I liked this gym at first, but then realized their billing practices are EXTREMELY predatory and scammy, and when you speak to a person about it they always blame their app for it and "can't do anything to help."

I paid my membership 2 days early and was charged 15$ for no reason. I was not informed that I was charged this fee, or for what. My balance was 28.33$ when I paid and the app said nothing about additional charges. I received no notifications, messages, or emails about the extra charge. I only found out when I double checked my balance the day before my membership was due and saw that I still owed half my membership. I'm sure they were hoping I didn't notice so they could charge me a late fee when my full membership wasn't paid. They probably do this to a lot of people who don't notice. When I called I was told the fee was from a previous payment problem from months before. Which is BS because I had just paid the entire yearly service fee so that I could reactivate my account after having frozen it for a few months. I was told they could do nothing about the fees, to call billing to have them resolved, so I called billing and was told by them that I had been lied to, that billing could not waive fees, that it was the responsibility of a manager to do so. When I tried to call the manager back I was put on hold and left there for an hour. I canceled my membership through billing right then, but was still charged a late fee on my membership.

If everything is the fault of your app, then maybe you should FIX YOUR APP??? But no, you don't want to do that, because that means you won't be able to scam people out of fake fees and trick people into paying late fees on their membership.

When I first joined, I was genuinely impressed—despite a few initial oversights, like not receiving a gym tour that many others apparently did. I chose to overlook that. I even pay for personal training. However, what’s becoming increasingly difficult to ignore is the clear lack of attention to basic maintenance issues—issues like perpetually broken equipment and an air conditioning system that seems to be more decorative than functional.

What’s particularly frustrating is that, rather than addressing these very visible problems, there appears to be a growing emphasis on pushing overpriced supplements. It’s disappointing, to say the least, that paying members are expected to tolerate subpar conditions while the focus shifts to profit over experience. Customers shouldn’t have to suffer for what feels like mismanagement.

If you’re thinking about joining Club4Fitness, please read this first. I trained with the same trainer for a long time, and he was the only reason I stayed. When he left, I told management right away that I did not want to pay for another month without my trainer.

Instead of listening, I was told I will be billed — even after I cited Louisiana law (La. R.S. 51:1577), which lets you cancel immediately when your fitness services materially change. Losing your trainer is definitely a material change, no matter how management tries to spin it.

I also brought up concerns about the club’s growing push to sell supplements and was argued with and told that “every time I pay my bill, I am being sold to.” That showed me exactly where their priorities are.

This gym dismissed my concerns and ignored state law. My experience was extremely unprofessional, and I hope this review helps others make an informed choice.

It gets the job done, but I got list of issues

No matter what time you go it’s PACKED. I went at 11am on a Tuesday and you are bumping shoulders with the next person. I’d hate to see what rush hour looks like.

Too small/Not enough “free space” in the gym.

The gym etiquette is awful. 15 ppl are working out directly in front the weight rack. (Then again where else would they workout? There’s no space.) No one wipes anything down. No one re racks weighs.

The staff acts like you’re bothering them every time you ask them a question.

I never got a tour of the gym when I signed up.

It’s not very structured. At my old gym, the leg machines were with the leg machines. Arms with arms, etc. it’s like remixed at Club 4. Machines are randomly dispersed.

The only pro I have is that it’s decently clean overall. But being here makes me wish there was a Crunch in Lafayette. I liked it much more.

Great gym but the people literally being allowed to yell on phone calls taking up 8 machines in one direction around him is unacceptable. no one from club4 asked him to quiet down and you could hear him over the loud music and over noise canceling headphones. There is a sign asking people toconfine phone calls to the wait area as well. Considering if this membership is even worth it anymore if this is the new norm. People are here to work out not be unable to use machines or interrput others' workouts due to lack of consideration/self-awareness.

The club is very nice and clean. Staff and trainers are very friendly. I wish you would have a trainer or staff member walk through machines and show you how to properly use them. The complimentary meeting with the trainer was a sales pitch for personal training. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, but not everyone wants that service.

What can I say? I have belonged to several clubs over the years. Club4 is at the top! From the instructors (Dani, Amy, Brian, April- and I know I’m leaving some out!!!) to the trainers (Leslie, Suzanne, and SO MANY MORE!) to the front desk staff (Trey, Will, and the rest of the gang)- the BEST! This place is my home away from home. And any time I have had an issue, they listened and either fixed the issue or explained the change. Only wish- steam room/sauna (I hear the new branch will have it!!! 🫤) Thank you guys for all you do!

