I used to love this gym. But now they’ve added so many machines that I don’t see people on and the most popular ones… leg extension, leg press and the leg adductor/abductor there are only one. And the adductor/abductor is now only ONE combination machine so even worse. I spend at least 20 minutes each time waiting around because I can’t get on them. All other machines are fine and I’m done with the rest of the workout and have to stand and wait. Used to be they would listen to the customers. Now corporate only listens to their wallets. Very upsetting.

I love Sanford Planet Fitness!!! 5 stars!!!
The staff is so professional, welcoming, knowledgeable, and just purely nice. The staff continually clean the equipment, even though the members clean it once they are done. The staff is so helpful when you come to the desk. !!! They say hello and goodbye to everybody. I have never been to a better planet fitness than in Sanford Maine. I hope the corporate people who read this/the franchise owners reward the staff as they should be. That’s why I keep going back.!!!

It's a gym and they have equipment for you to work out with. The employees are helpful when needed as are the members. The price is amazing for 2025 really. The shower was hot and the drinking water was cold. 9/10 people whipped down the equipment when done.Wifi works! Not sure what else people would want. (Edited 6/27/25 was introduced to the private changing room and handicap shower today. Being handicapped I really appreciate these both tyvm 10/10)

I signed on for 1 year, paid for my 1 year, and was done, but they were not. Without signing for another year, they are STILL trying to charge me since OCTOBER, and now, they won't let me close it, because now its a delinquent account, and they won't stop charging!! Should be just as easy to LEAVE as it is to sign up!!!!

I hate to write this review but I’ve been coming here for months and I feel half the machines I want to use are loose af for example a machine I have to lift 200 pounds for when in actuality I can only lift 100 pounds so I can’t use them I’m very limited as to which machines I can use it seems the machines are not being serviced I was told it takes months to service them and I’m not understanding why I’m paying full price for using half of the machines other planet fitness are too far to drive to so this place is the closest to me I wish someone would finally service the machines

Although I would usually rate this PF higher, this is specifically for an employee - Scott. The encounter I had with him today was disappointing and left me unable to use an amenity at the end of my workout due to “not having a photo on file”. I use this planet fitness every week and have never had any problems with other employees. He was short with me from the beginning, stating that the computer was being really slow and that he needed a picture of me because they didn’t have one on file. I said I was sorry but that I was in a rush to get to work and just wanted to use the tanning booth quickly. To which he responded all right then have a good day, turned, and walked away. No explanation or option to do it later.

I never write bad reviews but this was frustrating and unnecessary.

Been going to this PF for about 2 years, regularly having to go to Rochester/Biddeford for leg days due to no leg press. Was pleasantly surprised to receive correspondence that feedback was heard on this "complaint" and one was acquired. Pretty rare that feedback is heard (wasn't just mine) and changes are made, so big kudos there. Otherwise everything checks out here, treadmills are way better than surrounding PFs, and no complaints otherwise!

Never again, besides the fact they (Remodeled) stalls are puny. I cancelled my membership and they still took out the yearly membership fee so i called and was told to call corporate. Corporate informed me they do not issue refunds it’s the location that you joined at and yes i looked it up, they were not lying. I asked for the manager and explained to him that i was no longer a member and would like my 39.00 $ back that it’s not right for me to pay a year’s membership when i’m not a member. He told me so many business days and i’ll get my refund. Guess what? there’s no record of this and i have to wait till Tuesday to speak with him. Not happy with Sanford Maine Planet fitness at all. I just went to see how this gym works. I work at night, and this gym stays open 24/7 on Monday to Thursday. I wasn't sure if this would be the place for me. I talked to 2 wonderful men, Chris and Shawn. Chris helped me by showing me all the workout machines. Then, they both told me about the place and helped me download the app and enrolled. They are both very welcoming. This is not what I expected. I like it there very much!

For some reason the exact lunks that are supposed to be elsewhere, tend to be here often. Making noise, and smirking. Making judgy comments, all the stuff PF is supposed to remove from the atmosphere. Too many young kids from Brickhouse, are for some reason coming here. It makes me not want to go workout, when a bunchbof meat heads are hanging on the equipment, playing with their phones, and talking about people under their breath. Please go back to Brickhouse. Half of the staff is great. The other half are the friends of those same young kids.

What an amazing place to get ringworm! Dirty people not wiping down machines you complain and get told off by the young punk manager. I went in to cancel due to filthy conditions and was told " just don't have time it seems to exercise" guess that's what they are told to put down rather than the truth. As a member for roughly 9-10 years but attendant since 1-2 years prior to that (thanks to my sisters pf black card) I’ve always been pleased with the staff and prudent cleaning practices and focus on keeping equipment in good shape to prevent breakdowns. This was my first post pandemic visit (I hadn’t been since the beginning of 2020) and I absolutely loved the (new to me) machines that replaced the ones that were there the last time I went, the easily accessible speed buttons on both the treadmills and ellipticals were amazing!

Also, 1 of 3 showers is down. Management is obviously aware of the situation as there are PF placards identifying the units as "out of see vice." Gotta have basic services in a gym. The Young girls behind the counter are very judgmental and just there at people instead of instead of doing something not friendly. Rude. I have been to several planet fitnesses but this one in Sanford is ridiculous. Only 2 bathrooms showers are tiny. But the thing that I hated the most was the staff. Positive - Separate room with a 30 minute program. Benefits those who are uncomfortable with crowds.
Energetic employees, greats coming and going.

