Let my tell you a little bit about my gym! I've been going to crunch for 3 years now religiously.. the STAFF are absolutely AMAZING! The friendliest group of people I've honestly ever met.. it doesn't feel like I'm going to the gym it feels like I'm coming home. The impact these people have had on my life is unmatched and I honestly don't know if they really even realize that! Hands down the best gym I've been to and I've been to plenty of them! Just go sign up... you won't regret it!

I really like Crunch, it's easily the best gym I have ever been to. It's very clean and the maintenance team works fast. It has free weights and many options for working out. There were some problems with the men's room sauna from time to time but other than that it's a great gym! If it weren't for those men's room sauna issues it'd be 5 stars!

After the experience I had, I'm definitely cancelling my membership. I cancelled my personal training services the beginning of July. July 25th I was still charged $270. They kept saying they would give me a refund. Fast forward today another $270 was taken out and I still haven't received the refund from July. Their response, "we don't have a PTD, and we can't process refunds." UNACCEPTABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!! $540 taken for nothing......

Update: Still no resolution. I'm still out of $540.00. I have been calling and going to the gym and no one can help me. I have sent two emails as well.

Update: They only refunded me $270.00. I never got the other $270.00 back.

Have been a member for two years. When i first joined it was great. The last year or so it has gone downhill and seems to be getting worse. All of the reviews about machines being broken is 100% accurate. The remain down for months at a time. It is impossible to get a full leg workout in at this gym. The facility itself is great and the equipment is fantastic (when its no broken). Plenty of free weights and platforms. Not enough attachments for cables and the attachments they have are not in the best conditions.
The floor is bubbling in some spots especially around the bench area. The mens locker room is always absolutely disgusting. I have seem the same chunk of nasty hair in a sink for 3 days straight. Urine always on the ground. Out of paper towels and soap all the time. Slime building on wall under hand dryer. The bench in the bathroom has been missing for at least 4 months. You would think they would replace the bench so you dont have to put you stuff on the floor that never gets cleaned. I canceled my membership and will be going elsewhere.

I am posting here because unfortunately after several phone calls, in-person trips, emails, and a lot of stress, this Crunch Fitness establishment has done nothing to help me. (TLDR at the bottom of this post)

For context: I took an internship last summer here in Baton Rouge, and figured I would stay on top of my fitness goals while I was here for 2 months.

I was supposed to sign up for the month to month, but I guess even their website is confusing, as I accidentally selected the 12 month membership. I thought, oh well, honest mistake. I can talk to someone here about it. So I did. I was told I had to wait the full twelve months before closing the account. I chalked it up to a loss, and asked if I could fill out paperwork to get my membership cancelled in June of this year, at its expiration. I did sign papers (IN A GREEN NOTEBOOK NEXT TO OTHER CANCELLATIONS IN CASE SOMEONE WHO WORKS HERE ACTUALLY READS THIS), along with one of my colleagues who I was with at the time.

I eventually called again at some point last year to confirm the cancellation. Fast forward to July, and I was still getting charged for payments. I paid it, thinking maybe it would be the last.

There wasn't an option online to cancel under my account, so I figured I was ok. So I called to double-check, and was promised my membership would be closed by an assistant manager on staff. I understand that there is a policy that restricts cancellations to in person only, but seeing as I am 4 hours away from this place at all times by now, that isn't an option. You can check my visit history and confirm I haven't been in over a year. Hence the paperwork filled out last year, as a precaution for this happening. It is now August, and I am still getting charged. I have blocked all future billings from this establishment, and have been getting email after email about late fees and penalties. I sent an email to support, to no answer. So now I am here.

TLDR: This location does not care about you. They will not take you seriously, and they will rob you blind if you aren't careful. Customer support treats you like an annoyance.

Also, the reviews about the equipment is spot on, half of it is broken, the spa area smelled like sewage when I went, and the water station barely worked for the whole 2 months I was there. Avoid this location at all costs.

