PPY is by far hands down the best and hardest work out I’ve ever endured. Each teacher is so powerful and badass. You walk out of every class in a state of euphoria that it’s hard to drive yourself home. Bring towels, water and a strong attitude

I started doing yoga on a bit of a whim towards the end of last year. Hearing that I had been practicing a colleague at work suggested Portland Power Yoga. I was skeptical, as I am a larger man, morbidly obese by the charts, and have never considered myself even remotely flexible. But my fears were soon relieved as I found that everyone at PPY was so patient and kind, offering me alternatives to poses, treating me with patience, and making sure to get my name.

After about 7 months of visiting it feels like a small family of people that I have been accepted into. Yoga has helped me physically, given me more patience and kindness with my kids, and allowed me to make steps towards the person that I want to be. I don’t know that I’d be there without PPY.

Get place for a drop in yoga class while touring Maine. Excellent price per class at $20 (or can purchase other passes). Showers available. Heated yoga. Plenty of parking. 4 blocks from a Whole Foods store.

I thought I was an athlete until the teachers at PPY broke me in half and taught me what toughness really means. And they’re just so damn friendly while they’re doing it! I always thought yoga was so boring! I was going to come into this class for a few yawns and a bit of heat in the winter. Woof. No. The athleticism of this class is written all over the bodies of the people who do it. This practice will change your life if you give it a chance. I look forward to it every day!

The teachers are the absolute BEST, and the studio is a community, not just a place to get a workout in (although you better be ready for that if you’re just stopping in!) Everyone is so friendly, everyone else in class is so supportive, and I can truly say I’ve made some of my favorite friends in Portland through PPY and its programming. I’m stronger, more flexible and have better cardio than I ever thought I’d get through yoga.

If you haven’t been to PPY yet, you’re missing out! And if you have, see ya there!

I have yet to find a power yoga studio that I like as much as PPY. The rigor of classes, mixed with the energy of the teachers and focus on the breath (rather than music) is exactly what I need.

I recently traveled to Portland on vacation and attended two classes, the 45 min express and the 60 minute Vinyasa. I really enjoyed the structure of the classes, and the teaching was excellent! The cueing was clear and consistent, encouraging the student to push further with modifications offered. As a visitor, I felt welcome… The physical studio is large, clean, and it was convenient to be able to rent a mat and towel. I will recommend this studio to any hot yoga practitioner!

PPY entered my world about 10 years ago, when I was not sure what type of workout to focus on next. Yoga itself, along with the amazing, motivating teachers quickly became my thing; the thing I had been seeking. Please know that this yoga is not a stretching class, but a solid workout with more sweat than I have experienced in any run or tennis match. Not only do the classes there help with strength and mobility, but I learned over time how the classes are meditative in nature. It's an incredible release for me to follow the voice of the teacher, and completely focus on my breath (the breath is synchronized) and my own mat. It takes all of my focus to do the intense pose progression so my mind does not wander. PPY has given me physical and mental strength that I apply to my life every day. BEST CLASSES and TEACHERS: Any of them! They are all unique and caring teachers and the classes each serve a meaningful purpose. One of my fave classes is Core class on Wed. with Darcy. If you want to get in shape, come to Core! There is also another great Core class on Monday with Tim. Just when you are at your exhaustion point, you will hear words of wisdom that will mean so much too.
Darcy and Tim are both absolutely amazing and motivating as are all the teachers. If you are considering giving Portland Power Yoga a try, you should!

The teachers and the classes have improved my life for the better over the years. It's always great to meet a friendly staff member in the lobby, have an excellent class, and connect with people in the process. The studio and space overall is clean and well managed. I really enjoy spending an hour of the day at PPY!

Portland Power Yoga classes have been the best addition to my weekly schedule! Such a great class for building strength in your whole body. I love their approach to mindfulness and staying present, these practices really help beyond the mat. PPY staff are passionate, hard-working and so kind! If you are looking for a refresh button throughout your week, this is it!

I started attending classes at PPY with a recommendation from a friend in January 2023. Attending the 9 am weekend classes with Darcy and Sam, I found a challenge and a new discipline I needed. As the year has passed, I have found the studio and all the teachers to be caring, kind, and helpful in the progression of my practice. It is an open and gentle space I highly recommend everyone experience.

