At age 70 I joined BBFC for numerous health and wellness benefits, such as improving my balance and bone density to prevent falls and injuries. I've been a member for four months and it's already been a life-changing experience. The knowledgeable and patient coaches provide proper form guidance and modifications, helping me avoid injuries and gain confidence. The varied workouts have already helped me achieve strength gains I never thought possible. I highly recommend this gym to anyone seeking a supportive environment.

Three years ago, I realized that the best I ever felt was when I had regular fitness workouts, which I hadn’t done for about 8 years. I thought I might join a gym when I retired. Meanwhile, I was tripping over everything at home and afraid that I would fall and break a leg. So, I realized the time was NOW. At Black Bear Fitness, I have semi-private lessons tailored to gaining muscle and strength. I’m now stronger than I have ever been in my life at almost 70!

I've been coming here for almost 2 years. When I first started, I could barely move- a torn rotator cuff and arthritis were running my life. Now, I can move better than ever, lift and move a crazy amount of weight that I never dreamed was possible and am getting comfortable in my own skin. Heather and I chat frequently about nutrition and my goals and we make a plan specifically for me-no cookie cutter here! Travis pushes me to out do myself, but is always willing to change things up if I'm not having a good day so I don't hurt myself.

I highly recommend BBFC!! Coach Heather helped me with my nutrition, and I was able to met and surpass my goals!! This change my whole life! I am now energized, enthusiastic, happy, and inspired to keep taking good care of myself. She created a sustainable nutrition plan offering support, accountability, and accessibility (phone, text, and in-person). Then, she recommended strength training. All I can say is Wow!!! All of the Coaches are so knowledgeable and they are right there with you! The Coaches will work with you if you have limitations, encourage you to try new things and do your best, and check-in to see how you are doing. I have been with Black Bear Fitness for 8 months now. My health plan consists of 2 semi-privates and 3 group classes per week. Both the semi-private and group classes are important to my overall strength training and health. Both have also been important to my mental health. They have allowed me to get to know many of the other members and build a sense of community. I look forward to getting to the gym each week and the staff and other members are so supportive and have helped me to push myself in ways I would not be able to do on my own. Black Bear Fitness is an important part of my everyday life and I would recommend this gym to anyone who is on the fence about getting back into a fitness program.
I just completed my 5 one-on-one On Ramp sessions with a personal trainer and I love Black Bear Fitness' approach to fitness. Each session is built specifically for you and your fitness level. This gym is very different from any other gym. They believe in creating a very inclusive, friendly environment for all. You will never feel alone. You will always have a trainer and other members right there with you through your journey. I'm excited to get started on my Semi-Private sessions this week and meet some new members.

The best decision I ever made. I started May 2024 never been in the gym before so I’m a bit awkward. All the coach made me feel comfortable and patiently working with me towards my goals. As a 52-year-old woman, I had all but given up hope of ever getting healthy again. I was living in constant pain, struggling with simple tasks like tying my shoes or taking off my shirt due to severe shoulder pain. Then, in July, I started going to CrossFit Black Bear, and my life began to change.
The atmosphere there is incredible—everyone is so supportive and encouraging. I especially love the coaches, who take the time to listen and work with me to modify exercises so that I can target the same muscles without causing pain. In the short time I've been attending, I've seen remarkable improvements: my knee is getting stronger, I can lift my shoulder without pain, and I'm sleeping and breathing better.
Not only am I getting healthier, but I'm also building my confidence. Heather has been a tremendous help with my nutrition, guiding me every step of the way. I started crossfit Black Bear on April 23rd, I was nervous about getting a personal trainer as I didn't think I'd be able to afford it. It was totally worth the money paid!! I love the trainers I've worked with so far and all of my workouts for my OnRamp have tested me to see my limits and have been readjusted to fit my limits. My knees are not the best so my workouts are adjusted for that. So far I've lost 4lb in fat and gained 1lb in muscle! I'm so happy with that for 2 weeks in. I've had so much fun with this group that I have continued on with my workout sessions after my On Ramp was over and can't wait to do the group classes!!!

I have always been intimidated by the thought of CrossFit but finally went and checked it out and talk to them. They made me feel super comfortable and I was able to be completely honest about my current habits without being embarrassed or made to feel bad. I joined CFBB about three months ago. I hadn’t been overly active since March of 2020, and had been seeing and hearing all the positive results from current CFBB members. I knew it was time to make a change, and am very happy that I chose CFBB. The sessions are tailored to your needs, abilities, and goals. I started Personal Training (PT) sessions at CrossFit Black Bear (CFBB) one year ago. As an active senior, who enjoys cycling, swimming and running, the PT sessions workouts have greatly improved my mobility, balance, posture and overall strength. The coach has been excellent in developing well planned workouts and providing super helpful feedback that have allowed me to meet my health and fitness goals. CFBB provides an amazing environment for training that motivates me to take on challenging, yet fun, workouts (EMOM, AMRAP, clean, deadlift, …). Completely life changing experience. I've just completed a 3 month nutrition and personal training program, and I've lost over 30lbs and seen a dramatic change for the better in my blood work with my Dr.
What sets this place truly apart though, is the fact that Lucas and his entire team actually care about you. They provided individualized and supportive coaching throughout my 3 month journey, listening to my concerns and offering solutions along the way. Early morning workouts, learning to meal prep and cook with healthy oils and foods, adding additional protein to my diet...all made easy by their guidance and coaching. They checked in with me regularly and listened to what was happening in my life, and made great recommendations to help me remain successful.
My health and fitness journey isn't over and I have more weight to lose and muscle to gain, but I'm so thankful I chose CFBB to be my partner in this. I cannot recommend them more highly.