So about a month ago one of the employees told me that they canceled my membership online before my 30 days was up. Never told me that I had to go in person to cancel my membership. I wake up this morning and over $80 was taken out of my account. Manager would not talk to me on the phone but instead had me on hold to talk to an employee very unprofessional. You should always tell a customer that they have to show up in person to cancel their membership. Such a shame great gym but horrible customer service.

One of the nastiest gyms in BR. Never cleaned, no paper towels to clean any equipment. Broken equipment for months at a time. Staff doesn’t care, only a couple good trainers who actually care to do something. None of the members clean up after themselves. The sinks in the bathroom are brown as well as the floor.

I recently moved to Baton Rouge, so I used a visitor’s pass to check out the gym. The crowd started to arrive around 4:15 am & by 5:00 am it was ridiculously crowded. Many of the machines were broken. Most of the paper towel dispensers & disinfectant sprays were empty and the host/employee was the opposite of friendly. I also noticed that most of the guys carried their gym bags around (from machine to machine) and that’s a serious problem. I had to look down while walking to machines just to make sure I didn’t trip over someone’s bag. The only positive I would say is that it’s a large beautiful gym with a lot of potential. I hear other location are better, but this one isn’t worth the membership.

Decent equipment when it’s working and a couple of good trainers. That’s the only positives about this place. The equipment stays broken for months at a time. The gym is always dirty with trash everywhere. The bathrooms are disgusting. The staff makes no effort to pick up anything or replace paper towels when they’re empty or spray bottles when they’re empty. I blame it on poor management. It might be cheap but you get what you pay for. I have been a member for a few years and kept telling myself it would get better but it hasn’t. I’m giving up and looking for a new gym.

Decent gym with a good variety of equipment but the upkeep here is horrible. If you workout in the early morning there’s no paper towels to wipe down equipment. The locker rooms & gym floor are wrecked with trash and there’s been equipment broken in this gym for months. Not to mention I've been maneuvering around screws in the locker room floor that still remain from a broken bench. Instead of installing a new bench there’s just a wet floor sign placed over the exposed screws. Cmon man. The staff is pretty chill though. So thats boosts this rating to 3 stars lol.

Machines are constantly broken, seems crazy to spend $90 annually for them to never replace/fix things. Everytime I come the leg extension/leg curl is broken. Vibes are good and employees are chill, they have plenty of amenities for the price. Not nearly enough handles for cable machines, not a single wide MAG handle for any back workout and that’s super lame. Edit: had to come back to this review to lower my rating. Nothing has been fixed and I workout at least 4x a week. Went to workout 3 days ago and this time both of the only leg extensions were broken, leg curl was broken, hip abductor was also broken. So trying to do leg day is pretty much non existent after hack squat, hip thrust, and squats unless you just want to do free weights. Also they actually have 1 single MAG grip that they keep behind the counter, which is totally fine but regardless still not enough by any means. Whoever manages this should start fixing things immediately but I doubt that’ll happen. Will probably switch gyms soon.

No customer service skills at all I went to the counter twice to get help with the hydro bed. the guy at the counter ignored me and another young lady for at least 5 minutes then lifted his head to say “I’ll be right with you “ I just felt that was very rude if there is a customer waiting on you you should Acknowledge them. So I ended up walking away and trying to till the young lady was available to help me but she was no longer at the desk . So I went back to the guy but this time him and another employee were having a conversation he saw me and continued his conversation till they were done then came to help ! AGAIN very rude I work in retail that’s not how you treat a customer

I have never even been to this gym — or to that state — yet they keep charging me and threatening to send me to collections. I had to pay $69 just to avoid this, and that’s not even the main issue.
I tried to resolve the situation over the phone multiple times: either no one answers, or they answer and promise to call back but never do. I sent over five emails requesting to cancel the membership.
However, they require you to either cancel in person or send a physical letter — which is ridiculous because I have never even been to that state.
They make it extremely difficult to cancel and refuse to properly assist customers. Stay far away from this gym!

