Decent enough place, but they picked the worse kind of elliptical machines to pack more into the location, as a result 90% of then go unused. People don't respect the use of the '30 minute workout' either. Honestly they need a bigger location and double the weight area as its over crowded. Their meter isn't accurate for how busy it is.

Not ideal for in-and-out weight lifting as you have to compete for machines and weights.

Also the fact that anyone can just wAlk in is a security safety issue should be addressed maybe a member pass access for after hours??

The formula has been perfected, as far as I'm concerned. I walked in, downloaded something, paid like $8.50 for a prorated month, and now I have a gym to go to. They have all the stuff, it's all clean and functional, and the amenities are well beyond expectations for the price. Have had nothing but good experiences with the staff.

I got a feedback email a month ago, and I gave my local PF a 10 out of 10; but I mentioned 3 things that could be improved. And guess what, a month later, the 3 items seem to have been addressed. Could be coincidental, but if not, I'm very pleased!

Just so you know, the 3 items were: one, the water wasn't hot since last Fall. The next day, it was hot again; two, there were only 24 of the large 45lb plates. Since there are 4 Smith machines, that each need 4 plates, and one incline leg press that should have 12 plates, I figured there should be 28 total. Add 2 plates for those who like to do farmer carries, and there should be 30 large plates. There were only 24. Well, this week, they added 3 machines that can use plates, a hack squat, a bench, and a calf raise. And, they now have 44 of the large 45lb plates! Yay! That was probably the biggest issue that has been completely addressed!

Lastly, there were rain drains that emptied right at the door entry, that usually expelled seagull feathers, and other disgusting debris. Yech. I'm not completely sure, but they may have put screens in the drain to eliminate that issue, but I'm not completely sure. If they have, that's also great!

And for those who haven't been, this is a relatively new, clean, bright facility. Highly recommended. Much much better than the old facility.

After moving to Hallowell from L.A. last year, I joined the Augusta, Maine gym earlier this year, and I am continually amazed at how great the facility is, and how welcoming, friendly and helpful the morning staff is. (That's the only time I have been.)
One quibble, though: one of the four showers in the Men's Locker Room is out of commission...and although the sign on it says ti will be repaired ASAP, it has already been two months. Is it really that difficult to find an area plumber who can fixt it?
Aside from that, I'm grateful to have a state-of-the-art facility like this in my neighborhood. Happy Holidays!

In the past two weeks, planet Fitness and their new employees have harassed me; the first occurrence was with Erin, who accused me of denying to take my photo for my membership when I scanned my card in mind you I have been going to this gym for years and never seen his lady until now. I told them I took a photo last year, and she continued to be rude. Later in the day, she followed me to the area where I was working out and then began harassing two other girls using the smith machine that was next to the one, I was using.
Today, I came in to transfer my gym membership to a different location and was told a manager had to do that. Q, who was at the desk, became defensive after I said I also needed to switch my payment information, and he said you can do it online on the app and began to ignore me after I stated it wasn’t working, which is another reason I came in. He started to argue with me after I asked a simple billing question, saying that I start issues there when he and Erin were the ones who harassed me at the gym last week over a picture. He threatened me and said they record and see everything that goes on and told me to leave now, and said he was going to call someone.
I have been coming to this gym for years and never had any issues until they hired new people, and from what I see, the only person who does anything regarding cleaning is Justin with the long hair; the rest of the workers stand around texting and sitting on the desk counter judging the people that come in. Erin especially likes to lean on the counter, as shown below, after she harassed me during my visit here, claiming to be the assistant manager when I asked to speak to a manager or given a corporate number to call about the issue. This place has gone downhill over the past few months; if this does not get resolved immediately, I will be seeking legal counsel about the harassment and discrimination I was subjected to. I have several friends who go here who can attest to the different levels of treatment they receive compared to the terrible levels of treatment they have given me recently.
If you do not like the job or profession you signed up for, you should not take it out on the customers asking for help when it's in your job description to help and provide customer service while you are there. I will not recommend anyone to this gym if this is how they will treat people; it could be why the old staff that were kind and cheerful left. I would give this place half a star if it were an option; I am incredibly disappointed.

It i understand dress code for safety. I wasn’t wearing anything dangerous that would hurt the equipment. And extremely unprofessional the way they went about it. The manager sent someone on her first day to tell me this when she didn’t understand the policy herself. Than the manager from Texas tried telling me that’s how every gym is. Well if you google or YouTube if jeans are bad for work out equipment first thing that pops up is why everyone hates planet fitness…. I live full time in a skoolie while traveling the country, planet fitness is my go to for a long hot steamy shower that isn’t limited by my tank size and fuel levels. This review is my personal comparison having been to tons of other planet fitness locations and based entirely on the quality of the locker room and shower facilities.

