Came here for a group workout while in town, was nervous bc I don’t ~exercise~ 🙃but it was a great experience. Coach Kristin brought an amazing energy and kept us upbeat the whole time, even through the sweat! Right at the start of class, she told us not to compare our workouts or progress to anyone else—just give it our all—and honestly that helped me get out of my own head so much.
If I lived in NOLA I’d come here. I’ve never been so happy after working out! Crazy! Def recommend

Everyone is so welcoming. I’ve never attended a gym that made me feel like part of a real community, not just a fake community. Kristin is the best. It’s unfortunately a little far from me living in the Irish channel, but it’s very worth it. Great classes and a lot of variety if you want it. Looking forward to Mardi Gras being over with so I can get back more regularly since I live in “the box”

Vitality was life-changing for me. It boosted my confidence and made me feel strong and like a total badass after every workout. I was really nervous when I first started, but everyone there was so welcoming and encouraging. It's the perfect place to be if you want to move your body and get stronger.

Went here for a college trip with my professor last year. Awesome coaches who are so genuine and supportive. Felt like a really great environment with no judgement and great accommodation for any skill level. A year later, I’m still thinking of this place. If I had money I’d totally come back!

i freakin’ love this place. going on 3 years here and the community i’ve gained is immeasurable. through half marathon training and injured seasons, the value of vitality never falters. you truly have the freedom to go as hard as you want or as soft as you want. i really feel like i am growing alongside the gym.

I thought this gym would be a safe space but I quickly learned it wasn’t. It promotes inclusivity and community but if there’s any prejudice against you , you will be labeled and they will refuse your membership.
I can’t respond to the response But I guess by saying you don’t want to air out specifics and then aired the issue that speaks to your character.
Here’s what happened:
My friend moved back to Nola so her and I started workout out last week and there’s this gym that’s super body inclusive and queer inclusive and community based. Bet. I knew my exs went there but I haven’t dated them in years so I didn’t think it would be an issue. so we go and love it. I tell everyone that breathes that this place made me feel so excited to workout
Well yesterday I get a call from the owner that they aren’t going to allow me to join because my ex reached out to them and they don’t even know how my ex found out I was even attending but that uncomfortable with me joining. That I needed to reach out to my ex..
When I talked to my ex she told me that her and the owner are friends and that the owner had called her to tell her I was taking afternoon classes and was interested in joining that she knows my past and asked her what she thought. My ex said she “didn’t love me attending” because I didn’t call and ask her. And that the owner was like okay fine she won’t come.
They are saying that they asked me to take accountability for the harm I’ve done. That’s a big word! Never one was I asked for my side, my harm. I guess community is only limited to the ones they choose to be community. Never once did my ex communicate with me. Never once was a mediation even offered. I was judged and juried without being present and I’m supposed to take accountability.
Did the gym that says they offer community and inclusivity for the queer community take a pause to wonder if this would be a trigger? Like getting denied from church for being gay. No they didn’t care they cared about their friend and choosing who gets to eat at the popular table.
I’m sorry that my character is writing a review for people to make their own judgement because god forbid they go through what I did.
I’ve been denied from straight spaces and now gay ones too. Someday I hope I belong somewhere

This is the only gym/ fitness community I’ve ever been able to stick with, and genuinely enjoy going to. And even if I’m gone for a few weeks or months, I’m welcomed back with open arms! The body positivity here is unmatched. The owners really care about their members

Best gym ever. Kristin is a freaking GEM/angel on earth. Inclusive, fun, non-competitive. No contracts, free trial (you’ll be hooked after your first free class). Enjoy every minute of your time here because there is nothing else like it on the planet.

The worst part about working out for me is the monotony, but I’ve been grinding it out at Vitality for nearly 8 years, and I haven’t gotten bored yet. The coaches are always striving to keep the programming fresh, fun, challenging, and accessible for all levels. During my time as a member, I’ve gained about 20lbs in muscle and a tremendous amount of knowledge of my body. I recommend Vitality to everyone who wants the motivation to be a little healthier and a lot stronger.

Vitality Community Fitness is more than a gym - it is a community! Everyone, staff and members, is so kind and welcoming! The programming is challenging for people of all fitness levels. Everything can be modified to be more or less difficult. I cannot recommend Vitality enough!
Update two years after posting original review: still absolutely love working out at Vitality. The community has continued to grow and I am happier than ever with the programming.