Became a member a few years ago when the gym was new (-ish) and not so crowded. All the equipment was in great condition and the staff at least attempted to seem friendly. At this point the gym is way too crowded to go at any decent hour and the equipment could be in better shape. On top of this, the gym tries selling their own line of supplements, which are prominently displayed as you enter and exit the gym, classes and personal training sessions. I’m not exaggerating when I say that during the busiest times of the day you will be brushing shoulders with people because it is so crowded. I feel bad for someone just getting into fitness and having this gym be their first experience with a gym. Additionally, the management does a terrible job of actually enforcing their own policies. I get that it’s hard after staffed hours but whenever wannabe fitness influencers come in with their tripods after 8pm recording everyone something needs to be done. Men’s Locker room in terrible shape.

Overall, I am satisfied with Club4. However, my favorite Precore elliptical machine has been out of order for 6+ months, & the TV hasn't been hooked up on any of the Precore ellipticals for a year now- despite my repeated requests to multiple staff members to please reconnect TV to those machines! My only other complaint is the lack of floor space/any designated area to do floor exercises & stretching. The biggest perks for me is having TVs on (most) of cardio equipment & the group classes.

Great gym with knowledgeable staff. The free weights, machines, and other exercise equipment are always in great shape. Locker and restroom are clean. 24 hour access! This is a great gym. I also appreciate the lack of TVs blaring 24 hour news.

I was a member for around 10 months when I decided I had enough of the unhelpful and rude staff. I went in person requesting my membership to end. They said that I could not cancel until it had been a year and that if I did not renew I would stop being charged. My year ended and the charges never stopped despite calls to the gym. Then a fee of over $80 was added for gym maintenance. I went in person and was told that the membership I had only needed a 30 day notice to cancel, and that the one year rule was not a thing with my membership plan. I asked to cancel. They said it cannot be done in person (only online). The link they sent me did not work. Eventually I managed to cancel. In conclusion I had to pay those extra months for no reason. I had to pay the next month since me asking to cancel my membership in person did not count towards my 30 day notice. And I had to pay the $80 gym maintenance fee for the next year, despite no longer being a member.

I normally do not write reviews. However I am exhausted and extremely upset. I have been a member of club4 for over 3 years. I do love the gym and some of the employees. They have an extremely high turn over rate. Due to this there is a major lack of communication. I what to warn others before you decide to sign up for PT here. As you can clearly see I am not the only one who has had issues. Not only do some of the employees who work the desk and floor need to be trained more on customer service so do some of the PT trainer's. Last year i signed a PT contract paid the first month in advance. Then made my second payment. The trainer I had canceled on me every single saturday within the first month of our contract. However, I know life happens and I tried to be understanding. I continued to work with this trainer. Not long after I was called out to storm cleanup. I let my trainer know 48hr in advance that I would be leaving for work and unable to train. I communicated this to my trainer. Which I do have text messages to pove this. When I came back from work i began to get messages about my account being overdue. I brought it up to my trainer who said he would check my account. Who then later informed me in text messages that I have....that my account was good. Again, I continue to receive messages saying my account was overdue. I then approached the front desk. Employees, checked my account in computer. Who stated my account was up to date and it was fine. I received a email and voice message stating my account for PT was overdue. Which was odd being that I left for storm cleanup. This manger is no longer there. Which i have proof emails. I called the manager. He explained to me that my account was overdue and that if I went in that day to pay a $100 he would stop the charges because I explained I was out of town for work. I went in that day, paid a $100 and they set me up with another trainer. Trained twice with the new trainer. Mind you, I had built sessions because I was out of town. That friday they decided to charge my card $565 my bank threw it out as fraudulent charges. Which was an odd amount, because I only signed up for 3 months. They were trying to charge and extra month. Not only that the agreement made with the PT manager was a lie. I have tried multiple times to fix this issue. I have been met with no compromise. Left running in circles. They turned the account over to collections after continuing to up charge me until my PT overdue balance was at $965. This is ridiculous. I refuse to pay for services not rendered. Be very careful before you sign this contract. Apparently it doesn't matter if you say your leaving for work. It doesn't matter if you trainer cancels randomly without 24 hour notice However you as a customer have to follow the contract. 🙄 fast forward to last week. Continued to workout there. No one is going to bully me for money. So I Continue to walk in and train by myself. The manager decided while I was working out after an hour of being there.... he came up to me and asked me to leave said I could no longer workout there because of my over due PT balance. I said ok I'll cancel he said I could not because of my over due balance. Apparently the proof I have isn't enough 🙃 The lack of communication is unreal. I was asked for documentation of freeze on my account. Which I do not have because when I stated in advance I was leaving for work no one not even my PT trainer or PT manager informed me that I need to fill out a document for a freeze. It took a year for this to be communicated to me. It also doesn't matter if you inform your trainer. Apparently you have to state put my account on freeze i need a document!! I advise this as well!! It doesn't matter if you only signed for 3 months they will continue to charge you!!! You have to cancel the PT 30 days in advance and in writing and in email and by call!!! Keep all documentation!! If you do decide to sign up!!! None of this was communicated to me!!! Please becareful. I am warning others so that you are not taken advantage of like I was.

