Very well maintained course. Greens were very nice. Carts are very nice. We played on a Friday afternoon and were visited by the beverage cart at least 5-6 times. My only complaint was there was no Marshall to monitor the pace of play. We were a threesome and had to wait on the foursome in front of us on 17 out of 18 holes. It caused a 4.5 hour round for us. We don’t play exceptionally fast but a little push from a course marshal would have helped. Otherwise the course is fabulous.

I have played Carter Plantation on several occasions with VGA, and each time I've played, there were bits and pieces of the round that I found amazing and challenging. The staff were exceptional and genuinely sought to make our experience enjoyable. The greens were immaculate and true, with extraordinary speed. Fairways were in good shape without bare spots, but there were plenty of undulations for challenging ball placements and stances. Sand traps could use a manicure, according to my playing partners, I would not know since I avoided those hazards. I highly recommend this out-of-the-way jewel of a golf course for an enjoyable experience.

Course was in pristine condition. Check-in was easy; staff friendly and accomodating. Upon arrival, assistant drove cart to my vehicle. Amenities here are first-class. Rental clubs (LH) were Calloways with stiff steel shafts and included a dozen Srixion balls and range balls. My only negative comment is that most of the clubs were dirty and some caked with mud. I would recommend the staff clean the clubs prior to next rental. Removable drink bucket was a plus and it was filled with ice too!

Went for 36 holes from New Orleans. The quality of the course was worth the 40 minute drive. Greens were in amazing shape and the fairways were well kept. We traveled from New Orleans to play a prepaid online golf tee time of 1:12 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024; our round took a very long and hot 4 hours and 33 minutes, waiting on nearly every shot due to a fivesome of hackers that the pro shop had allowed to go off two groups ahead of us. That fivesome backed-up the entire course, and our call to the pro shop yielded no action, just a bland “sorry.” We may not be back to Carter for such poor management; fivesomes should be banned!!!

I booked a tee time and paid to play by myself. The marshal at the first said “Sir, is it just you? Congrats your group just doubled” forcing me to play with a man and his wife without even asking. This guy said he had two different eye contacts in so he couldn’t really see where his ball was going. Spent the entire front 9 looking for balls blindly. Very unpleasant listening to a person cuss at themself on the golf course, all to get to the end of nine and say”stick a fork in me, I’m done.” . The course was really nice, I would just like to control my own company.

The off duty Marshalls ,who are allowed to play the course FOR FREE, are the most entitled group of golfers on the course. They complain about every thing they perceive as an inconvenience and waste no time “threatening “ your group that they are a Marshall as well as threatening to get you thrown off the course. The off duty Marshall I’m referring to had a tee time at 9:00 am on Friday April 26. Straw hat and velcro shoes. In the future my group of 6 will reconsider what course we choose to spend $1,000 at.

We got married here in April and Lauren was amazing! From all the planning to the execution both before and day of it was all just fabulous. She is incredibly nice and sincere, and loves her job! I heard so many great things about her and the crew from my guests. She's also a lot of fun to work with! The resort itself is beautiful, very well maintained and clean. Haven't played Carter Plantation since it opened way back when. Weather has finally cooled off in the afternoon, so I took my wife, 4yo and 2yo to play as many as I could get in before dark/enjoy a good golf cart ride. Can't beat the $35 twilight greens fee. Forgot to grab a Gatorade for the kids at the clubhouse. Kids are giving me an earful for the oversight on the first tee, but the starter Mr. Mike comes thru with the save and gives the kids an extra gatorade he has in his cooler. Had an extra cup too. He refused to even entertain the idea me dropping him a few bucks for the favor; super nice guy and saved the round. Course was in great shape; weather was perfect. Kids loved the golf cart ride. Only nitpick would be the tee boxes could be cut a little tighter/closer, but i bet the super is trying to avoid burning the grass with the extreme heat and no rain. Will absolutely be back very soon.

