staying broken weeks at a time

Water cooler is perpetually empty and the other option is a disgusting water fountain that obviously hasn't been cleaned for a very long time. Or the bathroom faucet, and that's just wrong. Free weights have a lot of busted handles, seems like upkeep and repair are not high on their list of priorities. They do have a decent amount of equipment for a small place, and it's the only gym for miles around, so they pretty much have the market cornered.

Horrible customer service, since they don't have a customer service line and central coordination I got the run-around trying to cancel my membership and was billed 2 months I didn't use for both me and my girlfriend, management at this location was cold and condescending and did nothing to rectify situation. Great place to work out at, especially for beginners. The staff I’ve met so far is nice, and they gave my boyfriend and I two discounts when signing up because we are students and we work on Freret street. We go after work late at night and it’s never crowded at that time.

My gym and I love! It's not pretentious and the staff is great. It is small and can get a little crowded but everyone is very courteous and respectful of each others space. My only complaint is that the incline sit up bench is always in an awkward spot. I kinda wish they would unisex the bathroom to create an are for the excess equipment. I mean it's an urban area gym in 2018, we can pee in the same hole.

This place is in a great location, but it is strictly barebones when it comes to gym equipment. One squat rack, one Smith machine, and no other barbells (outside of one EZ bar). Good DB selection, a handful of kettlebells, and your essential "must haves" lifting machines. It's small, and when 5+ people get into the weight room area, it feels pretty crowded. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anyone actually working there, so good luck if you have questions about the equipment. Overall, it's ok. You can get a workout in, but with limited options. The gym is visibly clean, but drop to the ground to do push ups or burpees, and you'll come up with hands covered in grime. It's a shame it isn't managed better, because the location is perfect. Oh well.