Great track to walk around and plenty of of walking machines, bikes, etc. love to workout at hub city from Tuesday. You never have to wait more then a .2 minutes to use a machine. Pitiful service from Kali. Walked up while she was in a conversation with a coworker and waited for them to finish. Not once did she look straight and acknowledge me just continue chatting, even though I stood directly in front of her obviously wanting to ask something (the red light machine which requires them to press a button). After being ignored I turned and left. She made no effort to stop me, just kept chatting with her coworker. The gym is too crowded now and they’re blocking up chunks of equipment to have classes in the gym. Cancelling membership. Finding somewhere else. Thanks Kali. The service at Club4Fitness is a total letdown, with numerous ongoing issues. There’s a severe lack of variety in fitness classes, and even when they’re available, it’s always the same instructors, which quickly becomes boring and uninspiring. The Stretch 30 class is a prime example—it's practically a joke. It offers little to no value, leaving members feeling like it’s a waste of time. On top of that, the process for canceling or downgrading memberships is a nightmare. People constantly face delays, poor communication, and an unhelpful staff, making it nearly impossible to adjust their plans. Overall, the gym fails to meet expectations in almost every aspect, from classes to customer service.

Absolutely loved the gym at first but I was charged a random $15 “late fee” when my bill was paid ON TIME. I was told to use the billing number to figure out the issues and the manager would wave the $15. Not only was the $15 not waved but I was also hit with another $9 fee. The 888 number goes in circles and is no help. I PAID MY BILL WHAT IS THE ISSUE? Absolutely furious- go to planet fitness not here.

I signed up here 2 months ago, when my gym for the last 2 years notified me that they were closing. I was very apprehensive about starting anew. Club 4 checked all the boxes, the amenities like water massage, red light therapy, showers dressing area and tons of classes really make you want to go there.

Tried to cancel my membership in april after i moved out of state. I later found that i was still being charged monthly fees. After i noticed i called in august to verify my account was cancelled and spoke with a manager who made excuses about why i was still being charged, blaming another company that handles their billing. Now just noticed that i am STILL being charged a monthly fee going into October. This is outright theft. It’s a fine gym if you plan to never move or cancel your membership. Usually very crowded, you will be waiting for your equipment.

How is it possible that a person who does not live in Lafayette and comes from NC has to pay $8 a day if they will only be here for a month? If that is the case and they would have to become a member, how is it possible that they charge the annual fee? They should be a little more considerate and only charge for the month that the person is here. It is not fair. I liked the gym. I liked the staff. I didn't like being charged $50 to drop my membership down one level. Which I wasn't told when I upgraded it. Because I didn't need to tan anymore. So I canceled, before the billing date and was then charged for another month not realizing there was a 30 day policy. As much as I liked the place I won't be back. Cancelation of services is nearly impossible, especially for the private training. Extra billings and zero help when trying to resolve any issues. The fact that I had to call a third party billing department to cancel just to still be charged 15 days later is ridiculous. The PT is an accumulating non depreciating service. Recently had my first visit to this gym. I signed up for the Club Dance class which I enjoyed. I like that there’s a large variety of classes. Managed to get in a quick arm workout and elliptical workout before and after class. Although the gym was starting to get busy, I never felt overcrowded and I was able to use several machines in a row without having to wait which was nice. I noticed that they have both free weights and machines which is a plus to me since I use both. Price is not bad and virtual keytag is convenient.

I've been at Club4 for a few years now. A few issues of mine includes monopolizing entire areas of the gym for fitness classes at prime time when gym attendance is basically standing room only, repetitive broken equipment, and a distinct lack of of any new equipment.

Overall this gym will get you to your fitness goals, BUT, you'll have to do it standing in packs of tripod wielding TikTokers filming their latest PR (lol please enforce your camera policy) and waiting for equipment due to a gym space that is not equipped for the population that attends.

4/10 option for people serious about training.

7/10 price for what it is.

