Unfortunately I have to join the chorus of other reviews here reporting negative experiences with the owner of this business.

My experience with the owner was brief, yet striking - in the worst possible way. I came to join someone for the class and immediately was told I would have to buy water from her to join. Never was bringing water mentioned on the registration site as a requirement for entering the class. I am an experienced trekker have trekked for weeks around the world and even climbed a mountain in the Himalayas and I know I do not do well drinking water while exercising as it makes me nauseous, and all my professional guides/Sherpa on my travels have understood that and that everyone has different needs.

Somehow, Adrianne "Ajax"Jackson the owner believes she knows better about what others need for their bodies than they do. As a woman, I do not accept anyone telling me they know my own body better than I do. I refused the water and she said "maybe next time" in a tone dripping with condescension. The entire interaction was extremely unprofessional, rude, and condescending. I do not tolerate trashy business practices or trashy people when I am paying to do a class. Sorry to say, Ajax, but you are the one whose business depends on reviews so you are only hurting yourself by acting the way you do. Let this be a warning to all who consider this place. This owner has multiple reviews including my own about her behavior. There are way better options close by in the city (Free to Be Power Yoga and Yes Yoga are nearby and both have 4.5+ stars on Google and have been in business as long or longer than this place). Buyers beware.

My review keeps being taken down because the screenshot I have contains so much profanity and threats from the studio owner’s texts to me. This is over less than $20. (I took 2 classes after buying online and bought the wrong type of class.) After paying the right amount, I was told to get out of her city and never come back, threats against me personally, called several profanities, and my race was mentioned. I could not believe my eyes. This is … yoga? I also went out of my way to try out what looked like a great studio.

Please do not overlook this magnificent yoga studio group. I was blessed to attend a few various sessions during my two week visit. I was introduced to so many new poses and stretches. I always left improved and rejuvenated. Additionally, the instructors and attendees encouraged and emphasized a welcoming environment for all bodies and abilities. This is a New Orleans special gem!

Amazing hot yoga studio! Was visiting for a long weekend and wanted to keep my practice going. Ajax and her studio could not have been more welcoming. She’s a fabulous instructor who obviously cares deeply about her craft and for her students. Highly recommended!

I've been practicing yoga for over twenty years, finding it a source of peace, balance, and physical well-being. My interactions with the studio owner, Ajax, have been the complete opposite of what yoga should be. She's constantly brash and condescending. When I mentioned taking a break for a few months, she was disrespectful and embarrassed me in front of other members. Later when I tried to talk about the matter with her, she hung up on me. While the instructors seem professional, Ajax's entitled and rude demeanor is a shame. I've spoken with other members who have had the same experience. It's unfortunate that someone running a yoga studio, a place meant for tranquility and respect, behaves like this. 100% would not recommend.

Love this place! Owner Ajax creates an experience with her signature 26 & 2 series that provides instruction on proper posture, form & breathing. Josiah’s Friday vinyasa flow never disappoints. Never the same class and his playlist is always in point. As an active fitness enthusiast, this studio is an integral part of my wellness routine.