Vitality Community Fitness is such an amazing gym! The community part is real and not just in the name - the trainers are all so supportive and good at their jobs, the members are kind and encouraging, and it is such a wonderful environment. I feel well-supported to meet all my fitness goals, and helpfully encouraged. I've dabbled in different fitness programs through the years, but this is the first place that I've really been able to commit to for a long stretch of time because they meet you where you're at and it feels so possible to improve.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. They approach fitness not with an ideal of perfection but rather make fitness about personal goals and reaching what makes sense for you and your body. They promote health, community, and mental well-being not just for themselves but for everyone. This is a place where you can enjoy your workouts and feel accepted and supported.

I started at Vitality nearly 10 months ago. From the first day, everyone was so nice and welcoming. I never felt like I did not belong there. I tend to stick with things for a long time, so when I try new things, like joining a new gym, it can sometimes make me very anxious. That feeling went away as soon as I walked in the doors. Kristin Kavanaugh and her team create an energic and friendly atmosphere. The workouts are tough and fun. I’ve seen an incredible transformation in myself and loving the results. Thanks to “Fletch” for introducing me to this gym and thanks to the awesome staff for all that you do!

Personal training with Kristin at Vitality changed my life. I know that sounds hyperbolic, but it’s true. I’ve been overweight for much of my life and certainly all of my adult life. I’ve done every diet there is and have tried to work out regularly over the years. But, I inevitably fall off the wagon after a month, two at most.
That was true until I met Kristin. I was introduced to her and to Vitality by a good friend of mine. We exchanged a few text messages at first but eventually set up a phone call to really discuss what I wanted out of PT and what my goals were. It’s obvious that she has a passion for fitness training and truly wants each and every one of her clients to succeed and be their best selves.
Because I have a pre-existing lower back problem, I wanted to make sure that my transition out of a largely sedentary lifestyle was being supervised by someone with the knowledge and expertise to help me prevent injury. I mentioned my back problems during our initial phone consultation and Kristin was very supportive and understanding about my concerns and assured me that she would do everything in her power to make sure I was safe. I ended up signing up for 12 sessions with a plan to transition to group classes after they were all done.
I knew from our phone conversation that Kristin would be a good fit for me as a trainer, but she proved that during our first session, and every session afterwards. It was clear that she took my concerns seriously and was frequently asking me how my back was feeling and would quickly modify the planned routine if something didn’t feel right. On top of that, she is an incredible motivator. She constantly pushed me to dig deep and get in one more rep. Throughout all of our sessions she also focused on making sure I was prepared to make the switch to group classes after our sessions were over. Our last session was bittersweet. I was so proud of myself for showing up to each and every session and I was excited about group classes. But, I knew I was going to miss that one-on-one attention (and having someone to count my reps for me ;P).
Transitioning into group classes was admittedly, a little intimidating. Suddenly it wasn’t just Kristin and me. It was me and 11 other members all working on the WOD which can be pretty brutal sometimes. But, everyone made me feel right at home and comfortable going at my own pace. That is frankly one of the best things about Vitality. The workouts are great but the community, including the coaches, is second to none. There’s no judgment, no one-upsmanship, no drama. Everyone is there to get in a solid workout, push themselves, and help motivate each other along the way. And even in the group classes, the coaches are there to guide you and help you perfect your form. Obviously they can’t give you the same one-on-one attention you’d get in PT, but they’re not going to just leave you to figure it out on your own.
As of this writing, I’ve been regularly going to the gym for FIVE MONTHS! Yes, you read that right. The guy that would never consistently make it to the gym for more than about a month has been attending PT sessions/classes 4-5 days a week for 5 full months! Of course, I didn’t start out at 4-5 days a week but I just loved the way I felt after each class so much that I eventually built up to that level. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m well on my way. I may not always finish the workout but I’ll be damned if I don’t show up and give it my all each and every time.
The bottom line is this, if you want to get in the best shape of your life, choose Vitality. It truly is a body-positive, queer-owned/friendly space where everyone is accepted regardless of where they are in their fitness journey. You owe it to yourself to at least sign up for the trial classes. You’ve got nothing to lose (except fat ;P) and everything to gain. If you’re nervous about jumping straight into group classes then do what I did and start with personal training. It could make all the difference.

Joining VBK has easily been one of the best decisions that I’ve made while on the journey to be the best version of myself, both mentally and physically. The staff at VBK create a fitness environment that allows you to push yourself to your limits while promoting individualized safety. Even during group workouts, the coaches ensure that you are executing each movement properly by offering real time feedback and suggesting alternate movements if you have a physical limitation. Aside from the training, the atmosphere and community at VBK is almost surreal- you get all of the positive vibes, motivation, and support from everyone that participates.
If you are like me and are aiming to be the best version of yourself, I highly recommend giving VBK a try!