My daughter signed up for a membership 3 years ago. Tried to cancel repeatedly on the 888 number they give you. Phone call was all automated and went in circles. Apparently you can sign up at the gym, but cant cancel there.We had to put a stop payment on her checking account. Then received a letter from an attorney from Utah on the money owed. I own three small businesses in Lafayette and I never treat my customers this way. Buyer beware, you can check their BBB report. I will be filing a complaint with them and the FTC

I told my personal trainer, Keegan, that I wanted to cancel my personal training membership and he told me no that he wouldn’t send me the link . I had to hound him more than three times just so he can send me the cancellation link. And I will get charged next month since it’s not within the 30 day grace period . If he sent me the link the first time I asked I wouldn’t have to pay . Talked to Andrew to get a new trainer haven’t heard anything for over a week . Messaged Andrew yesterday, he said I will have a new trainer starting this week and I still haven’t heard from the trainer. I want to cancel my membership so bad, but I am worried I have to go through hoops as stated in the other reviews of this gym just to cancel .

This is the most unprofessional gym I have ever seen. So my job transferred me overseas and I had to cancel my membership. I called by phone 8 months ago to cancel and was told that I’m good, it will be canceled. (Not to mention I paid 4 months without going there and told them I didn’t want anything back, only wanted to cancel) Look at my bank account a couple months later they were still charging me so I put a stop payment through my bank. Now 8 months later I get a call from a debt collector saying $250 was sent to their office by Club4Fittness. if i could put 0 stars i would. first review i’ve ever written because this gym is the most unprofessional business i’ve dealt with. you have to jump through so many hoops to cancel your membership and the gym is not transparent about this AT ALL. its a scam. tried cancelling my membership last november, called billing company like gym told me to, and thought it was cancelled. then received a letter from a debt collector after 0 notice from the gym. the letter stated i owed $132, called the firm and they were very rude. the lawyer said the cancellation needed to be done in writing, which was never told to me by the gym. then Club4 said i need to contact the billing company which again, was 0 help. how is the gym not responsible for this?? this has happened to multiple people, you’d think they fix their mistakes and all be on the same page but i guess that’s too much to ask for.

As a former employee of Club 4 Fitness in Lafayette and somebody who normally does not write reviews of any sort, it’s time to bring a few things to light. I’m at the gym Monday through Friday between the hours of 3:30-6:00 AM. I have a very full schedule and these are the only times available for me to attend the gym on a daily basis. With that said, I plan every detail of my day. If I’m standing at the front desk for 5:10 AM asking for a tanning bed, it’s because this is the only time I have to use an amenity that I pay for. If your 5 AM employee is either not at work yet or on the other side of the gym filling up paper towel holders, this becomes an inconvenience. Solution: two 5 AM front desk employees. This is a corporate company. Either pay your employees to be here or risk losing members. Secondly, please make sure your damn tanning beds, that I pay and wait for, stay closed. The entire 15 minutes is spent adding a one arm workout to my day because I have to hold the cover closed THE ENTIRE TIME! Figure it out Club 4!

I travel a lot and spend a good mount of time at different gyms around the country, day and week passes and military gyms when I am close to a base. I am in Lafayette La this week. I found Club 4 fitness close to my quarters. I was able to secure a week pass for $25.00. excellent bargain. The gym is equipped with the latest gym equipment very comparable to military gyms. The gym is very clean from bathrooms and showers to the main work out floor the staff is friendly and professional. I would recommend this facility and will use this gym again when I am in the area. Beware when you join this gym. I have been paying for this gym, and not even going. My card continued to get charged. I would call the gym , they then would give me an email to write to. The email people would then tell me I needed to talk to the gym. I continued this for months, while all the time, being charged monthly on my card. I called them to get them to do something about it just recently and was told they switched systems and I could now go online and cancel my membership, by the assistant manager, that there was nothing she could do. When asked to speak to the manager, she said he would be telling me the very same thing! I have proof of emails back and forth. I will be turning them over to the better business bureau! They rip you off with the membership cancellation. Oh....and the manager has STILL NEVER CALLED ME BACK!!!! FYI...when you go online to cancel your membership you have to pay the charge before you can cancel it. This gym is not a fair gym when I have proof of emails trying to cancel this membership for a very long time now. BEWARE!!!! Also, I NEVER write reviews, but I had to on this one!!!

If you have an account with this gym they make you jump through so many hoops just to cancel your membership. On top of that they will charge you for an extra month if you do cancel.