I would NOT recommend this place at all, which is shame since it’s black owned but the owner is awful. I’ve never had a pleasant experience with her and my most recent encounter with her has kept from ever returning there. I had been taking classes pretty frequently and realized I was being charged for classes that I was not enrolled in or didn’t attend. after consulting with one of the other instructors, it became apparent that there was another girl with the same name as me who was Taking classes at the studio and when she would come, my card would be charged by mistake. When I had previously dealt with the other instructors, they simply would allow me to come to one of the classes and not charge me for the class to make up from the incorrect charges. The very last time I arrived at that studio I have been charged again for a class I didn’t attend, and at this point the Incorrect charging had happened numerous times and the owner was notified Via text by one of the staff members about the issue and I also emailed her regarding this issue. I arrived at the studio, looking for a refund or Planning to join the class free of charge like I had done in the past, (Not making a big deal out of this, even though my card was continuously getting charged On multiple occasions, and something I really could’ve made an issue out of) this day the owner was at the desk and I already there would be an issue with her because she is just so unpleasant. When I explained this issue (which is something I emailed her about on a separate Occasion) she completely dismissed me and my presence to the point of embarrassment in front of the other patrons. She told if I wanted to join the class I would have to pay or I would have to email her “what I was talking about” even though I had already emailed her about this issue. So I left the studio, frustrated and annoyed not because she wouldn’t let me take the class, but because of how she dismissed me and the tone of voice of which she spoke to me. So I emailed her AGAIN citing my issues and told her I wanted a REFUND for the two classes I have been incorrectly charged for and she offered me two free classes. To which I responed to her “no no no no no I will no longer be returning to your studio after the way you’ve spoken to me and I do not want two Classes I want a full refund” she responded saying that the refund would take 30 days, which I was ok but Do you think I ever saw that Refunded money??? no I did not. She still owed me $70
The other instructors are great and very kind but she is an awful person . I don’t know where’s she from but she’s definitely not from New Orleans because she has no common decency and I do not recommend this studio. I bet if you ever came across someone who had an issue with the studio it was because they met the owner.

Please visit this studio. We had such a good experience as out of town guests with the owner, staff, and studio members alike. Everyone was welcoming and supportive of me as a beginner and my friend as a yogi with years of experience. Ajax offers practical guidance and words of encouragement to all attendees. This place is the community you’re looking for.

I first learned about Magnolia Yoga studio years ago when I met Ajax in NYC. When I moved to New Orleans about a year ago, becoming a member was a no brainer. The instructors at Magnolia are gracious and challenge you to see yourself as capable no matter where you are in your practice. I appreciate the environment that is so beautifully curated and the community of individuals that I practice alongside!

I’ve been practicing the 26/2 series with Ajax for well over 10 years; in fact, I followed her from another studio to Magnolia because I loved her classes the most— for her openness, knowledge and authenticity.
As much as possible, I try to support small, local businesses. Especially women-owned and especially Black-owned. As a white woman (with inherent privilege in this country) who has been practicing at Magnolia since Ajax created this space and community, I have only ever felt acceptance, love, community and support from Ajax, every instructor and teacher I have had and from my fellow practitioners. I highly recommend Magnolia Yoga Studio for your physical, mental and emotional health! Which you then get to share with everyone you encounter throughout your life outside of the studio :)

I love Magnolia Studio! I am still fairly new, having started at Magnolia Yoga Studio in late June of this year, and I have not practiced yoga since my very early twenties. This studio is magic; the driving force—Ajax (the owner)—and the other instructors' passion for bringing wellness to everyone, but more specifically and importantly to the BIPOC community, is inspiring. Spaces like this are crucial to our population that is often underserved or altogether excluded when it comes to overall health and wellness. As a Black woman working in the healthcare system, I am a firm advocate and supporter of holistic care, believing that practices like yoga, meditation, breath work, and massage are not luxuries but essential to the health of all beings. Ajax, through Magnolia Yoga Studio, has made this type of healthcare affordable and accessible to all, with a variety of growing classes to choose from in a place where community is evident. In this short time, I have met so many amazing people. I am so thankful to have found Magnolia Studio. It is essential for me to be able to live and practice the wellness that I advocate for in both a professional and personal capacity. If you are looking for an inclusive, community-based environment that understands the importance of holistic health not as a trend or a luxury but as a necessity, I hope to see you at Magnolia Yoga Studio. 🙏🏽🧘🏽‍♀️🤗

There’s no better space or community for hot yoga in New Orleans than Magnolia Yoga studio. The owner, Ajax, is extremely welcoming and has created a beautiful and clean space. Her teachers are knowledgeable and exposed to different workshops and teacher trainings that make them more unique and dynamic than your average yoga instructor. The community of students who practice there make it feel like it’s your second home. Whether you are visiting or a local it’s centrally located and easy to get to. All their packages, from drop-in to the monthly membership, are reasonably priced for the quality yoga experience you will have when you are at Magnolia.