I went into the location because they don’t allow to cancel your membership over the phone. The lady at the front had nasty attitude and stated she wasn’t able to process it , so I would have to wait on someone else to come up. One associate was on lunch and the other was on a call. I asked how long would it be before someone could help me she caught an attitude.

I was canceling my membership because theirs only one location in Baton Rouge and it’s always too packed during the times I’m available to go. So once I get there all the equipment I use are being utilized. This happened on several occasions so I just made a decision to cancel the membership.

Crunch is a great place to work out at but horrible when it comes to communication and assistance concerning membership payments. When the snow hit Baton Rouge towards the end of January, I went into Crunch days earlier and informed them that I wanted to make a payment arrangement for my yearly fees the 1st week of February, which would fall on the 6th or 7th, and was told 'my account was notated'. I went ahead and made a payment for my monthly fee in cash during that time (they were set to come out on 2 different days). 2 to 3 days BEFORE I was set to come into the gym to make the payment, my account was drafted and I was assessed nsf fees, etc. When I called and asked what was going on because I'd already ok'd my payment with them, I was told "We have no control of what our 3rd party company does." I was NEVER TOLD about a 3rd party company until my issue happened. I informed them that after everything was corrected, I would come in and make the payment in cash which didn't happen because they attempted AGAIN to make the payment. By this time I was pissed! I called them and tried AGAIN to get my payment straight and even asked for phone numbers that they don't seem to have to speak with ABC (aka '3rd party) or management (they don't have that either) to see what I can do to get my account straight. After all of this and having 'more' late charges assessed because 'someone forgot to add them on' (is what I was told today), I cancelled my membership on yesterday. I also found out today that this crap affected my credit! I made SEVERAL calls this morning to speak to a manager or get a number for the general manager and was told that I would get a call back only to get a response from the person working the desk. So if this is how you're going to treat your customers, it ain't worth coming there.

I'm December of 2024 i signed up online for a Peak membership. My first visit was on or around January 3rd. I was introduced to a personal trainer. The trainer and I discussed an option that we were going to proceed with. Upon going to fill out the paperwork, the PT manager stepped in and asked had i been informed of the current deal. He offered me the option of 3x a week for the discounted rate of $135. He said next i should pay $270 and following that I could downgrade should I choose to. I then explained i could not pay the 270 until the 28th of the month. This date was agreed upon. At that point he gave no further information and left the, new to the company, PT to do the paperwork. I signed Edgar Iwas asked to based on the above discussed arrangement. When the 28th of January came $270 was taken out of my account as planned. Then, on 2/11 another $270 was taken out. I immediately upon seeing this, caked the gym. I was informed by an employee that they would put a manager on. Said manager stated they were surprised money had been taken out. I was told i could speak to a manager to get the charge refunded but in the meantime I could contact my bank. I did so and reported it as an unapproved charge. The bank looked into it and refunded me my money. After this I was then told at the gym that iowed that money because it is supposed to be paid every two weeks. I was not informed of this when I signed up. After this, I said that I wished to downgrade my PT plan. At this time I was then informed I could not downgrade to 1x a week because that was a 6 month contract. Also something I had not been previously informed of. At this time I exasperatedly agreed to 2x a week. My PT and I spent a long time discussing in great detail what this would entail, how much money it would cost, how many more payments i had, and how much longer we would work out together. This was $200 x 2 installments, and our contract would lead us to the end of March. On my contact it states that I paid $200 and had a balance of $200. At this time I also made it clear that I would cancel my overall membership before April's payment, because I was so distraught by all of my dealings with Crunch. I went to the desk and tried to cancel. At this time I was informed that I needed to wait until March to cancel. I very specifically asked for a specific time I should cancel to be sure not to be charged for April. I was informed that I should just come "some time in March." On March 11th I informed the front desk that I wished to cancel before April. She told me I couldn't do that because there was a 30 day window.... I explained myself and she said she would see if they would overwrite it and allow me to cancel anyway. At this time she realized my PT was still in there therefore it would not allow her to cancel. The trainer came over and tried to help but was unable to, so he got the PT manager. The same one who had given me misinformation at the beginning of this whole thing (In January). At this time the manager looks at the account and informs me that I actually have 3 payments of $200 each to make and my sessions would lead into April. I disagreed and explained what had taken place when signing the latest contract. He said that the trainer was misinformed and had counted wing. That I had only paid half of my installments. I again questioned this. He repeated the same information. At this time, very upset I left the gym. I am writing to point out all of the discrepancies in the process and the poor communication as well as training of his employees on the part of the manager. The manager also took no responsibility and kept putting it on the trainer who was I'll trained and misinformed. After all of this I feel as though I was greatly taken advantage of and extremely mislead.