It’s always refreshing to find one of the good ones. This location is in the top 10% perhaps even 5% of planet fitness locations.

This is the basic PF layout but with upgraded amenities. Showers have glass doors, high flow multi function shower nozzles. Vanities are upgraded as well. The Locker room has an extra bench and it and the bathroom are spotless. This gym has a scale too which I’ve only seen once before.

It’s clear that the owner, management team and the employees take pride in this location

I might stay in this town an extra night just because this was a small joy not often found when living a life on the road.

This PF isn’t open for 24 hours in a row ever. PF is going down hill fast. It’s like they were purchased by a private equity. Services are being trimmed and eliminated while prices are going up. This PF is open the least hours of any I’ve seen but all over the country, it’s getting harder to find a PF that’s open 24/7 anymore. Only this is any type of class you want to take is only on weekdays between 9 and 4. Which makes it difficult to take any when it conflicts with working hours. If they scheduled any classes on the weekend, I'd definitely the them up on it.

If you’ve been to the other PFs in Maine, you’ll consider this one to be mediocre at best. Barbell pads are old and falling apart, ellipticals shake violently from side to side if you even think about moving faster than 6mph, and the last couple of times I worked out here, half the TVs were on the same news channel or infomercial with zero sports channel displayed anywhere. When I asked the staff, they were nice but said that they had been trying to get it fixed for a while. I get the sense that they aren’t given the tools or leadership that they should be. But, it’s PF, so what should I expect? 🤷🏻‍♀️

PF is a scam!

Once you register (only possible thru the app) the only way to cancel is by sending a hand written letter to the gym. They also require your bank info to register, so you can’t just cancel the payment through your cc company. Obviously this is hard for someone like myself, who was just visiting from out of state.

This is clearly an unethical way of collecting dues on unused memberships. If they were an ethical business, they’d make it as easy to opt out as it is to opt in. Be smarter than I was and spend the extra 20 bucks at the YMCA or a private gym. This place is trash.

This is how much Planet Fitness ended up costing me after I had go to the walk-in clinic for ringworm (jock itch). I typically workout outside but decided to go to a gym for the winter months. I always wiped down my equipment after using it and washed my hands, but apparently not everyone at this gym is that courteous. I have never had “jock itch” or anything like it before, even after going to my college gym for four years. I caught it about 2-3 weeks after I started going to Planet Fitness.
Have a “buyer be ware” attitude at this gym.

I find the staff to be helpful and friendly. The Augusta Maine location is very clean. The options for workouts are wonderful. I like the weight lifting circuit which is well maintained. I do like the new planet fitness plenty of machines! Great employees, very friendly but I wish they would take better care of it. It's new, Keep it new and clean! It is getting dirty.. The bathroom floors aren't cleaned daily or even every other day. They showers aren't cleaned often either. Very dirty I've noticed over the past few weeks especially!
I go everyday during the week and there's clumps of hair on the floor that were there days before and in the shower there's clumps of stuff all over the showers, even a metal spring was in there the shower for 3 days. It is also dusty. I've noticed on top of the changing room doors are dusty. The machines have dust or in-between the weights (the places where we as members don't clean)

They should make it easier to cancel the membership. You pay the annuals and the monthly fees and then are offered only specific, fairly inconvenient options to freeze or cancel the membership. Now I'm paying for something I can't even use in hopes they will finally cancel it once snail mail delivers my request in writing. It does me absolutely no good that you require a signature in person to cancel, I am well over an hour away from the club I began my membership with, not to mention my vehicle does not currently run. You could offer an e-mail option with an electronic signature. 'This is purely set up to make it more difficult and inconvenient to cancel.

Wow, this new gym is Incredible. Used to be member of YMCA, and this new gym has all the machines they have. Only thing missing is pool and sauna. The have tanning beds and message chair. I wish I had gone sooner. Go online fill out form for a free 24 hrs. As long as u have emails u can keep doing that. They really need a day pass u can buy. Not always in area to use a Planet Fitness, so buying monthly pass is not beneficial for me. 24.99 is the black card which would work all over the USA. I remember seeing commercials for 10 bucks a month maybe that will come around again. I'm sure that's only good for the very lowest membership form.