I absolutely love Magnolia Yoga. And it’s not because it’s a huge studio with all the fancy bells and whistles or latest technology or super pampering extras. I love it and have stuck with it because, simply put, the owner and lead teacher Ajax teaches in a way that is REAL. In a way that keeps me coming back, and most importantly, keeps me working further on myself. She educates on all the whys behind all the 26&2 postures, as she guides. And this is how most of the teachers here also teach, in some variation. No offense to Lululemon lovers, but this studio is not a “scene to be seen” studio that’s about image. This is a studio that is about the work. And is a continuous reminder to keep re-investing in self-improvement. Not to mention of course, that this studio dismantles the chronic centering of whiteness and imbalanced, unrealistic image and cultural standards that appropriated yoga culture in America has come to embody in a far too high % of yoga studios in the US. This is the longest yoga studio membership I’ve ever had. It’s everything you need, and nothing you don’t.

Magnolia Yoga studio is a gem in the city of New Orleans! I have, since the opening of the studio, utilized several of the different membership packages over the years. The packages are well priced and offer great versatility in class offerings. The community created by the studio is welcoming, inclusive, supportive and warm. I love a great cardio work out that is challenging and invigorating yet guided with intention and expertise so that I am safely practicing - Magnolia Yoga over delivers on all fronts. Hot Pilates with Ciara and the 26+2 with Ajax are my faves! Both my sister and nearly 70 year old mother have been to the studio and they love it! The care and individualized instruction for novices to advanced learners is really unmatched. Can't recommend this studio more highly!

An incredible space with a thoughtful safe space philosophy that does not entertain negativity but instead encourages unity and respect. Yoga is a discipline. The instructors in the community are friendly however they may have to correct or uphold the discipline that keeps everyone safe. Meaning I have learned through many years of practice that sometimes teachers correct or comment to improve your practice & understanding. Sometimes some Americans in particular can be hyper sensitive or misunderstand their are standards in Yoga. For examples, some students want to take cell phones in the practice space and some people don’t want to take their shoes off. Things like that are part of the culture that do get upheld at Magnolia which long time Yoga practitioners like myself and many others appreciate. This review is to confirm this is by the best yoga studio in the city, state and one of the best in the country!

Bad energy. Toxic owner. I attended 2 classes before becoming privy to abuse based on colorism at which time I decided to cancel but the owner will not even work with me on dismissing the $99 cancellation fee. I only signed up for a specific instructor and due to blatant colorism and racism that instructor left the studio and I no longer feel safe or comfortable in this toxic place.

Ciara was a passive aggressive elitist and rude to us. She was also a condescending ableist by calling us out and not being patient. "We're waiting for..." is not how you instruct a yoga class. This is not the way yoga is supposed to be. This is not foundational yoga. This is why some people do not like yoga. She should be mindful of marginalized groups because she kept calling out certain individuals. The class description says, "All levels are welcome in this class, which will include beginner and intermediate postures" which was far from the truth.

I love supporting New Orleans’ first black-owned yoga studio and have been taking classes here for several years. Every teacher that I have had the pleasure of learning from has something special to offer: Amber, Kaelyn, Ciara, Gisele, Andre, & Josiah, and Ajax the owner. Ajax has created such a wonderful space for the community. She runs frequent specials for new members and offers discounts to students, educators, first responders, and others. Classes for people on all schedules. Come sweat it out with us. You won’t be disappointed.