Negative - Advertise they are hiring on indeed.com. Cannot reapply. As indeed does not allow it. Stop in pf, told to apply on indeed. Next visit, was told they over hired, so are not accepting applications. Ask to speak to a manager, was told he is at lunch and do not know when he will be back.
So, I feel this is a big false advertising. Signs all over saying to stop in and fill out application.
There was an employee with a black pf shirt on. I believe he was a Manager and did not enter into the conversation.

As a coast-to-coast road-tripping virtual worker during Corona, I've visited my share of PF locations over the past 15 months. On what was my first and most likely only visit to the Sanford gym, I'm proud to assign an A+ rating.

Clean, nice layout and spacious, all the equipment you’ll want and need, organized (everything in its place), overhead music on at just the right volume, well-managed, respectful members, good location (close to several post-workout food options).

I ended my night with the Black Card combo massage special (the hydrojet to loosen up, followed by the shiatsu chairs). I feel like a million bucks after, and anticipate sleeping like a baby. To all the PF newbies out there- trust me, the Black Card membership is worth every penny.

Special recognition for Ash and Vanessa. I had driven 20 minutes from my hotel to another location, which had closed early for the Memorial Day holiday. I called the Sanford gym and Ash answered the phone, and said that they were open, and she’d be there waiting for me. She has an upbeat, positive vibe about her, down to her shimmying behind the desk. #DanceLikeNoOnesWatching, young lady! Vanessa is professional, personable, knowledgeable. I enjoyed our conversation about gym life during the pandemic, and the fitness industry as a whole. This dynamic duo made my night. They’re both amazing advocates for PF. Kudos to whomever made the hiring decision to place these two on staff.

I thanked both of these employees for enabling an evening workout for an old man with a sore back, who badly needed a pit stop.

I arrived at the gym tonight at 5:10 no one was at the front desk.I had already scanned my phone to tan.I stood there and waited until 5:30 than finally Jaxson came out from the men’s locker room!!Then proceeded to ask me if I was the one calling on the phone, because it was ringing!!Sorry Jaxson it had been ringing nonstop for ten minutes.I said no.Then he proceeded to answer the phone like I wasn’t even standing there!!Really!!Then gave me an attitude when I told him that I had already scanned my phone to tan but it was for 15 minutes ago..I noticed you have a camera right above the men’s locker room entrance.Take a look at how long I stood there!!I had a light green sweatshirt on!!You really need to train that kid on how to treat customers or get more help in there!!

I normally do not have an issue with gym however yesterday was a bad experience. Me and girlfriend were there and noticed there were two bikes next to each other that weren't closed (social distancing) so I was on a bike and she was on the other one. However, 5min later a worker says "You guys cannot exercise together" and I told him "I came in with her, why does it matter?" And he said "Sorry its the rules". So if you pretty much come here with a friend or a family member you are not allowed to exercise with them or be near each other. What I find weird is that I saw three workers near each other just talking. Are they breaking their own rule? So the workers can be near each other but not family and friends? Unprofessional.

My girlfriend and I signed up last year. After a series of events, we were unable to return (I required hospitalization for a health issue, then she did too). We understood we were under a contract and would need to buyout (we didn't have the money) so we let it go. Our contract ended in the middle of COVID-19 while the location was closed. We were told they wouldn't be charging while the locations remained closed, which was fine.

We both returned to working and I was working quite a lot of hours and was unable to make the trip in to cancel. They charged us for our monthly payment in July, not a big deal.

Finally, I had the time to go in, except I started experiencing symptoms of COVID (have documentation to show that I did indeed get tested). So we tried calling to cancel, given the circumstances. Got told "no you have to come in". Alright, still not upset and just let it go.

I finally get the all-clear that I'm COVID free. I return to the work the same day I'm given the all clear, and then I worked for 6 days straight, open until close. During that time period we were charged the annual fee. So today, I go in and ask to cancel and ask to get my annual fee refunded and they tell me no. I explain the situation, and ask just for a prorated amount, still a no.

So let me get this straight for anyone who goes here; My understanding is this. It is NOT okay for you to avoid infecting their staff and members if you need to cancel. They expect you to come in, showing symptoms, and to risk infecting them, or else they'll continue charging you. The health of their employees and members comes second to money.

24/7 is needed most. This gym is too small. It's designed for 6 to 10 people. it has a decent amount of treadmills. Its 625am on a Saturday and this location is not open. How in the heck!!! I like to start my day before the sun comes up in the iron paradise.

Really enjoy the flexibility and 24/7 schedule of Planet Fitness sense it really works great for my schedule when I can make it to the gym through the week.

Unfortunately, this branch doesn't offer 24/7(only 24/4) and closes at 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays(the 2 predominant days I know I can work out after getting out of work at 5pm both days) Kinda makes me rethink my wifes and my membership sense I can't really use the gym for the 24 hour access I need.

Well apparently you are not allowed to talk or even have a conversation with the manager because they run to the regional manager and say lies about you. Not worth the drama that it has. They hire kids off the street and make them managers, in one year I have seen 2 managers and a lot of different employees because they do not know how to treat people. I have muscular dystrophy in my throat so I am unable to even speak loud, everyone is always having me repeat what I have said, but yet I was told that I was speaking to loud and members left because I was talking to loud, but it is all right for the employees to walk around laughing and talking where you cannot even hear your music through the headphones