I was fortunate to find this studio during my visit to Portland last month. Special thank you to Darcy and Julie who were so welcoming. The studio is a great size and clean and I was happy to see that they also had showers there as well. The class was fabulous (thank you Julie! I'm hoping I remembered the correct name ...or was it Alyssa?) In any event, the staff was fantastic and the class was challenging but so worth it. If you're in the neighborhood, I highly recommend!

Portland Power Yoga is incredible for the mind and body. Their Core class, taught by Darcy, with regular practice will transform your body and build physical and mental strength. I have never attended a fitness class that was so transformative. Darcy’s class is a gift to the Portland Maine community.

This place is the best and has transformed my life in a wonderful way. My wife brought me here 2.5 years ago to help me manage a pretty bad bout of depression, chronic back pain and anxiety. I was a complete novice to yoga and I will always remember how kind and open Donna was on my first day there. It felt like the right place and I kept going back 2-3 times per week. Every instructor there has the same passion, kindness and authenticity that Donna showed me on my first day.
All the classes have a similar framework which is a powerful flowing vinyasa. The instructors don't practice with you but instead focus their energy and attention to the room, the breath and the flow. It can be a powerful experience when the room is in sync and you're in a flow state.
The space is welcoming, open, bright and clean. The clientele is a mix of all types of people, all body times and all practice levels. I never felt self conscious from day one when I was a clunky stiff old guy to the present time. This was the most important part for me when I was first starting.
I now realize why the instructors are passionate about what they do and teach. Going to PPY and leaning the practice of yoga has brought a new calm to my life. I realized that our bodies and minds are much stronger than our society has led us to believe. My 20 years of chronic back pain has resolved, I have a new found calm and am full of gratitude and joy most of the time. I still can't believe I went from being a guy with bone spurs to someone that now does back bends (it's a work in progress). Thank you Julie for your vision and for cultivating this wonderful place.

I was recommended to Portland Power Yoga by a friend. My friend and I decided we wanted to do a month long commitment of 6am yoga. You honestly cant beat the price for the new client package. It has been great so far. The room is large, hot and very clean :). The staff and workouts have been amazing. I would highly recommend.

Wonderful instruction, clean space, convenient location. I have been attending classes ever since I moved to the area and haven't found a yoga studio I prefer over PPY in all of Maine. The community that has been built around this challenging and rewarding practice is a testament to great work Julie, Darcy & Co. have done. You will always feel welcomed and pushed to do your best, whatever that looks like for you as an individual.

I can say with total honest that PPY changed my life. I had no idea the transformative power of yoga. I just started going to class 5-6 times a week, and things in my life were shifting. It is a lovely space, complete with showers, plenty of cubbies, great friendly staff. They have a great newcomers package. For 59$ you receive mat and towel rentals, and unlimited classes for a month. If you become a member after that its only 89$ a month. As a beginner and someone curious about yoga, but intimidated-I felt welcome and part of the crew. I remember one day the owner and teacher said hello to me and said my name, and I was all like....they know my name?! The style of teaching is by far the most incredible yoga I have experienced. Everyone moves and breathes together. It is a beautiful experience, very connecting, and its a killah workout! The teachers are always clear on resting or modifying when needed however. This place will be my home away from home forever.

I'm not one for 'group' exercising but I went to PPY once and keep going back, 2 years later! The studio is clean, the teachers are kind, the studio is clean and the classes are challenging while still being incredibly rewarding mentally and physically. Definitely give it a try!

Run don't walk to Portland Power Yoga.

I took a noon, power yoga class with Darcy who guided us through a series of postures with ease, great clarity and a clear intention for us to connect with our breathing over everything else. Her expert cueing and pacing let me focus on my practice. She pretty much limited her own talk to the essentials, inviting us to have our own experience and, again, use our breath for support. As a long time practitioner, it was one of the best classes I have been to in a very long time.

What a great power vinyasa studio! Spacious room, great light, super friendly, professionally run.

Not to mention the spiritual benefits you'll get, this hot yoga studio uses a vinyasa practice to put you in the best shape you've ever been in.
The crew there - Charlie, Alice, Ashley, and Meg - make it even better. They're more than happy to help out or just chat with you. I can't say enough good things about them.
I've only been going for a few months, and I'm already hooked! Even if you've never done yoga before, checking this place out is a must!
