Best fitness center around! In Scarborough they replaced all the flat and incline benches and I think there are more than before. A small improvement but makes a big difference when it's crowded.

Very nice equipment and layout. I would’ve giving 5 ⭐️ if they didn’t have a little kids punching bag. You’d have to be 5’5 just hit that thing. Put A Thai bag up like Foley‘s gym. They are probably 100 bucks. Most likely will lose me as a customer for the location. Still nice place but why Even have that punching bag?

This gym is ridiculously crowded and way smaller than it looks from the outside. Theres only 2 or 3 squat racks. A lot of the space is taken up by classes and private studios. So the actual “gym” with weights only feels a bit bigger than a basketball court. Bottom line is its super annoying having to go and fight for machines even on non-peak hours

NEXGEN is a great gym.Its clean and well equipped with anything you can want for your fitness . The staff along with the members have "class" .
They are polite friendly , helpful
as well as unintimidating. Obviously are a reflection of the owners and management from the everyone I've met.

A well kept, clean facility with newly upgraded equipment throughout. This place has expanded and offers a lot to members. Love that the spin classes are included in membership now. Staff are friendly and helpful. Thoroughly enjoying the sauna!

I used to go here when it was lifestyles, then I went to foleys. With the new updates at NXgen I really prefer this place over any gym in greater Portland, if you haven’t seen this place recently I highly recommend stopping by to check it out. New locker rooms are top notch. Much better experience than other gyms near by overall highly reccomend.

NXGen Fitness (used to be Lifestyle Gym) is my favorite local gym. The location is perfect. There's plenty of parking. The gym is open, clean, and inviting. The equipment is newer and updated. The tanning booths rarely have a bulb out/not working. The locker rooms are clean, the showers are some of the best I've ever seen in a gym. My favorite part is the sauna. 5 Star Gym! A tad pricey but you're getting what you pay for here!

I’ve had a great experience so far at this gym. The staff was very friendly and helpful with orienting me to the layout of the space. It was very easy to sign up online. The facilities are very clean, spacious and equipped with everything you could need for resistance training & cardio. The cycling classes are also a great addition to this gym. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience at Nxgen. Great equipment for powerlifting, especially given this is a commercial gym. Recently renovated facilities with the coolest outdoor space I’ve seen of any gym in Maine or elsewhere.

Staff are always kind. The gym is generally not too busy in the early morning but there are days where it gets packed. They have enough squat racks (4 indoor, a few outdoors, and 2-4 reserved for 1:1 training) but I do wish they had like 2 more indoor racks. You sometimes need to wait for them, although this is rare. Same with benches - usually enough, sometimes you have to wait.

You can deadlift here. They permit chalk, contrary to what the signs left over from when this was “Lifestyles gym” say.

I don’t much care about the quality of the facilities provided they have what I need to train. Generally speaking, this place has very clean facilities. Recently renovated locker rooms with showers and new sauna are all top quality.

Never used the classes but they seem popular. Never worked with their trainers myself but having talked with them, they seem knowledgeable and competent.

Cardio equipment is varied and there are more than enough machines available.

Overall, highly recommend Nxgen for a variety of fitness pursuits, from people just starting their fitness journey to more seasoned and advanced powerlifters. Standout gym.

Great gym.. only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is how cold it’s kept. It makes it really hard to warm up and get warm enough to start your workout. Especially if you’re a morning person and want to go early. It’s nearly impossible.

I joined in 2012 when this gym was Lifestyles and I love all the changes that NXGEN has made, not only have they made great updates to the building and the equipment, but they offer great workout classes with a ton of different instructors. I love all the different types of classes they offer, most classes I never would have ever tried before but now I love. Would never even think to switch gyms.

I love this gym, it gives me an elevated experience because it's always clean and neat, the equipment is taken care of and the staff is very friendly! They will remember your name and will look genuinely happy when they see you going consistently.

If you join cycling, make sure you bring your towel because the instructors are good at making you sweat 😅!

Great gym! Clean, spacious and all of the essential equipment you might need. I was in the area visiting from NYC and was looking to hit up a gym as I always do anytime I take a trip anywhere. Gym is much more weightlifter friendly. Dedicated squat/deadlifts area. Dumbbells go up to 150lbs. They meticulously maintain their equipment. No bent barbells. Clean locker rooms and showers.