CrossFit Black Bear is 100% worth it! The trainers are excellent, social, and lively during workouts which makes it a very appealing atmosphere. They work with you not only in overall fitness and nutrition, but also lend a listening ear for the stresses in your life. Being a full time PhD graduate student on top of a TA position is tough and often stressful; Crossfit is just such an excellent outlet for all that. You watch yourself grow too with overall increased strength and a much happier lifestyle. Also, I personally think this is much better than a typical gym because at a regular gym you don’t have trainers to push and drive you.

By far the best gym I’ve ever been to!!! The first thing I noticed was how much of a family feel the gym had. The energy was high, everyone was smiling and cheering each other on. It was so refreshing to see!
I also enjoyed the fact that the didn’t just sign me up, take my money and release me to the group. They took time with me to learn about my goals and what I wanted out of my time with them.
They also focus on form and safety first to mitigate injury which was huge for me! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hurt myself in the past because I thought I was doing the move correctly, when in fact I wasn’t.

An amazing place to workout with awesome people and great results. In my past I would go to the local gym and do my workout without pushing myself. I was introduced to Crossfit Black Bear and did the 6 week challenge. Three years later I am still there and at the age of 54 I am in the best shape of my life. As a runner and firm "gym hater" for years, I was skeptical about trying anything that involved a gym setting, but decided to book an appointment with CrossFit Black Bear a few weeks ago to see what it was all about.
First, they were extremely easy to get in touch with, the appointment was set up on my schedule and from the moment I walked in, I could tell this place was different.
There were no people skulking about grunting and sipping poorly mixed protein cocktails, the facility is small, but well appointed and the staff were friendly, professional and very helpful. I met with Trainer Heather Jackson, who from my first meeting, has been simply terrific. She took the time to understand my goals, listened to why I was interested in CrossFit and after a 30 minute discussion I signed up for the 8 session "On Ramp".
From the first session to the 8th, it was great. No body shaming, no pressure, no intimidation, just great coaching on form and technique, concise explanations of the different terminology (they have a LOT of acronyms), and some helpful "cheering" as I occasionally dragged my 51 year old carcass through each strength and cardio routine. At the end of each 45 minute class and the On Ramp, I felt like I had achieved something and I am happy to say I will be joining CrossFit Black Bear as a member.
If you are looking to expand your fitness horizons or finding ways to combat old age, weight gain, educed flexibility or if you simply want to become part of a small group of people committed to their health ad fitness, I suggest contacting Lucas and his Team over at CrossFit Black Bear.

I did the FitME Challenge recently and it was absolutely fantastic! I can't believe how quickly I was able to lose fat and gain muscle. In just 6 weeks I feel strong and energetic again! I approached the program just 6 weeks after having a baby and was a bit apprehensive- but I actually have been shocked at how quickly my body got on board. I became a member over a year ago and from day one, I felt it was not only a great gym but most importantly a community. Josh, Lauren, Jared and Jimmy, who has moved since:( are not only very knowledgeable but truly take the time to get to know you and your goals.
Their "Annual Membership Appreciation" week is fun and the coaches go the extra "mile" to let you know they're proud of all the members!! They also have other activities which include hiking and charity events.

The coaches are professional, knowledgable, great teachers that encourage a positive team environment and who are fully invested in helping us get better and achieve our goals. I did the FitMe Challenge and am signing up to be a member after hitting my initial goal. I have always been a CrossFit skeptic because I didn't want to get huge like I did when lifting a lot in college, but this is so much more than lifting weights. I joined CrossFit Black Bear last year when they first opened their doors when I was looking to mix up my workout routine. After my first class I was hooked. CFBB has continuously helped me improve my form and push me to do better. The coaches take the time to give pointers to each member every class. And as a bonus, you get to meet lots of new people!

I first walked into CrossFit Black Bear when they opened their doors in September 2016. Since then, this gym has been a major part of my overall health and wellness. I look forward to each and every class I attend. It didn’t take long at all for me to see results, and I have enjoyed learning this dynamic way of keeping fit. The coaches are not only friendly and supportive; Jimmy, Lauren, and Josh always take the time to check in with members to make sure we have goals and we are on track to meet those goals, and intern Jared is a supportive and encouraging part of classes daily. CrossFit Black Bear is a vibrant and healthy community of which I am delighted to be a part.