There is no other community like Vitality! Staff and members here really make this place the best gym to go to!

You think you are “doing something” by enrolling in a gym, attending day in and day out, falling into a routine which at the end leads to very low yield results... That’s far from the truth for Vitality by Kristin. There’s no “routine” about it, as every workout is different from each other, and its the incorporation of cardiovascular exercise and strengthening what makes you walk out of there actually feeling and knowing that you’ve put in serious work. Seek no more, join VBK and the least you’ll get is coaches committed to guide you in a path of wellness, and in the way you’ll encounter fellow members that just make you feel like you’re working out with friends. In short time VBK changes you as not only you’ll feel that you want to do it, but that your body and mind needs it- it becomes Vital!

Kristin has created such a welcoming atmosphere. It’s unlike any gym I’ve ever been to. Workouts are challenging for all ability levels, and Kristin lovingly pushes each member to meet their goals and test their strength. If you’re looking for an inclusive space, whether you’re totally new to fitness or a seasoned pro, Vitality is for you.

The program at Vitality by Kristin offers a tough workout with challenging exercises that can bring the fittest to their knees. The classes are filled with all ages from their 20's to old guys like me coming up on 50. The best part, there are options to scale workouts based on your skill level. I would suggest you come to a Saturday class, and try it out. They are located at 4304 Firestone Road in Metairie.

Vitality is like the CHEERS of gyms. Everybody knows your name and everyone is a friend.
Just over 3 years ago now, I hated working out and was terrified to work out. But I also was unhappy in my body and how little I felt I could do. I wanted to be able to lift my students up (metaphorically and physically), but I was struggling. So Kristin literally called me out at a festival and then checked in with me on Monday. She is the most supportive trainer, coach, and friend. She's helped me to get where I wanted to be for so long and keeps me wanting more.

Kristen and the other coaches at VBK take the time to learn about each member's goals and work as partners to achieve them. If a member has limitations they are flexible with workouts so that everyone stays safe and healthy. This is a great place to try if you are somewhat intimidated by cross training gyms. The coaches and the members are friendly, open, accepting and encouraging. Check out VBK and you'll be glad you did! 🏳️🌈

I honestly can't say enough good things about Vitality by Kristin. When I signed up I was scared and nervous with anxiety about going in to a gym setting. I chose Kristin as my Personal Trainer and I can say that it was the best choice I made. I had been considering Vitality for a while but never got the courage to come. I am so glad I walked through those doors. Kristin is sucha great coach. She pushes you, won't let you quit. She makes it fun and enjoyable even though you're dying through the workout. The other coaches there are great as well I have started adding in a class a week I have worked with Greta and Sarah both excellent. Everyone is so nice here and so welcoming. I am so glad I picked Vitality to share my journey. Kristin truly makes this a great place to workout! I haven't missed a single session and always look forward to going!

I can't speak highly enough of Vitality by Kristin and the culture that Kristin has created. It is one of the most welcoming and well-rounded gym I have ever had the privilege of being a part of. Kristin, Greta and Sarah are all extremely attentive and supportive trainers that are prepared to challenge you to be your best self every single time you walk in the door. All fitness levels are welcomed and represented in every class and any movement or weight can be scaled to your abilities. Your first class is free and if you're reading this review to decide whether or not to go, stop reading and go sign up. Your only regret will be that you didn't do it sooner.

Vitality not only offers classes but Kristin also offers personal trainer for those who may not feel comfortable jumping straight into a class, and this is what my husband and I decided to do. I'm not going to say we weren't intimidated the first day we went into the gym but after to talking to Kristin for just the consultation, all those fears subsided. She talked to us about our eating habits, workout routine or lack there of, and what we wanted to get out of the program and just sitting with her for that hour, she not only made us excited to get started but you could see she was excited for us. I've seen so many coaches push people beyond what is comfortable for them but Kristin will help you modify your workout until your strong enough to build up the strength to do them. My husband and I have been there four months and we couldn't be happier. We love seeing the changes going on with our bodies. I never thought i would be excited about going to the gym but Kristin's energetic personality and love for fitness, keeps your motivated to go back every day. I'm proud enough to say that I'm even strong enough now to join in the the normal classes and keep up at my own pace. Everyone at the gym roots for each other and every is such a great support system. This is honestly the best decision I've ever made. I love being a member of the Vitality family.