Members and staff are friendly. This is not the case at other gyms. Many other gyms in town like max ,y, and spectrum are much smaller and seem in my opinion to have a crowd psychology of psychological suppression or controll.

Crunch accepts all potential members wether beginner or advanced. This is not the case at many other gyms. This may be why Crunch seems to have more advanced lifters , which seems to be good for the crowd psychology of getting strong.

The equipment and gym itself is cool. I did enjoy when I am able to go. I don't have a problem paying for what I want but don't like how they handle business. I had the highest membership but barely went and all I ever use was the weights and sometimes the elliptical. So I decided to keep my membership but drop to a basic which I went in to change. The person I spoke to did, but it didn't reflect the first month, and after it didn't reflect this month, I went in to cancel my membership and then they said only a manager can do it, so I had to come back. So I did that, now they are saying I will be charged another month, but I don't want to. It's cool, because their business will start to decline, because I got Someone who will fight it since I won't act out like I could. Don't get involved with this gym if you don't want to get robbed by a business.

Drove up to the gym at 2:45 am this morning (Monday) because your hrs on Google say "Open 24 Hours" on Monday, only to find it closed. I mean, really?? Granted, most of us were 6 yrs old when we learned to tell time, but wouldn't "open 24 hrs on Monday" mean you are open from 12:01 am Monday thru midnight on Monday? I did not received help with a missing expensive item of mine that I may have left at Crunch. I asked 3 times for help and to have a look at the cameras to make sure I left it there and to see if someone picked it up. They told me there was nothing they could do. mm? I visited this location while I was in town for the week. The staff here is very non chalant acting. Not one time did they greet are seem welcoming when I came through. And the white guy with beard ingnored me while I waited in line and pointed with his finger instead talking to me. The gym is ok and kind of spacious. They advertise a low trial price and then make it impossible for you too cancel the account. I tried to cancel the account but I have go out of town for work for few months, call each month to cancel they said I had to come in, so the intro price turn into almost $200.

Made it almost impossible to cancel, keep charging you and then want to put on your credit report, WOW.

As a Retired Military l veteran I don't recommend this company.

Quite packed. I started going here thinking it was so large I could always work out without waiting on equipment. But that was wrong. Also the gym only has one water fountain. Could install a few more on the bare wall near the weights and punching bags. Plenty of squat racks but only one set of leg machines. Could easily double them and remove a few of the always available and empty numerous cardio machines. And they don't open early enough on Mondays.there is at least 35-40 people waiting to get in at 5 obviously their clientele wants them to open earlier on a Monday.

Edit: if you come on the weekend, don't expect the staff to be here when it's time to open. They don't believe in punctuality. You'll end up sitting in the parking lot with your face itching after you drink pre-workout very angry.

It’s busy but not so bad you can’t find equipment you need. But there’s lots of things that work to make it unpleasant. They will close early on Friday Saturday and Sunday despite their posted hours which sucks if you hoped to work out later and assumed you had til close and kick you out 15 or min early. And the PA system is loud and super scratchy. Not a big deal much but when they are using it for a class it’s so loud and almost painful and you can hear it through your headphones and it’s louder than your own music. Luckily it’s impossible to understand.

