Planet Fitness is a ripoff. I signed a one year contract for membership. Paid for the year even though I couldn’t physically access the gym anymore due to health issues and surgery. Called the customer service number AFTER my contract ended to cancel membership. They stated I could mail a letter to the club (Alexandria, La) which I did. They claim they never received it. I went in there in May to CANCEL because they claimed they never got the letter. The worker gave me a letter for cancellation that has a ZERO BALANCE on it. They charged me AFTER the fact. I have been trying to get a refund for May which I should get a refund going back to January but I let that go. Needless to say they didn’t process me a refund. It’s not about the money it’s about the principle. I did what I was told to do. I paid my contract. They auto renewed it because they claim they didn’t receive my cancellation letter. Then they charged me after the fact of me physically coming into the gym, stating I didn’t cancel in enough time. When I actually did! Total rip off. Whenever I am able to join another gym it won’t be Planet Fitness.

I've used this gym for over 6 weeks currently. I love the huge ceiling fans and crazy number of various TV's showing various interests. I'm a finance guy so 🦊 biz or CNBC is nice. Sometimes people purposely choose not to wipe down the equipment after they use it, that infuriates me because they're spreading germs. Most recently my login credentials changed and I had a tricky time logging in and needed the manager's assistance. Dani (I assume this is the correct spelling). She couldn't have been easier to corroborate with. Thanks so much for your help. The assistant manager (Ember) in the past had been outgoingly helpful too. People are locked-in when they're working out and I respect their space. I don't harass others either 😂 so it's a comfortable place to be.

Now they say the air conditioning is broken & it can't cool off enough. That the man who takes care of the building lives somewhere else now blah blah blah
There is always a reason why the members do not matter at this location. They have signs up in the tanning rooms saying don't use the bathroom in the trashcan go to the bathroom before tanning. That's awful they had to put that sign up & it kills your I'm going to enjoy this trip to the gym vibe. Alexandria needs a real gym with air conditioning. 10 years ago this location was nice. Now I'm surprised Planet Fitness lets them continue to have their name on the building.

Its generally a decent branch. Lots of machines and usually clean. My only comment is to avoid planet fitness because cancelling requires going to the home branch or sending certified mail! They make it difficult to cancel on purpose! How is it that theres so many online/in app features and yet you have to cancel in person at your home location or by mail?

I like the competitive pricing. However, I do not like the conditions of the shower stalls. It is also disconcerting that it takes too long for the hot water to flow through to the shower nozzle if hot water is available. A free-weight bicep curl chair is needed. As a visiting member, I just pity the local patrons of this Planet Fitness. I visit between 5 and 10 different PF locations around the US and Canada monthly, and occasionally I end up in one like this. If you were studying the progression of how owner/franchisees operate their PF businesses, some are energized and in growth-mode, while this one is all but abandoned to flounder through the end-stage of decline. The staff are entirely disengaged from the customer experience, and they now apparently cater to the most feral and vulgar of their clientele.
I would recommend to anyone considering a local membership at this Planet Fitness to minimize your expectations and don't get too attached to this place, as this location will probably be liquidating before 2024 is over.

Fortunately, this location is anomalously degraded, and most Planet Fitness locations aren't as disappointing as is this one.

Edit: Saturday and Sunday are now only open until 7 for people who work weekends thats the worst.

Used a free day pass to try out and was not disappointed. Courteous staff and took only a few minutes to start my workout. Clean facilities and everyone seemed to take care of the equipment by wiping it down, put weights away and not take up multiple machines at one time. Will be back!

This is my gym! Love the friendly staff! Jess is always so bright and positive and adds a smile to my face. Clean plenty of equipment. I’m a 4 year black card member and enjoy all the extras. Red light therapy, tanning beds and hydro massage. I really enjoy the red light beds but I believe the bulbs are old and need changing. I also miss all the points and earning drink perks and where did all the merchandise go?

I like everything about PF! On my lunch break I come and “shake n bake” and I can leave knowing I got some type of body workout. And then when I have time I come and do a full workout. I like the diversity of the machines and the different workout areas you have set up. I like the comfortable atmosphere and the “no judgement zone” you have. I like that you give us perk points for each day we come. I like the hydro massage beds to use after a good workout or after a long work day. I like having the tv’s to take my mind off doing my cardio workout lol. I like the tootsie rolls you have; I eat a couple before I workout to give me that extra boost 😁 You offer a vast variety of services but are able to keep the membership cost low, and that’s a big plus! And I like that you let kids come. My son finally turned 13 and now I’m able to bring both of them with me. And the best part of PF is the staff. You guys always have a smile on your faces, and you’re helpful and nice. And as a collective, PF cares about its patrons and their weight loss stories which it shows by posting stories on its Facebook page. My son asked me yesterday if I’d go anywhere but PF, and I said no. Then I said, well if LC had tanning I’d go there. But then I thought again and was like nah, I will only come here. It’s not just about the tanning.😎