First time playing this course highly impressed by the atmosphere and presentation. The greens were well maintained, challenging yet not overwhelming, and the staff were knowledgeable, helpful and very friendly. The real star of the show was the clubhouse restaurant for me.. Whoever back in the kitchen created the Maui Burger... My hat goes off to you. Definitely deserve a James beard for that one. Would definitely come back just for the food.. All in all 5 outta 5!!!!!

Member here — The course itself is beautiful, it has its challenges but it is also forgiving. It also features some of the best greens in the surrounding area (including Nola). The practice area is VERY nice. Where this course loses 2 stars and earns its 3 star rank is the tee time management. Im a member, and over the past 6-8 months I’ve maybe completed 3 rounds at the course. I play 3-4 times a week, and it’s 100% due to how poor the tee time management and pace of play have become. It doesn’t matter if you have a mornint, mid day or evening tee time… at your designated time there will likely be one if not two groups teeing off, the average time of play for 18 has been 5* hrs for some time now. In fact, I ’ve left after 3-4 holes to go to surrounding courses to play an average paced 18 holes. (With the 25 min drive to oak knoll and playing 18 holes; I still finished before I was project to at Carter.)
If you want a GREAT place to practice or can get one of the first two tee times of the day, Carter is your place. If you value your time, like to get in a groove when playing, and don’t want to wait for every tee box, fair way, or green then maybe try other courses in the are.
Hopefully they get this figured out because they have so much potential.

I got married at Carter Plantation in April 2022 and it was the best decision we could’ve made!!! Carter has always been such a special place for me and my husband, and we knew it would be the perfect place for our wedding, but we didn’t know that it would end up being everything we had dreamed and so much more!!! The event team at Carter gave everything to make sure our night was perfect. Lauren was an angel sent from above and went above and beyond to meet my every need! From always being there to manage and tend to our large family and wedding party to making sure every detail of my wedding vision come to life even better than I’d planned, or even racing over to my villa to bring me a comb for a hair malfunction right before pictures🥹, she was such a blessing and pleasure to work with! Coming from someone who used to coordinate weddings, my expectations were high and she far exceeded them!! Danielle, Nicole, and Victoria did an amazing job as well! They truly made an impression on all of our friends and family and helped make our experience one they will all be talking about for ages!! Danielle consistently made sure me and my husband and our families were taken care of and always had a drink or whatever we needed. There is no better team to trust with such an important event!!! The entire weekend was flawless! We had our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner Friday night, a round of golf for the guys Saturday morning, wedding Saturday night, and brunch Sunday! It made everything so easy to have our family and wedding party stay in the villas for the weekend so we didn’t have to go anywhere from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning! Not having to worry about travel in the midst of all that craziness is a lifesaver! We got married in the atrium and had our reception in the ballroom and everything was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! I can’t say it enough; our wedding at Carter Plantation was a DREAM COME TRUE! The best staff, the best food, the best venue, the best value—I mean seriously, none compare!!!!

It was my first time playing this course yesterday and it was absolutely horrible. The whole course was a mud hole and they charged full price for a round knowing that it was unplayable. It should have been closed or even a 50-75% discount offered. The best part of the golf course was the greens and scenery. I’ll start by letting you know I never review a place unless it’s the shizzle......

This place is awesome. If you like red meat, do yourself a favor and go the the grill on steak night (thursday), order the ribeye. They know how to cook a proper medium rare to perfection. If you have ordered a steak medium rare as many times as I have, only to have it over cooked, you know what I mean. All of the food there is really good, club is best sandwich.

If you are a golfer, the course is always great and in my opinion getting better with new ownership. Greens rolling fast and true, cheap twilight fees. Simply put, is the best of the area course, BR included. Im on the good side of golfers and know what I’m talkin bout, 2 handicap.....

The villas are awesome also, way better than a local BR or NOLA hotel. Lynette is awesome!

Layout like everywhere else in south La. Millions of c.y. of dirt hauled so it doesn't flood and to create some sense of elevation change.