I attended the New Years Day class at Hotel Peter and Paul and had a wonderful experience overall. The event space, a former cathedral, was gorgeous and the community that the studio owner Ajax and Magnolia cultivated was warm and welcoming. Ajax took the time to welcome me and inquire about my health (I was recovering from a recent foot surgery so was somewhat nervous to join a group class) but my nerves were instantly eased by her calm demeanor and confidence. A few times she called folks out for being on their phone or taking pictures but I believe this was to ensure that the group felt comfortable and that the sacredness of a yoga class was fully respected. As a NYC studio owner I highly recommend Magnolia Yoga and hope to return when back in Nola.

I attended this studio in 2018-2019 when I lived in New Orleans. I had a great experience with instructors Elaine, Andre, and another whose name
I cannot remember. Never had a class with the owner, but hadn’t heard good things. I am visiting this month for 2 weeks and wanted to get a month pass. I saw a post on Insta where they required vax cards, which is fine, but when I commented on the post asking if this was the case because I didn’t see it anywhere on the website my comment was deleted. I then reached out by messenger and also phone call inquiring about the vax requirement, I was ignored and never given a response. All of my correspondence was professional. It is a business’ right to require a vax just as it’s my right to not get vaxxed. All I wanted was an answer. It’s extremely unprofessional to not respond at all. Needless to say, I’ve unfollowed this business and will never step foot in it again.

Since everyone is entitled to their own opinion AJ is rude, colorist, disgraceful, and most of all disrespectful! Took classes from her and each time she took away the beginner friendly essence by insulting new brown skin students. She seemed bothered, annoyed, and rude. after her class other students and i agreed how convincing she is on social media but in person far from different. She is not welcoming. After talking with other students, we notice how her nasty attitude reflects on how selfish she is to the practice. Her studio is very limited on teachers, it is odd that she advertise her self all day long without acknowledging the other teachers in her studio which is why no teacher stays there long. Her personality is very toxic for a yoga practitioner she honestly disgraces the practice. Trust me Magnolia studio has propaganda written all over it. The FACTS are that Yoga is not rocket science but while practicing with AJ she without a doubt will create a intense competitive environment. The FACTS The owner AJ shows a disturbing selective favoritism throughout classes. All she cares about is social media gain. The yoga retreats she advertise be cautious and aware that rarely any students attend last year honestly it was just her that went lol because just imagine if she is rude to us at the studio, why on earth would we want to vacation with her lol ? If you are a student or teacher that have been wrongfully treated by AJ this review is for you to know that you are not alone! There are other hot yoga studios to choose from in the city and if you are looking for black owned i highly recommend stretch galore. It’s a No for me based on how rude the owner is, how dirty the studio is, and previously nothing seems to work at the studio lol not not even the water fountain or shower. Since everyone is entitled to their opinions that’s Just gross imagine practicing hot yoga with a mask for a hour and when you are done you can’t even shower or get a sip of water from the broken water fountain. PUHLEASE AJ! Learn some class. If I could give 0 stars I would or better yet -100. Oh!! I wonder how much AJ paid someone to write those positive reviews.

How unfortunate that this business is represented and owned by ajax. As a black woman; with her own black owned yoga business, it was frustrating to have this experience. I was completely shocked that the owner discouraged me from getting paid training from her establishment. Implying that someone does not have enough money, time, and dedication to be educated, without proper knowledge of that persons experience was blasphemy. Even after I mentioned I was already a teacher, looking to deepen my practice and support a black owned business. This ajax insulted me further by saying I still wouldn’t be prepared for her. As a true yogi, patience and tolerance is a must. I think ajax needs to cleanup her act, and her practice before she loses it.

I love this yoga studio(!) and will make it my go-to any time I am in New Orleans!

I was visiting for a few days and a friend invited me to the 6:30 am hot yoga class at Magnolia Yoga Studio. It was super easy to register for the class on the website; I registered at 9 pm the night before class, and was able to snag a spot. It was easy to upload my COVID Vaccination card, and I was very glad for the COVID safety protocols(!).

