We had a group of 4 guys, all middle aged and average fitness, do a private session with Action (the trainer). Great combination of a solid workout mixed in with sparring and some technique. It’s an old school feel and a ton of fun. He brings his experience down to our level and we had a great time. Killer workout.

Action is an excellent trainer! Only come here if you’re looking for a professional trainer with boxing expertise. This is not kickboxing folks, Action is the real deal and he has many professional fights under his belt. You don’t have to be a professional fighter to train here though, he trains all levels of boxing. I have been training with Action for over 10 years and he is amazing! Whether you’re just training to stay in shape or training for a professional fight, this is the place.! I give him 10 stars⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have worked with Action for 8 years, starting at the age of 72. He was willing to work with me even though I was an elderly Parkinson's patient. He was gentle but forceful in brining me along the path of a well trained boxer. While I don't fight competitively, Action has brought me to the point where other teachers are impressed with my boxing ability. I would recommend him to anyone who wants to be trained by the best. Plus he's cute and speaks French.

I've been going to Le Boxeur Gym for over four years. As a former lazy person, Action has really helped motivate me to wake up early in the morning and get a good workout in. Action is a great trainer that sees your strengths and helps you improve your weaknesses. He's become a friend as well. I've met a lot of really great people at this gym. I even trained while I was pregnant! The small session size makes each workout more meaningful - physically and mentally. Thankful for Action and the gym!

Le Boxeur Gym is in my opinion the best gym in the City. I have been working with Action for over 20 years and he is an amazing and professional trainer. The workouts are intense. I have lost more than 60lbs in 3 months and I didn’t expect to lose that crazy amount of weight so fast and look so fit but also that I would have so much energy, learn self defense, lose a ton of weight and even get healthy eating advice. This is a true boxing 🥊 gym (old school) and you get more than just cardio. The environment, the knowledge, and the workouts are top tier and the techniques are an extra bonus….you get results. l recommend this gym and this trainer to everyone and anyone. I’ve been training with Action consistently for 15 years. It has been nothing short of life changing for me. I am stronger physically and mentally. The training is customized to each individual’s skill level. The better you get- the harder it gets. Summer sweat sessions in the ring are intense and in my opinion the best, most rewarding training. I've been training with Action for a couple of years. It has been one of the best investments/experiences I've been apart of. This place is more than gym its family. Action is very humble, kind and knowledgeable. Every time I train, I learn something new about boxing as well as life. The lessons I learn I apply it in my daily life. Action is an excellent trainer! He is honest, respectful and humble! He’s been in the boxing world many years and he knows what he’s doing. My sister and I lost more than 70lbs each in less than 6 months! We didn’t measure our foods or anything. We just ate whole foods mostly;however, Actions specialized boxing workouts definitely made us think twice about eating garbage! I can’t say enough good things about Le Boxeur Gym and Action! I highly recommend.

I dropped in back in September when I was in town for a conference. I had the toughest boxing class of my life and I mean that as a full compliment! Old school, no AC, constant movement. If I lived in New Orleans I'd be here and I'd be Rocky in a year. Action had no problem with me dropping in and if I'm ever back in New Orleans I'll visit again!

I've been training with Action for 6 months now and still love it! Action is really friendly and patient and will help you regardless of your experience boxing or working out in general. The gym community is also very friendly and there are lots of regulars that you'll get to know well!
I started with absolutely zero experience boxing and I've made noticeable improvements in not only my boxing skills but my overall stamina/health. The better you get, the more Action will push you so you will keep improving. And if you're looking to lose weight, boxing will melt off more pounds than any other activity. Action knows what he's doing and will train you according to your experience while still pushing you to go further.
The sessions are usually 30 minutes of cardio (sprints, jumprope, ball shuffle) then 30 minutes of mitt work or sparring. It's a lot of hard work but Action will get you through it and it's a lot of fun! Especially sparring. Just give him a call and he'll set you up with a time. His schedule is flexible.

I worked out with Action for over 2 years. He challenged me harder than I could have challenged myself, and I worked muscles I did not even know I had. As a woman, sparring with a heavy weight boxer may sound intimidating. The rounds are intense but never dangerous; Action is skilled at helping you with your offense and defense without getting a black eye! And you get a solid rotation of different exercises each time. I appreciate that Action kept me on a consistent and regular work out schedule that worked well with my job hours. He has an amazing drive, work ethic, and self-discipline, and he is welcoming of all who want to work up a good sweat.