Was given this membership as a gift. I did enjoy the times I attended, however, due to schedule conflicts I was not able to attend on a regular basis. I called to inquire about the cancellation of my membership. I was instructed by a team member that I should not cancel, but rather "freeze" the membership. She explained that I must freeze the membership for a minimum of 3 months and that I could call to reinstate at any time. She further explained that billing would not resume until I called to reinstate. She gave specific instruction to log on the mobile app and request a 3 month freeze and again assured me that the billing would not resume until I called to reinstate. I requested the 3 month freeze and did not log back into the app after doing so. Upon looking at banking statements billing resumed over 4 months ago without my knowledge and without my instruction to reinstate. I contacted the local gym and was given a number for the billing company (which was no help). I then went to the gym and a "Member Issue Form" was completed by Matthew and stated that the General Manager Tray Burnside would contact me the next day. He attempted to assist me in cancelling the membership online, but was unable to do so after several attempts due to "website error:. I was never contacted by Trey. I called the next week to speak with Trey and he stated that he was not familiar with the issue and that he sees many issue forms, but does not recall mine. He also stated that Matthew never briefed him of this issue. He explained that I could not receive any reimbursement because I requested the 3 month freeze and that it is policy that billing resumes after 6 months automatically. He stated that I must have misunderstood the team member because no team member would ever give this instruction as it is not the policy for an unlimited freeze. I explained to him that the reason I requested the 3 month freeze because that is exactly what the team member instructed me to do. She explained that I had to request the freeze for the 3 months, but must call to reinstate and that billing would not resume until then. He proceeded to explain that a billing notification was sent through the application notifying me of the date billing would resume. I told him that I have not logged onto the app since I requested the cancellation. Trey explained that I would not be able to receive reimbursement due to the documentation of requesting the 3 month freeze. Once I was finally able to cancel I was charged over $80. I called the local gym and he explained that it was a $53.14 "yearly maintenance fee" as well as 1 month of dues $27.11. I find this very unprofessional as I was mislead to believe that I would be able to freeze until I called to reinstate billing. If I would have known that billing would have resumed after 6 months automatically I would have cancelled as I wanted to in the very beginning. Proceed with caution if you plan to join this organization.

Can’t imagine this gym is any better off in that department if the idea is to lie, and cover up poor management/staff behavior and etiquette instead of addressing what is very obviously destroying the franchise’s reputation at an alarmingly fast rate. We canceled the training one in one. Yet again taken out of my account. Called and asked about it. Was told oh you have to send email to do that. Apparently the people at front desk that work there don’t this. Improper training to say the least.
So we do it on the app. Yet again , still taken out of our account. Asked about it. Oh … it takes 15 days . Yes people 15 days to take effect. Yet again was not not told this by trained people that work there.

My wife had the worst experience on this gym ever, you can not train with friends because they consider you are personal trainer and they cancel your membership and block your access without previous notification. Managers allow all of this without a proper investigation. I think some trainers envy the way some customer train and they put and eye on you. Due to life changes, I decided it was best to cancel my membership in the meantime. I called Club 4 May 25, and spoke directly with someone. I was told my membership was canceled, and no further action needed to be taken. Well, I recently realized that I was still being charged for a membership that I was assured was canceled. I called and spoke with a manager, and was basically told that there is nothing that they can do, and I have to cancel on the app (something I was not told when I initiated the cancellation). Not only that, to add insult to injury, I was told that not only would I not be reimbursed for the months I should not have been charged for, but I will also be billed for the coming month as well. That is unacceptable! I am usually not one to complain, but the way this entire lack of communication has been handled is unbelievable. Better training is definitely needed. I have been in customer service for 20 plus years, and this should have been handled better. Going forward, please make sure your employees are familiar with club policies before wrongly "assisting" your members. The gym itself is ok (lots of equipment, classes), which is fine to attain customers, but it's how you handle your customers after they sign up that retains them.

I’m writing this review because Club4Fitness Lake Charles Location can no longer be reviewed for some reason. I was banned and my membership was cancelled for leaving a negative review of staff members. I have read similar reviews from this location and would like to warn others that this gym is the equivalent to GloboGym in the movie Dodgeball. Staff members are protected by a membership policy that states that you can be terminated for any violation of gym policy. Including speaking negatively about the gym or staff members. Be warned. Horrible customer service. No-one answers the phone. I have call logs from different days with 10-20 calls with no-answer during business hours. No-one returns your calls. Continues to charge your account after signed cancellation agreement. No COVID compliance or sanitation by members or employees. No-one wearing masks (including employees) or wiping down equipment. However, it is decent equipment and setup if you are willing to risk it.

Edit: The only response I've gotten in over a month has been to this review. What about asking the regional to respond to my voicemails and emails I've already submitted through the website instead of asking me to send another email.