The morning of the class, I received a reminder text message at 5:15 am, which I greatly appreciated! When I replied to the text, to confirm I would be there, I received a follow-up text saying the doors open at 6:15 am — also greatly appreciated. I arrived just as the owner/instructor, Adrianne Jackson (“Ajax”), was arriving on her bike, with a great smile — she was so welcoming and nice!

I’ve practiced yoga off-and-on for years, but it was my first time at this studio. Ajax asked me, and other first-timers, about their experience with yoga and whether they had any injuries. She knew all the regular students by name. I was able to rent a yoga mat for $1 and then bought a great, red hoodie for $35. The studio is *lovely* — the whole vibe was welcoming, bright, and sunny, despite the gloomy rainy morning.

Ajax had GREAT music during class and I loved the 75-minute class — it kicked my butt!! She was encouraging during class, checking on students, having them modify where needed or supporting us where we could push ourselves a little more. We did each pose twice and I was always better the second time. The poses looked deceptively simple(!) — they were challenging, intense, and felt *great*!

The location is great — just off the French Quarter, on Basin Street, which is easy to reach from all parts of town.

I can’t wait to go back!

It's also very clean, I feel it's a COVID-safe environment, the Sunday instructor Catherine is very clear and makes everyone feel comfortable regardless of their ability, she gives different modifications for poses to challenge yourself as much as you want. If you are new to yoga I highly recommend you start elsewhere. The probability of you leaving here with a bad taste in your mouth is extremely high. I move around the country and have never had a bad experience at any yoga studio other than this one. I was immediately addressed with an attitude and a condescending remark. An environment where yoga is taught and shared should always be welcoming to all life. People who understand the true values of yoga do not undermine or bark at others on a whim. Never thought I would be warning people of a yoga studio. You are disgracing the practice. Close your doors or open your heart. Namaste; the owner and staff should look into it’s meaning.

I've been going to Magnolia yoga for about 5 months, and I really enjoy it with one exception, I don't appreciate the owner's self-important attitude. I've just been avoiding her classes, since there are so many other excellent instructors who teach here. Then one Wednesday morning, I left my shoes in the studio. I realized that day what I'd done. So I made sure to be back the very next day. They weren't there. They weren't in the lost and found. Nobody knew what had happened. The following week I enquired again, and found out that the owner had thrown away my shoes. No explanation. She didn't bother to reach out to me. At the suggestion of one of the instructors I sent an email to the magnolia yoga email, so that all of the instructors would be about to see it. I explained how much I appreciated Magnolia yoga, but I felt owed the cost of the shoes at the lowest price I could find a replacement for. After two weeks nobody has even bothered to respond. So now I'm writing a one star review, even though I appreciate so much of what Magnolia yoga has to offer.

The owner Ajax was extremely rude in class to me then had the nerve to literally scold me for trying to leave class when I felt extremely uncomfortable and unsafe because of her. I replied that I needed air and left, and she followed me out to correct me further. I knew that all I needed was to lie down in some air for a bit, then I'd be ready to leave the studio. But she was more concerned about being right and in control than she was about my health and wellbeing. Despite this studio claiming to promote the importance of fostering a connection to one's body, she kept insisting that she 'knows what she's talking about' when she followed me out of the class. I sent an email explaining how I felt in class and got a very late, unempathetic, just as rude reply. Terrible environment if you ask me.

Visiting from out of town, I attended a class here on a whim. It was a great experience. The space is lovely with everything one needs, including showers and towels. The instructor was excellent, and folks were friendly and welcoming.

We scheduled a private class at Magnolia in June for the morning of my wedding. It was everything we had hoped for and was a wonderful way to start the day: mentally, spiritually and physically. We had a very diverse group, and Ryan did a great job adjusting the class to make everyone feel comfortable. Thanks to Ajax and Ryan for all that you did to help make the day so memorable!

I went to the 6:15am hot yoga class. The instructor was encouraging and the space was wonderfully calming. I would suggest this studio to anyone interested in yoga at any level.
