Been to the hammond planet fitness for many years although I cancelled while I went away for school. Once coming back I decided to reactivate my membership. Shortly after starting to workout there a staff member by the name of Rayelle I think or something like that quickly became someone I was not comfortable with and made my experience at planet fitness very unpleasant. I was told I was not allowed to have a gym bag one day which I get because it’s always been an unspoken rule. However I’ve been around the owner and managers many times with a gym bag and was told nothing. Nonetheless I decided to just stop bringing it in. So everyone has to walk around with keys, phones, bottles, wrist wraps, and whatever you may need during that workout. Really dumb rule but whatever. Another day I am working out and I took my shoes off to stretch in a empty room*** and place my shoes right beside me as I am warming up my legs and ankles for a leg day. I am told I can’t have my shoes off. Another day I am doing walking lunges and I am told as I am standing next to my barbell weight, I can’t have the weight in the middle of the floor. I’d get that if I just walked away from it but I am quite literally standing beside it. Today was my last straw that genuinely made me cancel my membership. I placed two 15 pound dumbbells on the counter by the free weight where everyone puts their phones, keys, and etc. I look up to see her waving me down to let me know no weights can go up there. I’ve had more workouts being scared to actually workout than good ones. The atmosphere is terrible and they treat people like we are in a nursing home. Why is it even called a gym?? They have rules for others such as men can’t wear jeans, string shirts, no sports bra’s and when my husband asked why she constantly was telling me the things I can’t do but there are many women who come to the gym half naked, he was told they were loosening up on those things. So you mean to tell me I can’t stretch in my socks but u can dress half naked, okay! Also let me mention I see guys in jeans all the time but what are they told??? She is the reason I will no longer be returning there and have cancelled my membership. And if you decide to read this, maybe go work for the nursing home..you’d fit in quite well. You are very unprofessional for your age and maybe if you actually cared about the safety of others, you’d not be worried about me having my shoes right beside me as I stretch but you’d be cleaning the toilets that carry more crap than your mouth. One thing I forgot, as I went to cancel my membership today the guy was taking care of me and she interrupted him to hold a card up to my face and let me know I can cancel online “that’s how they do things”. She is a joke and makes paying costumers not even want to be there. I may be one of hundreds and my dollar may not affect the place but just know I pay you guys and you guys pay her..

I called them because ive been in the hosptal for two weeks with covid and anaphylactic shock and i toldthem i cant afford my bill bc of helth issues and it was 2-3 weeks BEFORE my payment was due and theh told me to freeze my account and i wouldnt be charged but i cant use the gym and i understood that but i wake up to my bank being in the NEGATIVES bc they took out 70 dollars and i call them and its been a full 24 hours and i call back and they say “the manager just tells us to write it down but they take forever to look ar it” terrible gym and terrible customer help

I’m a truck driver so parking is first concern and be aware this place has a big sign saying no trucks, so dumb and I never understand. Park in the back loading dock area and I wasn’t bothered. Showers hot and two were broken, water fountain cold and seemed like it wasn’t functioning properly, all equipment was normal and clean.

I get charged 25$ a month, I went in a few months ago they said I owe 67$ I went to pay it today so I can start working out again bc I'm being charged 25$ a month but haven't been in a while now I'm being told I owe over 250$ , Manager was in a meeting when I went this morning, I called there this afternoon the Manager still in a meeting, I would like to resolve this without paying that high amount and talk to Manager this is Unacceptable especially when I'm being charged every month for a place I haven't been to in a few years again I would like to start back going but not at that price. If not I'll cancel the membership.

I wish I could leave a no star review but this is the lowest it will allow. I went to the gym to workout my SWOLLEN ankle from a possible edema I have and decided to use the cycle for a while. I was in slides and not regular shoes because I am uncomfortable in them. The worker from the desk came over to me and told me I am unable to workout bc I am not in the proper shoes. I explained my condition and she proceeded to say I have to bring a doctors note. CHRISTINA & ESMERALLDA are the regionaI managers and where the only ones PRESSING THE ISSUE ALTHOUGH they were doing there job. There was a very smug inconsideration of the fact that my condition is visual and OBVIOUSLY needed to be worked out!!! I shouldn’t have to show a doctors note if I pay my money and have a VISUAL CONDITION! The situation was handled very poorly and completely inconsiderate especially if I explained I have a health issue at the moment!!!! They are not fit to run a gym if they only follow gym protocols regardless of MORALES if people have obvious conditions and it should be an ok situation.

Max stars for being the most truck friendly planet fitness I've ever been to. The amenities are also maxed out. Plenty of massage chairs, beds and lounges. There are no free weights except for a few kettlebells, and the changing rooms lack full length mirrors, but they make up for it in other areas.