I did my research on boxing gyms, reading reviews and websites, and I will definitely say that I made the BEST choice by selecting Le Boxeur Gym. For the record, I’m from Houston and was visiting NOLA for a week. Additionally, I’m in my mid-40s, not as fit and trim as I once was, and wanted to take private lessons with someone who had years of experience. I’ve had some prior boxing experience, but had been 10+ years. I decided to train with Matt (‘The Coach’) because I wanted to focus on boxing technique, endurance and strength; again, I made the best choice.
Matt is one of the most intuitive people I’ve trained with. In about 5 to 10 minutes he knew everything from my personality to my taste in music. He has such a good sense/read of the person he is training, and of what they’re capable, and oh man does he push you without using what I call shame tactics. These are the qualities to look for in a trainer because he will customize based off of your strengths and weaknesses.
I trained with Matt for three days only, and while the warm-up was the same, everything the last 50-minutes was a surprise. Training with him makes one realize why boxing is called the “sweet science”; plus he’s super smart, and a good conversationalist. The gym itself is pretty raw, meaning no A/C; however, it has everything you need to box (different types of bags, ring, etc.) and to train in boxing (weighted gloves, dumbbells, etc.).
My recommendation is just go and train, with either Matt or Fred. I met Fred, the boxer, who looks intimidating, but is a friendly and approachable guy. I’ve already told a couple of friends who live in NOLA about my experience, and I plan on training here again when I return in October. This is an amazing opportunity (and price) for the training and experience they offer.

I've been working with Matt for a little over a month now and words can't describe how much I respect everything he has done.
All aspects of my life have vastly improved since I decided to take up boxing. The folks at Le Boxeur are more than trainers... they quickly become your friends and mentors.
Le Boxeur has become a sort of a safe-haven where all my troubles just melt away after an intense workout. If you are serious about getting fit, I cannot say enough in favor of Le Boxeur.

I have been training for the past 2 months with Matt at the gym. Matt has gone above and beyond with my training. It is good to know that there is a personal level of commitment from the trainers at the gym. The focus is not on just burning calories and getting you into shape, but also on improvement in boxing. Le Boxeur is not just any regular go to gym and do group boxing classes it is the real deal. Le Boxeur is all about personalization, I have been training with Mr. Matt for past three months five days a week and all I can can say is that he is gold. I just love this place because Mr. Matt is so flexible, focused and really personalizes my workout according to my needs not only that but also advises me on my nutrition and daily diet, a very knowledgeable man in every aspect of Boxing and physical education.
In the end all I can say is that I am a completely changed man than what I was three months back, my mind, body and soul is finally at peace thank you Mr. Matt god bless!!!

One of my New Years resolution was to try something different in my workout routine. I never thought boxing was for me. Two sessions in and I've been hooked ever since. Such a great workout! Great place to work out. I always try to stop in for a session when I'm visiting New Orleans. If you're traveling to NOLA for work or a vacation I'd definitely recommend scheduling a session. The Le Boxeur team does a great job customizing the workout to your fitness and skill level. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

I have been training at Le Boxeur for over two months now and see no end in sight. I usually get bored with gyms and work outs pretty quickly. This has not been the case for me at Le Boxeur. Since the beginning I have lost over 25Lbs and counting, my endurance has quadrupled, and I have learned a skill in the process. Big Fred is an excellent trainer and you get one on one training here for a class price cost. It's an unbeatable value if you're looking for a REAL workout with REAL results with a personal training atmosphere. I recommend this to anyone wanting to get off the couch and get in shape or to the workout fanatic that's looking for the next "fix." Neither parties will be disappointed.

The people at Le Boxeur are truly somewhat hidden gems. The highlight of my Summer has been the training sessions with Matt. He is the manager of Big Fred the boxer you also get to train with. Matt pushes further me each time I go, with something new and more rewarding than before. Both Fred and Matt love training, and so do all of the people who train there. It's a one of a kind atmosphere so definitely give it a try if you think you want a fun way to get in shape or even if you want to get serious about boxing, they have something for everyone.

Forget Crossfit or your average, run-of-the-mill personal trainer - if you're looking for a serious workout that will have you looking good and feeling great, Le Boxeur is the way to go! I've been training with Fred for around 10 months and he has really whipped me in to shape. Learning to box has been very rewarding for me - I always found that I would get bored of the endless repetition of a traditional gym but learning a skill like boxing has kept me engaged and excited to show up and sweat every week. Fred is a fantastic trainer and wonderful guy. Training sessions are solo or with one other person and that personal element means your sessions are individually tailored to your fitness and skill level.