There’s also the surprise fees. By this is America. Gyms are working to screw you however they can. Equipment is broke a lot but it’s big gym and that’s the fault of the clients more than the gym it’s fixed within a week usually.

People are good for a spot. PTs are expensive but not pushy. Don’t request equipment it’s just not coming. Staff is nice about it though.

It’s not the worst gym most workouts are uneventful but every 7th workout or so will have something profoundly unpleasant happen

If it is not true why when I went in and asked before months rolled by to cancel. They stated and I quote everyone is required to pay equipment fee. I asked how much is the equipment fee. They said 150. They said it’s a one time fee for the year. They stated must be payed before I can cancel. Why should I lie about this. I asked to speak to supervisor about it. I got the run around then finally I was told to send an email. No response but steady was trying to charge my card after they claimed to waive the fees. I have proof of all this. Honesty is very important. It makes me mad to respond knowing you not telling the truth. Why would I be trapped if I never visited just signed up with dollars months later 55 dollars out my account. I’m confused. Oh but can’t cancel but shows when first sign up no commitment. If you have to pay something to cancel that is an commitment. I asked why I’m paying equipment fee and never used y’all equipment? I never ever visited not once. That is wrong to do that to people and that hurts my feelings to know people are like that then to validate for yourself by saying something you know not true. Go somewhere with that. I learned my lesson. Thank you for my lesson read and fully understand first before paying or signing anything. There are predators out here who prey on the weak.

If you want plenty of professional, confident women at the gym you attend, go here! I go to gyms often and see a high disparity in the men to women ratio, and sometimes that can make me uncomfortable with my body - sexist I know. Nonetheless, pleasantly surprised not the case here. Keep in mind this is just my experience after two weeks there or so. The facilities are nice and for the most part we'll maintained. The staff, however, have basically ignored me or pushed me to the side whenever possible. Signed up on line foe their high tier membership, and went in on the first day...scanned in with the app but not a single person acknowledged me on their staff. Went to use the hydro massage and was ignored for 5 minutes until the person at the desk finished their meal and came and helped. It wasn't until five visits later that someone realized that I didn't have an ID picture so they got it done and then set me up with their kickoff. Came in for that...the trainer ignored me as I stood there awkwardly as they ate taco bell at appointment time, so I went and worked out only to see in my email that they marked it complete, I guess to charge the $10. If you go to the gym here, don't waste your money or time on the trainers

I couldn't go because I was sick. But when I was able to go to cancel it since I was not going to use it, they charged me triple, I paid them a portion and I told them that I did not need it and I told them about my surgery but they did not cancel it nor did they care about my health and Until this time my debt continues to rise because they don't want to cancel it. I left PF for Crunch because I wanted more community and light, which this location provides. PF is a bit gloomy. There is always a recruitment sale here, so it's packed from 5-7. They are slow to keep cleaning materials stocked throughout the gym. Critical leg equipment is broken for more than a month. I wouldn't put anything in their lockers unless you have your own lock. There are theives on staff. I came in to an employee wearing headphones I lost and reported for several days. They deliberately lied about having them. Other staff had to threaten them to give them back. Overall, it's brighter, but not better than PF.

Just got around to this review. I paid beaucoup money to have personal training this past year. The personal trainers have zero communication skills. They promise a fitness plan and dietary plan, but don't deliver. My trainer constantly canceled on me at the last minute or changed things around where I had to move my schedule. I had covid and called to cancel a day before and they charged me for the session..Funny how, they can get away with canceling on me when I am walking in the door, but I call them them to prevent the spread of covid and they charge. I have been a member for about 5 months now. I love the group classes. I attend spin at least 3-4 days a week. Recently it has been extremely hot in the ride studio. You break a sweat before the class even begins. Clearly the AC is not working properly in the studio. There is one fan that is in use. There needs to be at 2-3 fans available. The ceiling fans seem to be set on the lowest setting as well. They gym floor and other studio is set at the perfect temperature.