Very disappointed with y'all getting rid of the 30 minute room. When you are close to 70 years old you don't want to exercise in the middle of the gym. Was told by one of the employees this was done for the younger clients. What about the older clients. Please bring it back. I've lost 95 lbs and my daughter has lost 100 lbs. Other than changing eating habits this was accomplished by the 30 minute room. So sad

The gym is very clean, the staff is friendly as could be, and the price per month is a great deal. I love Planet Fitness !!! BUT ... I could not believe it that there is NO SCALE in the building !!! What the heck??!!!! They told me that they wish there was one, but they can't have one because of the whole "No Judgement Zone" thing. That's ridiculous !!! I can't even tell if I'm hitting my goals or not. Or even for my health. I don't have a scale at home, and it's crazy to not have one. PLEASE change this !!!!! Just make it that your trainers won't ask any customers to weight themselves. Simple as that. I mean come on !!!

I visited once. I saw all the rules, every where. Reading between the lines was the 2 unwritten rules.

1)We do cross fit, that wut we do. You want customization, freestyle or freedom, get off the property. (No refunds).
2). Our club, our rules. Sign over yur money & 6monthwhatever contract and shut up. If u decide u don't like our rules or being TOLD you can refuse to renew with proper adequate notice. (No partial refunds)
BUT this was the Slidell location I visited. Others may b different.

Good place to workout. Chill, friendly employees and clean environment. Definitely a judgement free zone. Sometimes the equipment gets broken but it gets fixed pretty quick. There’s more people in the afternoon/evening - consisting of mostly young men (but not all). There’s fewer people in the morning if you want to get a workout in then.

Have you ever gone to a place and wondered if the person behind the counter is actively lying to you or just incompetent? If not, then visit this Planet Fitness for a change of pace.
Asked several questions about changing a membership. The *gentleman* behind the counter swore up and down what I wanted could not be done. I then check the website. Lo and behold everything he said was incorrect.
They got two stars because the treadmill worked.

If I could give less than one star, I would. For one, it’s more like a high school locker room. Full of immature teens using the equipment completely wrong, multiple kids jumping on or swinging on the equipment. The amount of profanity and sexual gestures they use is ridiculous. They even had a boxing match in the men’s locker room…
Secondly, it’s turning into a homeless shelter. I’d be shocked to find out that these people don’t get mail delivered to the gym. One guy hasn’t left out of the gym in months, while another sleeps in the parking lot, front row. With all of his doors and windows open of his van, with him changing and moaning. It’s really disturbing and unsettling.
I understand I signed up for a “no judgement” gym, but I thought there would be some basic standards.. You get what you pay for I suppose. With that being said, I cancelled my membership as the rest of my group will be doing the same.

It has what you need for a basic workout. The staff is friendly but they hardly clean and the patrons are not very respectful. Multiple times showers are broken or there's literal feces on the floor in the bathroom. Definitely have come across homeless sleeping in the lockeroom and they do nothing about it.

*UPDATED* There is a new assistant manager and she has gotten the staff to completely step their game up. All the staff actually greet people as they come in and leave.

The hot water thing is really a problem! Some days there is hot water, some days warm water and half time the time, it is colder than freezing. Saying something to the manager had him responding that I am the only one who has a problem but in locker room convos, this was a typical topic.

The trash can in the women's locker room is now hidden in a corner where you have to look for it, so many people just leave their trash anywhere.

Huge improvement in staff since my last visit. They have taken out their earbuds and are friendly to the guests. The systems are linking so it is easier to use the black card area.

The showers are worse though. The weather was colder and there was no hot water. Like it was cold enough to see the opposite of steam raising.

This isn't the worst site I've ever been too but it's far from the best.

The staff is always crowded around the desk and rarely walk the floors. They always have their ear buds in and turned to a level where they are unable to hear the guests. Their system doesn't link with Planet Fitness's master system and I was told that no locations link, but having regularly visited other locations, I have never seen this to be true.

The ladies locker room is a good layout. The hot water never really gets hot just warm and sometimes not even that.

The gym layout needs works. Many of the areas create a dead space in circulation leaving the guests feeling nauseous from the heat while doing basic exercises like the rope or steps ups or even pushups. Since the staff rarely walks the floors, cleaning isn't a priority. The trash can will be full on Monday, then really full on Tuesday and over flowing the rest of the week.

It's an adequate gym but can be much better.

Very clean. Front desk personnel need to be trained better in customer service. I'm eligible for the silver sneakers program and this person knew nothing on how to sign me up. Wasted 45 minutes while she's called her manager. And I was told to call my insurance and get a special code. According to my insurance all I needed was my insurance card. To make a long story short. Do you research before signing up for silver sneakers.

This is not my home gym, but they were super nice to me and showed me around the location helped me get setup in one of the massage beds. They also answerd questions that my home gym didn't know the answers too. If I'm in the area again I'm going to make sure I stop by this gym. It was clean, organized and a great staff that were both knowledgeable and helpful. Planet Fitness head quarters should be Happy that their team takes pride in their jobs

My husband recently acquired a fancy "black" membership and sometimes invites me along in the evenings after work. The evening staff are friendly and pleasant. Much of the equipment is still in adequate repair, and there are ample cleaning sprays. The bathrooms do not seem to be cleaned regularly (visible residue sometimes remains for 6-10 days). It is difficult to be a guest without a personal smart phone, since access is run through QR code. Perhaps most significantly, however, issues are not addressed efficiently by management; the showers in the women's locker room have not had hot water since at least February 10, although the evening staff have left notes for the manager on multiple occasions.
